< Mark 13 >

1 And as He is going forth out of the temple, one of His disciples says to Him, “Teacher, see! What stones! And what buildings!”
As Jesus was walking out of the Temple courts, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher, what wonderful stones and buildings these are!"
2 And Jesus answering said to him, “See these great buildings? There may not be left a stone on a stone that may not be thrown down.”
"You see these mighty buildings? There shall not be left here one stone upon another which shall not be thrown down," he answered.
3 And as He is sitting at the Mount of Olives, opposite the temple, Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, were questioning Him by Himself,
When he had seated himself on the Mount of Olives, facing the Temple, Peter and Jamesand Johnand Andrew asked him privately,
4 “Tell us when these things will be? And what [is] the sign when all these may be about to be fulfilled?”
"Tell us when these things shall be, and what shall be the sign that all these predictions are about to be fulfilled."
5 And Jesus answering them, began to say, “Take heed lest anyone may lead you astray,
So Jesus began to tell them.
6 for many will come in My Name, saying, I am [He], and many they will lead astray;
"Be ye watchful lest any one mislead you. Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and will mislead many.
7 and when you may hear of wars and reports of wars, do not be troubled, for these ought to be, but the end [is] not yet;
But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars do not be dismayed, such things must come, but the end is not yet.
8 for nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles; these [are the] beginning of travails.
For nation shall rise in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines; these are the beginning of birth-pangs.
9 And take heed to yourselves, for they will deliver you up to Sanhedrins, and to synagogues, you will be beaten, and before governors and kings you will be set for My sake, for a testimony to them;
"You yourselves must be on your guard. They will hand you over to the courts, and you will be flogged on the synagogues; and you will stand before rulers and kings for my sake, to witness to them for me.
10 and to all the nations it is first necessary that the good news be proclaimed.
But the gospel must first be proclaimed to all the nations.
11 And when they may lead you, delivering up, do not be anxious beforehand what you may speak, nor premeditate, but whatever may be given to you in that hour, that speak, for it is not you who are speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
When, however, they are leading you all to trial, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but whatever is given you in that hour, that say, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
12 And brother will deliver up brother to death, and father child, and children will rise up against parents, and will put them to death,
"And brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child, and children will rise up against their parents, and have them put to death.
13 and you will be hated by all because of My Name, but he who has endured to the end—he will be saved.
You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake, but he that endures to the end shall be saved.
14 And when you may see the abomination of the desolation, that was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it should not (whoever is reading let him understand), then those in Judea, let them flee to the mountains;
"But when you see the Abomination of Desolation ‘standing where he ought not’ (let the reader ponder this), then let those in Judea flee to the mountains;
15 and he on the housetop, do not let him come down into the house, nor come in to take anything out of his house;
let him who is on the housetop not go down, nor go in to get anything out of his house;
16 and he who is in the field, do not let him turn to the things behind, to take up his garment.
and he who is in the field, let him not turn back to get his cloak.
17 And woe to those with child, and to those giving suck, in those days;
And alas for the pregnant women, and for those that are nursing their infants in those days!
18 and pray that your flight may not be in winter,
Pray that it may not come in the winter.
19 for those days will be tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created, until now, and may not be [again];
For those will be days of suffering the like of which has never been from the beginning of God’s creation until now, and never shall be.
20 and if the LORD did not shorten the days, no flesh had been saved; but because of the chosen, whom He chose to Himself, He shortened the days.
And had not the Lord cut short those days, not a single person would escape; but for the elect’s sake whom he has chosen, he has cut them short.
21 And then, if any may say to you, Behold, here [is] the Christ, or, Behold, there, you may not believe;
"At that time if any one tell you, ‘See, here is Christ,’ or ‘See, there he is,’ do not believe it;
22 for there will rise false Christs and false prophets, and they will give signs and wonders, to seduce, if possible, also the chosen;
for false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show signs and wonders, to lead astray the very chosen, if they can.
23 and you, take heed; behold, I have foretold you all things.
Be on your guard! I have told you it all beforehand.
24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light,
"But when the tribulation is past, in those days the sun will be darkened and the moon will not shed her light,
25 and the stars of the sky will be falling, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.
and the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.
26 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with much power and glory,
Then will they see the Son of man coming in clouds, with great power and glory.
27 and then He will send His messengers, and gather together His chosen from the four winds, from the end of the earth to the end of heaven.
Then he will send forth the angels and gather his chosen from the four winds, from uttermost earth to uttermost sky.
28 And from the fig tree learn the allegory: when the branch may already become tender, and may put forth the leaves, you know that the summer is near;
"From the fig tree learn now her parable; as soon as ever her branches are full of sap and bursting into leaf, you know that summer is near.
29 so you, also, when you may see these coming to pass, you know that it is near, at the doors.
So also do you, whenever you see these things happening, know that He is near, at your very door.
30 Truly I say to you that this generation may not pass away until all these things may come to pass;
I tell you truly that the present generation shall not pass until all these things begin to happen.
31 the heaven and the earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.
Earth and sky shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
32 And concerning that day and the hour no one has known—not even the messengers who are in Heaven, not even the Son—except the Father.
But concerning that day or that hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven,
33 Take heed, watch and pray, for you have not known when the time is;
nor the Son, but only the Father.
34 as a man who is gone abroad, having left his house, and given to his servants the authority, and to each one his work, also commanded the doorkeeper that he may watch;
Take heed! Awake! for you never know the time. As a man gone abroad and leaving his house gives authority to his slaves, to each his task;
35 watch, therefore, for you have not known when the lord of the house comes, at evening, or at midnight, or at rooster-crowing, or at the morning;
and orders the porter to keep watch; keep watch then, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming - in the evening, at midnight, at cockcrow, or in the morning -
36 lest, having come suddenly, he may find you sleeping;
lest he should come unexpectedly and find you sleeping;
37 and what I say to you, I say to all, Watch!”
and what I say to you, I say to all. Be awake and on guard."
