< Matthew 16 >

1 And the Pharisees and Sadducees having come, tempting, questioned Him, to show to them a sign from Heaven,
Farasinawk hoi Sadusinawk anih khaeah angzoh o moe, nihcae khaeah van bang ih angmathaih amtuengsak hanah tanoek o.

Anih mah nihcae khaeah, duembang phak naah loe, tamai to thim pongah, kho hoi tih, tiah na thuih o.
3 and at morning, Foul weather today, for the sky is red—gloomy; hypocrites, you indeed know to discern the face of the sky, but the signs of the times you are not able!
Akhawnbang ah loe, tamai to thim moe, tamai thah pongah, vahni loe kho hoih mak ai, tiah na thuih o: Aw nangcae angsah thaih kaminawk, van ih khotue loe na panoek o thaih e, atue angmathaih loe na panoek o thai ai maw?
4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign, and a sign will not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet”; and having left them He went away.
Kami kasae hoi zu sava laep ah zaehaih sah caanawk mah loe angmathaih to pakrong o; tahmaa Jonah ih angmathaih khue ai ah loe, angmathaih paek ih tidoeh om mak ai boeh, tiah pathim pae. To pacoengah nihcae to kalah bangah caehtaak ving.

8 And Jesus having known, said to them, “Why reason you in yourselves, you of little faith, because you took no loaves?
To tiah a thuih o ih lok to Jesu mah thaih naah, Tanghaih tamsi kaminawk, takaw na sin o ai pongah maw, nangmacae hoi nangmacae salakah to baktih lok to nang dueng o?
9 Do you not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many hand-baskets you took up?
Kami sang pangato mah takaw kae pangato caak o naah, benthang nazetto maw na phromh o, tito na panoek o ai boeh maw?
10 Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets you took up?
Kami sang palito mah takaw kae sarihto caak o naah, benthang nazetto maw na phromh o?
11 How do you not understand that I did not speak to you of bread—to take heed of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?”

12 Then they understood that He did not say to take heed of the leaven of the bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
To pacoengah loe a hnukbang kaminawk mah takaw thungah kaom taeh hoi acoe han thuih ih na ai ni, Farasi hoi Sadusinawk ih patukhaih thung hoiah acoe han ih ni a thuih, tito panoek o.
13 And Jesus, having come to the parts of Caesarea Philippi, was asking His disciples, saying, “Who do men say I am—the Son of Man?”

16 And Simon Peter answering said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
To naah Simon Piter mah, Nang loe Kri, kahing Sithaw ih Capa ni, tiah a naa.
17 And Jesus answering said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jona, because flesh and blood did not reveal [it] to you, but My Father who is in the heavens.
Jesu mah anih khaeah, Nang Simon Barjona, taham na hoih: taksa hoi athii mah to hmuen to ang panoeksak ih na ai ni, van ah kaom kam Pa mah ni ang panoeksak.
18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My Assembly, and [the] gates of Hades will not prevail against it; (Hadēs g86)

Van prae cabi to kang paek han: long nuiah na taoeng ih hmuen boih van ah taoeng tih: long nuiah na khram ih hmuen boih van ah khram tih, tiah a naa.
20 Then He charged His disciples that they may say to no one that He is Jesus the Christ.

21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that it is necessary for Him to go away to Jerusalem, and to suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be put to death, and the third day to rise.
To nathuem hoi kamtong a hnukbang kaminawk khaeah Jesu mah, Anih loe Jerusalem ah caeh tih, kacoehtanawk, kalen koek qaimanawk hoi ca tarik kaminawk ban thung hoiah congca patangkhanghaih to tong tih, anih to hum o ueloe, ni thumto naah angthawk let tih, tiah kamtuengta ah a thuih pae.

To pacoengah Jesu mah a hnukbang kaminawk khaeah, ka hnukah bang koeh kami loe, angmah hoi angmah to angmaa nasoe, angmah ih thinglam to aput hoiah ka hnukah bang nasoe.
25 for whoever may will to save his life will lose it, and whoever may lose his life for My sake will find it;
Mi kawbaktih doeh a hinghaih pahlong kami loe anghmaa tih: toe mi kawbaktih doeh kai pongah a hinghaih anghmaa kami loe hinghaih to hnu tih.
26 for what is a man profited if he may gain the whole world, but of his life suffer loss? Or what will a man give as an exchange for his life?
Kami maeto mah longpum a tawnh, toe a hinghaih anghma ving nahaeloe, tih atho maw om tih, to tih ai boeh loe a hinghaih tih hoiah maw anglai thai tih?
27 For the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of His Father, with His messengers, and then He will reward each according to his work.
