Nehemiah 1
1 Words of Nehemiah son of Hachaliah. And it comes to pass, in the month of Chisleu, the twentieth year, and I have been in Shushan the palace,

2 and Hanani, one of my brothers, he and men of Judah come in, and I ask them concerning the Jews, the escaped part that have been left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem;
২তখন হনানি নামে আমার ভাইদের মধ্যে একজন যিহূদা থেকে কিছু লোকের সঙ্গে আসলে আমি তাদেরকে বন্দী অবস্থা থেকে বেঁচে যাওয়া, রক্ষা পাওয়া ইহুদীদের ও যিরুশালেমের বিষয়ে জিজ্ঞাসা করলাম।
3 and they say to me, “Those left, who have been left of the captivity there in the province, [are] in great evil, and in reproach, and the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.”
৩তখন তারা আমাকে বলল, “সেই বেঁচে থাকা লোকেরা অর্থাৎ যারা বন্দী অবস্থা থেকে বেঁচে গিয়ে সেই প্রদেশে আছে, তারা খুব খারাপ ও মর্যাদাহীন অবস্থায় আছে এবং যিরুশালেমের দেওয়াল ভাঙ্গা ও তার দরজা সব আগুনে পুড়ে আছে।”
4 And it comes to pass, at my hearing these words, I have sat down, and I weep and mourn [for] days, and I am fasting and praying before the God of the heavens.
৪এই কথা শুনে আমি কিছুদিন বসে কাঁদলাম ও শোক করলাম এবং স্বর্গের ঈশ্বরের সামনে উপবাস ও প্রার্থনা করলাম।
5 And I say, “Ah, now, O YHWH, God of the heavens, God, the great and the fearful, keeping the covenant and kindness for those loving Him, and for those keeping His commands,
৫আমি বললাম, “অনুরোধ করি, হে সদাপ্রভু, স্বর্গের ঈশ্বর, তুমি মহান ও ভয়ঙ্কর ঈশ্বর; যারা তোমাকে ভালবাসে ও তোমার আদেশ পালন করে, তাদের জন্য তুমি নিয়ম ও দয়া পালন করে থাক।
6 please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, to listen to the prayer of Your servant, that I am praying before You today, by day and by night, concerning the sons of Israel, Your servants, and confessing concerning the sins of the sons of Israel, that we have sinned against You; indeed, I and the house of my father have sinned;
৬এখন তোমার দাসের প্রার্থনা শোনার জন্য তোমার কান সজাগ ও চোখ খোলা থাকুক। এখন আমি তোমার দাস ইস্রায়েলীয়দের জন্য দিন রাত তোমার কাছে প্রার্থনা করছি এবং ইস্রায়েলীয়দের পাপ সব স্বীকার করছি; বাস্তবে আমরা তোমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করেছি; আমি ও আমার বাবার বংশও পাপ করেছি।
7 we have acted very corruptly against You, and have not kept the commands, and the statutes, and the judgments, that You commanded Your servant Moses.
৭আমরা তোমার বিরুদ্ধে খুব অন্যায় কাজ করেছি; তুমি নিজের দাস মোশিকে যে সব আজ্ঞা, নিয়ম ও শাসন আদেশ করেছিলে, তা আমরা পালন করিনি।
8 Please remember the word that You commanded Your servant Moses, saying, You trespass—I scatter you among peoples;
৮অনুরোধ করি, তুমি নিজের দাস মোশির প্রতি আদেশ দেওয়া এই কথা মনে কর, যেমন, ‘তোমরা আমার সত্য অমান্য করলে আমি তোমাদেরকে জাতিদের মধ্যে ছিন্নভিন্ন করব।
9 and you have turned back to Me, and kept My commands, and done them—if your outcast is in the end of the heavens, there I gather them, and have brought them to the place that I have chosen to cause My Name to dwell there.
৯কিন্তু যদি তোমরা আমার কাছে ফিরে আস এবং আমার আদেশ পালন ও সেই অনুযায়ী কাজ কর, যদি তোমাদের বন্দীদশায় থাকা লোকেরা আকাশের শেষভাগে ছড়িয়ে পড়লেও আমি সেখান থেকে তাদেরকে জড়ো করব এবং নিজের নামের বসবাসের জন্য যে জায়গা বেছেছি, সেই জায়গায় তাদেরকে আনব।’
10 And they [are] Your servants, and Your people, whom You have ransomed by Your great power, and by Your strong hand.
১০এরা তোমার দাস এবং তোমার প্রজা, যাদেরকে তুমি তোমার ক্ষমতায় ও শক্তিশালী হাতে মুক্ত করেছ।
11 Ah, now, O Lord, please let Your ear be attentive to the prayer of Your servant, and to the prayer of Your servants, those delighting to fear Your Name; and please give prosperity to Your servant today, and give him for mercies before this man”; and I have been butler to the king.
১১হে প্রভু, মিনতি করি, আজ তোমার এই দাসের প্রার্থনাতে কান দাও; আর অনুরোধ করি, আজ তোমার এই দাসকে সফল কর ও এই ব্যক্তির সামনে দয়া কর।” আমি রাজার পানপাত্রবাহক ছিলাম।
