Mark 15
1 And immediately, in the morning, the chief priests having made a consultation with the elders, and scribes, and the whole Sanhedrin, having bound Jesus, led [Him] away, and delivered [Him] to Pilate;
Et confestim, mane consilium facientes summi sacerdotes cum senioribus, et scribis, et universo concilio, vincientes Iesum, duxerunt, et tradiderunt Pilato.
2 and Pilate questioned Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And He answering said to him, “You say [it].”
Et interrogavit eum Pilatus: Tu es rex Iudæorum? At ille respondens, ait illi: Tu dicis.
3 And the chief priests were accusing Him of many things, [but He answered nothing.]
Et accusabant eum summi sacerdotes in multis.
4 And Pilate again questioned Him, saying, “You do not answer anything? Behold, how many things they testify against You!”
Pilatus autem rursum interrogavit eum, dicens: Non respondes quidquam? Vide in quantis te accusant.
5 And Jesus no longer answered anything, so that Pilate wondered.
Iesus autem amplius nihil respondit, ita ut miraretur Pilatus.
6 And at every celebration he was releasing to them one prisoner, whomsoever they were asking for;
Per diem autem festum solebat dimittere illis unum ex vinctis, quemcumque petissent.
7 and there was [one] named Barabbas, bound with those making insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.
Erat autem qui dicebatur Barrabas, qui cum seditiosis erat vinctus, qui in seditione fecerat homicidium.
8 And the multitude having cried out, began to ask for themselves as he was always doing to them,
Et cum ascendisset turba, cœpit rogare, sicut semper faciebat illis.
9 and Pilate answered them, saying, “Will you [that] I will release to you the King of the Jews?”
Pilatus autem respondit eis, et dixit: Vultis dimittam vobis regem Iudæorum?
10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered Him up because of envy;
Sciebat enim quod per invidiam tradidissent eum summi sacerdotes.
11 and the chief priests moved the multitude that he might rather release Barabbas to them.
Pontifices autem concitaverunt turbam, ut magis Barabbam dimitteret eis.
12 And Pilate answering, again said to them, “What, then, will you [that] I will do to Him whom you call King of the Jews?”
Pilatus autem iterum respondens, ait illis: Quid ergo vultis faciam regi Iudæorum?
13 And they again cried out, “Crucify Him!”
At illi iterum clamaverunt: Crucifige eum.
14 And Pilate said to them, “Why—what evil did He do?” And they cried out the more vehemently, “Crucify Him!”
Pilatus vero dicebat illis: Quid enim mali fecit? At illi magis clamabant: Crucifige eum.
15 And Pilate, resolving to do that which [was] satisfactory to the multitude, released Barabbas to them, and delivered up Jesus—having scourged [Him]—that He might be crucified.
Pilatus autem volens populo satisfacere, dimisit illis Barabbam, et tradidit Iesum flagellis cæsum, ut crucifigeretur.
16 And the soldiers led Him away into the hall, which is [the] Praetorium, and call together the whole band,
Milites autem duxerunt eum in atrium prætorii, et convocant totam cohortem,
17 and clothe Him with purple, and having plaited a garland of thorns, they put [it] on Him,
et induunt eum purpura, et imponunt ei plectentes spineam coronam.
18 and began to greet Him, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
Et cœperunt salutare eum: Ave rex Iudæorum.
19 And they were striking Him on the head with a reed, and were spitting on Him, and having bent the knee, were prostrating to Him,
Et percutiebant caput eius arundine: et conspuebant eum, et ponentes genua, adorabant eum.
20 and when they [had] mocked Him, they took the purple from off Him, and clothed Him in His own garments, and they led Him forth, that they may crucify Him.
Et postquam illuserunt ei, exuerunt illum purpura, et induerunt eum vestimentis suis: et educunt illum ut crucifigerent eum.
21 And they impress a certain one passing by—Simon, a Cyrenian, coming from the field, the father of Alexander and Rufus—that he may carry His cross,
Et angariaverunt prætereuntem quempiam, Simonem Cyrenæum venientem de villa, patrem Alexandri, et Rufi, ut tolleret crucem eius.
22 and they bring Him to the place [called] Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, “Place of [the] Skull”;
Et perducunt illum in Golgotha locum: quod est interpretatum Calvariæ locus.
23 and they were giving Him wine mingled with myrrh to drink, and He did not receive [it].
Et dabant ei bibere myrrhatum vinum: et non accepit.
24 And having crucified Him, they were dividing His garments, casting a lot on them, what each may take;
Et crucifigentes eum, diviserunt vestimenta eius, mittentes sortem super eis, quis quid tolleret.
25 and it was the third hour, and they crucified Him;
Erat autem hora tertia: et crucifixerunt eum.
26 and the inscription of His accusation was written above: “THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
Et erat titulus causæ eius inscriptus: REX IUDÆORUM.
27 And they crucify two robbers with Him, one on the right hand and one on His left,
Et cum eo crucifigunt duos latrones: unum a dextris, et alium a sinistris eius.
28 [[and the Writing was fulfilled that is saying, “And He was numbered with lawless ones.”]]
Et impleta est scriptura, quæ dicit: Et cum iniquis reputatus est.
29 And those passing by were slandering Him, shaking their heads, and saying, “Ha! The [One] throwing down the temple, and building [it] in three days!
Et prætereuntes blasphemabant eum, moventes capita sua, et dicentes: Vah qui destruis templum Dei, et in tribus diebus reædificas:
30 Save Yourself, and come down from the cross!”
salvum fac temetipsum descendens de cruce.
31 And in like manner also the chief priests, mocking with one another, with the scribes, said, “He saved others; He is not able to save Himself.
Similiter et summi sacerdotes illudentes, ad alterutrum cum scribis dicebant: Alios salvos fecit, seipsum non potest salvum facere.
32 The Christ! The King of Israel—let Him come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe”; and those crucified with Him were reproaching Him.
Christus rex Israel descendat nunc de cruce, ut videamus, et credamus. Et qui cum eo crucifixi erant, convitiabantur ei.
33 And the sixth hour having come, darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour,
Et facta hora sexta, tenebræ factæ sunt per totam terram usque in horam nonam.
34 and at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a great voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lamma sabachthani?” Which is, being interpreted, “My God, My God, why did You forsake Me?”
Et hora nona exclamavit Iesus voce magna, dicens: Eloi, eloi, lamma sabacthani? quod est interpretatum: Deus meus, Deus meus, ut quid dereliquisti me?
35 And certain of those standing by, having heard, said, “Behold, He calls Elijah”;
Et quidam de circumstantibus audientes, dicebant: Ecce Eliam vocat.
36 and one having run, and having filled a sponge with vinegar, having also put [it] on a reed, was giving Him to drink, saying, “Let alone, let us see if Elijah comes to take Him down.”
Currens autem unus, et implens spongiam aceto, circumponensque calamo, potum dabat ei, dicens: Sinite, videamus si veniat Elias ad deponendum eum.
37 And Jesus having uttered a loud cry, yielded the spirit,
Iesus autem emissa voce magna expiravit.
38 and the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom,
Et velum templi scissum est in duo, a summo usque deorsum.
39 and the centurion who was standing opposite Him, having seen that, having so cried out, He yielded the spirit, said, “Truly this Man was [the] Son of God.”
Videns autem Centurio, qui ex adverso stabat, quia sic clamans expirasset, ait: Vere hic homo Filius Dei erat.
40 And there were also women beholding far off, among whom was also Mary the Magdalene, and Mary of James the less, and of Joses, and Salome,
Erant autem et mulieres de longe aspicientes: inter quas erat Maria Magdalene, et Maria Iacobi minoris, et Ioseph mater, et Salome:
41 who also, when He was in Galilee, were following Him and were ministering to Him, and many other women who came up with Him to Jerusalem.
et cum esset in Galilæa, sequebantur eum, et ministrabant ei, et aliæ multæ, quæ simul cum eo ascenderant Ierosolymam.
42 And now evening having come, seeing it was the Preparation, that is, before Sabbath,
Et cum iam sero esset factum (quia erat parasceve, quod est ante Sabbatum)
43 Joseph of Arimathea, an honorable counselor, who also himself was waiting for the Kingdom of God, came, boldly entered in to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus.
venit Ioseph ab Arimathæa nobilis decurio, qui et ipse erat expectans regnum Dei, et audacter introivit ad Pilatum, et petiit corpus Iesu.
44 And Pilate wondered if He were already dead, and having called near the centurion, questioned him if He were long dead,
Pilatus autem mirabatur si iam obiisset. Et accersito centurione, interrogavit eum si iam mortuus esset.
45 and having known [it] from the centurion, he granted the body to Joseph.
Et cum cognovisset a centurione, donavit corpus Ioseph.
46 And he, having brought fine linen, and having taken Him down, wrapped Him in the linen, and laid Him in a tomb that had been hewn out of a rock, and he rolled a stone to the door of the tomb,
Ioseph autem mercatus sindonem, et deponens eum involvit sindone, et posuit eum in monumento, quod erat excisum de petra, et advolvit lapidem ad ostium monumenti.
47 and Mary the Magdalene, and Mary of Joses, were beholding where He is laid.
Maria autem Magdalene, et Maria Ioseph aspiciebant ubi poneretur.
