1 And the sons of Israel, all the congregation, come [into] the wilderness of Zin in the first month, and the people abide in Kadesh; and Miriam dies there and is buried there.

2 And there has been no water for the congregation, and they are assembled against Moses and against Aaron,
Tedae rhaengpuei ham tui om pawt tih Moses taeng neh Aaron taengah tingtun uh.
3 and the people strive with Moses and speak, saying, “And oh that we had expired when our brothers expired before YHWH!
Te dongah pilnam loh Moses te a ho tih a voek uh hatah, “BOEIPA mikhmuh ah mamih manuca a pal vaengah m'pal uh palueng mako.
4 And why have you brought in the assembly of YHWH to this wilderness to die there, we and our beasts?
Bang ham nim BOEIPA kah hlangping he, kaimih neh ka rhamsa khaw pahoi duek sak ham he nim khosoek la nang khuen?
5 And why have you brought us up out of Egypt to bring us to this evil place? [It is] not a place of seed, and fig, and vine, and pomegranate; and there is no water to drink.”
He hmuen thae la kaimih khuen ham te Egypt lamloh kaimih nan caeh puei he bang ham nim? Cangti, thaibu, misur neh tale hmuen khaw tal tih ok ham tui khaw om pawh,” a ti uh.
6 And Moses and Aaron go in from the presence of the assembly to the opening of the Tent of Meeting and fall on their faces, and the glory of YHWH is seen by them.
Te dongah Moses neh Aaron tah hlangping mikhmuh lamloh tingtunnah dap thohka la cet rhoi tih a maelhmai neh a bakop rhoi vaengah BOEIPA kah thangpomnah tah amih rhoi taengah a phoe pah.
7 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Te phoeiah BOEIPA loh Moses te a voek tih,
8 “Take the rod and assemble the congregation—you and your brother Aaron—and you have spoken to the rock before their eyes, and it has given its water, and you have brought out water to them from the rock, and have watered the congregation and their beasts.”
“Conghol te pom lamtah namah neh na manuca Aaron khaw rhaengpuei khui ah tingtun van. Amih mikhmuh ah thaelpang te voek lamtah a tui m'paek bitni. Te vaengah thaelpang lamkah tui te amih ham khuen lamtah rhaengpuei neh a rhamsa te tul,” a ti nah.
9 And Moses takes the rod from before YHWH as He has commanded him,
Te dongah amah a uen van bangla Moses loh BOEIPA mikhmuh lamkah conghol te a loh.
10 and Moses and Aaron assemble the assembly to the front of the rock, and he says to them, “Now hear, O rebels, do we bring out water to you from this rock?”
Te phoeiah Moses neh Aaron tah thaelpang hmai ah hlangping neh tingtun uh tih amih te, “Hlang koek rhoek hatun uh laeh, he thaelpang lamkah nim nangmih ham tui kam paek ve?” a ti nah.
11 And Moses lifts up his hand and strikes the rock with his rod twice; and much water comes out, and the congregation drinks, and their beasts [drink].
Moses loh a kut a thueng tih thaelpang te a conghol neh hnavoei a boh. Te vaengah tui muep phuet tih rhaengpuei neh a rhamsa loh a ok.
12 And YHWH says to Moses and to Aaron, “Because you have not believed in Me to sanctify Me before the eyes of the sons of Israel, therefore you do not bring in this assembly to the land which I have given to them.”
Tedae BOEIPA loh Moses taeng neh Aaron taengah, “Kai he Israel ca rhoek mikhmuh ah kai he a ciim la nan tangnah rhoi moenih. Te dongah hlangping he a taengah ka paek khohmuen la na pawk uh mahpawh,” a ti nah.
13 These [are] the waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel have “striven” with YHWH, and He is sanctified among them.
He Israel ca rhoek loh BOEIPA a ho nah Meribah tui ni. Tedae amih taengah amah ciim uh coeng.
14 And Moses sends messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, “Thus said your brother Israel: You have known all the travail which has found us,
Kadesh lamlong tah Moses loh Edom manghai taengla puencawn a tueih tih, “Na manuca Israel he na ming, bongboepnah cungkuem loh kaimih m'mah coeng.
15 that our fathers go down to Egypt, and we dwell in Egypt [for] many days, and the Egyptians do evil to us and to our fathers;
A pa rhoek he Egypt la suntla uh tih kum te yet Egypt ah kho ka sak uh. Tedae Egypt loh kaimih taeng neh a pa rhoek taengah khaw thae a huet uh.
16 then we cry to YHWH, and He hears our voice, and sends a Messenger, and is bringing us out of Egypt; and behold, we [are] in Kadesh, a city [in] the extremity of your border.
Tedae BOEIPA taengla ka pang uh dongah kaimih ol a yaak tih puencawn han tueih. Te phoeiah kaimih he Egypt lamloh n'khuen tih na khorhi bawt kah khopuei Kadesh ah ka om uh coeng he.
17 Please let us pass over through your land; we do not pass over through a field or through a vineyard, nor do we drink waters of a well; we go the way of the king, we do not turn aside [to] the right or left until we pass over your border.”
Na khohmuen lamlong he ka kat uh mai eh. Lohma long neh misurdum long khaw ka kat uh mahpawh, tuito tui khaw ka o uh mahpawh, manghai longpuei ah ni ka caeh uh eh, na khorhi ka poeng hil banvoei bantang ka phael uh mahpawh” a ti nah.
18 And Edom says to him, “You do not pass over through me, lest I come out to meet you with the sword.”
Tedae Edom loh anih te, “Kai longah kat boeh, nang doe hamla cunghang kang khuen ve,” a ti nah.
19 And the sons of Israel say to him, “We go in the highway, and if we drink of your waters—I and my livestock—then I have given their price; only, let me pass over on my feet, nothing [more].”
Te vaengah Israel ca rhoek loh, “Longpuei ah ka cet uh mai eh. Na tui te kamah neh ka boiva long khaw ka ok atah a phu kam van paek bitni. Olka om mahpawh ka kho dongah ka kat uh mai eh,” a ti nah.
20 And he says, “You do not pass over”; and Edom comes out to meet him with many people and with a strong hand;
“Cet uh boeh,” a ti neh Edom te anih doe ham pilnam hlangping neh, tlungluen kut neh pawk.
21 and Edom refuses to permit Israel to pass over through his border, and Israel turns aside from off him.
Israel paek ham neh a khorhi long kat ham Edom loh a aal van neh Israel khaw a taeng lamloh hoi uh.
22 And the sons of Israel, all the congregation, journey from Kadesh and come to Mount Hor,
Kadesh lamloh a caeh uh phoeiah Israel ca rhaengpuei boeih Hor tlang la pawk uh.
23 and YHWH speaks to Moses and to Aaron in Mount Hor, on the border of the land of Edom, saying,
Edom khohmuen rhi kah Hor tlang ah BOEIPA loh Moses neh Aaron te a voek tih,
24 “Aaron is gathered to his people, for he does not go into the land which I have given to the sons of Israel, because that you provoked My mouth at the waters of Meribah.
“Aaron te a pilnam taengla khoem uh saeh. Meribah tui ah ka ol te nan koek uh dongah Israel ca rhoek taengah ka paek khohmuen la kun boel saeh.
25 Take Aaron and his son Eleazar, and cause them to go up Mount Hor,
Aaron neh a capa Eleazar te khuen lamtah Hor tlang cet.
26 and strip Aaron of his garments, and you have clothed his son Eleazar [with] them, and Aaron is gathered, and dies there.”
Aaron kah a himbai te pit pah lamtah a capa Eleazar te bai sak. Aaron tah duek vetih pahoi khoem uh pawn ni,” a ti nah.
27 And Moses does as YHWH has commanded, and they go up to Mount Hor before the eyes of all the congregation,
BOEIPA kah a uen bangla Moses loh a ngai tih rhaengpuei boeih kah mikhmuh ah Hor tlang la cet uh.
28 and Moses strips Aaron of his garments, and clothes his son Eleazar with them, and Aaron dies there on the top of the mountain; and Moses comes down—Eleazar also—from the mountain,
Te phoeiah Moses loh Aaron kah a himbai te a pit pah tih a capa Eleazar te a bai sak. Te vaengah Aaron tah tlang lu ah pahoi duek coeng tih Moses neh Eleazar bueng te tlang lamloh suntla rhoi.
29 and all the congregation sees that Aaron has expired, and all the house of Israel laments Aaron [for] thirty days.
