Numbers 1
1 And YHWH speaks to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the Tent of Meeting, on the first of the second month, in the second year of their going out of the land of Egypt, saying,
Erga sabni Israaʼel biyya Gibxiitii baʼee booddee waggaa lammaffaa keessaa, guyyaa jalqaba jiʼa lammaffaatti Waaqayyo dunkaana wal gaʼii keessatti, Gammoojjii Siinaa keessatti Museetti dubbate. Innis akkana jedheen;
2 “Take a census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names—every male by their counted heads;
“Waldaa saba Israaʼel hunda lakkaaʼaatii balbala balbalaanii fi maatii maatiidhaan maqaa dhiirotaa tokko tokkoon barreessaa.
3 from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host in Israel, you number them by their hosts, you and Aaron;
Namoota Israaʼel keessaa dhiirota umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen lola dhaquu dandaʼan hunda atii fi Aroon kutaa kutaa isaaniitiin lakkaaʼaa.
4 and with you there is a man for a tribe, each is a head of the house of his fathers.

5 And these [are] the names of the men who stand with you: for Reuben, Elizur son of Shedeur;
“Maqaan namoota isin gargaaruu qabanii kanneenii dha: “Gosa Ruubeen keessaa Eliizuur ilma Shedeeʼuur;
6 for Simeon, Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai;
gosa Simiʼoon keessaa Shilumiiʼeel ilma Zuriishadaayi;
7 for Judah, Nahshon son of Amminadab;
gosa Yihuudaa keessaa Nahishoon ilma Amiinaadaab;
8 for Issachar, Nathaneel son of Zuar;
gosa Yisaakor keessaa Naatnaaʼel ilma Zuuwaar;
9 for Zebulun, Eliab son of Helon;
gosa Zebuuloon keessaa Eliiyaab ilma Heeloon;
10 for the sons of Joseph: for Ephraim, Elishama son of Ammihud; for Manasseh, Gamaliel son of Pedahzur;
ilmaan Yoosef keessaa: gosa Efreem keessaa Eliishaamaa ilma Amiihuud; gosa Minaasee keessaa Gamaaliʼeel ilma Phedaasuur;
11 for Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni;
gosa Beniyaam keessaa Abiidaan ilma Gaadeyoon,
12 for Dan, Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai;
gosa Daan keessaa Ahiiʼezer ilma Amiishadaay;
13 for Asher, Pagiel son of Ocran;
gosa Aasheer keessaa Fagiʼeel ilma Okraan;
14 for Gad, Eliasaph son of Deuel;
gosa Gaad keessaa Eliyaasaaf ilma Deʼuuʼeel;
15 for Naphtali, Ahira son of Enan.”
gosa Niftaalem keessaa Ahiiraa ilma Eenaan.”
16 These [are] those called of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers; they [are] heads of the thousands of Israel.
Namoonni kunneen warra dura buʼoota gosoota abbootii isaanii taʼanii waldaa sana keessaa filatamanii dha. Isaanis hangafoota balbalawwan Israaʼel turan.
17 And Moses takes—Aaron also—these men, who were defined by name,
Musee fi Aroon namoota maqaan isaanii eerame kanneen fudhatanii,
18 and they assembled all the congregation on the first of the second month, and they declare their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names from a son of twenty years and upward, by their counted heads,
guyyaa jalqaba jiʼa lammaffaatti waldaa hunda walitti waaman. Namoonni sunis akkuma balbalaa fi maatii isaaniitti hidda dhaloota isaanii himatan; dhiironni umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii maqaan isaanii tokko tokkoon galmeeffame;
19 as YHWH has commanded Moses; and he numbers them in the wilderness of Sinai.

20 And the sons of Reuben, Israel’s firstborn—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, by their counted heads, every male from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Sanyii Ruubeen ilma Israaʼel hangaftichaa keessaa: Dhiironni umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen lola dhaquu dandaʼan hundinuu akkuma galmee balbalaa fi maatii isaaniitti tokko tokkoon maqaa maqaadhaan barreeffaman.
21 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Reuben, are forty-six thousand and five hundred.

22 Of the sons of Simeon—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, its numbered ones in the number of names, by their counted heads, every male from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Sanyii Simiʼoon keessaa: Dhiironni umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen lola dhaquu dandaʼan hundinuu akkuma galmee balbalaa fi maatii isaaniitti tokko tokkoon maqaa maqaadhaan barreeffaman.
23 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Simeon, [are] fifty-nine thousand and three hundred.

24 Of the sons of Gad—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Sanyii Gaad keessaa: Dhiironni umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen lola dhaquu dandaʼan hundinuu akkuma galmee balbalaa fi maatii isaaniitti maqaa maqaadhaan barreeffaman.
25 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Gad, [are] forty-five thousand and six hundred and fifty.

27 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Judah, [are] seventy-four thousand and six hundred.

28 Of the sons of Issachar—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Sanyii Yisaakor keessaa: Dhiironni umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen lola dhaquu dandaʼan hundinuu akkuma galmee balbalaa fi maatii isaaniitti maqaa maqaadhaan barreeffaman.
29 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Issachar, [are] fifty-four thousand and four hundred.

30 Of the sons of Zebulun—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Sanyii Zebuuloon keessaa: Dhiironni umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen lola dhaquu dandaʼan hundinuu akkuma galmeewwan balbalaa fi maatii isaaniitti maqaa maqaadhaan barreeffaman.
31 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Zebulun, [are] fifty-seven thousand and four hundred.

32 Of the sons of Joseph: of the sons of Ephraim—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Ilmaan Yoosef keessaa: Sanyii Efreem keessaa: Dhiironni umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen lola dhaquu dandaʼan hundinuu akkuma galmee balbalaa fi maatii isaaniitti maqaa maqaadhaan barreeffaman.
33 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Ephraim, [are] forty thousand and five hundred.

35 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Manasseh, [are] thirty-two thousand and two hundred.

37 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Benjamin, [are] thirty-five thousand and four hundred.

39 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Dan, [are] sixty-two thousand and seven hundred.

Sanyii Aasheer keessaa: Dhiironni umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen lola dhaquu dandaʼan hundinuu akkuma galmee balbalaa fi maatii isaaniitti maqaa maqaadhaan barreeffaman.
41 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Asher, [are] forty-one thousand and five hundred.

42 Of the sons of Naphtali—their births, by their families, by the house of their fathers, in the number of names, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host—
Sanyii Niftaalem keessaa: Dhiironni umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen lola dhaquu dandaʼan hundinuu akkuma galmee balbalaa fi maatii isaanitti maqaa maqaadhaan barreeffaman.
43 their numbered ones, for the tribe of Naphtali, [are] fifty-three thousand and four hundred.
Baayʼinni gosa Niftaalem nama 53,400 ture.
44 These [are] those numbered, whom Moses numbered—Aaron also—and the princes of Israel, twelve men, each one has been [the representative] for the house of his fathers.

45 And they are, all those numbered of the sons of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone going out to the host in Israel,
Israaʼeloonni umuriin isaanii waggaa digdamaatii fi hammasii olii kanneen Israaʼel keessatti lolaaf baʼuu dandaʼan hundinuu akkuma maatii isaaniitti lakkaaʼaman.
46 indeed, all those numbered are six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
Walumaa galatti baayʼinni namaa 603,550 ture.
47 And the Levites, for the tribe of their fathers, have not numbered themselves in their midst,
Lewwonni garuu akka gosa abbootii isaaniitti warra kaan wajjin hin lakkaaʼamne.
48 seeing YHWH speaks to Moses, saying,
Waaqayyo Museedhaan akkana jedhee ture:
49 “Only the tribe of Levi you do not number, and you do not take up their census in the midst of the sons of Israel;
“Ati gosa Lewwii hin lakkaaʼin yookaan lakkoobsa saba Israaʼeloota kaaniitti hin dabalin.
50 and you, appoint the Levites over the Dwelling Place of the Testimony, and over all its vessels, and over all that it has; they carry the Dwelling Place, and all its vessels, and they serve it; and they encamp around the Dwelling Place.
Qooda kanaa akka Lewwonni itti gaafatamtoota dunkaana dhuga baʼumsaa, miʼa isaa hundaa fi waan inni qabu hundaa taʼaniif isaan muudi. Isaanis dunkaana qulqulluu fi miʼa isaa hunda haa baatan; dunkaanicha haa tajaajilan; naannoo isaas haa qubatan.
51 And in the journeying of the Dwelling Place, the Levites take it down, and in the encamping of the Dwelling Place, the Levites raise it up; and the stranger who is coming near is put to death.”
Yeroo dunkaanni qulqulluun deemuu qabutti Lewwonni dunkaana sana haa buqqisan; yeroo dunkaanichi dhaabamus Lewwonni haa dhaaban. Namni dunkaanichatti dhiʼaatu biraa haa ajjeefamu.
52 And the sons of Israel have encamped, each by his camp, and each by his standard, by their hosts;
Israaʼeloonnis tokkoon tokkoon namaa qubata isaa keessaa fi faajjii isaa jalatti kutaa kutaadhaan dunkaana isaanii haa dhaabbatan.
53 and the Levites encamp around the Dwelling Place of the Testimony; and there is no wrath on the congregation of the sons of Israel, and the Levites have kept the charge of the Dwelling Place of the Testimony.
Taʼus Lewwonni akka dheekkamsi Waaqayyoo waldaa Israaʼelitti gad hin buuneef dunkaanota isaanii naannoo dunkaana dhuga baʼumsaa haa dhadhaabatan. Lewwonni eegumsa dunkaana dhuga baʼumsaatti itti gaafatamtoota taʼuu qabu.”
54 And the sons of Israel do according to all that YHWH has commanded Moses; so they have done.
Israaʼeloonni akkuma Waaqayyo Musee ajaje sanatti waan kana hunda hojjetan.
