< Numbers 23 >
1 And Balaam says to Balak, “Build seven altars for me in this [place], and prepare seven bullocks and seven rams for me in this [place].”
Balamu n’agamba Balaki nti, “Nkolera wano ebyoto musanvu, era onfunire ne sseddume z’ente musanvu, n’endiga ennume musanvu.”
2 And Balak does as Balaam has spoken, and Balak—Balaam also—offers a bullock and a ram on the altar,
Balaki n’akola nga Balamu bwe yamugamba; bombi Balaki ne Balamu ne bawaayo ente emu n’endiga ennume emu ku buli kyoto.
3 and Balaam says to Balak, “Station yourself by your burnt-offering and I go on, it may be YHWH comes to meet me, and the thing which He shows me I have declared to you”; and he goes [to] a high place.
Balamu n’agamba Balaki nti, “Beera wano awali ekiweebwayo kyo nze njire nga nzirako wabbali. Oboolyawo nga Mukama anajja n’ansisinkana. Buli kyonna ky’anambikkulira nnaakikutegeeza.” N’alaga waggulu ku lusozi awatali bimera.
4 And God comes to Balaam, and he says to Him, “I have arranged the seven altars, and I offer a bullock and a ram on the altar”;
Katonda n’asisinkana Balamu; Balamu n’amugamba nti, “Nteeseteese ebyoto musanvu, era ku buli kyoto mpeereddeko ente ya sseddume emu n’endiga ennume emu.”
5 and YHWH puts a word in the mouth of Balaam and says, “Return to Balak, and thus you speak.”
Mukama Katonda n’assa ebigambo mu kamwa ka Balamu n’amugamba nti, “Ddayo eri Balaki omutuuseeko obubaka buno.”
6 And he returns to him, and behold, he is standing by his burnt-offering, he and all the princes of Moab.
N’addayo gye yali, n’amusanga ng’ayimiridde awali ekiweebwayo kye, n’abakungu bonna aba Mowaabu.
7 And he takes up his allegory and says: “Balak king of Moab leads me from Aram; From mountains of the east. Come—curse Jacob for me, And come—be indignant [with] Israel.
Balamu n’alagula nti, “Balaki ye yanzigya mu Alamu, kabaka wa Mowaabu yanzigya mu nsozi z’ebuvanjuba. N’aŋŋamba nti, ‘Jjangu onkolimiririre Yakobo; jjangu oboole Isirayiri.’
8 How do I pierce [when] God has not pierced? And how am I indignant [when] YHWH has not been indignant?
Nnyinza okukolimira abo Katonda batakolimidde? Nnyinza okuboola abo Mukama Katonda baatabodde?
9 For from the top of rocks I see him, And from heights I behold him; Behold a people! He dwells alone, And does not reckon himself among nations.
Mbalaba okuva ku ntikko ez’enjazi mbalengera nga nsinziira ku nsozi. Ndaba abantu abeeyawuddeko abateerowooza kuba ng’erimu ku mawanga.
10 Who has counted the dust of Jacob, And the number of the fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of upright ones, And let my last end be like his!”
Ani ayinza okubala enfuufu ya Yakobo, oba okubala ekitundu ekyokuna ekya Isirayiri? Leka nfe okufa okw’omutuukirivu, n’enkomerero yange ebeere ng’eyaabwe!”
11 And Balak says to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I have taken you to pierce my enemies, and behold, you have certainly blessed”;
Balaki n’agamba Balamu nti, “Onkoze ki kino? Nakuyita kujja kukolimira balabe bange, naye obw’edda bwonna obadde obasabira mukisa!”
12 and he answers and says, “That which YHWH puts in my mouth—do I not take heed to speak it?”
N’addamu nti, “Tekiŋŋwanidde kwogera ekyo Mukama Katonda ky’atadde mu kamwa kange?”
13 And Balak says to him, “Come! Come to another place with me, from where you see it—you see only its extremity, and you do not see all of it, and pierce it for me there”;
Balaki n’amugamba nti, “Jjangu tugende mu kifo ekirala w’onoolabira abaana ba Isirayiri; ojja kulabako kitundu butundu so si bonna. Kale nno sinziira awo obankolimiririre.”
14 and he takes him [to] the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and builds seven altars, and offers a bullock and a ram on the altar.
N’amutwala mu nnimiro ya Zofimu, ku ntikko ya Pisuga, n’azimbira eyo ebyoto musanvu n’awaayo sseddume w’ente emu n’endiga ennume emu ku buli kyoto.
15 And he says to Balak, “Station yourself here by your burnt-offering, and I meet [Him] there”;
Balamu n’agamba Balaki nti, “Beera wano awali ebiweebwayo byo, nze ŋŋende musisinkane wali.”
16 and YHWH comes to Balaam, and sets a word in his mouth, and says, “Return to Balak, and thus you speak.”
Mukama Katonda n’asisinkana Balamu, n’ateeka obubaka mu kamwa ke, ng’agamba nti, “Ddayo eri Balaki omuwe obubaka obwo.”
17 And he comes to him, and behold, he is standing by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab [are] with him, and Balak says to him: “What has YHWH spoken?”
N’addayo gy’ali n’amusanga ng’ayimiridde awali ekiweebwayo, ng’ali n’abakungu ba Mowaabu. Balaki n’amubuuza nti, “Mukama Katonda agambye ki?”
18 And he takes up his allegory and says: “Rise, Balak, and hear; Give ear to me, son of Zippor!
Bw’atyo n’alagula nti, “Golokoka, Balaki, owulirize; mpulira, mutabani wa Zipoli.
19 God [is] not a man—and lies, And a son of man—and relents! Has He said—and He does not do [it]? And spoken—and He does not confirm it?
Katonda si muntu, nti ayinza okulimba, oba nti mwana wa bantu nti akyusakyusa ebigambo bye. Ayogera n’atakola? Asuubiza n’atatuukiriza?
20 Behold, I have received [only] to bless; Indeed, He blesses, and I cannot reverse it.
Mpeereddwa ekiragiro okusaba omukisa; agabye omukisa, era siyinza kukikyusa.
21 He has not beheld iniquity in Jacob, Nor has He seen perverseness in Israel; His God YHWH [is] with him, And a shout of a king [is] in him.
“Tewali kibi kirabiddwa mu Yakobo, tewali kubonaabona kulabise mu Isirayiri. Mukama Katonda waabwe ali nabo; eddoboozi lya kabaka ery’omwanguka liri wakati mu bo.
22 God is bringing them out from Egypt, As the swiftness of a wild ox for him;
Katonda ye yabaggya mu Misiri, balina amaanyi ng’aga sseddume ey’omu nsiko.
23 For no enchantment [is] against Jacob, Nor divination against Israel; At the time it is said of Jacob and Israel, O what God has worked!
Tewali bulogo ku Yakobo, tewali bulaguzi ku Isirayiri. Kiryogerwako ku Yakobo ne ku Isirayiri nti, ‘Mulabe Katonda ky’akoze!’
24 Behold, the people rises as a lioness, And he lifts himself up as a lion; He does not lie down until he eats prey, And drinks blood of pierced ones.”
Abantu basituka ng’empologoma enkazi, beezuukusa ng’empologoma ensajja etaweera okutuusa ng’eridde omuyiggo gwayo n’enywa omusaayi gw’ebyo by’esse.”
25 And Balak says to Balaam, “Neither pierce it at all, nor bless it at all”;
Balaki n’agamba Balamu nti, “Tobakolimira wadde okubasabira omukisa n’akamu!”
26 and Balaam answers and says to Balak, “Have I not spoken to you, saying, All that YHWH speaks—I do it?”
Balamu n’addamu nti, “Saakutegeezezza nti kinsaanidde okukola ekyo kyonna Mukama Katonda ky’anaagamba?”
27 And Balak says to Balaam, “Please come, I take you to another place; it may be it is right in the eyes of God to pierce it for me from there.”
Balaki n’agamba Balamu nti, “Jjangu, nkutwale mu kifo ekirala, oboolyawo Katonda anakkiriza obankoliimiririre ng’osinziira awo.”
28 And Balak takes Balaam to the top of Peor, which is looking on the front of the wilderness,
Balaki n’atwala Balamu ku ntikko y’olusozi Peoli, olwolekedde eddungu.
29 and Balaam says to Balak, “Build seven altars for me in this [place], and prepare seven bullocks and seven rams for me in this [place]”;
Balamu n’agamba Balaki nti, “Nzimbira wano ebyoto musanvu, era onfunireyo wano ente za sseddume musanvu n’endiga ennume musanvu.”
30 and Balak does as Balaam said, and he offers a bullock and a ram on an altar.
Balaki n’akola nga Balamu bwe yamusaba, n’awaayo sseddume y’ente emu n’endiga ennume emu ku buli kyoto.
