Numbers 14

1 And all the congregation lifts up, and they give forth their voice, and the people weep during that night;

അപ്പോൾ സഭയൊക്കെയും ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചു, ജനം ആ രാത്രി മുഴുവനും കരഞ്ഞു.

2 and all the sons of Israel murmur against Moses and against Aaron, and all the congregation says to them, “O that we had died in the land of Egypt, or in this wilderness, O that we had died!

യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ എല്ലാവരും മോശെക്കും അഹരോന്നും വിരോധമായി പിറുപിറുത്തു; സഭ ഒക്കെയും അവരോടു: മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുവെച്ചു ഞങ്ങൾ മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്നു എങ്കിൽ കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു. അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഈ മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു ഞങ്ങൾ മരിച്ചുപോയിരുന്നു എങ്കിൽ കൊള്ളായിരുന്നു.

3 And why is YHWH bringing us to this land to fall by the sword, [that] our wives and our infants become a prey? Is it not good for us to return to Egypt?”

വാളാൽ വീഴേണ്ടതിന്നു യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളെ ആ ദേശത്തിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? ഞങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരും മക്കളും കൊള്ളയായ്പോകുമല്ലോ; മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകയല്ലയോ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു നല്ലതു? എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

4 And they say to one another, “Let us appoint a head and return to Egypt.”

നാം ഒരു തലവനെ നിശ്ചയിച്ചു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോക എന്നും അവർ തമ്മിൽതമ്മിൽ പറഞ്ഞു.

5 And Moses falls—Aaron also—on their faces, before all the assembly of the congregation of the sons of Israel.

അപ്പോൾ മോശെയും അഹരോനും യിസ്രായേൽസഭയുടെ സർവ്വസംഘത്തിന്റെയും മുമ്പാകെ കവിണ്ണുവീണു.

6 And Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh, of those spying out the land, have torn their garments,

ദേശത്തെ ഒറ്റുനോക്കിയവരിൽ നൂന്റെ മകൻ യോശുവയും യെഫുന്നയുടെ മകൻ കാലേബും വസ്ത്രം കീറി,

7 and they speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, “The land into which we have passed over to spy it out [is] a very, very good land;

യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളുടെ സർവ്വസഭയോടും പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാൽ: ഞങ്ങൾ സഞ്ചരിച്ചു ഒറ്റു നോക്കിയ ദേശം എത്രയും നല്ലദേശം ആകുന്നു.

8 if YHWH has delighted in us, then He has brought us into this land, and has given it to us, a land which is flowing with milk and honey;

യഹോവ നമ്മിൽ പ്രസാദിക്കുന്നു എങ്കിൽ അവൻ നമ്മെ പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്ന ആ ദേശത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുചെന്നു നമുക്കു അതു തരും.

9 only, do not rebel against YHWH: and you, do not fear the people of the land, for they [are] our bread; their defense has turned aside from off them, and YHWH [is] with us; do not fear them.”

യഹോവയോടു നിങ്ങൾ മത്സരിക്കമാത്രം അരുതു; ആ ദേശത്തിലെ ജനത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു; അവർ നമുക്കു ഇരയാകുന്നു; അവരുടെ ശരണം പോയ്പോയിരിക്കുന്നു; നമ്മോടുകൂടെ യഹോവ ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ടു അവരെ ഭയപ്പെടരുതു.

10 And all the congregation says to stone them with stones, and the glory of YHWH has appeared in the Tent of Meeting to all the sons of Israel.

എന്നാറെ അവരെ കല്ലെറിയേണം എന്നു സഭയെല്ലാം പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ തേജസ്സു സമാഗമനകൂടാരത്തിൽ എല്ലായിസ്രായേൽമക്കളും കാൺകെ പ്രത്യക്ഷമായി.

11 And YHWH says to Moses, “Until when does this people despise Me? And until when do they not believe in Me, for all the signs which I have done in its midst?

യഹോവ മോശെയോടു: ഈ ജനം എത്രത്തോളം എന്നെ നിരസിക്കും? ഞാൻ അവരുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള അടയാളങ്ങളൊക്കെയും കണ്ടിട്ടും അവർ എത്രത്തോളം എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കാതിരിക്കും?

12 I strike it with pestilence, and dispossess it, and make you become a nation greater and mightier than it.”

ഞാൻ അവരെ മഹാമാരിയാൽ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു സംഹരിച്ചുകളകയും നിന്നെ അവരെക്കാൾ വലിപ്പവും ബലവുമുള്ള ജാതിയാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

13 And Moses says to YHWH, “Then the Egyptians have heard! For with Your power You have brought up this people out of their midst,

മോശെ യഹോവയോടു പറഞ്ഞതു: എന്നാൽ മിസ്രയീമ്യർ അതു കേൾക്കും; നീ ഈ ജനത്തെ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്നു നിന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ കൊണ്ടുപോന്നുവല്ലോ.

14 and they have said [it] to the inhabitant of this land, they have heard that You, YHWH, [are] in the midst of this people, that You are seen eye to eye—O YHWH, and Your cloud is standing over them—and in a pillar of cloud You are going before them by day, and in a pillar of fire by night.

അവർ അതു ഈ ദേശനിവാസികളോടും പറയും; യഹോവയായ നീ ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ മദ്ധ്യേ ഉണ്ടെന്നു അവർ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; യഹോവയായ നിന്നെ ഇവർ കണ്ണാലേ കാണുകയും നിന്റെ മേഘം ഇവർക്കു മീതെ നില്ക്കുകയും പകൽ മേഘസ്തംഭത്തിലും രാത്രി അഗ്നിസ്തംഭത്തിലും നീ ഇവർക്കു മുമ്പായി നടക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നുവല്ലോ.

15 And You have put to death this people as one man, and the nations who have heard Your fame have spoken, saying,

നീ ഇപ്പോൾ ഈ ജനത്തെ ഒക്കെയും ഒരു ഒറ്റമനുഷ്യനെപ്പോലെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞാൽ നിന്റെ കീർത്തി കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന ജാതികൾ:

16 From YHWH’s want of ability to bring in this people to the land which He has sworn to them, He slaughters them in the wilderness.

ഈ ജനത്തോടു സത്യം ചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു അവരെ കൊണ്ടു പോകുവാൻ യഹോവെക്കു കഴിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു അവൻ അവരെ മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പറയും.

17 And now, please let the power of my Lord be great, as You have spoken, saying,

യഹോവ ദീർഘക്ഷമയും മഹാദയയും ഉള്ളവൻ; അകൃത്യവും ലംഘനവും ക്ഷമിക്കുന്നവൻ; കുറ്റക്കാരനെ വെറുതെ വിടാതെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ അകൃത്യം മൂന്നാമത്തെയും നാലാമത്തെയും തലമുറയോളം മക്കളുടെ മേൽ സന്ദർശിക്കുന്നവൻ

18 YHWH [is] slow to anger and of great kindness, bearing away iniquity and transgression, and not entirely acquitting, charging iniquity of fathers on sons, on a third and on a fourth [generation]—

എന്നിങ്ങനെ നീ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതുപോലെ കർത്താവേ, ഇപ്പോൾ നിന്റെ ശക്തി വലുതായിരിക്കേണമേ.

19 please forgive the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of Your kindness, and as You have borne with this people from Egypt, even until now.”

നിന്റെ മഹാദയെക്കു തക്കവണ്ണം മിസ്രയീംമുതൽ ഇവിടംവരെ ഈ ജനത്തോടു നീ ക്ഷമിച്ചുവന്നതുപോലെ ഈ ജനത്തിന്റെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ.

20 And YHWH says, “I have forgiven according to your word,

അതിന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു: നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷപ്രകാരം ഞാൻ ക്ഷമിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

21 but nevertheless, as I live, indeed, the whole earth is filled [with] the glory of YHWH,

എങ്കിലും എന്നാണ, ഭൂമിയെല്ലാം യഹോവയുടെ തേജസ്സുകൊണ്ടു നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കും.

22 for all the men who are seeing My glory and My signs which I have done in Egypt and in the wilderness, and try Me these ten times, and have not listened to My voice—

എന്റെ തേജസ്സും മിസ്രയീമിലും മരുഭൂമിയിലുംവെച്ചു ഞാൻ ചെയ്ത അടയാളങ്ങളും കണ്ടിട്ടുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാർ എല്ലാവരും ഇപ്പോൾ പത്തു പ്രാവശ്യം എന്നെ പരീക്ഷിക്കയും എന്റെ വാക്കു കൂട്ടാക്കാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്തതുകൊണ്ടു

23 they do not see the land which I have sworn to their fathers, indeed, none of those despising Me see it;

അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ഞാൻ സത്യം ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള ദേശം അവർ കാൺകയില്ല; എന്നെ നിരസിച്ചവർ ആരും അതു കാൺകയില്ല.

24 but My servant Caleb, because there has been another spirit with him, and he is fully after Me—I have brought him into the land to where he has entered, and his seed possesses it.

എന്റെ ദാസനായ കാലേബോ, അവന്നു വേറൊരു സ്വഭാവമുള്ളതുകൊണ്ടും എന്നെ പൂർണ്ണമായി അനുസരിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടും അവൻ പോയിരുന്ന ദേശത്തേക്കു ഞാൻ അവനെ എത്തിക്കും; അവന്റെ സന്തതി അതു കൈവശമാക്കും.

25 And the Amalekite and the Canaanite are dwelling in the valley; tomorrow turn and journey for yourselves into the wilderness—the way of the Red Sea.”

എന്നാൽ അമാലേക്യരും കനാന്യരും താഴ്‌വരയിൽ പാർക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നിങ്ങൾ നാളെ ചെങ്കടലിങ്കലേക്കുള്ള വഴിയായി മരുഭൂമിയിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകുവിൻ.

26 And YHWH speaks to Moses and to Aaron, saying,

യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടും അഹരോനോടും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു:

27 “Until when [do I bear] with this evil congregation—they who are murmuring against Me? The murmurings of the sons of Israel, which they are murmuring against Me, I have heard;

ഈ ദുഷ്ടസഭ എത്രത്തോളം എനിക്കു വിരോധമായി പിറുപിറുക്കും? യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ എനിക്കു വിരോധമായി പിറുപിറുക്കുന്നതു ഞാൻ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

28 say to them: As I live—a declaration of YHWH—if, as you have spoken in My ears, do I not do so to you?

അവരോടു പറവിൻ: ഞാൻ കേൾക്കെ നിങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ തന്നേ, എന്നാണ, ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്യുമെന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

29 Your carcasses fall in this wilderness, even all your numbered ones, to all your number, from a son of twenty years and upward, who have murmured against Me;

ഈ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ ശവം വീഴും; യെഫുന്നയുടെ മകൻ കാലേബും നൂന്റെ മകൻ യോശുവയും ഒഴികെ ഇരുപതു വയസ്സുമുതൽ മേലോട്ടു എണ്ണപ്പെട്ടവരായി

30 you do not come into the land [for] which I have lifted up My hand to cause you to dwell in it, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

എന്റെ നേരെ പിറുപിറുത്തവരായ നിങ്ങളുടെ എണ്ണത്തിൽ ആരും ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളെ പാർപ്പിക്കുമെന്നു സത്യം ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ള ദേശത്തു കടക്കയില്ല.

31 As for your infants—of whom you have said, They become a spoil—I have even brought them in, and they have known the land which you have kicked against;

എന്നാൽ കൊള്ളയായ്പോകുമെന്നു നിങ്ങൾ പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുള്ള നിങ്ങളുടെ കുഞ്ഞുകുട്ടികളെ ഞാൻ അതിൽ കടക്കുമാറാക്കും; നിങ്ങൾ നിരസിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ദേശം അവർ അറിയും.

32 as for you—your carcasses fall in this wilderness,

നിങ്ങളോ, നിങ്ങളുടെ ശവം ഈ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ വീഴും.

33 and your sons are shepherding in the wilderness [for] forty years, and have borne your whoredoms until your carcasses are consumed in the wilderness;

നിങ്ങളുടെ ശവം മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ഒടുങ്ങുംവരെ നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കൾ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം ഇടയരായി സഞ്ചരിച്ചു നിങ്ങളുടെ പാതിവ്രത്യഭംഗം വഹിക്കും;

34 by the number of the days [in] which you spied out the land, forty days—a day for a year, a day for a year—you bear your iniquities [for] forty years, and you have known My opposition;

ദേശം ഒറ്റു നോക്കിയ നാല്പതു ദിവസത്തിന്റെ എണ്ണത്തിന്നൊത്തവണ്ണം, ഒരു ദിവസത്തിന്നു ഒരു സംവത്സരം വീതം, നാല്പതു സംവത്സരം നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളുടെ അകൃത്യങ്ങൾ വഹിച്ചു എന്റെ അകല്ച അറിയും.

35 I, YHWH, have spoken; if, nonetheless, I do this to all this evil congregation who are meeting against Me—they are consumed in this wilderness, and there they die.”

എനിക്കു വിരോധമായി കൂട്ടംകൂടിയ ഈ ദുഷ്ടസഭയോടു ഞാൻ ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യും: ഈ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ അവർ ഒടുങ്ങും; ഇവിടെ അവർ മരിക്കും എന്നു യഹോവയായ ഞാൻ കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.

36 Then the men whom Moses has sent to spy out the land, [who] then return and cause all the congregation to murmur against him by bringing out an evil account concerning the land,

ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാൻ മോശെ അയച്ചവരും, മടങ്ങിവന്നു ദേശത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുർവ്വർത്തമാനം പറഞ്ഞു സഭ മുഴുവനും അവന്നു വിരോധമായി പിറുപിറുപ്പാൻ സംഗതി വരുത്തിയ വരും,

37 even the men bringing out an evil account of the land, they die by the plague before YHWH;

ദേശത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു ദുർവ്വർത്തമാനം പറഞ്ഞവരുമായ പുരുഷന്മാർ യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒരു ബാധകൊണ്ടു മരിച്ചു.

38 and Joshua son of Nun and Caleb son of Jephunneh have lived, of those men who go to spy out the land.

എന്നാൽ ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കുവാൻ പോയ പുരുഷന്മാരിൽ നൂന്റെ മകൻ യോശുവയും യെഫുന്നയുടെ പുത്രൻ കാലേബും മരിച്ചില്ല.

39 And Moses speaks these words to all the sons of Israel, and the people mourn exceedingly,

പിന്നെ മോശെ ഈ വാക്കുകൾ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കളോടൊക്കെയും പറഞ്ഞു; ജനം ഏറ്റവും ദുഃഖിച്ചു.

40 and they rise early in the morning, and go up to the top of the mountain, saying, “Here we [are], and we have come up to the place which YHWH has spoken of, for we have sinned.”

പിറ്റേന്നു അവർ അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു: ഇതാ, യഹോവ ഞങ്ങൾക്കു ചൊല്ലിയിരിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു ഞങ്ങൾ കയറിപ്പോകുന്നു: ഞങ്ങൾ പാപം ചെയ്തുപോയി എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു മലമുകളിൽ കയറി.

41 And Moses says, “Why [is] this [that] you are transgressing the command of YHWH? For it does not prosper;

അപ്പോൾ മോശെ: നിങ്ങൾ എന്തിന്നു യഹോവയുടെ കല്പന ലംഘിക്കുന്നു? അതു സാദ്ധ്യമാകയില്ല.

42 do not go up, for YHWH is not in your midst, and you are not struck before your enemies;

ശത്രുക്കളാൽ തോൽക്കാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങൾ കയറരുതു; യഹോവ നിങ്ങളുടെ മദ്ധ്യേ ഇല്ല.

43 for the Amalekite and the Canaanite [are] there before you, and you have fallen by the sword, because that you have turned back from after YHWH, and YHWH is not with you.”

അമാലേക്യരും കനാന്യരും അവിടെ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പിൽ ഉണ്ടു; നിങ്ങൾ വാളാൽ വീഴും; നിങ്ങൾ യഹോവയെ വിട്ടു പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കയില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

44 And they presume to go up to the top of the mountain, but the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH, and Moses, have not departed out of the midst of the camp.

എന്നിട്ടും അവർ ധാർഷ്ട്യം പൂണ്ടു മലമുകളിൽ കയറി; യഹോവയുടെ നിയമപെട്ടകവും മോശെയും പാളയത്തിൽനിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടില്ലതാനും.

45 And the Amalekite and the Canaanite who are dwelling in that mountain come down and strike them, and beat them down to Hormah.

എന്നാറെ മലയിൽ പാർത്തിരുന്ന അമാലേക്യരും കനാന്യരും ഇറങ്ങിവന്നു അവരെ തോല്പിച്ചു ഹോർമ്മാവരെ അവരെ ഛിന്നിച്ചു ഓടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
