Matthew 26
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus finished all these words, He said to His disciples,
Or il arriva que lorsque Jésus eut achevé tous ces discours, il dit à ses disciples:
2 “You have known that after two days the Passover comes, and the Son of Man is delivered up to be crucified.”
Vous savez que la pâque se fera dans deux jours, et que le Fils de l’homme sera livré pour être crucifié.
3 Then were gathered together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, into the court of the chief priest who was called Caiaphas;
Alors les princes des prêtres et les anciens du peuple s’assemblèrent dans la salle du grand prêtre appelé Caïphe,
4 and they consulted together that they might take Jesus by guile, and kill [Him],
Et tinrent conseil pour se saisir de Jésus par ruse, et le faire mourir.
5 and they said, “Not in the celebration, that there may not be a tumult among the people.”
Mais ils disaient: Non pas un jour de la fête, de peur qu’il ne s’élevât du tumulte parmi le peuple.
6 And Jesus having been in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
Or, comme Jésus était à Béthanie, dans la maison de Simon le lépreux,
7 there came to Him a woman having an alabaster box of ointment, very precious, and she poured on His head as He is reclining.
Vint auprès de lui une femme ayant un vase d’albâtre plein d’un parfum de grand prix, et elle le répandit sur sa tête, lorsqu’il était à table.
8 And having seen [it], His disciples were much displeased, saying, “To what purpose [is] this waste?
Ce que voyant, ses disciples s’indignèrent, disant: Pourquoi cette perte?
9 For this ointment could have been sold for much, and given to the poor.”
Il pouvait, en effet, ce parfum, se vendre très cher et être donné aux pauvres.
10 And Jesus having known, said to them, “Why do you give trouble to the woman? For a good work she worked for Me;
Mais Jésus le sachant, leur dit: Pourquoi faites-vous de la peine à cette femme? c’est une bonne œuvre qu’elle a faite envers moi.
11 for you always have the poor with you, and you do not always have Me;
Car vous avez toujours les pauvres avec vous; mais moi, vous ne m’avez pas toujours.
12 for she having put this ointment on My body—for My burial she did [it].
Cette femme, en répandant ce parfum sur mon corps, l’a fait pour m’ensevelir.
13 Truly I say to you, wherever this good news may be proclaimed in the whole world, what this [one] did will also be spoken of—for a memorial of her.”
En vérité, je vous le dis, partout où sera prêché cet évangile, dans le monde entier, on dira même, en mémoire d’elle, ce qu’elle vient de faire.
14 Then one of the Twelve, who is called Judas Iscariot, having gone to the chief priests, said,
Alors un des douze, appelé Judas Iscariote, alla vers les princes des prêtres,
15 “What are you willing to give me, and I will deliver Him up to you?” And they weighed out to him thirty pieces of silver,
Et leur dit: Que voulez-vous me donner, et je vous le livrerai? Et ceux-ci lui assurèrent trente pièces d’argent.
16 and from that time he was seeking a convenient season to deliver Him up.
Et de ce moment il cherchait une occasion favorable pour le leur livrer.
17 And on the first [day] of the Unleavened [Bread] the disciples came near to Jesus, saying to Him, “Where will You [that] we may prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
Or, le premier jour des azymes, les disciples s’approchèrent de Jésus, disant: Où voulez-vous que nous vous préparions ce qu’il faut pour manger la pâque?
18 And He said, “Go away into the city, to such a one, and say to him, The Teacher says, My time is near; near you I keep the Passover with My disciples”;
Jésus répondit: Allez dans la ville, chez un tel, et dites-lui: Le maître dit: Mon temps est proche, je veux faire chez toi la pâque avec mes disciples.
19 and the disciples did as Jesus appointed them, and prepared the Passover.
Et les disciples firent comme Jésus leur commanda, et ils préparèrent la pâque.
20 And evening having come, He was reclining with the Twelve,
Le soir donc étant venu, il était à table avec ses douze disciples.
21 and while they are eating, He said, “Truly I say to you that one of you will deliver Me up.”
Et pendant qu’ils mangeaient, il dit: En vérité, je vous dis qu’un de vous doit me trahir.
22 And being grieved exceedingly, they began to say to Him, each of them, “Is it I, Lord?”
Alors, grandement contristés, ils commencèrent à lui demander chacun en particulier: Est-ce moi, Seigneur?
23 And He answering said, “He who dipped with Me the hand in the dish, he will deliver Me up;
Mais Jésus répondant, dit: Celui qui met avec moi la main dans le plat, celui-là me trahira.
24 the Son of Man indeed goes, as it has been written concerning Him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is delivered up! It were good for him if that man had not been born.”
Pour ce qui est du Fils de l’homme, il s’en va, selon ce qui a été écrit de lui; mais malheur à l’homme par qui le Fils de l’homme sera trahi; il vaudrait mieux pour cet homme qu’il ne fût pas né.
25 And Judas—he who delivered Him up—answering said, “Is it I, Rabbi?” He says to him, “You have said.”
Mais prenant la parole. Judas qui le trahit, dit: Est-ce moi, maître? Il lui répondit: Tu l’as dit.
26 And while they were eating, Jesus having taken the bread, and having blessed, broke, and was giving [it] to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat, this is My body”;
Or, pendant qu’ils soupeaient, Jésus prit le pain, le bénit, le rompit, et le donna à ses disciples, et dit: Prenez et mangez; ceci est mon corps.
27 and having taken the cup, and having given thanks, He gave to them, saying, “Drink of it—all;
Et, prenant le calice, il rendit grâces, et le leur donna, disant: Buvez-en tous.
28 for this is My blood of the New Covenant, that is being poured out for many, for forgiveness of sins;
Car ceci est mon sang, le sang du nouveau testament, qui sera répandu pour un grand nombre en rémission des péchés.
29 and I say to you that I may not drink from now on this produce of the vine, until that day when I may drink it with you new in the kingdom of My Father.”
Or, je vous le dis, je ne boirai plus désormais de ce fruit de la vigne, jusqu’au jour où je le boirai nouveau avec vous dans le royaume de mon Père.
30 And having sung a hymn, they went forth to the Mount of Olives;
Et l’hymne dit, ils s’en allèrent à la montagne des Oliviers.
31 then Jesus says to them, “All you will be stumbled at Me this night; for it has been written: I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered abroad;
Alors Jésus leur dit: Vous tous vous prendrez du scandale à mon sujet pendant cette nuit; car il est écrit: Je frapperai le pasteur, et les brebis du troupeau seront dispersées.
32 but after My having risen, I will go before you to Galilee.”
Mais, après que je serai ressuscité, je vous précéderai en Galilée.
33 And Peter answering said to Him, “Even if all will be stumbled at You, I will never be stumbled.”
Or, Pierre répondant, lui dit: Quand tous se scandaliseraient de vous, pour moi jamais je ne me scandaliserai.
34 Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you that this night, before rooster-crowing, three times you will deny Me.”
Jésus lui répondit: En vérité, je te dis que cette nuit même, avant qu’un coq chante, tu me renieras trois fois.
35 Peter says to Him, “Even if it may be necessary for me to die with You, I will not deny You”; in like manner also said all the disciples.
Pierre lui dit: Quand il me faudrait mourir avec vous, je ne vous renierai point. Et tous les disciples dirent aussi de même.
36 Then Jesus comes with them to a place called Gethsemane, and He says to the disciples, “Sit here, until having gone away, I will pray over there.”
Alors Jésus vint avec eux à une maison de campagne qui est appelée Gethsémani, et il dit à ses disciples: Asseyez-vous ici, pendant que j’irai là et que je prierai.
37 And having taken Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful, and to be very heavy;
Et ayant pris avec lui Pierre et les deux fils de Zébédée, il commença à s’attrister et à être affligé.
38 then He says to them, “Exceedingly sorrowful is My soul—to death; abide here, and watch with Me.”
Alors il leur dit: Mon âme est triste jusqu’à la mort; demeurez ici, et veillez avec moi.
39 And having gone forward a little, He fell on His face, praying, and saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You.”
Et, s’étant un peu avancé, il tomba sur sa face, priant et disant: Mon Père, s’il est possible, que ce calice passe loin de moi; toutefois, non ma volonté, mais la vôtre.
40 And He comes to the disciples, and finds them sleeping, and He says to Peter, “So! You were not able to watch with Me one hour!
Ensuite il vint à ses disciples, et il les trouva endormis, et Il dit à Pierre: Ainsi, vous n’avez pu veiller une heure avec moi.
41 Watch, and pray, that you may not enter into temptation: the spirit indeed is forward, but the flesh weak.”
Veillez et priez, afin que vous n’entriez point en tentation; à la vérité, l’esprit est prompt, mais la chair est faible.
42 Again, a second time, having gone away, He prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me except I drink it, Your will be done”;
Il s’en alla encore une seconde fois, et pria, disant: Mon Père, si ce calice ne peut passer sans que je le boive, que votre volonté se fasse.
43 and having come, He finds them again sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.
Il vint de nouveau, et les trouva dormant, car leurs yeux étaient appesantis.
44 And having left them, having gone away again, He prayed a third time, saying the same word;
Et les ayant laissés, il s’en alla encore, et pria une troisième fois, disant les mêmes paroles.
45 then He comes to His disciples and says to them, “Sleep on from now on, and rest! Behold, the hour has come near, and the Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of sinners.
Alors il revint à ses disciples, et leur dit: Dormez maintenant, et reposez-vous: voici que l’heure approche, et le Fils de l’homme sera livré aux mains des pécheurs.
46 Rise, let us go; behold, he who is delivering Me up has come near.”
Levez-vous, allons; voici qu’approche celui qui me livrera.
47 And while He is yet speaking, behold, Judas, one of the Twelve came, and with him a great multitude, with swords and sticks, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
Jésus parlant encore, voici que Judas, l’un des douze, vint, et, avec lui, une troupe nombreuse armée d’épées et de bâtons, envoyée par les princes des prêtres et par les anciens du peuple.
48 And he who delivered Him up gave them a sign, saying, “Whomsoever I will kiss, it is He, lay hold on Him”;
Or celui qui le livra, leur donna un signe, disant: Celui que je baiserai, c’est lui-même, saisissez-le.
49 and immediately, having come to Jesus, he said, “Greetings, Rabbi,” and kissed Him;
Et aussitôt, s’approchant de Jésus, il dit: Je vous salue, maître. Et il le baisa.
50 and Jesus said to him, “Friend, for what are you present?” Then having come near, they laid hands on Jesus, and took hold on Him.
Et Jésus lui répondit: Mon ami, dans quel dessein es-tu venu? Alors ils s’avancèrent, mirent la main sur Jésus et se saisirent de lui.
51 And behold, one of those with Jesus, having stretched forth the hand, drew his sword, and having struck the servant of the chief priest, he took off his ear.
Et voilà qu’un de ceux qui étaient avec Jésus, étendant la main, tira son épée, et, frappant le serviteur du prince des prêtres, lui coupa l’oreille.
52 Then Jesus says to him, “Turn back your sword to its place; for all who took the sword will perish by the sword;
Alors Jésus lui dit: Remets ton épée en son lieu; car tous ceux qui se serviront de l’épée périront par l’épée.
53 do you think that I am not able now to call on My Father, and He will place beside Me more than twelve legions of messengers?
Penses-tu que je ne puisse pas prier mon Père, et qu’il ne m’enverra pas à l’heure même plus de douze légions d’anges?
54 How then may the Writings be fulfilled, that thus it must happen?”
Comment donc s’accompliront les Ecritures, disant qu’il doit en être ainsi?
55 In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, “Did you come forth as against a robber, with swords and sticks, to take Me? Daily I was with you sitting, teaching in the temple, and you did not lay hold on Me;
En cette heure-là, Jésus dit à la troupe: Vous êtes sortis comme contre un voleur avec des épées et des bâtons afin de me prendre; j’étais tous les jours assis parmi vous, enseignant dans le temple, et vous ne m’avez point pris.
56 but all this has come to pass, that the Writings of the prophets may be fulfilled”; then all the disciples, having left Him, fled.
Or tout cela s’est fait, pour que s’accomplissent les Ecritures des prophètes. Alors tous les disciples l’abandonnant, s’enfuirent.
57 And those laying hold on Jesus led [Him] away to Caiaphas the chief priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together,
Mais les autres, se saisissant de Jésus, l’emmenèrent chez Caïphe, prince des prêtres, où s’étaient assemblés les scribes et les anciens du peuple.
58 and Peter was following Him far off, to the court of the chief priest, and having gone in within, he was sitting with the officers, to see the end.
Or Pierre le suivit de loin, jusque dans la cour du prince des prêtres; et y étant entré, il s’assit avec les serviteurs, pour voir la fin.
59 And the chief priests, and the elders, and all the council, were seeking false witness against Jesus, that they might put Him to death,
Cependant les princes des prêtres et tout le conseil cherchaient un faux témoignage contre Jésus, pour le livrer à la mort.
60 and they did not find; and many false witnesses having come near, they did not find; and at last two false witnesses having come near,
Et ils n’en trouvèrent point, quoique beaucoup de faux témoins se fussent présentés. En dernier lieu, vinrent deux faux témoins,
61 said, “This One said, I am able to throw down the temple of God, and after three days to build it.”
Et ils dirent: Celui-ci a dit: Je puis détruire le temple de Dieu, et, après trois jours, le rebâtir.
62 And the chief priest having stood up, said to Him, “Nothing You answer? What do these witness against You?”
Alors le prince des prêtres se levant, lui dit: Tu ne réponds rien à ce que ceux-ci témoignent contre toi?
63 And Jesus was silent. And the chief priest answering said to Him, “I adjure You, by the living God, that You may say to us if You are the Christ—the Son of God.”
Mais Jésus se taisait. Et le prince des prêtres lui dit: Je t’adjure par le Dieu vivant de nous dire si tu es le Christ, le Fils de Dieu.
64 Jesus says to him, “You have said; nevertheless I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of Heaven.”
Jésus lui répondit: Tu l’as dit. De plus, je vous le déclare, vous verrez un jour le Fils de l’homme assis à la droite de la majesté de Dieu, et venant dans les nuées du ciel.
65 Then the chief priest tore his garments, saying, “He has slandered; what need have we yet of witnesses? Behold, now you heard His slander;
Aussitôt le prince des prêtres déchira ses vêtements, disant: Il a blasphémé; qu’avons-nous encore besoin de témoins? voilà que maintenant vous avez entendu le blasphème.
66 what do you think?” And they answering said, “He is worthy of death.”
Que vous en semble? Et eux répondant, dirent: Il mérite la mort.
67 Then they spit in His face and punched Him, and others slapped,
Alors ils lui crachèrent au visage, et le déchirèrent à coups de poing; et d’autres lui donnèrent des soufflets,
68 saying, “Declare to us, O Christ, who he is that struck You?”
Disant: Christ, prophétise-nous, qui est celui qui t’a frappé?
69 And Peter was sitting in the court outside, and there came near to him a certain maid, saying, “And you were with Jesus of Galilee!”
Cependant Pierre était assis dehors dans la cour; et une servante s’approcha de lui, disant: Et toi aussi tu étais avec Jésus le Galiléen?
70 And he denied before all, saying, “I have not known what you say.”
Mais il nia devant tous, disant: Je ne sais ce que tu veux dire.
71 And he having gone forth to the porch, another female saw him, and says to those there, “And this one was with Jesus of Nazareth”;
Et comme il sortait hors de la porte, une autre servante l’aperçut et dit à ceux qui se trouvaient là: Celui-ci était aussi avec Jésus de Nazareth.
72 and again he denied with an oath, “I have not known the Man.”
Et il le nia de nouveau avec serment, disant: Je ne connais point cet homme.
73 And after a while those standing near having come, said to Peter, “Truly you also are of them, for even your speech makes you evident.”
Peu après, ceux qui se trouvaient là s’approchèrent et dirent à Pierre: Certainement, toi aussi tu es de ces gens-là; ton langage te décèle.
74 Then he began to curse, and to swear, “I have not known the Man”; and immediately a rooster crowed,
Alors il se mit à faire des imprécations et à jurer qu’il ne connaissait point cet homme. Et aussitôt un coq chanta.
75 and Peter remembered the saying of Jesus, He having said to him, “Before rooster-crowing, you will deny Me three times”; and having gone outside, he wept bitterly.
Et Pierre se souvint de cette parole que Jésus lui avait dite: Avant qu’un coq chante, tu me renieras trois fois. Et étant sorti, il pleura amèrement.
