< Malachi 3 >
1 “Behold, I am sending My messenger, And he has prepared a way before Me, And suddenly the Lord whom you are seeking comes into His temple, Even the Messenger of the Covenant, Whom you are desiring, Behold, He is coming,” said YHWH of Hosts.
“Vakai te u fekau ʻa hoku fakamelomelo, pea te ne teuteu ʻae hala ʻi hoku ʻao: pea ko Sihova ʻaia ʻoku mou kumi ki ai, ʻe hāʻele fakafokifā mai ki hono fale tapu, ʻio, ʻae talafekau ʻoe fuakava, ʻaia ʻoku mou fiefia ai: vakai,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “ʻE haʻu ia.
2 “And who is bearing the day of His coming? And who is standing in His appearing? For He [is] as fire of a refiner, And as soap of a fuller.
Ka ko hai ia te ne faʻa tali ʻae ʻaho ʻo ʻene haʻu? Pea ko hai ʻe faʻa tuʻu ʻoka ne ka hā mai? He ʻoku ne hangē ko e afi ʻo ia ʻoku fakamaʻa ukamea, pea tatau mo e meʻa fakamaʻa ʻae kau fō papālangi.
3 And He has sat, a refiner and purifier of silver, And He has purified the sons of Levi, And has refined them as gold and as silver, And they have been bringing a present near to YHWH in righteousness.
4 And the present of Judah and Jerusalem has been sweet to YHWH, As in days of old, and as in former years.
Pea ʻe toki lelei ʻae feilaulau ʻa Siuta mo Selūsalema kia Sihova, ʻo tatau mo e ngaahi muʻaki ʻaho, pea hangē ko e ngaahi taʻu ʻi muʻa.
5 And I have drawn near to you for judgment, And I have been a witness, Making haste against sorcerers, and against adulterers, And against swearers to a falsehood, And against oppressors of the hire of a hired worker, Of a widow, and of a fatherless one, And those turning aside a sojourner, And who do not fear Me,” said YHWH of Hosts.
Pea te u ʻunuʻunu atu kiate kimoutolu ke fakamaau; pea te u fakamoʻoni toʻotoʻo ki he kau kikite kākā mo kinautolu ʻoku fuakava loi, pea kiate kinautolu ʻoku fakamālohi ʻae totongi ʻo ia ʻoku ngāue, ʻae fefine kuo mate ʻa hono husepāniti, pea mo e tamai mate, pea mo kinautolu ʻoku kākaaʻi ʻae muli, pea mo ia ʻoku ʻikai ke manavahē kiate au,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau.
6 “For I, YHWH, have not changed, And you, the sons of Jacob, You have not been consumed.
“He ko au ko Sihova ʻoku ʻikai teu liliu; ko ia ʻoku ʻikai ʻauha ai ʻakimoutolu ʻae ngaahi foha ʻo Sēkope.
7 Even from the days of your fathers You have turned aside from My statutes, And you have not taken heed. Return to Me, and I return to you,” said YHWH of Hosts. “And you have said, In what do we turn back?
ʻIo, talu mei he ngaahi ʻaho ʻo hoʻomou ngaahi tamai, kuo mou hehē mei heʻeku ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni, ʻo ʻikai fai ki ai. Tafoki mai kiate au, pea te u tafoki kiate kimoutolu,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau. “Ka naʻa mou pehē, ‘Te mau tafoki ko e hā?’
8 Does man deceive God? But you are deceiving Me, And you have said, In what have we deceived You? The tithe and the raised-offering!
ʻE kaihaʻa ʻae tangata mei he ʻOtua? Ka kuo mou kaihaʻa meiate au. Ka ʻoku mou pehē ʻekimoutolu, ‘Kuo mau kaihaʻa meiate koe ʻi he hā?’ ʻI hono vahe hongofulu ʻoe meʻa, pea mo e ngaahi feilaulau.
9 You are cursed with a curse! And you are deceiving Me—this nation—all of it.
ʻOku fakamalaʻia ʻaki ʻakimoutolu ʻae malaʻia: koeʻuhi kuo mou kaihaʻa meiate au, ʻio, ʻae puleʻanga ni kotoa.
10 Bring in all the tithe to the treasure-house, And there is food in My house; When you have tried Me, now, with this,” said YHWH of Hosts, “Do I not open the windows of the heavens to you? Indeed, I have emptied on you a blessing until there is no space.
Mou ʻomi ʻae ngaahi vahe hongofulu ʻoe meʻa ki he tukunga koloa, koeʻuhi ke ai ha meʻakai ʻi hoku fale, pea mou ʻahiʻahi ai au,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻoe ngaahi kautau, “Pe te u fakaava ʻae ngaahi matapā ʻoe langi pe ʻikai, pea u lilingi hifo kiate kimoutolu ha tāpuaki, ʻe ʻikai ha potu ʻe faʻa hao ia ki ai.
11 And I have pushed against the consumer for you, And He does not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor does the vine in the field miscarry to you,” said YHWH of Hosts.
Pea te u valokiʻi ʻae fai fakaʻauha koeʻuhi ko kimoutolu, pea ʻe ʻikai te ne maumau ʻae fua ʻo homou kelekele; pea ʻe ʻikai foki lī mai ʻe he vaine ʻa hono fua ki he ngoue ʻoku teʻeki ke motuʻa,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau.
12 “And all the nations have declared you blessed, For you are a delightful land,” said YHWH of Hosts.
“Pea ʻe ui ʻakimoutolu ko e monūʻia ʻe he puleʻanga kotoa pē: he te mou hoko ko e fonua matamatalelei,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau.
13 “Your words have been hard against Me,” said YHWH, “And you have said, What have we spoken against You?
“Kuo fielahi mai hoʻomou lea kiate au,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova. “Ka ʻoku mou pehē ʻekimoutolu, ‘Ko e hā ʻemau lea kuo fai kiate koe?’
14 You have said, A vain thing to serve God! And what gain when we kept His charge? And when we have gone in black, Because of YHWH of Hosts?
Kuo mou pehē, ‘Ko e meʻa taʻeʻaonga ʻae tauhi ki he ʻOtua:’ pea ‘ko e hā kuo tau maʻu ʻi he fai ki heʻene ngaahi fekau, mo e tau ʻalu fakaangavaivai ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau?
15 And now, we are declaring the proud blessed, Indeed, those doing wickedness have been built up, Indeed, they have tempted God, and escape.
Pea ʻoku tau ui eni ʻae fielahi ko e monūʻia: ʻio, ʻoku fakalanga hake ʻakinautolu ʻoku fai angahala: ʻio, naʻa mo ia ʻoku ʻahiʻahi kovi ki he ʻOtua, ʻoku hao pe ʻakinautolu.’
16 Then have those fearing YHWH spoken to one another, And YHWH attends and hears, And a scroll of memorial is written before Him Of those fearing YHWH, And of those esteeming His Name.
17 And they have been to Me,” said YHWH of Hosts, “In the day that I am appointing—a peculiar treasure, And I have had pity on them, As one has pity on his son who is serving him.
18 And you have turned back and considered, Between the righteous and the wicked, Between the servant of God and him who is not His servant.”
Pea te mou toki liliu mai, pea ʻilo hono fai kehekehe ʻae māʻoniʻoni mo e angahala, mo hono fai kehekehe, ʻaia ʻoku ngāue ki he ʻOtua, mo ia ʻoku ʻikai ke ngāue ki ai.
