Numbers 21
1 And the Canaanite, king of Arad, dwelling in the south, hears that Israel has come the way of the Atharim, and he fights against Israel, and takes [some] of them captive.
೧ಕಾನಾನ್ ದೇಶದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯನಾದ ಅರಾದ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಅರಸನು, ಅತಾರೀಮ್ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ, ಅವನು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿದನು.
2 And Israel vows a vow to YHWH and says, “If You certainly give this people into my hand, then I have devoted their cities”;
೨ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಮಾಡಿ, “ನಾವು ಈ ಜನರನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸುವಂತೆ ನೀನು ಅನುಗ್ರಹಿಸಿದರೆ ನಾವು ಅವರ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಾಶಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
3 and YHWH listens to the voice of Israel and gives up the Canaanite, and he devotes them and their cities, and calls the name of the place Hormah.
೩ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವರನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದರು. ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರ್ಮಾ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಾಯಿತು.
4 And they journey from Mount Hor, the way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom, and the soul of the people is short in the way,
೪ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಹೋರ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಎದೋಮ್ಯರ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೆಂಪು ಸಮುದ್ರದ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡುವಾಗ, ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯಾಸದಿಂದ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬೇಸರವಾಯಿತು.
5 and the people speak against God and against Moses, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in a wilderness? For there is no bread, and there is no water, and our soul has been weary of this light bread.”
೫ಆಗ ಅವರು ದೇವರಿಗೂ ಮತ್ತು ಮೋಶೆಗೂ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, “ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಈ ಮರಳುಗಾಡಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಕೆಂದು ಐಗುಪ್ತ ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿರೋ? ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಆಹಾರವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ನೀರೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಈ ರುಚಿ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ತಿಂದು ನಮಗೆ ಬೇಸರವಾಯಿತು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
6 And YHWH sends the burning serpents among the people, and they bite the people, and many people of Israel die;
೬ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೆಹೋವನು ವಿಷಸರ್ಪಗಳನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಜನರೊಳಗೆ ಬರಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವು ಜನರನ್ನು ಕಚ್ಚಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಬಹಳಜನರು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದರು.
7 and the people come to Moses and say, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against YHWH and against you; pray to YHWH that He turns the serpent aside from us”; and Moses prays in behalf of the people.
೭ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಜನರು ಮೋಶೆಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು, “ನಾವು ನಿನಗೂ ಮತ್ತು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೂ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ದ್ರೋಹಿಗಳಾದೆವು. ಈ ಸರ್ಪಗಳು ನಮ್ಮ ಬಳಿಯಿಂದ ತೊಲಗಿಹೋಗುವಂತೆ ನೀನು ಯೆಹೋವನಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಮಾಡಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
8 And YHWH says to Moses, “Make a burning [serpent] for yourself, and set it on an ensign; and it has been, everyone who is bitten and has seen it—he has lived.”
೮ಮೋಶೆ ಜನರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಲಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನು ಅವನಿಗೆ, “ನೀನು ತಾಮ್ರದಿಂದ ವಿಷಸರ್ಪದ ಆಕಾರವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಿ ಧ್ವಜಸ್ತಂಭದ ಮೇಲೆ ಎತ್ತಿ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಬೇಕು. ಸರ್ಪಗಳಿಂದ ಗಾಯಪಟ್ಟವರು ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಬದುಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು” ಎಂದು ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದನು.
9 And Moses makes a serpent of bronze, and sets it on the ensign, and it has been, if the serpent has bitten any man, and he has looked expectingly to the serpent of bronze—he has lived.
೯ಆದಕಾರಣ ಮೋಶೆ ತಾಮ್ರದಿಂದ ಸರ್ಪವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಿ ಧ್ವಜಸ್ತಂಭದ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಟ್ಟನು. ಸರ್ಪದಿಂದ ಗಾಯಪಟ್ಟವರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾರು ಆ ತಾಮ್ರದ ಸರ್ಪವನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯವಿಟ್ಟು ನೋಡಿದರೋ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಬದುಕಿಕೊಂಡರು.
10 And the sons of Israel journey and encamp in Oboth.
೧೦ತರುವಾಯ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಓಬೋತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು.
11 And they journey from Oboth and encamp in Ije-Abarim, in the wilderness that [is] on the front of Moab, at the rising of the sun.
೧೧ಓಬೋತಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಮೋವಾಬ್ ದೇಶದ ಮೂಡಲ ದಿಕ್ಕಿನ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಇಯ್ಯೇ ಅಬಾರೀಮಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು.
12 From there they have journeyed and encamp in the Valley of Zared.
೧೨ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಜೆರೆದ್ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು.
13 From there they have journeyed and encamp beyond Arnon, which [is] in the wilderness which is coming out of the border of the Amorite, for Arnon [is] the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorite;
೧೩ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಅರ್ನೋನ್ ನದಿಯ ಆಚೆ ಕಡೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಅರ್ನೋನ್ ನದಿಯು ಅಮೋರಿಯರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಿಂದಾಚೆ ಇರುವ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರಿಗೂ, ಅಮೋರಿಯರಿಗೂ ನಡುವೆ ಇದ್ದು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಗಡಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.
14 therefore it is said in [the] scroll of the Wars of YHWH: “Waheb in Suphah, And the brooks of Arnon;
೧೪ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವವಿಜಯ ಎಂಬ ಗ್ರಂಥದಲ್ಲಿ, “ಸೂಫಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ವಾಹೇಬನ್ನೂ, ಮತ್ತು ಅರ್ನೋನ್ ನದಿಗೆ ಕೂಡುವ ಹಳ್ಳಗಳನ್ನೂ,
15 And the spring of the brooks, Which turned aside to the dwelling of Ar, And has leaned to the border of Moab.”
೧೫ಆರ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ತನಕ ಮೋವಾಬಿನ ಮೇರೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ಕೊರಕಲನ್ನೂ ದಾಟಿದ್ದಾಯಿತು” ಎಂದು ಬರೆದದೆ.
16 And from there [they journeyed] to Beer; it [is] the well [concerning] which YHWH said to Moses, “Gather the people, and I give water to them.”
೧೬ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಅವರು ಬೇರ್ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮಾತು ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಬಾವಿಯ ವಿಷಯವೇ. ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ, “ಜನರನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸು. ನಾನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವೆನು” ಅಂದನು.
17 Then Israel sings this song: “Spring up, O well, Let all answer to it!
೧೭ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಈ ಹಾಡನ್ನು ಗಾನಮಾಡಿದರು; “ಬಾವಿಯೇ, ಉಕ್ಕುತ್ತಾ ಬಾ! ಜನರೇ, ಉಲ್ಲಾಸದಿಂದ ಗಾನಮಾಡಿರಿ
18 A well—princes have dug it, Nobles of the people have prepared it, With the lawgiver, with their staffs.” And from the wilderness [they journeyed] to Mattanah,
೧೮ಇದು ಪ್ರಧಾನರು ಕೋಲುಗಳಿಂದ ತೋಡಿದ ಬಾವಿ, ಇದು ಜನಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳು ಕೋಲುಗಳಿಂದ ಅಗೆದ ಬಾವಿ” ಎಂಬುವುದೇ. ಅವರು ಅರಣ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಮತ್ತಾನಕ್ಕೂ,
19 and from Mattanah to Nahaliel, and from Nahaliel to Bamoth,
೧೯ಮತ್ತಾನದಿಂದ ನಹಲೀಯೇಲಿಗೂ, ನಹಲೀಯೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಬಾಮೋತಿಗೂ ಬಂದರು.
20 and from Bamoth, in the valley which [is] in the field of Moab, [to] the top of Pisgah, which has looked on the front of the wilderness.
೨೦ಬಾಮೋತಿನಿಂದ ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಬಯಲಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ತಗ್ಗಿನಿಂದ ಪಿಸ್ಗಾ ಎಂಬ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ತುದಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಯೆಷೀಮೋನ್ ಮರಳುಗಾಡು ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
21 And Israel sends messengers to Sihon king of the Amorite, saying,
೨೧ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅಮೋರಿಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೀಹೋನನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ,
22 “Let me pass through your land, we do not turn aside into a field or into a vineyard; we do not drink waters of a well; we go in the king’s way until we pass over your border.”
೨೨“ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ನಮಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯಾಗಬೇಕು. ನಾವು ಹೊಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯಾಗಲಿ, ದ್ರಾಕ್ಷಿತೋಟಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಹೋಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಬಾವಿಗಳ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿನ್ನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ದಾಟುವವರೆಗೂ ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ನಡೆದು ಹೋಗುವೆವು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
23 And Sihon has not permitted Israel to pass through his border, and Sihon gathers all his people, and comes out to meet Israel in the wilderness, and comes to Jahaz, and fights against Israel.
೨೩ಆದರೆ ತನ್ನ ಸೀಮೆಯನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಹೋಗುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೀಹೋನನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಡದೆ ತನ್ನ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ಎದುರಿಸುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಮರುಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟರು. ಅವನು ಯಹಚಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಅವರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದನು.
24 And Israel strikes him by the mouth of the sword, and possesses his land from Arnon to Jabbok—to the sons of Ammon; for the border of the sons of Ammon [is] strong.
೨೪ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅವನ ಜನರನ್ನು ಸೋಲಿಸಿ, ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ ಅರ್ನೋನ್ ನದಿ ಮೊದಲುಗೊಂಡು ಯಬ್ಬೋಕ್ ನದಿಯವರೆಗೂ, ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ಗಡಿಯವರೆಗೂ ಸೀಹೋನನ ದೇಶವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅಮ್ಮೋನಿಯರ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಗಡಿಯು ಬಲವುಳ್ಳದ್ದಾಗಿತ್ತು.
25 And Israel takes all these cities, and Israel dwells in all the cities of the Amorite, in Heshbon and in all its villages;
೨೫ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ವಶಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಅವರು ಹೆಷ್ಬೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಅಮೋರಿಯರ ಬೇರೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಊರುಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ವಾಸಿಸಿದರು.
26 for Heshbon is a city of Sihon king of the Amorite, and he has fought against the former king of Moab, and takes all his land out of his hand as far as Arnon;
೨೬ಹೆಷ್ಬೋನ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಅಮೋರಿಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೀಹೋನನ ರಾಜಧಾನಿ. ಅವನು ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ಪೂರ್ವದ ಅರಸನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅರ್ನೋನ್ ನದಿಯ ವರೆಗೂ ಅವನ ದೇಶವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸ್ವಾಧೀನ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದನು.
27 therefore those using allegories say: “Enter Heshbon, Let the city of Sihon be built and ready,
೨೭ಕವಿಗಳು ಹೇಳಿದ ಪದ್ಯವು ಇದರ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿಯೇ; “ಹೆಷ್ಬೋನಿಗೆ ಬನ್ನಿರಿ. ಅದನ್ನು ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಕಟ್ಟಬೇಕು, ಸೀಹೋನನ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಪುನಃಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಮಾಡಬೇಕು.
28 For fire has gone out from Heshbon, A flame from the city of Sihon, It has consumed Ar of Moab, Owners of the high places of Arnon.
೨೮ಸೀಹೋನನ ಪಟ್ಟಣವಾದ ಹೆಷ್ಬೋನಿನಿಂದ ಅಗ್ನಿ ಜ್ವಾಲೆಹೊರಟು, ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರ ರಾಜಧಾನಿಯಾದ ಆರ್ ಎಂಬ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನೂ ಅರ್ನೋನ್ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಪ್ರಭುಗಳನ್ನು ದಹಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟಿತು.
29 Woe to you, O Moab, You have perished, O people of Chemosh! He has given his sons [as] fugitives, And his daughters into captivity, To Sihon king of the Amorite!
೨೯ಮೋವಾಬ್ಯರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಗತಿಯೇನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಲಿ! ಕೆಮೋಷಿನ ಭಕ್ತರೇ, ನಿಮಗೆ ದುರ್ಗತಿಯುಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಗಂಡುಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ದೇಶಭ್ರಷ್ಟರನ್ನಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಯವರನ್ನಾಗಿಯೂ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನಲ್ಲಾ. ಅಮೋರಿಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೀಹೋನನಿಗೆ ಸೆರೆಯವರಾದರು.
30 And we shoot them; Heshbon has perished as far as Dibon, And we make desolate as far as Nophah, Which [is] as far as Medeba.”
೩೦ನಾವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಬಾಣದಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದೆವು; ಹೆಷ್ಬೋನಿನಿಂದ ದೀಬೋನಿವರೆಗೂ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ನಾಶವಾಯಿತು. ಮೇದೆಬಾ ಊರಿನ ನೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನೋಫಹದ ತನಕ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟೆವು.”
31 And Israel dwells in the land of the Amorite,
೩೧ಹೀಗೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅಮ್ಮೋರಿಯರ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಮಾಡುವಂತಾಯಿತು.
32 and Moses sends to spy out Jaazer, and they capture its villages, and dispossess the Amorite who [is] there,
೩೨ಅದಲ್ಲದೆ ಮೋಶೆ ಗೂಢಚಾರರ ಮೂಲಕ ಯಗ್ಜೇರನ್ನು ಪರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅದರ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅಮೋರಿಯರನ್ನು ಹೊರಡಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
33 and turn and go up the way of Bashan, and Og king of Bashan comes out to meet them, he and all his people, to battle [at] Edrei.
೩೩ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಬಾಷಾನಿನ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಹತ್ತಿಹೋಗಲಾಗಿ ಬಾಷಾನಿನ ಅರಸನಾದ ಓಗನು ತನ್ನ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೊಡನೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಎದ್ರೈವೂರಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟುಬಂದನು.
34 And YHWH says to Moses, “Do not fear him, for into your hand I have given him, and all his people, and his land, and you have done to him as you have done to Sihon king of the Amorite, who is dwelling in Heshbon.”
೩೪ಯೆಹೋವನು ಮೋಶೆಗೆ, “ಅವನಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡ, ನಾನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ಅವನ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಜನರನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ದೇಶವನ್ನೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನೀನು ಹೆಷ್ಬೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅಮೋರಿಯರ ಅರಸನಾದ ಸೀಹೋನನಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಇವರಿಗೂ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
35 And they strike him, and his sons, and all his people, until he has no remnant left to him, and they possess his land.
೩೫ಆದಕಾರಣ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು, ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಉಳಿಯದಂತೆ ಅವನನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೂ, ಅವನ ಜನರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಾಶಮಾಡಿ ಅವನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು.
