Matthew 5
1 And having seen the multitudes, He went up to the mountain, and He having sat down, His disciples came to Him,
Als er die Volksmenge sah, ging er auf die Bergeshöhe. Dort setzte er sich nieder, und seine Jünger traten zu ihm.
2 and having opened His mouth, He was teaching them, saying,
Da tat er seinen Mund auf und lehrte sie also:
3 “Blessed the poor in spirit—because theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.
"Selig sind die Armen im Geist! Denn das Königreich der Himmel ist ihr Teil.
4 Blessed the mourning—because they will be comforted.
Selig sind die Trauernden! Denn sie sollen getröstet werden.
5 Blessed the meek—because they will inherit the land.
Selig sind die stillen Dulder! Denn ihr Erbteil soll die Erde sein.
6 Blessed those hungering and thirsting for righteousness—because they will be filled.
Selig sind, die hungern und dürsten nach der Gerechtigkeit! Denn sie sollen gesättigt werden.
7 Blessed the kind—because they will find kindness.
Selig sind die Barmherzigen! Denn ihnen soll Erbarmen widerfahren.
8 Blessed the clean in heart—because they will see God.
Selig sind, die reines Herzens sind! Denn sie sollen Gott schauen.
9 Blessed the peacemakers—because they will be called sons of God.
Selig sind die Friedenstifter! Denn sie sollen Söhne Gottes heißen.
10 Blessed those persecuted for righteousness’ sake—because theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.
Selig sind, die um Gerechtigkeit willen Verfolgung gelitten haben! Denn das Königreich der Himmel ist ihr Teil.
11 Blessed are you whenever they may reproach you, and may persecute, and may say any evil thing against you falsely for My sake—
Selig seid ihr, wenn man euch schmähet und verfolgt und um meinetwillen lügnerisch allerlei Böses von euch redet.
12 rejoice and be glad, because your reward [is] great in the heavens, for thus they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Freuet euch darüber und jubelt, denn euer Lohn dafür ist groß im Himmel! Ebenso hat man ja die Propheten verfolgt, die vor euch lebten.
13 You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt may lose savor, in what will it be salted? It is good for nothing from now on, except to be cast outside, and to be trodden down by men.
Ihr seid das Salz der Erde. Wird aber das Salz fade, womit soll man ihm die Salzkraft wiedergeben? Es hat dann weiter keinen Wert; man muß es wegwerfen und von den Leuten zertreten lassen.
14 You are the light of the world, a city set on a mountain is not able to be hid;
Ihr seid das Licht der Welt. Eine Stadt, die auf einem Berge liegt, kann nicht verborgen bleiben.
15 nor do they light a lamp and put it under the measure, but on the lampstand, and it shines to all those in the house;
Man zündet auch nicht eine Lampe an und setzt sie dann unter einen Scheffel; sondern man stellt sie auf den Leuchter; dann gibt sie allen Hausbewohnern Licht.
16 so let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and may glorify your Father who [is] in the heavens.
Ebenso soll euer Licht vor den Menschen leuchten, damit sie eure guten Werke sehen und euern Vater im Himmel preisen.
17 Do not suppose that I came to throw down the Law or the Prophets—I did not come to throw down, but to fulfill;
Denkt nicht, ich sei gekommen, um das Gesetz oder die Propheten aufzuheben! Ich bin nicht gekommen, um aufzuheben, sondern um zu erfüllen.
18 for truly I say to you, until the heaven and the earth may pass away, one iota or one tittle may not pass away from the Law, until all may come to pass.
Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Eher können Himmel und Erde vergehn, als daß auch nur der kleinste Buchstabe oder ein einziger Strich vom Gesetz abhanden kommt, ohne daß alles erfüllt wird.
19 Therefore whoever may loose one of these commands—the least—and may teach men so, he will be called least in the kingdom of the heavens, but whoever may do and may teach [them], he will be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.
Wer darum eins von diesen Geboten, und sei es das geringste, aufhebt und so die Leute lehrt, der wird der Geringste heißen im Königreich der Himmel; wer es aber erfüllt und lehrt, der wird ein Großer heißen im Königreich der Himmel.
20 For I say to you that if your righteousness may not abound above that of the scribes and Pharisees, you may not enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
Denn ich versichere euch: Steht es bei euch mit der Gerechtigkeit nicht viel besser als bei den Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäern, so werdet ihr gewiß nicht eingehn ins Königreich der Himmel.
21 You heard that it was said to the ancients: You will not murder, and whoever may murder will be in danger of the judgment;
Ihr habt gehört, daß zu den Alten gesagt worden ist: Du sollst nicht morden! Wer aber einen Mord begeht, der soll dem Ortsgericht verfallen sein.
22 but I say to you that everyone who is angry at his brother without cause will be in danger of the judgment, and whoever may say to his brother, Stupid, will be in danger of the Sanhedrin, and whoever may say, Moron, will be in danger of the Gehenna of fire. (Geenna g1067)
Ich aber sage euch: Wer seinem Bruder zürnt, der soll dem Ortsgericht verfallen; wer aber zu seinem Bruder mit Verachtung redet, der soll dem Hohen Rat verfallen; und wer das Scheltwort Narr gebraucht, der soll der Glut des Feuers verfallen. (Geenna g1067)
23 If, therefore, you may bring your gift to the altar, and there may remember that your brother has anything against you,
Wenn du also deine Opfergabe schon zum Altar gebracht hast, und es fällt dir dort ein, daß dein Bruder gegen dich einen Grund zur Klage hat,
24 leave there your gift before the altar, and go—first be reconciled to your brother, and then having come, bring your gift.
so laß dort deine Opfergabe vor dem Altar stehn und geh zunächst hin und söhne dich mit deinem Bruder aus; dann erst komm und bring dein Opfer dar!
25 Be agreeing with your opponent quickly, while you are in the way with him, that the opponent may not deliver you to the judge, and the judge may deliver you to the officer, and you may be cast into prison;
Zeig dich beizeiten deinem Gläubiger entgegenkommend, solange du noch mit ihm auf dem Wege bist! Sonst könnte dich der Gläubiger vor den Richter bringen und der Richter dich dem Büttel übergeben, und man könnte dich ins Schuldgefängnis werfen.
26 truly I say to you, you may not come forth from there until you may pay the last penny.
Wahrlich, ich sage dir: Du kommst dort nicht eher heraus, als bis du den letzten Pfennig bezahlt hast.
27 You heard that it was said to the ancients: You will not commit adultery;
Ihr habt gehört, daß gesagt worden ist: Du sollst nicht ehebrechen!
28 but I say to you that everyone who is looking on a woman to desire her, already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Ich aber sage euch: Wer ein Weib begehrlich anblickt, der hat schon in seinem Herzen Ehebruch mit ihr getrieben.
29 But if your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and cast from you, for it is good to you that one of your members may perish, and not your whole body be cast into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
Wenn dich nun dein rechtes Auge zur Sünde verführt, so reiß es aus und wirf es von dir! Denn es ist dir besser, eins von deinen Gliedern geht dir verloren, als daß dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle geworfen werde. (Geenna g1067)
30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and cast from you, for it is good to you that one of your members may perish, and not your whole body be cast into Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
Und wenn dich deine rechte Hand zur Sünde verführt, haue sie ab und wirf sie von dir! Denn es ist dir besser, eins von deinen Gliedern geht dir verloren, als daß dein ganzer Leib in die Hölle fahre. (Geenna g1067)
31 And it was said that, Whoever may put away his wife, let him give to her a writing of divorce;
Ferner ist gesagt worden: Wer sein Weib entläßt, der soll ihr einen Scheidebrief geben.
32 but I say to you that whoever may put away his wife, except for the matter of whoredom, makes her to commit adultery; and whoever may marry her who has been put away commits adultery.
Ich aber sage euch: Wer sein Weib entläßt — abgesehn von dem Falle, daß sie Unzucht getrieben —, der setzt sie der Gefahr aus, daß sie Ehebruch begeht; und wer eine (von ihrem Mann) entlassene Frau zum Weibe nimmt, der begeht damit einen Ehebruch.
33 Again, you heard that it was said to the ancients: You will not swear falsely, but you will pay to the LORD your oaths;
Weiterhin habt ihr gehört, daß zu den Alten gesagt worden ist: Du sollst nicht falsch schwören, du sollst vielmehr dem Herrn deine Eide (und Gelübde) erfüllen.
34 but I say to you not to swear at all; neither by Heaven, because it is the throne of God,
Ich aber sage euch: Ihr sollt überhaupt nicht schwören: weder bei dem Himmel, denn er ist Gottes Thron,
35 nor by the earth, because it is His footstool, nor by Jerusalem, because it is [the] city of [the] great King,
noch bei der Erde, denn sie ist seiner Füße Schemel, noch bei Jerusalem, denn sie ist des großen Königs Stadt.
36 nor may you swear by your head, because you are not able to make one hair white or black;
Du sollst auch nicht bei deinem Haupte schwören; denn du bist nicht imstande, ein einziges Haar weiß oder schwarz zu machen.
37 but let your word be, Yes, Yes, No, No, and that which is more than these is of the evil [one].
In eurer Rede sei vielmehr das Ja ein Ja, das Nein ein Nein; was dem hinzugefügt wird, stammt von dem Bösen.
38 You heard that it was said: Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth;
Ihr habt gehört, daß gesagt worden ist: Auge um Auge und Zahn um Zahn!
39 but I say to you not to resist the evil, but whoever will slap you on your right cheek, turn to him also the other;
Ich aber sage euch: Setzt einem bösen Menschen keinen Widerstand entgegen! Im Gegenteil: Wer dich auf die rechte Wange schlägt, dem halte auch die andre hin!
40 and whoever is willing to take you to law, and to take your coat—also permit to him the cloak.
Und wer dir durch eine Klage vor Gericht dein Unterkleid entreißen will, dem gib freiwillig auch dein Oberkleid.
41 And whoever will impress you one mile, go with him two;
Und wer dein Geleit für eine Meile haben will, mit dem gehe zwei!
42 to him who is asking of you be giving, and him who is willing to borrow from you, you may not turn away.
Wer dich um etwas bittet, dem gib; und wer etwas von dir borgen will, von dem wende dich nicht ab!
43 You heard that it was said: You will love your neighbor, and will hate your enemy;
Ihr habt gehört, daß gesagt worden ist: Du sollst deinen Nächsten lieben und deinen Feind hassen!
44 but I say to you, love your enemies, bless those cursing you, do good to those hating you, and pray for those accusing you falsely, and persecuting you,
Ich aber sage euch: Liebet eure Feinde und betet für eure Verfolger!
45 that you may be sons of your Father in the heavens, because He causes His sun to rise on evil and good, and He sends rain on righteous and unrighteous.
Dann zeigt ihr euch als Söhne eures Vaters im Himmel. Denn er läßt seine Sonne aufgehn über Böse und Gute und läßt regnen über Gerechte und Ungerechte.
46 For if you may love those loving you, what reward do you have? Do the tax collectors not also do the same?
Denn wenn ihr nur die liebt, die euch lieben, was für eine Belohnung habt ihr da zu erwarten? Tun das nicht auch die Zöllner?
47 And if you may greet your brothers only, what do you do abundant? Do the nations not also do so?
Und wenn ihr nur mit euern Volksgenossen verkehrt, was tut ihr da Besonderes? Tun das nicht auch die Heiden?
48 You will therefore be perfect, as your Father who [is] in the heavens is perfect.”
Darum sollt ihr vollkommen sein, wie euer himmlischer Vater vollkommen ist.
