Nehemiah 4
1 And it comes to pass, when Sanballat has heard that we are building the wall, that it is displeasing to him, and he is very angry and mocks at the Jews,
Mas quando Sanballat ouviu que estávamos construindo o muro, ficou furioso, e ficou muito indignado, e zombou dos judeus.
2 and says before his brothers and the force of Samaria, indeed, he says, “What [are] the weak Jews doing? Are they left to themselves? Do they sacrifice? Do they complete in a day? Do they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish—and they are burned?”
Ele falou diante de seus irmãos e do exército de Samaria, e disse: “O que esses judeus fracos estão fazendo? Será que eles se fortificarão? Será que eles vão se sacrificar? Será que vão terminar em um dia? Reanimarão as pedras dos montes de lixo, já que estão queimadas?”
3 And Tobiah the Ammonite [is] by him and says, “Also, that which they are building—if a fox goes up, then it has broken down their stone wall.”
Now Tobias, o amonita, estava por ele, e disse: “O que eles estão construindo, se uma raposa subisse, ele derrubaria sua parede de pedra”.
4 Hear, O our God, for we have been despised; and return their reproach on their own head, and give them for a spoil in a land of captivity;
“Ouça, nosso Deus, pois somos desprezados. Voltem a repreender a sua própria cabeça. Desista deles por um saque em uma terra de cativeiro.
5 and do not cover over their iniquity, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before You, for they have provoked [You] to anger in front of those building.
“Não cubra sua iniqüidade. Não deixe que o pecado deles seja apagado de diante de você; pois eles insultaram os construtores”.
6 And we build the wall, and all the wall is joined—to its half, and the people have a heart to work.
Assim, construímos o muro; e todo o muro foi unido à metade de sua altura, pois o povo tinha uma mente para trabalhar.
7 And it comes to pass, when Sanballat has heard, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, that lengthening has gone up to the walls of Jerusalem, that the breeches have begun to be stopped, then it is very displeasing to them,
Mas quando Sambalate, Tobias, os árabes, os amonitas e os ashdoditas ouviram que o conserto dos muros de Jerusalém foi adiante e que as brechas começaram a ser preenchidas, ficaram muito irritados;
8 and they conspire, all of them together, to come to fight against Jerusalem, and to do to it injury.
e todos eles conspiraram juntos para vir e lutar contra Jerusalém, e para causar confusão entre nós.
9 And we pray to our God, and appoint a watch against them, by day and by night, because of them.
Mas fizemos nossa oração ao nosso Deus, e colocamos uma vigília contra eles dia e noite por causa deles.
10 And Judah says, “The power of the burden-bearers has become feeble, and the rubbish [is] abundant, and we are not able to build on the wall.”
Judah disse: “A força dos carregadores de fardos está desaparecendo e há muitos escombros, de modo que não somos capazes de construir o muro”.
11 And our adversaries say, “They do not know, nor see, until we come into their midst, and have slain them, and caused the work to cease.”
Nossos adversários disseram: “Eles não saberão ou verão, até que nós entremos no meio deles e os matemos, e façamos cessar o trabalho”.
12 And it comes to pass, when the Jews have come who are dwelling near them, that they say to us ten times from all the places to where you return—[they are] against us.
Quando os judeus que viviam por eles vieram, eles nos disseram dez vezes de todos os lugares: “Para onde quer que você se vire, eles nos atacarão”.
13 And I appoint at the lowest of the places, at the back of the wall, in the clear places, indeed, I appoint the people, by their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
Therefore Coloco guardas nas partes mais baixas do espaço atrás da parede, nos lugares abertos. Eu coloco as pessoas por grupos familiares com suas espadas, suas lanças e seus arcos.
14 And I see, and rise up, and say to the nobles, and to the prefects, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord, the great and the fearful, and fight for your brothers, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
Olhei, e me levantei, e disse aos nobres, aos governantes, e ao resto do povo: “Não tenham medo deles! Lembrem-se do Senhor, que é grande e impressionante, e lutem por seus irmãos, seus filhos, suas filhas, suas esposas e suas casas”.
15 And it comes to pass, when our enemies have heard that it has been known to us, and God frustrates their counsel, and we return, all of us, to the wall, each to his work;
Quando nossos inimigos souberam que era do nosso conhecimento, e que Deus tinha levado seus conselhos a nada, todos nós voltamos à parede, todos ao seu trabalho.
16 indeed, it comes to pass, from that day, half of my servants are working in the business, and half of them are keeping hold of both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the coats of mail; and the heads [are] behind all the house of Judah.
Daquele tempo em diante, metade dos meus servos fez o trabalho, e metade deles segurava as lanças, os escudos, os arcos e as capas de correio; e os governantes estavam atrás de toda a casa de Judá.
17 The builders on the wall, and the bearers of the burden, those loading, [each] with one of his hands is working in the business, and one is laying hold of the missile.
Aqueles que construíram o muro, e aqueles que carregaram fardos se carregaram; todos com uma de suas mãos faziam o trabalho, e com a outra segurava sua arma.
18 And the builders [are] each with his sword, girded on his loins, and building, and he who is blowing with a horn [is] beside me.
Among os construtores, todos usavam sua espada ao seu lado, e assim construíram. Aquele que tocou a trombeta foi por mim.
19 And I say to the nobles, and to the prefects, and to the rest of the people, “The work is abundant, and large, and we are separated on the wall, far off from one another;
I disse aos nobres, e aos governantes e ao resto do povo: “A obra é grande e amplamente difundida, e estamos separados na parede, longe um do outro.
20 in the place that you hear the voice of the horn there you are gathered to us; our God fights for us.”
Wherever você ouve o som da trombeta, junte-se a nós”. Nosso Deus lutará por nós”.
21 And we are working in the business, and half of them are keeping hold of the spears, from the going up of the dawn until the coming forth of the stars.
So nós fizemos o trabalho. Metade das pessoas seguraram as lanças desde a subida da manhã até o aparecimento das estrelas.
22 Also, at that time I said to the people, “Let each lodge with his servant in the midst of Jerusalem, and they have been a watch for us by night, and [for] the work by day”:
Likewise ao mesmo tempo eu disse ao povo: “Que todos com seu servo se hospedem em Jerusalém, para que à noite possam ser nossos guardas, e possam trabalhar durante o dia”.
23 and there are none—I, and my brothers, and my servants, the men of the watch who [are] after me—there are none of us putting off our garments, each [has] his vessel of water.
So nem eu, nem meus irmãos, nem meus servos, nem os homens da guarda que me seguiram tiraram nossas roupas. Todos levaram sua arma para a água.
