< Numbers 26 >
1 And it comes to pass, after the plague, that YHWH speaks to Moses and to Eleazar son of Aaron the priest, saying,
Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē ʻi he hili ʻae mahaki fakaʻauha, naʻe folofola ʻa Sihova kia Mōsese mo ʻEliesa ko e foha ʻo ʻElone ko e taulaʻeiki, ʻo pehē,
2 “Take a census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel, from a son of twenty years and upward, by the house of their fathers, everyone going out to the host in Israel.”
“Mo lau ʻae kakai kotoa pē ʻoe fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, mei he uofulu taʻu ʻo fai hake, ʻi he fale ʻo ʻenau ngaahi tamai, ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku mālohi ke ʻalu atu ke tau ʻi ʻIsileli.”
3 And Moses speaks—Eleazar the priest also—with them in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho, saying,

4 “From a son of twenty years and upward,” as YHWH has commanded Moses and the sons of Israel who are coming out from the land of Egypt.

5 Reuben, firstborn of Israel—sons of Reuben: of Enoch [is] the family of the Enochite; of Pallu the family of the Palluite;

6 of Hezron the family of the Hezronite; of Carmi the family of the Carmite.

7 These [are] families of the Reubenite, and their numbered ones are forty-three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

8 And the son of Pallu [is] Eliab;

9 and the sons of Eliab [are] Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram; this [is that] Dathan and Abiram, called ones of the congregation, who have striven against Moses and against Aaron in the congregation of Korah, in their striving against YHWH,

10 and the earth opens her mouth, and swallows them and Korah, in the death of the congregation, in the fire consuming the two hundred and fifty men, and they become a sign;

11 but the sons of Korah did not die.

12 Sons of Simeon by their families: of Nemuel [is] the family of the Nemuelite; of Jamin the family of the Jaminite; of Jachin the family of the Jachinite;

14 These [are] families of the Simeonite—twenty-two thousand and two hundred.

15 Sons of Gad by their families: of Zephon [is] the family of the Zephonite; of Haggi the family of the Haggite; of Shuni the family of the Shunite;

17 of Arod the family of the Arodite; of Areli the family of the Arelite.
Pea ʻia ʻEloti, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau ʻEloti: pea ʻia ʻAleli, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau ʻAleli.
18 These [are] families of the sons of Gad by their numbered ones—forty thousand and five hundred.

19 Sons of Judah [are] Er and Onan; and Er dies—Onan also—in the land of Canaan.

27 These [are] families of the Zebulunite by their numbered ones—sixty thousand and five hundred.

28 Sons of Joseph by their families [are] Manasseh and Ephraim.

29 Sons of Manasseh: of Machir [is] the family of the Machirite; and Machir has begotten Gilead; of Gilead [is] the family of the Gileadite.

30 These [are] sons of Gilead: of Jeezer [is] the family of the Jeezerite; of Helek the family of the Helekite;

32 and of Shemida the family of the Shemidaite; and of Hepher the family of the Hepherite.
Pea ʻia Simita, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Simita: ʻia Hefeli, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Hefeli.
33 And Zelophehad son of Hepher had no sons, but [only] daughters, and the names of the daughters of Zelophehad [are] Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

35 These [are] sons of Ephraim by their families: of Shuthelah [is] the family of the Shuthelhite; of Becher the family of the Bachrite; of Tahan the family of the Tahanite.
Ko e ngaahi foha eni ʻo ʻIfalemi ʻi honau ngaahi faʻahinga: ʻia Sutila, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Sutila: ʻia Pikeli, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Pekeli: ʻia Tehani, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Tehani.
36 And these [are] sons of Shuthelah: of Eran the family of the Eranite.
Pea ko e ngaahi foha eni ʻo Sutila: ʻia ʻElani, ʻae faʻahinga ʻoe kau ʻElani.
37 These [are] families of the sons of Ephraim by their numbered ones—thirty-two thousand and five hundred. These [are] sons of Joseph by their families.

38 Sons of Benjamin by their families: of Bela [is] the family of the Belaite; of Ashbel the family of the Ashbelite; of Ahiram the family of the Ahiramite;
Ko e ngaahi foha ʻo Penisimani ʻi honau ngaahi faʻahinga: ʻIa Pila, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Pila: ʻia ʻAsipeli, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau ʻAsipeli: ʻia ʻEhilami, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau ʻEhilami:
39 of Shupham the family of the Shuphamite; of Hupham the family of the Huphamite.
Pea ʻia Sifufami, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Sifufami: ʻia Hufami, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Hufami.
40 And sons of Bela are Ard and Naaman: [of Ard is] the family of the Ardite; of Naaman the family of the Naamite.
Pea ko e ongo foha ʻo Pila, ko ʻAliti mo Neamani: ʻia ʻAliti ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau ʻAliti: pea ʻia Neamani, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Neamani.
41 These [are] sons of Benjamin by their families, and their numbered ones [are] forty-five thousand and six hundred.

42 These [are] sons of Dan by their families: of Shuham [is] the family of the Shuhamite; these [are] families of Dan by their families;
Ko e ngaahi foha eni ʻo Tani ʻi honau ngaahi faʻahinga: ʻIa Suhami, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Suhami. Ko e ngaahi kakai eni ʻo Tani ʻi honau ngaahi faʻahinga.
43 all the families of the Shuhamite by their numbered ones—sixty-four thousand and four hundred.
Ko e ngaahi faʻahinga fulipē ʻoe kau Suhami, ʻo fakatatau mo kinautolu naʻe lau meiate kinautolu, ko e toko ono mano mo e toko fā afe ma fāngeau.
44 Sons of Asher by their families: of Jimna [is] the family of the Jimnite; of Jesui the family of the Jesuite; of Beriah the family of the Beriite.
Ko e fānau ʻa ʻAseli ʻi honau ngaahi faʻahinga: ʻIa Simina, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Simina ʻia ʻIsui, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau ʻIsui: ʻia Pelia, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Pelia.
45 Of sons of Beriah: of Heber [is] the family of the Heberite; of Malchiel the family of the Malchielite.
Ko e ngaahi foha ʻo Pelia: ʻIa Hepa, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Hepa: ʻia Malikieli, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Malikieli.
46 And the name of the daughter of Asher [is] Sarah.

47 These [are] families of the sons of Asher by their numbered ones—fifty-three thousand and four hundred.

48 Sons of Naphtali by their families: of Jahzeel [is] the family of the Jahzeelite; of Guni the family of the Gunite;
Ko e ngaahi foha ʻo Nafitali ʻi honau ngaahi faʻahinga: ʻIa Saseile, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Saseile: ʻia Kuni, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Kuni:
49 of Jezer the family of the Jezerite; of Shillem the family of the Shillemite.

50 These [are] families of Naphtali by their families, and their numbered ones [are] forty-five thousand and four hundred.
Ko e ngaahi fānau eni ʻo Nafitali ʻi honau ngaahi faʻahinga: pea ko kinautolu naʻe lau meiate kinautolu ko e toko fā mano mo e toko nima afe ma fāngeau.
51 These [are] numbered ones of the sons of Israel—six hundred thousand and one thousand seven hundred and thirty.
Ko kinautolu ni naʻe lau ʻi he fānau ʻa ʻIsileli, ko e toko ono kilu, mo e toko taha afe, mo e toko fitungeau ma tolungofulu.
52 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Pea naʻe folofola ʻa Sihova kia Mōsese, ʻo pehē,
53 “The land is apportioned to these by inheritance, by the number of names;
“ʻE tufa ʻae fonua kiate kinautolu ni ko e tofiʻa, ʻo fakatatau ki hono lau ʻoe ngaahi hingoa.
54 to the many you increase their inheritance, and to the few you diminish their inheritance; each is given his inheritance according to his numbered ones.
Ke ke foaki ʻae tofiʻa lahi ki he kakai tokolahi, pea mo e tofiʻa siʻi ki he kakai tokosiʻi: ʻe foaki ʻa hono tofiʻa taki taha ʻo fakatatau mo kinautolu naʻe lau ʻiate ia.
55 Surely the land is apportioned by lot; they inherit by the names of the tribes of their fathers;
Ka neongo ia ʻe tufa ʻae fonua ʻi he talotalo: pea tenau maʻu ia ʻo fakatatau ki he hingoa ʻoe faʻahinga ʻo ʻenau ngaahi tamai.
56 their inheritance is apportioned according to the lot between many and few.”
ʻE fakatatau ki he talotalo ʻae tufaki ʻoe tofiʻa ki he tokolahi mo e tokosiʻi.”
57 And these [are] numbered ones of the Levite by their families: of Gershon [is] the family of the Gershonite; of Kohath the family of the Kohathite; of Merari the family of the Merarite.
Pea ko kinautolu eni naʻe lau ʻoe kau Livai ʻi honau ngaahi faʻahinga: ʻIa Kesoni, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Kesoni: ʻia Kohate, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Kohate: ʻia Melali, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Melali.
58 These [are] families of the Levite: the family of the Libnite, the family of the Hebronite, the family of the Mahlite, the family of the Mushite, the family of the Korathite. And Kohath has begotten Amram,
Ko e ngaahi faʻahinga eni ʻoe kau Livai: ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Lipinai, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Hepeloni, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Mali, ko e faʻahinga, ʻoe kau Musi, ko e faʻahinga ʻoe kau Kola. Pea naʻe tupu ʻa ʻAmilami ia Kohate.
59 and the name of Amram’s wife is Jochebed, daughter of Levi, whom has been born to Levi in Egypt; and she bears to Amram Aaron, and Moses, and their sister Miriam.

60 And born to Aaron [are] Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar;
Pea naʻe fanauʻi kia ʻElone ʻa Natapi, mo ʻApiu, mo ʻEliesa, mo ʻItama.
61 and Nadab dies—Abihu also—in their bringing strange fire near before YHWH.
Pea naʻe mate ʻa Natapi mo ʻApiu ʻi heʻena ʻatu ʻae afi ʻikai tapu ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova.
62 And their numbered ones are twenty-three thousand, every male from a son of a month and upwards, for they have not numbered themselves in the midst of the sons of Israel, because an inheritance has not been given to them in the midst of the sons of Israel.

63 These [are] those numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who have numbered the sons of Israel in the plains of Moab by the Jordan, [near] Jericho;

64 and among these there has not been a man of those numbered by Moses and Aaron the priest, who numbered the sons of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai,

65 for YHWH said of them, “They certainly die in the wilderness”; and there has not been left a man of them, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
