< Nehemiah 6 >
1 And it comes to pass, when it has been heard by Sanballat, and Tobiah, and by Geshem the Arabian, and by the rest of our enemies, that I have built the wall, and there has not been left in it a breach (also, until that time I had not set up the doors in the gates),
A LOHE iho la o Sanebalata, a A me Tobia, a me Gesema no Arabia, a me ke koena o ko makou poe enemi, ua uhau iho la au i ka pa, aole hoi i koe kauwahi ona i wawahiia'i, (aole nae au i kukulu iluna ia manawa i na pani ma na puka; )
2 that Sanballat sends, also Geshem, to me, saying, “Come and we meet together in the villages, in the Valley of Ono”; and they are thinking to do to me evil.
Alaila, hoouna mai la o Sanebalata a me Gesema io'u nei, i mai la, Ea, e halawai pu kakou ma na kulanakauhale o ka papu o Ono. Aka, manao iho la laua e hana ino mai ia'u.
3 And I send to them messengers, saying, “A great work I am doing, and I am not able to come down; why does the work cease when I let it alone, and have come down to you?”
A hoouna aku la au io lakou la i mau elele, e olelo aku, He hana nui ka'u e hana nei aole e hiki ia'u ke iho aku: no ke aha la e oki ai ka hana, i ko'u waiho ana ia, a iho aku io oukou la?
4 And they send to me, according to this word, four times, and I return them [word] according to this word.
Eha ka lakou hoouna ana mai ia'u e like me keia olelo ana; a pane aku la no hoi au ia lakou e like no me keia olelo ana.
5 And Sanballat sends to me, according to this word, a fifth time, his servant, and an open letter in his hand;
Alaila hoouna mai la o Sanehalata ia'u i kana kauwa me ka palapala i hoholaia ma kona lima, e like no me kela hana ana, a o ka lima hoi ia;
6 it is written in it, “Among the nations it has been heard, and Gashmu is saying: You and the Jews are thinking to rebel, therefore you are building the wall, and you have been to them for a king—according to these words!
A maloko olaila ua palapalaia, Ua lohoia e na lahuikanaka, a na Gasemu no i olelo ae, E ohumu ana oe a me ka Iuda e kipi: no ia mea kou uhau ana i ka pa, i lilo oe i alii no lakou e like me keia mau olelo.
7 And also, you have appointed prophets to call for you in Jerusalem, saying, A king [is] in Judah, and now it is heard by the king according to these words; and now come, and we take counsel together.”
A ua hoonoho hoi oe i poe kaula e hai aku ma Ierusalema nou, me ka i ana'ku, He alii ma Iuda: eia hoi, e lohe auanei ke alii e like me keia mau olelo. Nolaila, ea, e kukakuka pu kakou.
8 And I send to him, saying, “It has not been according to these words that you are saying, for from your own heart you are devising them”;
Alaila, hoouna aku la au io na la, i aku la, Aole i hanaia e like me keia mau mea au i olelo mai ai, aka, mai loko mai o kou naau iho kou kuhi ana ia mau mea.
9 for all of them are making us afraid, saying, “Their hands are too feeble for the work, and it is not done”; and now, strengthen my hands.
No ka mea, hoomakau mai lakou a pau ia makou, i ae la, E kuuia'ku ko lakou mau lima mai ka hana aku, i paa ole ia. Aka, ano, e hooikaika mai oe i ko'u mau lima.
10 And I have entered the house of Shemaiah son of Delaiah, son of Mehetabeel—and he is restrained—and he says, “Let us meet at the house of God, at the inside of the temple, and we shut the doors of the temple, for they are coming to slay you—indeed, by night they are coming to slay you.”
11 And I say, “A man such as I—does he flee? And who as I, that goes into the temple, and lives? I do not go in.”
A i aku la au, E hoohee wale anei ke kanaka me au nei? Owai hoi ka mea e like me au nei e komo iloko o ka luakini i ola ia? Aole au e komo.
12 And I discern, and behold, God has not sent him, for in the prophecy he has spoken to me both Tobiah and Sanballat hired him,
A ike iho la au, aia hoi, aole i hoouna mai ke Akua ia ia; aka, ua hai ku e mai la oia ia olelo ia'u: no ka mea, ua hoolimalima o Tobia laua o Sanebalata ia ia.
13 so that he [is] a hired worker, that I may fear and do so, and I had sinned, and it had been to them for an evil name that they may reproach me.
A no ia mea oia i hoolimalimaia'i, i makau ai au, a hana pela, a hewa, i loaa ia lakou ka olelo hoino, e hoino mai ai ia'u.
14 Be mindful, O my God, of Tobiah, and of Sanballat, according to these his works, and also, of Noadiah the prophetess, and of the rest of the prophets who have been making me afraid.
E hoomanao oe, e ko'u Akua, ia Tobia a me Sanebalata e like me keia mau hana ana a laua, a ia Noadia hoi, ke kaula wahine, a me na kaula e ae i manao e hoomakau mai ia'u.
15 And the wall is completed in the twenty-fifth of Elul, on the fifty-second day;
A ua paa ka pa i ka la iwakaluakumamalima o Elula, i na la he kanalimakumamalua.
16 and it comes to pass, when all our enemies have heard, and all the nations who are all around us see, that they fall greatly in their own eyes, and know that by our God has this work been done.
A lohe ko makou poe enemi a pau, a ike hoi na lahuikanaka a pau a puni makou, kulou loa iho la ko lakou maka ilalo; no ka mea, ike lakou, ua hanaia keia hana e ko makou Akua.
17 Also, in those days the nobles of Judah are multiplying their letters going to Tobiah, and those of Tobiah are coming to them;
Eia hoi, ia mau la, hoomahuahua iho la ka poe kaukaualii o Iuda i na palapala a lakou i hoouka aku ai io Tobia la, a hiki mai la hoi ka Tobia io lakou la.
18 for many in Judah are sworn to him, for he [is] son-in-law to Shechaniah son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan has taken the daughter of Meshullam son of Berechiah;
No ka mea, he nui ka poe ma Iuda i hoohikiia nona, no ka mea, he hunonakane no ia no Sekania ke keiki a Ara; a ua lawe hoi o Iohanana kana keiki i ke kaikamahine a Mesulama ke keiki a Berekia.
19 also, they have been speaking of his good deeds before me, and they have been taking my words out to him; Tobiah has sent letters to make me afraid.
Eia hoi, olelo mai la lakou imua o'u ma na mea maikai ona, a hai aku la hoi lakou i ka'u mau mea ia ia. A hoouna mai o Tobia i na palapala e hoomakau mai ia'u.
