Numbers 12
1 And Miriam speaks—Aaron also—against Moses concerning the circumstance of the Cushite woman whom he had taken, for he had taken a Cushite woman;
モーセはクシの女をめとっていたが、そのクシの女をめとったゆえをもって、ミリアムとアロンはモーセを非難した。
2 and they say, “Has YHWH only spoken by Moses? Has he not also spoken by us?” And YHWH hears.
彼らは言った、「主はただモーセによって語られるのか。われわれによっても語られるのではないのか」。主はこれを聞かれた。
3 And the man Moses [is] very humble, more than any of the men who [are] on the face of the ground.
モーセはその人となり柔和なこと、地上のすべての人にまさっていた。
4 And YHWH suddenly says to Moses, and to Aaron, and to Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the Tent of Meeting”; and those three come out.
そこで、主は突然モーセとアロン、およびミリアムにむかって「あなたがた三人、会見の幕屋に出てきなさい」と言われたので、彼ら三人は出てきたが、
5 And YHWH comes down in the pillar of the cloud, and stands at the opening of the tent, and calls Aaron and Miriam, and both of them come out.
主は雲の柱のうちにあって下り、幕屋の入口に立って、アロンとミリアムを呼ばれた。彼らふたりが進み出ると、
6 And He says, “Now hear My words: If your prophet is of YHWH, I make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak with him in a dream.
彼らに言われた、「あなたがたは、いま、わたしの言葉を聞きなさい。あなたがたのうちに、もし、預言者があるならば、主なるわたしは幻をもって、これにわたしを知らせ、また夢をもって、これと語るであろう。
7 Not so My servant Moses; He [is] steadfast in all My house.
しかし、わたしのしもべモーセとは、そうではない。彼はわたしの全家に忠信なる者である。
8 I speak with him mouth to mouth, Even [by] an appearance, and not in riddles; And he beholds the form of YHWH attentively. Now why have you not been afraid To speak against My servant—against Moses?”
彼とは、わたしは口ずから語り、明らかに言って、なぞを使わない。彼はまた主の形を見るのである。なぜ、あなたがたはわたしのしもべモーセを恐れず非難するのか」。
9 And the anger of YHWH burns against them, and He goes on,
主は彼らにむかい怒りを発して去られた。
10 and the cloud has turned aside from off the tent, and behold, Miriam [is] leprous as snow; and Aaron turns to Miriam, and behold, leprous!
雲が幕屋の上を離れ去った時、ミリアムは、らい病となり、その身は雪のように白くなった。アロンがふり返ってミリアムを見ると、彼女はらい病になっていた。
11 And Aaron says to Moses, “O my lord, please do not lay [this] sin on us [in] which we have been foolish, and [in] which we have sinned;
そこで、アロンはモーセに言った、「ああ、わが主よ、わたしたちは愚かなことをして罪を犯しました。どうぞ、その罰をわたしたちに受けさせないでください。
12 please do not let her be as [one] dead, when in his coming out from the womb of his mother—the half of his flesh is consumed.”
どうぞ彼女を母の胎から肉が半ば滅びうせて出る死人のようにしないでください」。
13 And Moses cries to YHWH, saying, “O God, please give healing to her! Please!”
その時モーセは主に呼ばわって言った、「ああ、神よ、どうぞ彼女をいやしてください」。
14 And YHWH says to Moses, “But [if] her father had but spat in her face—is she not ashamed [for] seven days? She is shut out [for] seven days at the outside of the camp, and afterward she is gathered.”
主はモーセに言われた、「彼女の父が彼女の顔につばきしてさえ、彼女は七日のあいだ、恥じて身を隠すではないか。彼女を七日のあいだ、宿営の外で閉じこめておかなければならない。その後、連れもどしてもよい」。
15 And Miriam is shut out at the outside of the camp [for] seven days, and the people have not journeyed until Miriam is gathered;
そこでミリアムは七日のあいだ、宿営の外で閉じこめられた。民はミリアムが連れもどされるまでは、道に進まなかった。
16 and afterward the people have journeyed from Hazeroth, and they encamp in the wilderness of Paran.
その後、民はハゼロテを立って進み、パランの荒野に宿営した。
