Luke 7
1 And when He completed all His sayings in the ears of the people, He went into Capernaum;
Cuando terminó de hablarle a la gente, Jesús se fue hacia Capernaúm.
2 and a certain centurion’s servant being ill, was about to die, who was much valued by him,
Allí vivía un centurión que tenía un siervo a quien apreciaba mucho y estaba enfermo, a punto de morir.
3 and having heard about Jesus, he sent to Him elders of the Jews, imploring Him, that having come He might thoroughly save his servant.
Cuando el centurión oyó hablar de Jesús, envió a unos ancianos judíos donde Jesús estaba, pidiéndole que viniera a sanar a su siervo.
4 And they, having come near to Jesus, were calling on Him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to whom You will do this,
Cuando los ancianos llegaron donde estaba Jesús, le suplicaron de corazón, diciendo: “Por favor, ven y haz lo que él te pide. Él merece tu ayuda,
5 for he loves our nation, and he built to us the synagogue.”
porque ama a nuestro pueblo y construyó una sinagoga para nosotros”.
6 And Jesus was going on with them, and now when He is not far distant from the house the centurion sent to Him friends, saying to Him, “Lord, do not be troubled, for I am not worthy that You may enter under my roof;
Jesús fue con ellos, y cuando se aproximaba a la casa, el centurión envió a unos amigos donde Jesús para que le dijeran: “Señor, no te molestes en venir a mi casa, porque no soy digno de ello.
7 for this reason I did not consider myself worthy to come to You, but say in a word, and my boy will be healed;
Ni siquiera creo que yo sea digno de ir a verte. Solo da la orden, y mi siervo será sanado.
8 for I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers, and I say to this [one], Go, and he goes; and to another, Be coming, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does [it].”
Porque yo mismo estoy bajo autoridad de mis superiores, y tengo soldados bajo mi autoridad también. Yo ordeno a uno que vaya, y él va, a otro le ordeno que venga, y él viene. Yo ordeno a mi siervo que haga algo, y él lo hace”.
9 And having heard these things Jesus wondered at him, and having turned to the multitude following Him, He said, “I say to you, not even in Israel did I find so much faith”;
Cuando Jesús oyó esto, se quedó estupefacto. Se dio vuelta hacia la multitud que lo seguía y dijo: “Les digo que no he encontrado una fe como esta ni siquiera en Israel”.
10 and those sent, having turned back to the house, found the ailing servant in health.
Entonces los amigos del centurión regresaron a la casa y encontraron al siervo con buena salud.
11 And it came to pass, on the next day, He was going on to a city called Nain, and there were going with Him many of His disciples, and a great multitude,
Poco después de esto, Jesús fue a una ciudad llamada Naín, acompañado de sus discípulos y una gran multitud.
12 and as He came near to the gate of the city, then, behold, one dead was being carried forth, an only son of his mother, and she a widow, and a great multitude of the city was with her.
Cuando se acercaba a la puerta de la ciudad, venía en camino una procesión fúnebre. El hombre que había muerto era el único hijo de una viuda, y una enorme multitud de la ciudad la acompañaba.
13 And the LORD having seen her, was moved with compassion toward her and said to her, “Do not be weeping”;
Cuando el Señor la vio se llenó de compasión por ella. “No llores”, le dijo.
14 and having come near, He touched the bier, and those carrying [it] stood still, and He said, “Young man, to you I say, Arise”;
Jesús se dirigió hacia el ataúd, y los portadores del féretro se detuvieron. Jesús dijo: “Joven, a ti te digo, levántate”.
15 and the dead sat up, and began to speak, and He gave him to his mother;
El hombre que estaba muerto se incorporó y comenzó a hablar, y Jesús lo entregó de regreso a su madre.
16 and fear took hold of all, and they were glorifying God, saying, “A great prophet has risen among us,” and, “God looked on His people.”
Todos los que estaban allí quedaron impresionados y alababan a Dios, diciendo: “Se ha levantado entre nosotros un gran profeta”, y “Dios ha visitado a su pueblo”.
17 And the account of this went forth in all Judea about Him, and in all the region around.
Y la noticia acerca de Jesús se difundió por toda Judea y sus alrededores.
18 And the disciples of John told him about all these things,
Los discípulos de Juan le contaron todo esto a él.
19 and John having called near a certain two of his disciples, sent to Jesus, saying, “Are You He who is coming, or do we look for another?”
Entonces él llamó a dos de sus discípulos y les dijo que fueran a ver a Jesús, y le preguntaran: “¿Eres tú el que hemos estado esperando, o debemos esperar a otro?”
20 And having come near to Him, the men said, “John the Immerser sent us to You, saying, Are You He who is coming, or do we look for another?”
Y cuando ellos llegaron donde Jesús, le dijeron: “Juan el Bautista nos envió donde ti, para preguntarte: ‘¿Eres tú el que hemos estado esperando o deberíamos esperar a otro?’”
21 And in that hour He cured many from diseases, and plagues, and evil spirits, and He granted sight to many blind.
Justo en ese momento Jesús sanó a muchas personas de sus enfermedades, de espíritus malignos e hizo ver a muchos ciegos.
22 And Jesus answering said to them, “Having gone on, report to John what you saw and heard, that blind men see again, lame walk, lepers are cleansed, deaf hear, dead are raised, poor have good news proclaimed;
Entonces Jesús le respondió a los discípulos de Juan: “Vayan y díganle a Juan lo que han visto y oído. Los ciegos ven, los cojos caminan, los leprosos son curados, los sordos oyen, los muertos han vuelto a vivir, y los pobres tienen la buena noticia.
23 and blessed is he whoever may not be stumbled in Me.”
Cuán bueno es para los que no se ofenden por mi causa”.
24 And the messengers of John having gone away, He began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What have you gone forth into the wilderness to look on? A reed shaken by the wind?
Después que los mensajeros de Juan se fueron, Jesús comenzó a decir a la multitud: “Respecto a Juan: ¿Qué esperaban ver ustedes cuando salían a verlo en el desierto? ¿Una caña movida por el viento?
25 But what have you gone forth to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, they in splendid clothing, and living in luxury, are in the houses of kings!
¿Esperaban encontrar a un hombre vestido con ropas finas? No, los que usan ropas elegantes y viven con lujos se encuentran en los palacios.
26 But what have you gone forth to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet:
¿Buscaban a un profeta? Sí, él es un profeta, y les aseguro que él es más que un profeta.
27 this is he concerning whom it has been written: Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way before You;
“De él se escribió en la Escritura: ‘Mira, yo envío a mi mensajero para que vaya delante de ti y prepare tu camino’.
28 for I say to you, there is not a greater prophet, among those born of women, than John the Immerser; but the least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he.”
“¡Yo les digo a ustedes, ningún hombre nacido de mujer es más grande que Juan, pero incluso es menos importante en el reino de Dios es más grande que él!”
29 And all the people having heard, and the tax collectors, declared God righteous, having been immersed with the immersion of John,
Cuando oyeron esto, todos—incluyendo los cobradores de impuestos—siguieron lo que Dios dijo que era lo correcto, pues habían sido bautizados por Juan.
30 but the Pharisees and the lawyers put away the counsel of God for themselves, having not been immersed by him.
Pero los fariseos y los maestros religiosos rechazaban lo que Dios quería que hicieran, porque se habían negado a ser bautizados por Juan.
31 And the LORD said, “To what, then, will I liken the men of this generation? And to what are they like?
“¿Con qué compararé a este pueblo?” preguntó Jesús. “¿A qué son semejantes?
32 They are like to children, to those sitting in a marketplace, and calling to one another, and saying, We piped to you, and you did not dance, we mourned to you, and you did not weep!
Son como niños sentados en la plaza del mercado, diciéndose unos a otros: ‘Tocamos la flauta para ustedes y ustedes no bailaron; cantamos canciones pero ustedes no lloraron’.
33 For John the Immerser came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon;
Cuando Juan el Bautista vino, él no comía pan ni bebía vino, pero ustedes decían: está poseído por el demonio.
34 the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, Behold, a man, a glutton, and a wine drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners;
Ahora está aquí el Hijo del hombre, y él come y bebe con las personas, pero ustedes dicen: ‘Miren, pasa el tiempo comiendo mucha comida y bebiendo mucho vino. Además es amigo de los recaudadores de impuestos y de los pecadores’.
35 and the wisdom was justified from all her children.”
¡Sin embargo, los caminos sabios de Dios son demostrados por todos aquellos que lo siguen!”
36 And a certain one of the Pharisees was asking Him that He might eat with him, and having gone into the house of the Pharisee He reclined,
Uno de los fariseos invitó a Jesús a comer con él. Y Jesús fue a la casa del Fariseo y se sentó a comer.
37 and behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, having known that He reclines in the house of the Pharisee, having provided an alabaster box of ointment,
Pero una mujer, que era una pecadora en esa ciudad, supo que Jesús estaba comiendo en la casa del Fariseo. Se dirigió allí, llevando un frasco con perfume de alabastro.
38 and having stood behind, beside His feet, weeping, she began to wet His feet with the tears, and with the hairs of her head she was wiping, and was kissing His feet, and was anointing with the ointment.
Se arrodilló junto a Jesús y con sus lágrimas mojó sus pies, luego las secó con su cabello. Ella besó sus pies, y luego derramó el perfume sobre ellos.
39 And the Pharisee who called Him, having seen, spoke within himself, saying, “This One, if He were a prophet, would have known who and of what kind [is] the woman who touches Him, that she is a sinner.”
Cuando el Fariseo que había invitado a Jesús vio esto, pensó: “Si este hombre realmente fuera un profeta, sabría quién es esta mujer que lo está tocando, y qué clase de persona fue. ¡Sabría que ella es una pecadora!”
40 And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you”; and he says, “Teacher, say on.”
Jesús alzó la voz y dijo: “Simón, tengo algo que decirte”. “Dime, maestro”, respondió él.
41 “Two debtors were to a certain creditor; one was owing five hundred denarii, and the other fifty;
“En cierta ocasión, dos personas le debían a un prestamista. Una persona debía quinientos denarios, la otra persona debía solo cincuenta.
42 and they not having [with which] to give back, he forgave both; which of them then, do you say, will love him more?”
Ninguna de las dos personas podía devolverle el dinero, así que el prestamista les perdonó las deudas. ¿Cuál de las dos personas lo amará más?”
43 And Simon answering said, “I suppose that to whom he forgave the more”; and He said to him, “You judged correctly.”
“Aquella a la que le perdonó más, diría yo”, respondió Simón. “Estás completamente en lo correcto”, dijo Jesús.
44 And having turned to the woman, He said to Simon, “See this woman? I entered into your house; you did not give water for My feet, but this woman wet My feet with tears, and wiped with the hairs of her head;
Y dándose vuelta hacia la mujer, le dijo a Simón: “¿Ves a esta mujer? Cuando vine a tu casa, no me ofreciste agua para lavar mis pies. Pero ella ha lavado mis pies con sus lágrimas, y los ha secado con su cabello.
45 you did not give a kiss to Me, but this woman, from what [time] I came in, did not cease kissing My feet;
Tú no me diste un beso, pero desde que llegué ella no ha parado de besar mis pies.
46 you did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman anointed My feet with oil;
Tú no ungiste mi cabeza con aceite, pero ella derramó perfume sobre mis pies.
47 therefore I say to you, her many sins have been forgiven, because she loved much; but to whom is forgiven little, loves little.”
Así que yo te digo: sus muchos pecados han sido perdonados, por eso ella ama tanto. Pero al que se le perdona poco, solo ama un poco”.
48 And He said to her, “Your sins have been forgiven”;
Entonces Jesús le dijo a la mujer: “Tus pecados han sido perdonados”.
49 and those dining with Him began to say within themselves, “Who is this, who also forgives sins?”
Y los que estaban sentados comiendo allí comenzaron a hablar entre ellos, diciendo: “¿Quién es este que incluso perdona pecados?”
50 And He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you, be going on to peace.”
Pero Jesús le dijo a la mujer: “Tu fe te ha salvado, vete en paz”.
