< Luke 7 >
1 And when He completed all His sayings in the ears of the people, He went into Capernaum;
Nake Jesũ aarĩkia kwaria maũndũ macio mothe andũ makĩmũiguaga, agĩtoonya Kaperinaumu.
2 and a certain centurion’s servant being ill, was about to die, who was much valued by him,
No kũu nĩ kwarĩ na ndungata ya mũnene-wa-thigari-igana, ĩrĩa mũmĩathi eendete mũno, nayo yarĩ ndwaru hakuhĩ gũkua.
3 and having heard about Jesus, he sent to Him elders of the Jews, imploring Him, that having come He might thoroughly save his servant.
Nake mũnene ũcio wa thigari igana aigua ũhoro wa Jesũ, agĩtũma athuuri a Ayahudi kũrĩ we makamũũrie oke ahonie ndungata yake.
4 And they, having come near to Jesus, were calling on Him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to whom You will do this,
Nao maakinya kũrĩ Jesũ, makĩmũthaitha magwatĩirie mũno, makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Mũndũ ũyũ nĩagĩrĩirwo gwĩkwo ũguo nĩwe,
5 for he loves our nation, and he built to us the synagogue.”
tondũ nĩendete rũrĩrĩ rwitũ na nĩatwakĩire thunagogi.”
6 And Jesus was going on with them, and now when He is not far distant from the house the centurion sent to Him friends, saying to Him, “Lord, do not be troubled, for I am not worthy that You may enter under my roof;
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jesũ agĩthiĩ nao. Na marĩ hakuhĩ gũkinya mũciĩ, mũnene ũcio wa thigari igana akĩmũtũmĩra arata makamwĩre atĩrĩ, “Mwathani, tiga gwĩthĩĩnia tondũ ndiagĩrĩire wee ũũke gwakwa mũciĩ.
7 for this reason I did not consider myself worthy to come to You, but say in a word, and my boy will be healed;
O na nokĩo itanona njagĩrĩire gũũka kũrĩ we. No uga o kiugo, na ndungata yakwa nĩĩkũhona.
8 for I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers, and I say to this [one], Go, and he goes; and to another, Be coming, and he comes; and to my servant, Do this, and he does [it].”
Nĩgũkorwo niĩ mwene ndĩ mũndũ wathagwo, na ndĩ na thigari njathaga. Ndeera ũmwe ‘Thiĩ,’ nĩathiiaga, na ndeera ũngĩ atĩrĩ, ‘Ũka,’ nĩokaga. Na ningĩ ndeera ndungata yakwa atĩrĩ, ‘Ĩka ũna,’ nĩĩkaga.”
9 And having heard these things Jesus wondered at him, and having turned to the multitude following Him, He said, “I say to you, not even in Israel did I find so much faith”;
Rĩrĩa Jesũ aiguire ũguo, akĩgega, akĩhũgũkĩra kĩrĩndĩ kĩrĩa kĩamũrũmĩrĩire, agĩkĩĩra atĩrĩ, “Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, ndionete mũndũ ũrĩ na wĩtĩkio mũnene ũũ Isiraeli guothe!”
10 and those sent, having turned back to the house, found the ailing servant in health.
Nao andũ arĩa maatũmĩtwo magĩcooka mũciĩ magĩkora ngombo ĩyo ĩrĩ honu.
11 And it came to pass, on the next day, He was going on to a city called Nain, and there were going with Him many of His disciples, and a great multitude,
Ihinda inini rĩathira, Jesũ agĩthiĩ itũũra rĩetagwo Naini, nao arutwo ake na andũ gĩkundi kĩnene magĩthiĩ nake.
12 and as He came near to the gate of the city, then, behold, one dead was being carried forth, an only son of his mother, and she a widow, and a great multitude of the city was with her.
Nao andũ aingĩ a itũũra rĩu maarĩ hamwe nake.
13 And the LORD having seen her, was moved with compassion toward her and said to her, “Do not be weeping”;
Rĩrĩa Mwathani onire mũtumia ũcio, akĩmũiguĩra tha, akĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Tiga kũrĩra.”
14 and having come near, He touched the bier, and those carrying [it] stood still, and He said, “Young man, to you I say, Arise”;
Agĩcooka agĩthiĩ, akĩhutia ithandũkũ, nao arĩa maarĩkuuĩte makĩrũgama. Agĩcooka akiuga atĩrĩ, “Mwanake, ndakwĩra atĩrĩ, ũkĩra!”
15 and the dead sat up, and began to speak, and He gave him to his mother;
Mũndũ ũcio wakuĩte agĩũkĩra, akĩambĩrĩria kwaria, nake Jesũ akĩmũnengerana kũrĩ nyina.
16 and fear took hold of all, and they were glorifying God, saying, “A great prophet has risen among us,” and, “God looked on His people.”
Andũ othe makĩiyũrwo nĩ guoya na makĩgooca Ngai, makiuga atĩrĩ, “Mũnabii mũnene nĩokĩte gatagatĩ gaitũ. Ngai nĩokĩte gũteithia andũ ake.”
17 And the account of this went forth in all Judea about Him, and in all the region around.
18 And the disciples of John told him about all these things,
Nao arutwo a Johana nĩmamũheire ũhoro wa maũndũ macio mothe. Nake Johana agĩĩta arutwo ake eerĩ,
19 and John having called near a certain two of his disciples, sent to Jesus, saying, “Are You He who is coming, or do we look for another?”
akĩmatũma kũrĩ Mwathani makamũũrie atĩrĩ, “Wee nĩwe ũrĩa werĩtwo nĩagooka kana tweterere mũndũ ũngĩ?”
20 And having come near to Him, the men said, “John the Immerser sent us to You, saying, Are You He who is coming, or do we look for another?”
Nao arutwo acio maakinya kũrĩ Jesũ makĩmwĩra atĩrĩ, “Johana Mũbatithania aatũtũma kũrĩ we tũkũũrie atĩrĩ, ‘Wee nĩwe ũrĩa werĩtwo nĩagooka kana tweterere mũndũ ũngĩ?’”
21 And in that hour He cured many from diseases, and plagues, and evil spirits, and He granted sight to many blind.
Ihinda-inĩ o rĩu Jesũ akĩhonia andũ aingĩ arĩa maarĩ na mĩrimũ, na ndwari, na akĩingata ngoma thũku o na agĩtũma andũ aingĩ arĩa maarĩ atumumu macooke kuona.
22 And Jesus answering said to them, “Having gone on, report to John what you saw and heard, that blind men see again, lame walk, lepers are cleansed, deaf hear, dead are raised, poor have good news proclaimed;
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio agĩcookeria arĩa maatũmĩtwo atĩrĩ, “Cookai mũkeere Johana maũndũ marĩa muonete na mũkaigua: atĩ atumumu nĩ marona, na ithua nĩiretwara, na arĩa marĩ na mangũ nĩ marahonio, na andũ arĩa mataiguaga nĩmaraigua, na arĩa akuũ nĩmarariũkio, na Ũhoro-ũrĩa-Mwega nĩũrahunjĩrio arĩa athĩĩni.
23 and blessed is he whoever may not be stumbled in Me.”
Kũrathimwo nĩ mũndũ ũrĩa ũtarahĩngwo nĩ ũndũ wakwa.”
24 And the messengers of John having gone away, He began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What have you gone forth into the wilderness to look on? A reed shaken by the wind?
Andũ acio maatũmĩtwo nĩ Johana moima harĩ Jesũ, Jesũ akĩambĩrĩria kwarĩria andũ aingĩ ũhoro wa Johana, akĩmooria atĩrĩ, “Nĩ kĩĩ mwathiĩte kuona werũ-inĩ? Hihi mwathiĩte kuona kamũrangi kainainagio nĩ rũhuho?
25 But what have you gone forth to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Behold, they in splendid clothing, and living in luxury, are in the houses of kings!
26 But what have you gone forth to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and much more than a prophet:
Mwagĩthiĩte kuona kĩ? Hihi mwathiĩte kuona mũnabii? Ĩĩ, ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, muonire mũndũ ũkĩrĩte mũnabii.
27 this is he concerning whom it has been written: Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, who will prepare Your way before You;
Ũyũ nĩwe ũrĩa ũhoro wake wandĩkĩtwo atĩrĩ: “‘Nĩngatũma mũtũmwo wakwa athiĩ mbere yaku, nake nĩagagũthondekera njĩra.’
28 for I say to you, there is not a greater prophet, among those born of women, than John the Immerser; but the least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he.”
Ngũmwĩra atĩrĩ, harĩ andũ arĩa manaciarwo nĩ atumia-rĩ, gũtirĩ o na ũmwe mũnene gũkĩra Johana; no mũndũ ũrĩa mũnini mũno ũthamaki-inĩ wa Ngai, nĩ mũnene kũmũkĩra.”
29 And all the people having heard, and the tax collectors, declared God righteous, having been immersed with the immersion of John,
(Andũ othe, o na etia mbeeca cia igooti, rĩrĩa maiguire ciugo cia Jesũ, magĩtĩkĩra atĩ njĩra ya Ngai nĩ ya ma, tondũ maabatithĩtio nĩ Johana.
30 but the Pharisees and the lawyers put away the counsel of God for themselves, having not been immersed by him.
No Afarisai na arutani a watho makĩregana na ũrĩa Ngai endaga meke, tondũ o matiabatithĩtio nĩ Johana.)
31 And the LORD said, “To what, then, will I liken the men of this generation? And to what are they like?
Nake Jesũ akiuga atĩrĩ, “Andũ a rũciaro rũrũ ingĩmagerekania na kĩ? Matariĩ ta kĩ?
32 They are like to children, to those sitting in a marketplace, and calling to one another, and saying, We piped to you, and you did not dance, we mourned to you, and you did not weep!
Matariĩ ta ciana ciikarĩte ndũnyũ igĩĩta iria ingĩ, igaciĩra atĩrĩ: “‘Twamũhuhĩire mũtũrirũ, mũkĩaga kũina; twamũinĩire rwĩmbo rwa macakaya, no mũtiarĩrire.’
33 For John the Immerser came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon;
Nĩgũkorwo Johana Mũbatithania ookire atekũrĩa na atekũnyua ndibei, na inyuĩ mũkiuga atĩrĩ, ‘Arĩ na ndaimono.’
34 the Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, Behold, a man, a glutton, and a wine drinker, a friend of tax collectors and sinners;
35 and the wisdom was justified from all her children.”
No ũũgĩ nĩũmenyekaga nĩ wa kĩhooto nĩ ciana ciaguo ciothe.”
36 And a certain one of the Pharisees was asking Him that He might eat with him, and having gone into the house of the Pharisee He reclined,
Na rĩrĩ, Mũfarisai ũmwe nĩetire Jesũ gwake makarĩanĩre irio cia hwaĩ-inĩ nake, nĩ ũndũ ũcio Jesũ agĩthiĩ nyũmba ya Mũfarisai ũcio, agĩikara metha-inĩ.
37 and behold, a woman in the city, who was a sinner, having known that He reclines in the house of the Pharisee, having provided an alabaster box of ointment,
38 and having stood behind, beside His feet, weeping, she began to wet His feet with the tears, and with the hairs of her head she was wiping, and was kissing His feet, and was anointing with the ointment.
39 And the Pharisee who called Him, having seen, spoke within himself, saying, “This One, if He were a prophet, would have known who and of what kind [is] the woman who touches Him, that she is a sinner.”
Rĩrĩa Mũfarisai ũrĩa wamwĩtĩte onire ũndũ ũcio, akĩĩra na ngoro atĩrĩ, “Korwo mũndũ ũyũ nĩ mũnabii, nĩangĩamenya ũrĩa ũramũhutia nĩ mũndũ-wa-nja wa mũthemba ũrĩkũ, na atĩ nĩ mwĩhia.”
40 And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you”; and he says, “Teacher, say on.”
41 “Two debtors were to a certain creditor; one was owing five hundred denarii, and the other fifty;
“Kũrĩ andũ eerĩ maarĩ na thiirĩ wa mũndũ wakombithanagia mbeeca. Ũmwe aarĩ na thiirĩ wa dinari magana matano, na ũrĩa ũngĩ dinari mĩrongo ĩtano.
42 and they not having [with which] to give back, he forgave both; which of them then, do you say, will love him more?”
Na rĩrĩ, gũtirĩ o na ũmwe wao warĩ na mbeeca cia kũmũrĩha, nĩ ũndũ ũcio marĩ o eerĩ akĩmarekera thiirĩ ũcio. Rĩu-rĩ, acio eerĩ nũũ ũngĩmwenda makĩria?”
43 And Simon answering said, “I suppose that to whom he forgave the more”; and He said to him, “You judged correctly.”
Simoni akĩmũcookeria atĩrĩ, “Ngwĩciiria nĩ ũrĩa warekeirwo thiirĩ ũrĩa mũnene.” Jesũ akiuga atĩrĩ, “Nĩwatua wega.”
44 And having turned to the woman, He said to Simon, “See this woman? I entered into your house; you did not give water for My feet, but this woman wet My feet with tears, and wiped with the hairs of her head;
Agĩcooka akĩĩhũgũrĩra mũndũ-wa-nja ũcio, akĩĩra Simoni atĩrĩ, “Nĩũkuona mũndũ-wa-nja ũyũ? Njũkire nyũmba gwaku, no ndũnaahe maaĩ ma gwĩthamba nyarĩrĩ, no nĩanjihũgia nyarĩrĩ na maithori make, na acigiria na njuĩrĩ yake.
45 you did not give a kiss to Me, but this woman, from what [time] I came in, did not cease kissing My feet;
Wee-rĩ, ndũnaamumunya, no mũndũ-wa-nja ũyũ, kuuma rĩrĩa ndonyire ndarĩ aratigithĩria kũmumunya nyarĩrĩ ciakwa.
46 you did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman anointed My feet with oil;
Wee-rĩ, ndũnanjitĩrĩria maguta mũtwe, no ũyũ nĩanjitĩrĩirie maguta manungi wega nyarĩrĩ.
47 therefore I say to you, her many sins have been forgiven, because she loved much; but to whom is forgiven little, loves little.”
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio ngũkwĩra atĩrĩ, nĩarekeirwo mehia make maingĩ. Nĩgũkorwo nĩendanĩte mũno. No ũrĩa ũrekeirwo mehia manini, endanaga o hanini.”
48 And He said to her, “Your sins have been forgiven”;
Jesũ agĩcooka akĩĩra mũndũ-wa-nja ũcio atĩrĩ, “Nĩwarekerwo mehia maku.”
49 and those dining with Him began to say within themselves, “Who is this, who also forgives sins?”
Ageni arĩa angĩ makĩambĩrĩria kwĩrana atĩrĩ, “Kaĩ ũyũ akĩrĩ ũ, ũrarekanĩra o na mehia?”
50 And He said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you, be going on to peace.”
Jesũ akĩĩra mũndũ-wa-nja ũcio atĩrĩ, “Gwĩtĩkia gwaku nĩ gwakũhonokia; thiĩ na thayũ.”
