Numbers 1
1 And YHWH speaks to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first of the second month, in the second year of their going out of the land of Egypt, saying,
Bwana alisema na Mose katika Jangwa la Sinai, katika Hema la Kukutania, siku ya kwanza ya mwezi wa pili, katika mwaka wa pili baada ya Waisraeli kutoka nchi ya Misri. Akamwambia,
2 “Take a census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names—every male by their counted heads;
“Hesabu watu wa jumuiya yote ya Waisraeli kwa kufuata koo zao na jamaa zao, ukiorodhesha kila mwanaume kwa jina lake, mmoja mmoja.
3 from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host in Israel, you number them by their hosts, you and Aaron;
Wewe na Aroni mtawahesabu kwa migawanyo yao wanaume wote katika Israeli wenye miaka ishirini na kuendelea ambao wanaweza kutumika katika jeshi.
4 and with you there is a man for a tribe, each is a head of the house of his fathers.
Mwanaume mmoja kutoka kila kabila, kila aliye kiongozi wa jamaa yake, atawasaidia.
5 And these [are] the names of the men who stand with you: for Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;
Haya ndiyo majina ya wanaume watakaowasaidia: “kutoka Reubeni, ni Elisuri mwana wa Shedeuri;
6 for Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;
kutoka Simeoni, ni Shelumieli mwana wa Surishadai;
7 for Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab;
kutoka Yuda, ni Nashoni mwana wa Aminadabu;
8 for Issachar, Nathaneel son of Zuar;
kutoka Isakari, ni Nethaneli mwana wa Suari;
9 for Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon;
kutoka Zabuloni, ni Eliabu mwana wa Heloni;
10 for the sons of Joseph: for Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud; for Manasseh, Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;
kutoka wana wa Yosefu: kutoka Efraimu, ni Elishama mwana wa Amihudi; kutoka Manase, ni Gamalieli mwana wa Pedasuri;
11 for Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;
kutoka Benyamini, ni Abidani mwana wa Gideoni;
12 for Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;
kutoka Dani, ni Ahiezeri mwana wa Amishadai;
13 for Asher, Pagiel son of Ocran;
kutoka Asheri, ni Pagieli mwana wa Okrani;
14 for Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;
kutoka Gadi, ni Eliasafu mwana wa Deueli;
15 for Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.”
kutoka Naftali, ni Ahira mwana wa Enani.”
16 These [are] those called of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers; they [are] heads of the thousands of Israel.
Hawa walikuwa wanaume walioteuliwa kutoka jumuiya, viongozi wa makabila ya baba zao. Walikuwa wakuu wa koo za Israeli.
17 And Moses takes—Aaron also—these men, who were defined by name,
Mose na Aroni wakawachukua wanaume hao waliokuwa wamepewa majina yao,
18 and they assembled all the congregation on the first of the second month, and they declare their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names from a son of twenty years and upward, by their counted heads,
wakaita jumuiya yote pamoja katika siku ya kwanza ya mwezi wa pili. Watu wakaonyesha nasaba zao kwa koo zao na jamaa zao, nao wanaume waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, mmoja mmoja,
19 as YHWH has commanded Moses; and he numbers them in the wilderness of Sinai.
kama Bwana alivyomwagiza Mose. Hivyo aliwahesabu katika Jangwa la Sinai:
20 And the sons of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, by their counted heads, every male from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Reubeni, mzaliwa wa kwanza wa kiume wa Israeli: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, mmoja mmoja, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
21 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Reuben, are forty-six thousand and five hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Reubeni ilikuwa watu 46,500.
22 Of the sons of Simeon—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, its numbered ones in the number of names, by their counted heads, every male from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Simeoni: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi walihesabiwa na kuorodheshwa kwa majina, mmoja mmoja, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
23 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Simeon, [are] fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Simeoni walikuwa watu 59,300.
24 Of the sons of Gad—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Gadi: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
25 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Gad, [are] forty-five thousand and six hundred and fifty.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Gadi walikuwa watu 45,650.
26 Of the sons of Judah—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Yuda: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
27 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Judah, [are] seventy-four thousand and six hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Yuda walikuwa watu 74,600.
28 Of the sons of Issachar—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Isakari: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
29 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Issachar, [are] fifty-four thousand and four hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Isakari walikuwa watu 54,400.
30 Of the sons of Zebulun—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Zabuloni: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
31 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Zebulun, [are] fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Zabuloni walikuwa watu 57,400.
32 Of the sons of Joseph: of the sons of Ephraim—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wana wa Yosefu: Kutoka wazao wa Efraimu: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
33 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Ephraim, [are] forty thousand and five hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Efraimu walikuwa watu 40,500.
34 Of the sons of Manasseh—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Manase: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
35 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Manasseh, [are] thirty-two thousand and two hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Manase walikuwa watu 32,200.
36 Of the sons of Benjamin—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Benyamini: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
37 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Benjamin, [are] thirty-five thousand and four hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Benyamini walikuwa watu 35,400.
38 Of the sons of Dan—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Dani: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
39 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Dan, [are] sixty-two thousand and seven hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Dani walikuwa watu 62,700.
40 Of the sons of Asher—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Asheri: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
41 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Asher, [are] forty-one thousand and five hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Asheri walikuwa watu 41,500.
42 Of the sons of Naphtali—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Kutoka wazao wa Naftali: Wanaume wote waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi waliorodheshwa kwa majina, kufuatana na kumbukumbu za koo zao na jamaa zao.
43 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Naphtali, [are] fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
Idadi kutoka kabila la Naftali walikuwa watu 53,400.
44 These [are] those numbered, whom Moses numbered—Aaron also—and the princes of Israel, twelve men, each one has been [the representative] for the house of his fathers.
Hawa walikuwa wanaume waliohesabiwa na Mose, Aroni na viongozi kumi na wawili wa Israeli, kila mmoja akiwakilisha jamaa yake.
45 And they are, all those numbered of the sons of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host in Israel,
Wanaume wote Waisraeli waliokuwa na miaka ishirini au zaidi ambao waliweza kutumika katika jeshi la Israeli walihesabiwa kufuatana na jamaa zao.
46 indeed, all those numbered are six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
Jumla ya hesabu yao ilikuwa watu 603,550.
47 And the Levites, for the tribe of their fathers, have not numbered themselves in their midst,
Hata hivyo, jamaa ya kabila la Lawi hawakuhesabiwa pamoja na wengine.
48 seeing YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Bwana alikuwa amemwambia Mose:
49 “Only the tribe of Levi you do not number, and you do not take up their census in the midst of the sons of Israel;
“Kamwe usihesabu kabila la Lawi wala kuwaweka pamoja katika hesabu ya Waisraeli wengine.
50 and you, appoint the Levites over the Dwelling Place of the Testimony, and over all its vessels, and over all that it has; they carry the Dwelling Place, and all its vessels, and they serve it; and they encamp around the Dwelling Place.
Badala yake, waweke Walawi kuwa viongozi wa Maskani ya Ushuhuda, juu ya samani zake na kila kitu kilichomo ndani yake. Wao watabeba Maskani na samani zake zote; wataitunza na kupiga kambi kuizunguka.
51 And in the journeying of the Dwelling Place, the Levites take it down, and in the encamping of the Dwelling Place, the Levites raise it up; and the stranger who is coming near is put to death.”
Wakati wowote Maskani inapohamishwa, Walawi wataifungua, na wakati wowote maskani inapotakiwa kusimamishwa, Walawi watafanya kazi hiyo. Mtu yeyote mwingine ambaye atasogea karibu nayo atauawa.
52 And the sons of Israel have encamped, each by his camp, and each by his standard, by their hosts;
Waisraeli watapiga mahema yao kwa makundi makundi, kila mwanaume katika kambi yake mwenyewe chini ya bendera yake.
53 and the Levites encamp around the Dwelling Place of the Testimony; and there is no wrath on the congregation of the sons of Israel, and the Levites have kept the charge of the Dwelling Place of the Testimony.
Hata hivyo, Walawi watapiga mahema yao kuzunguka Maskani ya Ushuhuda ili ghadhabu isiipate jumuiya ya Waisraeli. Walawi watawajibika kwa utunzaji wa Maskani ya Ushuhuda.”
54 And the sons of Israel do according to all that YHWH has commanded Moses; so they have done.
Waisraeli walifanya yote haya sawasawa kama Bwana alivyomwamuru Mose.
