Numbers 17
1 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Och HERREN talade till Mose och sade:
2 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and take a rod from each of them, for a father’s house, from all their princes, for the house of their fathers—twelve rods; you write the name of each on his rod,
»Tala till Israels barn, och tag av dem, av alla som bland dem äro hövdingar för stamfamiljer, en stav för var stamfamilj, tillsammans tolv stavar. Vars och ens namn skall du skriva på hans stav.
3 and you write Aaron’s name on the tribe of Levi; for one rod [is] for the head of their fathers’ house.
Och Arons namn skall du skriva på Levi stav; ty huvudmannen för denna stams familjer skall hava sin särskilda stav.
4 And you have placed them in the Tent of Meeting before the Testimony, where I meet with you.
Sedan skall du lägga in dem i uppenbarelsetältet framför vittnesbördet, där jag uppenbarar mig för eder.
5 And it has come to pass, the man’s rod on whom I fix flourishes, and I have caused the murmurings of the sons of Israel, which they are murmuring against you, to cease from off Me.”
Då skall ske att den man som jag utväljer, hans stav skall grönska. Och så skall jag göra slut på Israels barns knorrande, så att jag slipper höra huru de knorra mot eder.»
6 And Moses speaks to the sons of Israel, and all their princes give to him one rod for a prince, one rod for a prince, for their fathers’ house—twelve rods; and the rod of Aaron [is] in the midst of their rods;
Och Mose talade till Israels barn, och hövdingarna för deras stamfamiljer gåvo honom alla var och en sin stav, tillsammans tolv stavar; och Arons stav var med bland deras stavar.
7 and Moses places the rods before YHWH in the Tent of the Testimony.
Och Mose lade stavarna inför HERRENS ansikte i vittnesbördets tält.
8 And it comes to pass, on the next day, that Moses goes into the Tent of the Testimony, and behold, the rod of Aaron has flourished for the house of Levi, and brings out a bud, and blossoms [with] a blossom, and produces almonds;
När nu Mose dagen därefter gick in i vittnesbördets tält, se, då grönskade Arons stav, som var där för Levi hus, den hade knoppar och utslagna blommor och mogna mandlar.
9 and Moses brings out all the rods from before YHWH to all the sons of Israel, and they look, and each takes his rod.
Och Mose bar alla stavarna ut från HERRENS ansikte till alla Israels barn; och de sågo på dem och togo var och en sin stav.
10 And YHWH says to Moses, “Put back the rod of Aaron before the Testimony, for a charge, for a sign to the sons of rebellion, and you remove their murmurings from off Me, and they do not die”;
Och HERREN sade till Mose: »Lägg Arons stav tillbaka framför vittnesbördet, för att den där må förvaras såsom ett tecken för de gensträviga; så skall du göra en ände på deras knorrande, så att jag slipper höra det, på det att de icke må dö.»
11 and Moses does as YHWH has commanded him; so he has done.
Och Mose gjorde så; såsom HERREN hade bjudit honom, så gjorde han.
12 And the sons of Israel speak to Moses, saying, “Behold, we have expired, we have perished, all of us have perished!
Och Israels barn ropade till Mose: »Se, vi omkomma, vi förgås, vi förgås allasammans!
13 Any who is at all drawing near to the Dwelling Place of YHWH dies; have we not been consumed—to expire?”
Var och en som kommer därvid, som kommer vid HERRENS tabernakel, han dör. Skola vi då verkligen alla omkomma?»
