Matthew 11
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus finished directing His twelve disciples, He departed from there to teach and to preach in their cities.
Quando Jesus terminou de dirigir seus doze discípulos, ele partiu de lá para ensinar e pregar em suas cidades.
2 And John having heard in the prison the works of the Christ, having sent two of his disciples,
Agora, quando João ouviu na prisão as obras de Cristo, enviou dois de seus discípulos
3 said to Him, “Are You He who is coming, or do we look for another?”
e lhe disse: “Você é aquele que vem, ou devemos procurar outro”?
4 And Jesus answering said to them, “Having gone, declare to John the things that you hear and see,
Jesus lhes respondeu: “Ide e dizei a João as coisas que ouvis e vedes”:
5 blind receive sight, and lame walk, lepers are cleansed, and deaf hear, dead are raised, and poor have good news proclaimed,
os cegos recebem sua visão, os coxos andam, os leprosos são limpos, os surdos ouvem, os mortos ressuscitam e os pobres têm boas notícias pregadas a eles.
6 and blessed is he who may not be stumbled in Me.”
Bem-aventurado aquele que não encontra ocasião para tropeçar em mim”.
7 And as they are going, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John, “What did you go out to the wilderness to view? A reed shaken by the wind?
Enquanto estes seguiam seu caminho, Jesus começou a dizer às multidões a respeito de João: “O que vocês saíram para o deserto para ver? Um caniço abalado pelo vento?
8 But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, those wearing the soft things are in the kings’ houses.
Mas o que vocês saíram para ver? Um homem com roupas macias? Eis que aqueles que vestem roupas macias estão nas casas dos reis.
9 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet,
Mas por que você saiu? Para ver um profeta? Sim, eu lhe digo, e muito mais do que um profeta.
10 for this is he of whom it has been written: Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way before You.
Pois é ele, de quem está escrito: “Eis que eu envio meu mensageiro diante de vosso rosto, que vos preparará o caminho”.
11 Truly I say to you, there has not risen, among those born of women, [one] greater than John the Immerser, but he who is least in the kingdom of the heavens is greater than he.
Certamente vos digo, entre aqueles que nascem de mulheres não surgiu ninguém maior do que João Batista; no entanto, aquele que está menos no Reino dos Céus é maior do que ele.
12 And from the days of John the Immerser until now, the kingdom of the heavens suffers violence, and violent men seize it by force,
Desde os dias de João Batista até agora, o Reino dos Céus sofre violência, e os violentos o tomam pela força.
13 for all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John,
Para todos os profetas e a lei profetizou até João.
14 and if you are willing to receive [it], he is Elijah who was about to come;
Se você está disposto a recebê-lo, este é Elias, que está por vir.
15 he who is having ears to hear—let him hear.
Aquele que tem ouvidos para ouvir, que ouça.
16 And to what will I liken this generation? It is like little children in marketplaces, sitting and calling to others,
“Mas a que devo comparar esta geração? É como as crianças sentadas nos mercados, que chamam seus companheiros
17 and saying, We piped to you, and you did not dance, we lamented to you, and you did not strike the breast.
e dizem: 'Tocamos flauta para você, e você não dançou'. Lamentamos por você, e você não lamentou'.
18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He has a demon;
Pois John não veio comer nem beber, e dizem: 'Ele tem um demônio'.
19 the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a man, a glutton, and a wine-drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners; and wisdom was justified of her children.”
O Filho do Homem veio comer e beber, e eles dizem: 'Eis um homem glutão e um bêbado, amigo de cobradores de impostos e pecadores'! Mas a sabedoria é justificada por seus filhos”.
20 Then He began to reproach the cities in which were done most of His mighty works, because they did not convert.
Então ele começou a denunciar as cidades nas quais a maioria de suas obras poderosas havia sido feita, porque não se arrependiam.
21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! Because, if in Tyre and Sidon had been done the mighty works that were done in you, long ago in sackcloth and ashes they had converted;
“Ai de você, Chorazin! Ai de você, Bethsaida! Pois se as obras poderosas tivessem sido feitas em Tyre e Sidon que foram feitas em você, eles já se teriam arrependido há muito tempo em saco e cinzas.
22 but I say to you, to Tyre and Sidon it will be more tolerable in [the] day of judgment than for you.
Mas eu lhes digo que será mais tolerável para Tyre e Sidon no dia do julgamento do que para vocês.
23 And you, Capernaum, which were exalted to Heaven, will be brought down to Hades, because if the mighty works that were done in you had been done in Sodom, it had remained to this day; (Hadēs g86)
Você, Cafarnaum, que está exaltado ao céu, descerá ao Hades. Pois se em Sodoma tivessem sido feitas as obras poderosas que foram feitas em vocês, elas teriam permanecido até hoje. (Hadēs g86)
24 but I say to you, to the land of Sodom it will be more tolerable in [the] day of judgment than to you.”
Mas eu vos digo que será mais tolerável para a terra de Sodoma no dia do julgamento, do que para vós”.
25 At that time Jesus answering said, “I confess to You, Father, Lord of the heavens and of the earth, that You hid these things from wise and understanding ones, and revealed them to babies.
Naquele tempo, Jesus respondeu: “Eu te agradeço, Pai, Senhor do céu e da terra, que escondeste estas coisas dos sábios e entendidos, e as revelaste aos bebês”.
26 Yes, Father, because so it was good pleasure before You.
Sim, Pai, pois assim foi agradável à tua vista.
27 All things were delivered to Me by My Father, and none know the Son, except the Father, nor does any know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son may resolve to reveal [Him].
Todas as coisas me foram entregues por meu Pai. Ninguém conhece o Filho, exceto o Pai; nem ninguém conhece o Pai, exceto o Filho e aquele a quem o Filho deseja revelá-lo.
28 Come to Me, all you laboring and burdened ones, and I will give you rest;
“Vinde a mim, todos vocês que trabalham e estão sobrecarregados, e eu lhes darei descanso”.
29 take up My yoke on you, and learn from Me, because I am meek and humble in heart, and you will find rest to your souls,
Tomai sobre vós o meu jugo e aprendei de mim, pois sou manso e humilde de coração; e encontrareis descanso para vossas almas”.
30 for My yoke [is] easy, and My burden is light.”
Pois o meu jugo é fácil, e meu fardo é leve”.
