< Nehemiah 4 >

1 And it comes to pass, when Sanballat has heard that we are building the wall, that it is displeasing to him, and he is very angry and mocks at the Jews,
Toe kaicae mah tapang ka thungh o let boeh, tiah Sanballat mah thaih naah, palungphui hmai baktiah amngaeh pae moe, Judahnawk to pahnuithuih.
2 and says before his brothers and the force of Samaria, indeed, he says, “What [are] the weak Jews doing? Are they left to themselves? Do they sacrifice? Do they complete in a day? Do they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish—and they are burned?”
Anih mah angmacae ampuinawk hoi Samaria misatuh kaminawk hmaa ah, Thacak ai Judah kaminawk loe timaw sak atim o? Angmacae abuephaih tapang to a sak o moe, angbawnhaih sak han a thuih o maw? Nihcae mah nito thungah tapang to pacoeng o thai tih maw? Hmai mah kangh ih anghnoeng baktiah angpop sut thlung hoiah maw nihcae mah tapang to sah o tih? tiah thuih.
3 And Tobiah the Ammonite [is] by him and says, “Also, that which they are building—if a fox goes up, then it has broken down their stone wall.”
Anih taengah kaom Ammon kami Tobiah mah, Nihcae mah sak ih tapang loe tasui mah mataeng doeh a nui hoiah cawh nahaeloe, amtim rup tih takhae, tiah a naa.
4 Hear, O our God, for we have been despised; and return their reproach on their own head, and give them for a spoil in a land of captivity;
Toe Aw kaicae ih Sithaw, tahngai ah; minawk mah hnaphnaehaih ka tongh o boeh: nichae mah padaeng ih lok loe angmacae lu nuiah krah nasoe; nihcae misong ah naehhaih to om nasoe:
5 and do not cover over their iniquity, and do not let their sin be blotted out from before You, for they have provoked [You] to anger in front of those building.
nihcae mah tapang sah kaminawk to khet patoek o pongah, a sak o ih zaehaihnawk to pakaa pae hmah; nihcae zaehaih to na hmaa hoiah takhoe pae ving hmah, tiah lawk ka thuih.
6 And we build the wall, and all the wall is joined—to its half, and the people have a heart to work.
Toe tapang to ka sak o; kaminawk loe toksakhaih bangah palung ang paek o pongah, tapang ahap khoek to sak pacoeng o.
7 And it comes to pass, when Sanballat has heard, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, that lengthening has gone up to the walls of Jerusalem, that the breeches have begun to be stopped, then it is very displeasing to them,
Toe Jerusalem tapang to pathoep o moe, akhawnawk doeh pading o let boeh, tiah Saballat, Tobiah, Arab kaminawk, Ammon kaminawk hoi Ashod kaminawk mah thaih o naah, paroeai palungphui o,
8 and they conspire, all of them together, to come to fight against Jerusalem, and to do to it injury.
nihcae loe Jerusalem to tuk moe, raihaih paek hanah, amkhueng moe, lok aram o.
9 And we pray to our God, and appoint a watch against them, by day and by night, because of them.
Toe kaicae loe kaimacae Sithaw khaeah lawk ka thuih o moe, nihcae pongah, aqum athun misa ka toep o.
10 And Judah says, “The power of the burden-bearers has become feeble, and the rubbish [is] abundant, and we are not able to build on the wall.”
To naah thoemto Judah kaminawk hoi toksah kaminawk loe thazok o, kamro thlung to pop hmoek pongah, tapang to ka sah o thai ai boeh, tiah a thuih o.
11 And our adversaries say, “They do not know, nor see, until we come into their midst, and have slain them, and caused the work to cease.”
Ka misanawk mah, Judah kaminawk mah hnuk o han ai, panoek o han ai ah, nihcae salakah akun si loe, nihcae to hum si, to tiah a sak o ih tok to pakaa pae si, tiah a thuih o.
12 And it comes to pass, when the Jews have come who are dwelling near them, that they say to us ten times from all the places to where you return—[they are] against us.
To naah nihcae taengah kaom Judahnawk to angzoh o moe, misa mah ahmuen kruek hoiah nangcae tuk hanah amsak o, tiah vai hato ang thuih o.
13 And I appoint at the lowest of the places, at the back of the wall, in the clear places, indeed, I appoint the people, by their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows.
To pongah tapang hnuk bang ih ahmuen kahnaem hoi hmuensang ah sumsen, tayae hoi kalii sin kaminawk to angmacae imthung takoh kaminawk hoi nawnto ka ohsak.
14 And I see, and rise up, and say to the nobles, and to the prefects, and to the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord, the great and the fearful, and fight for your brothers, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”
Hmuennawk ka khet pacoengah, angraengnawk hoi ukkungnawk, kanghmat kaminawk to ka kawk moe, Misanawk to zii o hmah, Lensawk zitthok, Angraeng to panoek oh, nam nawkamyanawk, na capanawk, na canunawk, na zunawk hoi na imthung takohnawk hanah misa to tuh oh, tiah ka thuih pae.
15 And it comes to pass, when our enemies have heard that it has been known to us, and God frustrates their counsel, and we return, all of us, to the wall, each to his work;
Nihcae mah pacaeng ih hmuen to kaicae mah panoek boeh, tiah misanawk mah panoek o naah, Nihcae amsakhaih to Sithaw mah amrosak, to naah tapang sakhaih ahmuen ah kam laem o, kami boih angmacae toksakhaih ahmuen ah caeh o let.
16 indeed, it comes to pass, from that day, half of my servants are working in the business, and half of them are keeping hold of both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the coats of mail; and the heads [are] behind all the house of Judah.
To pacoeng hoi kamtong, ka tamna ahap kaminawk toksak o naah, ahap kaminawk mah maiphaw maica, tayae, angvaenghaih aphaw, kalii hoiah misa to toep o; ukkungnawk mah Judahnawk to abomh.
17 The builders on the wall, and the bearers of the burden, those loading, [each] with one of his hands is working in the business, and one is laying hold of the missile.
Tapang sah kaminawk loe ban maeto hoiah tok to a sak o moe, ban maeto hoiah maiphawmaica to sinh o.
18 And the builders [are] each with his sword, girded on his loins, and building, and he who is blowing with a horn [is] beside me.
Tapang sah kaminawk loe sumsen avak hoiah tapang to a sak o. Toe mongkah ueng kami loe ka taengah oh.
19 And I say to the nobles, and to the prefects, and to the rest of the people, “The work is abundant, and large, and we are separated on the wall, far off from one another;
To naah kai mah, angraengnawk, ukkugnnawk hoi to ah kaom anghmat kaminawk khaeah, Toksakhaih ahmuen paroeai kawk pongah, tapang nuiah toksah kaminawk loe maeto hoi maeto kangthla ah ni na oh o.
20 in the place that you hear the voice of the horn there you are gathered to us; our God fights for us.”
Naa ih ahmuen hoiah doeh mongkah lok to na thaih o nahaeloe, kaicae khaeah angcuu oh, aicae ih Sithaw mah aicae hanah misa na tuh pae tih, tiah ka naa.
21 And we are working in the business, and half of them are keeping hold of the spears, from the going up of the dawn until the coming forth of the stars.
To tiah tok ka sak o; thoemto kaminawk loe akhawnbang hoi cakaeh amtueng khoek to tayae sinh hoiah tok to a sak o.
22 Also, at that time I said to the people, “Let each lodge with his servant in the midst of Jerusalem, and they have been a watch for us by night, and [for] the work by day”:
To naah kaminawk khaeah, Kami boih aqum ah angmah ih tamna hoiah nawnto iip o nasoe, to tiah ni tamnanawk loe athun ah thoksah o ueloe, aqum ah aicae hanah misa toep o tih, tiah ka thuih pae.
23 and there are none—I, and my brothers, and my servants, the men of the watch who [are] after me—there are none of us putting off our garments, each [has] his vessel of water.
Tui amhluk nathuem khue ai ah loe, kai doeh, kam nawkamyanawk, ka tamnanawk hoi ka hnukbang kaminawk doeh, khukbuen kang khring o ai.
