Matthew 25
1 “Then will the kingdom of the heavens be likened to ten virgins, who, having taken their lamps, went forth to meet the bridegroom;
Alors le Royaume des cieux sera semblable à dix vierges qui ayant pris leurs lampes, s'en allèrent au-devant de l'époux.
2 and five of them were prudent, and five foolish;
Or il y en avait cinq sages, et cinq folles.
3 they who were foolish having taken their lamps, did not take with themselves oil;
Les folles, en prenant leurs lampes, n'avaient point pris d'huile avec elles.
4 and the prudent took oil in their vessels, with their lamps.
Mais les sages avaient pris de l'huile dans leurs vaisseaux avec leurs lampes.
5 And the bridegroom lingering, they all nodded and were sleeping,
Et comme l'époux tardait à venir, elles sommeillèrent toutes, et s'endormirent.
6 and in the middle of the night a cry was made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go forth to meet him!
Or à minuit il se fit un cri, [disant]: voici, l'époux vient, sortez au-devant de lui.
7 Then all those virgins rose, and trimmed their lamps,
Alors toutes ces vierges se levèrent, et préparèrent leurs lampes.
8 and the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out;
Et les folles dirent aux sages: donnez-nous de votre huile, car nos lampes s'éteignent.
9 and the prudent answered, saying, Lest there may not be sufficient for us and you, go rather to those selling, and buy for yourselves.
Mais les sages répondirent, en disant: [Nous ne pouvons vous en donner], de peur que nous n'en ayons pas assez pour nous et pour vous; mais plutôt allez vers ceux qui en vendent, et en achetez pour vous-mêmes.
10 And while they are going away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those ready went in with him to the wedding feasts, and the door was shut;
Or pendant qu'elles en allaient acheter, l'époux vint; et celles qui étaient prêtes entrèrent avec lui dans la salle des noces, puis la porte fut fermée.
11 and afterward come also the rest of the virgins, saying, Lord, lord, open to us;
Après cela les autres vierges vinrent aussi, et dirent: Seigneur! Seigneur! ouvre-nous!
12 and he answering said, Truly I say to you, I have not known you.
Mais il leur répondit, et dit: en vérité je ne vous connais point.
13 Watch therefore, for you have not known the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man comes.
Veillez donc; car vous ne savez ni le jour ni l'heure en laquelle le Fils de l'homme viendra.
14 For—as a man going abroad called his own servants, and delivered to them his substance,
Car il en est [de lui] comme d'un homme qui s'en allant dehors, appela ses serviteurs, et leur commit ses biens.
15 and to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his several ability, went abroad immediately.
Et il donna à l'un cinq talents, et à l'autre deux, et à un autre un; à chacun selon sa portée; et aussitôt après il partit.
16 And he who received the five talents, having gone, worked with them, and made five other talents;
Or celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents, s'en alla, et en trafiqua, et gagna cinq autres talents.
17 in like manner also he who [received] the two, he gained, also he, other two;
De même celui qui avait reçu les deux talents, en gagna aussi deux autres.
18 and he who received the one, having gone away, dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
Mais celui qui n'en avait reçu qu'un, s'en alla, et l'enfouit dans la terre, et cacha l'argent de son maître.
19 And after a long time comes the lord of those servants, and takes reckoning with them;
Or longtemps après le maître de ces serviteurs vint, et fit compte avec eux.
20 and he who received the five talents, having come, brought five other talents, saying, Lord, you delivered five talents to me; behold, I gained five other talents besides them.
Alors celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents, vint, et présenta cinq autres talents, en disant: Seigneur, tu m'as confié cinq talents, voici, j'en ai gagné cinq autres par-dessus.
21 And his lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, you were faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things; enter into the joy of your lord.
Et son Seigneur lui dit: cela va bien, bon et fidèle serviteur; tu as été fidèle en peu de chose, je t'établirai sur beaucoup; viens participer à la joie de ton Seigneur.
22 And he also, who received the two talents, having come, said, Lord, you delivered to me two talents; behold, I gained two other talents besides them.
Ensuite celui qui avait reçu les deux talents, vint, et dit: Seigneur, tu m'as confié deux talents; voici, j'en ai gagné deux autres par-dessus.
23 His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant, you were faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things; enter into the joy of your lord.
Et son seigneur lui dit: cela va bien, bon et fidèle serviteur, tu as été fidèle en peu de chose, je t'établirai sur beaucoup: viens prendre part à la joie de ton Seigneur.
24 And he also who has received the one talent, having come, said, Lord, I knew you, that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering from where you did not scatter;
Mais celui qui n'avait reçu qu'un talent, vint, et dit: Seigneur, je savais que tu es un homme dur, qui moissonnes où tu n'as point semé; et qui amasses où tu n'as point répandu.
25 and having been afraid, having gone away, I hid your talent in the earth; behold, you have your own!
C'est pourquoi craignant [de perdre ton talent], je suis allé le cacher dans la terre; voici, tu as [ici] ce qui t'appartient.
26 And his lord answering said to him, Evil servant, and slothful, you had known that I reap where I did not sow, and I gather from where I did not scatter!
Et son Seigneur répondant, lui dit: méchant et lâche serviteur, tu savais que je moissonnais où je n'ai point semé, et que j'amassais où je n'ai point répandu.
27 It was necessary [for] you then to put my money to the money-lenders, and having come I had received my own with increase.
Il fallait donc que tu donnasses mon argent aux banquiers, et à mon retour je l'aurais reçu avec l'intérêt.
28 Take therefore from him the talent, and give to him having the ten talents,
Otez-lui donc le talent, et donnez-le à celui qui a les dix talents.
29 for to everyone having will be given, and he will have overabundance, and from him who is not having, even that which he has will be taken from him;
Car à chacun qui a, il sera donné, et il en aura encore plus, mais à celui qui n'a rien, cela même qu'il a, lui sera ôté.
30 and cast forth the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness; there will be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.
Jetez donc le serviteur inutile dans les ténèbres de dehors; là il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
31 And whenever the Son of Man may come in His glory, and all the holy messengers with Him, then He will sit on a throne of His glory;
Or quand le Fils de l'homme viendra environné de sa gloire et accompagné de tous les saints Anges, alors il s'assiéra sur le trône de sa gloire.
32 and all the nations will be gathered together before Him, and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats,
Et toutes les nations seront assemblées devant lui; et il séparera les uns d'avec les autres, comme le berger sépare les brebis d'avec les boucs.
33 and He will set the sheep indeed on His right hand, and the goats on the left.
Et il mettra les brebis à sa droite, et les boucs à sa gauche.
34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, Come, the blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom that has been prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
Alors le Roi dira à ceux qui seront à sa droite: venez les bénis de mon Père, possédez en héritage le Royaume qui vous a été préparé dès la fondation du monde.
35 for I hungered, and you gave Me to eat; I thirsted, and you gave Me to drink; I was a stranger, and you received Me;
Car j'ai eu faim, et vous m'avez donné à manger; j'ai eu soif, et vous m'avez donné à boire; j'étais étranger, et vous m'avez recueilli;
36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you looked after Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.
J'étais nu, et vous m'avez vêtu; j'étais malade, et vous m'avez visité; j'étais en prison, et vous êtes venus vers moi.
37 Then will the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungering, and we nourished? Or thirsting, and we gave to drink?
Alors les justes lui répondront, en disant: Seigneur, quand est-ce que nous t'avons vu avoir faim, et que nous t'avons donné à manger; ou avoir soif, et que nous t'avons donné à boire?
38 And when did we see You a stranger, and we received? Or naked, and we clothed?
Et quand est-ce que nous t'avons vu étranger, et que nous t'avons recueilli; ou nu, et que nous t'avons vêtu?
39 And when did we see You ailing or in prison, and we came to You?
Ou quand est-ce que nous t'avons vu malade, ou en prison, et que nous sommes venus vers toi?
40 And the King answering, will say to them, Truly I say to you, inasmuch as you did [it] to one of these My brothers—the least—you did [it] to Me.
Et le Roi répondant, leur dira: en vérité je vous dis, qu'en tant que vous avez fait ces choses à l'un de ces plus petits de mes frères, vous me l'avez fait [à moi-même].
41 Then will He say also to those on the left hand, Go from Me, the cursed, into the continuous fire that has been prepared for the Devil and his messengers; (aiōnios g166)
Alors il dira aussi à ceux qui seront à sa gauche: Maudits retirez-vous de moi, et [allez] au feu éternel, qui est préparé au diable et à ses anges. (aiōnios g166)
42 for I hungered, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I thirsted, and you gave Me nothing to drink;
Car j'ai eu faim, et vous ne m'avez point donné à manger; j'ai eu soif et vous ne m'avez point donné à boire;
43 I was a stranger, and you did not receive Me; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick and in prison, and you did not look after Me.
J'étais étranger, et vous ne m'avez point recueilli; j'ai été nu, et vous ne m'avez point vêtu; j'ai été malade et en prison, et vous ne m'avez point visité.
44 Then they will answer, they also, saying, Lord, when did we see You hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and we did not minister to You?
Alors ceux-là aussi lui répondront, en disant: Seigneur, quand est-ce que nous t'avons vu avoir faim, ou avoir soif, ou être étranger, ou nu, ou malade, ou en prison, et que nous ne t'avons point secouru?
45 Then will He answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, inasmuch as you did [it] not to one of these, the least, you did [it] not to Me.
Alors il leur répondra, en disant: en vérité je vous dis, que parce que vous n'avez point fait ces choses à l'un de ces plus petits, vous ne me l'avez point fait aussi.
