< Numbers 15 >

1 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
2 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you have said to them: When you come into the land of your dwellings, which I am giving to you,
“Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: When you will have entered into the land of your habitation, which I will give you,
3 then you have prepared a fire-offering to YHWH, a burnt-offering or a sacrifice, for separating a vow or free-will offering, or in your appointed things, to make a refreshing fragrance to YHWH, out of the herd or out of the flock.
and you make an offering to the Lord, as a holocaust or as a victim, paying your vows, or as a voluntary offering of gifts, or in your solemnities, burning a sweet odor to the Lord, whether from the oxen or from the sheep:
4 And he who is bringing his offering near to YHWH has brought a present near of a tenth part of flour mixed with a fourth of the hin of oil;
whoever immolates the victim shall offer a sacrifice of fine wheat flour, the tenth part of an ephah, sprinkled with oil, which shall have the measure of the fourth part of a hin,
5 and you prepare a fourth of the hin of wine for a drink-offering, with the burnt-offering or for the sacrifice, for one lamb;
and he shall give the same measure of wine, poured out as libations, whether as a holocaust or as a victim.
6 or for a ram you prepare a present of two-tenth parts of flour mixed with a third of the hin of oil;
With each lamb and each ram, there shall be a sacrifice of fine wheat flour, of two tenths, which shall be sprinkled with one third part of a hin of oil.
7 and you bring a third part of the hin of wine near for a drink-offering—a refreshing fragrance to YHWH.
And he shall offer the same measure, one third part of wine, for the libation, as a sweet odor to the Lord.
8 And when you make a son of the herd a burnt-offering, or a sacrifice for separating a vow, or peace-offerings to YHWH,
Yet truly, when you will offer, from the oxen, a holocaust or a victim, in order to fulfill your vow or for peace-offering victims,
9 then he has brought near for the son of the herd a present of three-tenth parts of flour mixed with a half of the hin of oil;
you shall give, for each ox, three tenths of fine wheat flour, sprinkled with oil, which has the measure of one half of one hin,
10 and you bring a half of the hin of wine near for a drink-offering, [for] a fire-offering of refreshing fragrance to YHWH;
and the wine, poured out as libations, shall be of the same measure, as an oblation of most sweet odor to the Lord.
11 thus it is done for one ox, or for one ram, or for a lamb of the sheep or of the goats.
So shall you do
12 According to the number that you prepare, so you do to each, according to their number;
for each ox, and ram, and lamb, and young goat.
13 every native does thus with these, for bringing a fire-offering near of refreshing fragrance to YHWH;
Both natives and sojourners
14 and when a sojourner sojourns with you, or whoever [is] in your midst throughout your generations, and he has made a fire-offering of refreshing fragrance to YHWH, as you do so he does.
shall offer sacrifices by the same rituals.
15 One statute is for you of the congregation and for the sojourner who is sojourning, a continuous statute throughout your generations: as you [are] so is the sojourner before YHWH;
There shall be one precept and one judgment, as much for yourselves as for newcomers to the land.”
16 one law and one ordinance is for you and for the sojourner who is sojourning with you.”
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
17 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
“Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them:
18 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you have said to them: In your coming into the land to where I am bringing you in,
When you will arrive in the land which I will give to you,
19 then it has been, in your eating of the bread of the land, you raise up a raised-offering to YHWH;
and when you will eat from the bread of that region, you shall separate the first-fruits to the Lord
20 you raise up a cake of the first of your dough [as] a raised-offering; as the raised-offering of a threshing-floor, so you raise it up.
from the foods that you eat. Just as you separate the first-fruits of your threshing floors,
21 You give to YHWH from the first of your dough [as] a raised-offering throughout your generations.
so also shall you give the first-fruits of your cooked grains to the Lord.
22 And when you err, and do not do all these commands which YHWH has spoken to Moses—
And if, through ignorance, you neglect any of these things, which the Lord has spoken to Moses,
23 the whole that YHWH has charged on you by the hand of Moses, from the day that YHWH has commanded and from now on, throughout your generations—
and which he has commanded through him for you, from the day that he began to command and thereafter,
24 then it has been, if from the eyes of the congregation it has been done through ignorance, that all the congregation has prepared one bullock, a son of the herd, for a burnt-offering, for refreshing fragrance to YHWH, and its present, and its drink-offering, according to the ordinance, and one kid of the goats for a sin-offering.
and if the multitude will have forgotten to do it, then they shall offer a calf from the herd, a holocaust as a most sweet odor to the Lord, and its sacrifice and libations, just as the ceremonies ask, and a he-goat for sin.
25 And the priest has made atonement for all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and it has been forgiven them, for it [is] ignorance, and they have brought in their offering, a fire-offering to YHWH, and their sin-offering before YHWH for their ignorance;
And the priest shall pray for the entire multitude of the sons of Israel, and it shall be forgiven them, because they did not sin willfully. Nevertheless, they shall offer incense to the Lord for themselves, and for sin, as well as for their error.
26 and it has been forgiven to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and to the sojourner who is sojourning in their midst, for that all the people [did it] through ignorance.
And it shall be forgiven all the people of the sons of Israel, as well as the newcomers who sojourn among them, for it is the culpability of all the people through neglect.
27 And if one person sins through ignorance, then he has brought a female goat near, daughter of a year, for a sin-offering;
But if one soul will have sinned by not knowing, he shall offer a one-year-old she-goat for his sin.
28 and the priest has made atonement for the person who is erring, in his sinning through ignorance before YHWH, by making atonement for him, and it has been forgiven him;
And the priest shall pray for him, because he sinned unknowingly before the Lord. And he shall obtain pardon for him, and it will be forgiven him.
29 one law is for yourselves—for the native among the sons of Israel and for the sojourner who is sojourning in their midst—for him who is doing [anything] through ignorance.
One law shall be for all who sin by ignorance, as much for natives as for newcomers.
30 And the person who does [evil] with a high hand—of the native or of the sojourner—he is reviling YHWH, and that person has been cut off from the midst of his people;
Yet truly, the soul who commits any of these acts through arrogance, whether he is a citizen or a sojourner, because he has rebelled against the Lord, shall perish from among his people.
31 because he despised the word of YHWH and has broken His command, that person is certainly cut off; his iniquity [is] on him.”
For he has despised the word of the Lord, and he has nullified his precept. For this reason, he shall be destroyed, and he shall bear his iniquity.”
32 And the sons of Israel are in the wilderness, and they find a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day,
And it happened that, when the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, and they had found a man collecting wood on the day of the Sabbath,
33 and those finding him gathering wood bring him near to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation,
they brought him to Moses and Aaron, and to the whole multitude.
34 and they place him in confinement, for it [is] not explained what is [to be] done to him.
And they enclosed him in a prison, not knowing what they should do with him.
35 And YHWH says to Moses, “The man is certainly put to death [by] all the congregation stoning him with stones at the outside of the camp.”
And the Lord said to Moses, “Let that man be put to death; let the entire crowd crush him with stones, outside the camp.”
36 And all the congregation brings him out to the outside of the camp and stone him with stones, and he dies, as YHWH has commanded Moses.
And when they had led him out, they overwhelmed him with stones, and he died, just as the Lord had instructed.
37 And YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
The Lord also said to Moses:
38 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you have commanded to them, and they have made fringes on the skirts of their garments for themselves, throughout their generations, and they have put a ribbon of blue on the fringe of the skirt,
“Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall tell them to make for themselves hems at the corners of their cloaks, placing in them ribbons of hyacinth,
39 and it has been to you for a fringe, and you have seen it, and have remembered all the commands of YHWH, and have done them, and you do not search after your heart and after your eyes, after which you are going whoring,
so that, when they see these, they may remember all the commandments of the Lord, and they may not follow their own thoughts and eyes, fornicating in various ways,
40 so that you remember and have done all My commands, and you have been holy to your God.
but instead, they, being more mindful of the precepts of the Lord, may do them and may be holy to their God.
41 I [am] your God YHWH, who has brought you out from the land of Egypt to become your God; I [am] your God YHWH.”
I am the Lord your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, so that I may be your God.”
