Matthew 3
1 And in those days John the Immerser comes, proclaiming in the wilderness of Judea,
ตทาโนํ โยหฺนฺนามา มชฺชยิตา ยิหูทียเทศสฺย ปฺรานฺตรมฺ อุปสฺถาย ปฺรจารยนฺ กถยามาส,
2 and saying, “Convert, for the kingdom of the heavens has come near,”
มนำสิ ปราวรฺตฺตยต, สฺวรฺคียราชตฺวํ สมีปมาคตมฺฯ
3 for this is he having been spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “A voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the LORD, Make His paths straight.”
ปรเมศสฺย ปนฺถานํ ปริษฺกุรุต สรฺวฺวต: ฯ ตสฺย ราชปถำศฺไจว สมีกุรุต สรฺวฺวถาฯ อิเตฺยตตฺ ปฺรานฺตเร วากฺยํ วทต: กสฺยจิทฺ รว: ๚
4 And this John had his clothing of camel’s hair, and a girdle of skin around his loins, and his nourishment was locusts and honey of the field.
เอตทฺวจนํ ยิศยิยภวิษฺยทฺวาทินา โยหนมุทฺทิศฺย ภาษิตมฺฯ โยหโน วสนํ มหางฺคโรมชํ ตสฺย กเฏา จรฺมฺมกฏิพนฺธนํ; ส จ ศูกกีฏานฺ มธุ จ ภุกฺตวานฺฯ
5 Then were going forth to him Jerusalem, and all Judea, and all the region around the Jordan,
ตทานีํ ยิรูศาลมฺนครนิวาสิน: สรฺเวฺว ยิหูทิเทศียา ยรฺทฺทนฺตฏินฺยา อุภยตฏสฺถาศฺจ มานวา พหิราคตฺย ตสฺย สมีเป
6 and they were immersed in the Jordan by him, confessing their sins.
สฺวียํ สฺวียํ ทุริตมฺ องฺคีกฺฤตฺย ตสฺยำ ยรฺทฺทนิ เตน มชฺชิตา พภูวุ: ฯ
7 And having seen many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming about his immersion, he said to them, “Brood of vipers! Who showed you to flee from the coming wrath?
อปรํ พหูนฺ ผิรูศิน: สิทูกินศฺจ มนุชานฺ มํกฺตุํ สฺวสมีปมฺ อาคจฺจฺโหฺต วิโลกฺย ส ตานฺ อภิทเธา, เร เร ภุชควํศา อาคามีน: โกปาตฺ ปลายิตุํ ยุษฺมานฺ กศฺเจติตวานฺ?
8 Bear, therefore, fruits worthy of conversion,
มน: ปราวรฺตฺตนสฺย สมุจิตํ ผลํ ผลตฯ
9 and do not think to say in yourselves, We have a father—Abraham, for I say to you that God is able to raise children to Abraham out of these stones,
กินฺตฺวสฺมากํ ตาต อิพฺราหีมฺ อสฺตีติ เสฺวษุ มน: สุ จีนฺตยนฺโต มา วฺยาหรตฯ ยโต ยุษฺมานฺ อหํ วทามิ, อีศฺวร เอเตภฺย: ปาษาเณภฺย อิพฺราหีม: สนฺตานานฺ อุตฺปาทยิตุํ ศกฺโนติฯ
10 and now also, the axe is laid to the root of the trees, therefore, every tree not bearing good fruit is cut down, and is cast into fire.
อปรํ ปาทปานำ มูเล กุฐาร อิทานีมปิ ลคนฺ อาเสฺต, ตสฺมาทฺ ยสฺมินฺ ปาทเป อุตฺตมํ ผลํ น ภวติ, ส กฺฤตฺโต มเธฺย'คฺนึ นิกฺเษปฺสฺยเตฯ
11 I indeed immerse you in water for conversion, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to carry the sandals, He will immerse you in the Holy Spirit and fire,
อปรมฺ อหํ มน: ปราวรฺตฺตนสูจเกน มชฺชเนน ยุษฺมานฺ มชฺชยามีติ สตฺยํ, กินฺตุ มม ปศฺจาทฺ ย อาคจฺฉติ, ส มตฺโตปิ มหานฺ, อหํ ตทีโยปานเหา โวฒุมปิ นหิ โยโคฺยสฺมิ, ส ยุษฺมานฺ วหฺนิรูเป ปวิตฺร อาตฺมนิ สํมชฺชยิษฺยติฯ
12 whose fan [is] in His hand, and He will thoroughly cleanse His floor, and will gather His wheat into the storehouse, but He will burn the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
ตสฺย กาเร สูรฺป อาเสฺต, ส สฺวียศสฺยานิ สมฺยกฺ ปฺรโสฺผฏฺย นิชานฺ สกลโคธูมานฺ สํคฺฤหฺย ภาณฺฑาคาเร สฺถาปยิษฺยติ, กึนฺตุ สรฺวฺวาณิ วุษาณฺยนิรฺวฺวาณวหฺนินา ทาหยิษฺยติฯ
13 Then Jesus comes from Galilee to John at the Jordan, to be immersed by him,
อนนฺตรํ ยีศุ โรฺยหนา มชฺชิโต ภวิตุํ คาลีลฺปฺรเทศาทฺ ยรฺทฺทนิ ตสฺย สมีปมฺ อาชคามฯ
14 but John was forbidding Him, saying, “I have need to be immersed by You—and You come to me?”
กินฺตุ โยหนฺ ตํ นิษิธฺย พภาเษ, ตฺวํ กึ มม สมีปมฺ อาคจฺฉสิ? วรํ ตฺวยา มชฺชนํ มม ปฺรโยชนมฺ อาเสฺตฯ
15 But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit [it] now, for thus it is fitting to us to fulfill all righteousness,” then he permits Him.
ตทานีํ ยีศุ: ปฺรตฺยโวจตฺ; อีทานีมฺ อนุมนฺยสฺว, ยต อิตฺถํ สรฺวฺวธรฺมฺมสาธนมฺ อสฺมากํ กรฺตฺตวฺยํ, ตต: โส'นฺวมนฺยตฯ
16 And having been immersed, Jesus immediately went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on Him,
อนนฺตรํ ยีศุรมฺมสิ มชฺชิตุ: สนฺ ตตฺกฺษณาตฺ โตยมธฺยาทฺ อุตฺถาย ชคาม, ตทา ชีมูตทฺวาเร มุกฺเต ชาเต, ส อีศฺวรสฺยาตฺมานํ กโปตวทฺ อวรุหฺย โสฺวปรฺยฺยาคจฺฉนฺตํ วีกฺษาญฺจเกฺรฯ
17 and behold, a voice out of the heavens, saying, “This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I delighted.”
อปรมฺ เอษ มม ปฺริย: ปุตฺร เอตสฺมินฺเนว มม มหาสนฺโตษ เอตาทฺฤศี โวฺยมชา วาคฺ พภูวฯ
