Matthew 1
1 [The] scroll of the birth of Jesus Christ, Son of David, Son of Abraham.
本书为亚伯拉罕和大卫的后代弥赛亚的记录。首先在此回述其家谱：
2 Abraham begot Isaac, and Isaac begot Jacob, and Jacob begot Judah and his brothers,
亚伯拉罕为以撒之父；以撒为雅各之父；雅各为犹大及其兄弟之父；
3 and Judah begot Perez and Zerah of Tamar, and Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram,
犹大（妻为塔玛）为法勒斯和谢拉之父；法勒斯为希斯仑之父；希斯仑为亚兰之父；
4 and Ram begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon,

5 and Salmon begot Boaz of Rahab, and Boaz begot Obed of Ruth, and Obed begot Jesse,

6 and Jesse begot David the king. And David the king begot Solomon, of her [who had been] Uriah’s,

7 and Solomon begot Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa,
所罗门为罗波安之父；罗波安为亚比雅之父；亚比雅为亚撒之父；
8 and Asa begot Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah,
亚撒为约沙法之父；约沙法为约兰之父；约兰为乌西亚之父；
9 and Uzziah begot Jotham, and Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah,
乌西亚为约坦之父；约坦为亚哈斯之父；亚哈斯为希西加之父；
10 and Hezekiah begot Manasseh, and Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah,
希西加为玛拿西之父；玛拿西为亚门之父；亚门为约西亚之父；
11 and Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers, at the Babylonian removal.
被流放巴比伦期间，约西亚诞下耶哥尼雅及其兄弟。
12 And after the Babylonian removal, Jeconiah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel,
结束巴比伦流放之后，耶哥尼雅诞下撒拉铁，撒拉铁为所罗巴伯之父；
13 and Zerubbabel begot Abiud, and Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor,
所罗巴伯为亚比玉之父，亚比玉为以利亚敬之父，以利亚敬为亚所之父；
14 and Azor begot Sadok, and Sadok begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud,
亚所为撒多之父；撒多为亚金之父；亚金为以律之父；
15 and Eliud begot Eleazar, and Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob,
以律为以利亚撒之父，以利亚撒为马但之父；马但为雅各之父。
16 and Jacob begot Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was begotten Jesus, who is named Christ.
雅各为约瑟之父，即玛利亚的丈夫。玛利亚所诞之子被称为弥赛亚，即耶稣。
17 All the generations, therefore, from Abraham to David [are] fourteen generations, and from David to the Babylonian removal fourteen generations, and from the Babylonian removal to the Christ, fourteen generations.
从亚伯拉罕到大卫共十四代人；从大卫到巴比伦流放之时亦为十四代人，从巴比伦流放到基督又为十四代人。
18 And of Jesus Christ, the birth was thus: for His mother Mary having been betrothed to Joseph, before their coming together she was found to have conceived from the Holy Spirit,
以下为弥赛亚——即耶稣基督降生的过程：他的母亲玛利亚被许配给约瑟，但在同房之前，玛利亚就因圣灵受孕。
19 and her husband Joseph being righteous, and not willing to make her an example, resolved to send her away privately.
她的丈夫约瑟生性善良，不愿张扬此事让她受尽羞辱，于是打算暗地将她休掉。
20 And on his thinking of these things, behold, a messenger of the LORD appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, you may not fear to receive your wife Mary, for that which was begotten in her is of [the] Holy Spirit,
就在他思量此事之时，主派来天使进入他的梦境，对他说：“大卫之子约瑟，不要担心，迎娶你的妻子玛利亚，因她所孕育乃源于圣灵。
21 and she will bring forth a Son, and you will call His Name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
她将诞下一子，请为其起名耶稣，他将会把苍生从罪恶之中拯救出来。”
22 And all this has come to pass, that it may be fulfilled that was spoken by the LORD through the prophet, saying,
(这一切印证了主通过先知给出的预言：
23 “Behold, the virgin will conceive, and she will bring forth a Son, and they will call His Name Emmanuel,” which is, being interpreted, “God with us.”
将有处女怀孕生子，世人将称他为马内利 即 “上帝与我们同在”之意)。
24 And Joseph, having risen from sleep, did as the messenger of the LORD directed him, and received his wife,
约瑟醒来后，便遵从天使的嘱托，
25 and did not know her until she brought forth her Son—the firstborn, and he called His Name Jesus.
迎娶妻子过门，但在孩子出生前并未与她同房。玛利亚生下男婴后，约瑟为他起名耶稣。
