< Mark 13 >
1 And as He is going forth out of the temple, one of His disciples says to Him, “Teacher, see! What stones! And what buildings!”
Et cum egrederetur de templo, ait illi unus ex discipulis suis: Magister, aspice quales lapides, et quales structuræ.
2 And Jesus answering said to him, “See these great buildings? There may not be left a stone on a stone that may not be thrown down.”
Et respondens Iesus, ait illi: Vides has omnes magnas ædificationes? Non relinquetur lapis super lapidem, qui non destruatur.
3 And as He is sitting at the Mount of Olives, opposite the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, were questioning Him by Himself,
Et cum sederet in Monte olivarum contra templum, interrogabant eum separatim Petrus, et Iacobus, et Ioannes, et Andreas:
4 “Tell us when these things will be? And what [is] the sign when all these may be about to be fulfilled?”
Dic nobis, quando ista fient? et quod signum erit, quando hæc omnia incipient consummari?
5 And Jesus answering them, began to say, “Take heed lest anyone may lead you astray,
Et respondens Iesus cœpit dicere illis: Videte ne quid vos seducat:
6 for many will come in My Name, saying, I am [He], and many they will lead astray;
multi enim venient in nomine meo dicentes, quia ego sum: et multos seducent.
7 and when you may hear of wars and reports of wars, do not be troubled, for these ought to be, but the end [is] not yet;
Cum audieritis autem bella, et opiniones bellorum, ne timueritis: oportet enim hæc fieri: sed nondum finis.
8 for nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles; these [are the] beginning of travails.
Exurget enim gens contra gentem, et regnum super regnum, et erunt terræmotus per loca, et fames. Initium dolorum hæc.
9 And take heed to yourselves, for they will deliver you up to Sanhedrins, and to synagogues, you will be beaten, and before governors and kings you will be set for My sake, for a testimony to them;
Videte autem vosmetipsos. Tradent enim vos in consiliis, et in synagogis vapulabitis, et ante præsides, et reges stabitis propter me, in testimonium illis.
10 and to all the nations it is first necessary that the good news be proclaimed.
Et in omnes gentes primum oportet prædicari Evangelium.
11 And when they may lead you, delivering up, do not be anxious beforehand what you may speak, nor premeditate, but whatever may be given to you in that hour, that speak, for it is not you who are speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
Et cum duxerint vos tradentes, nolite præcogitare quid loquamini: sed quod datum vobis fuerit in illa hora, id loquimini non enim vos estis loquentes, sed Spiritus sanctus.
12 And brother will deliver up brother to death, and father child, and children will rise up against parents, and will put them to death,
Tradet autem frater fratrem in mortem, et pater filium: et consurgent filii in parentes, et morte afficient eos.
13 and you will be hated by all because of My Name, but he who has endured to the end—he will be saved.
Et eritis odio omnibus propter nomen meum. Qui autem sustinuerit in finem, hic salvus erit.
14 And when you may see the abomination of the desolation, that was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it should not (whoever is reading let him understand), then those in Judea, let them flee to the mountains;
Cum autem videritis abominationem desolationis stantem, ubi non debet, qui legit, intelligat: tunc qui in Iudæa sunt, fugiant in montes:
15 and he on the housetop, do not let him come down into the house, nor come in to take anything out of his house;
et qui super tectum, ne descendat in domum, nec introeat ut tollat quid de domo sua:
16 and he who is in the field, do not let him turn to the things behind, to take up his garment.
et qui in agro erit, non revertatur retro tollere vestimentum suum.
17 And woe to those with child, and to those giving suck, in those days;
Væ autem prægnantibus, et nutrientibus in illis diebus.
18 and pray that your flight may not be in winter,
Orate vero ut hieme non fiant.
19 for those days will be tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created, until now, and may not be [again];
Erunt enim dies illi tribulationes tales, quales non fuerunt ab initio creaturæ, quam condidit Deus usque nunc, neque fient.
20 and if the LORD did not shorten the days, no flesh had been saved; but because of the chosen, whom He chose to Himself, He shortened the days.
Et nisi breviasset Dominus dies, non fuisset salva omnis caro: sed propter electos, quos elegit, breviavit dies.
21 And then, if any may say to you, Behold, here [is] the Christ, or, Behold, there, you may not believe;
Et tunc si quis vobis dixerit: Ecce hic est Christus, ecce illic, ne credideritis.
22 for there will rise false Christs and false prophets, and they will give signs and wonders, to seduce, if possible, also the chosen;
Exurgent enim pseudochristi, et pseudoprophetæ, et dabunt signa, et portenta ad seducendos, si fieri potest, etiam electos.
23 and you, take heed; behold, I have foretold you all things.
Vos ergo videte: ecce prædixi vobis omnia.
24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light,
Sed in illis diebus post tribulationem illam sol contenebrabitur, et luna non dabit splendorem suum:
25 and the stars of the sky will be falling, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.
et stellæ cæli erunt decidentes, et virtutes, quæ in cælis sunt, movebuntur.
26 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with much power and glory,
Et tunc videbunt filium hominis venientem in nubibus cum virtute multa, et gloria.
27 and then He will send His messengers, and gather together His chosen from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of heaven.
Et tunc mittet angelos suos, et congregabit electos suos a quattuor ventis, a summo terræ usque ad summum cæli.
28 And from the fig tree learn the allegory: when the branch may already become tender, and may put forth the leaves, you know that the summer is near;
A ficu autem discite parabolam. Cum iam ramus eius tener fuerit, et nata fuerint folia, cognoscitis quia in proximo sit æstas:
29 so you, also, when you may see these coming to pass, you know that it is near, at the doors.
sic et vos cum videritis hæc fieri, scitote quod in proximo sit in ostiis.
30 Truly I say to you that this generation may not pass away until all these things may come to pass;
Amen dico vobis, quoniam non transibit generatio hæc, donec omnia ista fiant.
31 the heaven and the earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
Cælum, et terra transibunt, verba autem mea non transibunt.
32 And concerning that day and the hour no one has known—not even the messengers who are in Heaven, not even the Son—except the Father.
De die autem illo, vel hora nemo scit, neque angeli in cælo, neque Filius, nisi Pater.
33 Take heed, watch and pray, for you have not known when the time is;
Videte, vigilate, et orate: nescitis enim quando tempus sit.
34 as a man who is gone abroad, having left his house, and given to his servants the authority, and to each one his work, also commanded the doorkeeper that he may watch;
Sicut homo, qui peregre profectus reliquit domum suam, et dedit servis suis potestatem cuiusque operis, et ianitori præcepit ut vigilet.
35 watch, therefore, for you have not known when the lord of the house comes, at evening, or at midnight, or at rooster-crowing, or at the morning;
Vigilate ergo, (nescitis enim quando dominus domus veniat: sero an media nocte, an galli cantu, an mane)
36 lest, having come suddenly, he may find you sleeping;
ne cum venerit repente, inveniat vos dormientes.
37 and what I say to you, I say to all, Watch!”
Quod autem vobis dico, omnibus dico: Vigilate.
