< Luke 23 >

1 And having risen, the whole multitude of them led Him to Pilate,
ⲁ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲧⲱⲛϥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲁⲩ⳿ⲉⲛϥ ϩⲁ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ.
2 and began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this One perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying Himself to be Christ, a king.”
ⲃ̅ⲩⲉⲣϩⲏⲧⲥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲉⲣⲕⲁⲧⲏⲅⲟⲣⲓⲛ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲁⲛϫⲉⲙϥ ⲉⲧⲫⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉϥⲧⲁϩⲛⲟ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲙϯ ϩⲱϯ ⲙ⳿ⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⳿ⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ.
3 And Pilate questioned Him, saying, “You are the King of the Jews?” And He answering him, said, “You say [it].”
ⲅ̅ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥϣⲉⲛϥ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱ ⲛⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲡⲉⲧϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ.
4 And Pilate said to the chief priests and the multitude, “I find no fault in this Man”;
ⲇ̅ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲙⲏϣ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲛϯϫⲉⲙ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛⲉⲧⲓ⳿ⲁ ⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ.
5 and they were the more urgent, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout the whole of Judea—having begun from Galilee—to this place.”
ⲉ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲁⲩϫⲉⲙϫⲟⲙ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⳿ϥ⳿ϣⲑⲟⲣⲧⲉⲣ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲉϥϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲓⲟⲩⲇⲉ⳿ⲁ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⳿ⲉⲁϥⲉⲣϩⲏⲧⲥ ⲥϫⲉⲛ ⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲉ⳿ⲁ ϣⲁ ⲡⲁⲓⲙⲁ.
6 And Pilate having heard of Galilee, questioned if the Man is a Galilean,
ⲋ̅ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⲛⲁϥϣⲓⲛⲓ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲟⲩⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲉⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ.
7 and having known that He is from the jurisdiction of Herod, he sent Him back to Herod, he also being in Jerusalem in those days.
ⲍ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ϫⲉ ⲩ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲉⲣϣⲓϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲟⲣⲡϥ ϩⲁ ⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲉϥⲭⲏ ϩⲱϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲓⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲙ̅ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ.
8 And Herod rejoiced exceedingly having seen Jesus, for he was wishing to see Him for a long [time], because of hearing many things about Him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by Him,
ⲏ̅ⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲁϥⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲒⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁϥⲣⲁϣⲓ ⳿ⲉⲙⲁϣⲱ ⲛⲁϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲓⲥϫⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲭⲣⲟⲛⲟⲥ ⲉⲑⲃⲉϫⲉ ⲛⲁϥⲥⲱⲧⲉⲙ ⲉⲑⲃⲏⲧϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲉⲣϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲙⲏⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲧϥ ⲉϥ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ.
9 and was questioning Him in many words, and He answered him nothing.
ⲑ̅ⲛⲁϥϣⲓⲛⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲗⲓ.
10 And the chief priests and the scribes stood vehemently accusing Him,
ⲓ̅ⲛⲁⲩⲟϩⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲥⲁϧ ⲉⲩⲉⲣⲕⲁⲧⲏⲅⲟⲣⲓⲛ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲙⲁϣⲱ.
11 and Herod with his soldiers having set Him at nothing, and having mocked, having cast radiant apparel around Him, sent Him back to Pilate,
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲧⲁϥϣⲟϣϥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲉϥⲙⲁⲧⲟⲓ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲥⲱⲃⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲁϥϫⲟⲗϩϥ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϩⲉⲃⲥⲱ ⲉⲥⲫⲉⲣⲓⲱⲟⲩ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲟⲣⲡϥ ⳿ⲉⲡⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ.
12 and both Pilate and Herod became friends with one another on that day, for they were previously at enmity between themselves.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲁⲩⲉⲣ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲛⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲩϣⲟⲡ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲡⲉ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧϫⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲉⲛⲟⲩⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ.
13 And Pilate having called together the chief priests, and the rulers, and the people,
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲁϥⲙⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲉⲛⲓⲁⲣⲭⲓⲉⲣⲉⲩⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲁⲣⲭⲱⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲟⲥ.
14 said to them, “You brought this Man to me as perverting the people, and behold, I having examined [Him] before you, found no fault in this Man in those things you bring forward against Him;
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲁⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲓⲛⲓ ⲛⲏⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉϥⲫⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲉⲧⲁⲓϣⲉⲛϥ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲁϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲙⲑⲟ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓϫⲉⲙ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛⲉⲧⲓ⳿ⲁ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲕⲁⲧⲏⲅⲟⲣⲓⲛ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧⲟⲩ.
15 no, neither Herod, for he sent Him back to us, and behold, nothing worthy of death is having been done by Him;
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⳿ⲡⲕⲉⲏⲣⲱⲇⲏⲥ ⲁϥⲟⲩⲟⲣⲡϥ ⲅⲁⲣ ϩⲁⲣⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛϩⲱⲃ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ⳿ⲉⲁϥⲁⲓϥ ⲉϥ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲙⲟⲩ.
16 having corrected, therefore, I will release Him,”
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅⳿ⲛⲧⲁϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁⲭⲁϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
17 [[for it was necessary for him to release to them one at every celebration, ]]
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲛⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛⲧⲟⲩ ⲕⲁϩⲥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲉⲑⲣⲉϥⲭⲱ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧⲥⲟⲛϩ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲧⲁ ⳿ⲡϣⲁⲓ.
18 and they cried out—the whole multitude—saying, “Away with this One, and release Barabbas to us,”
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲁ ⲡⲓⲙⲏϣ ⲇⲉ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ⲱϣ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⲁⲗⲓ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲭⲁ ⲃⲁⲣⲁⲃⲃⲁⲥ ⲛⲁⲛ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
19 who had been cast into prison, because of a certain sedition made in the city, and murder.
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁⲩϩⲓⲧϥ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲕⲟ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲟⲩ⳿ϣⲑⲟⲣⲧⲉⲣ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩϧⲱⲧⲉⲃ ⳿ⲉⲁϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲡⲟⲗⲓⲥ.
20 Pilate again then—wishing to release Jesus—called to them,
ⲕ̅ⲡⲁⲗⲓⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲁ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ⲙⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⲉϥⲟⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲉⲭⲁ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
21 but they were calling out, saying, “Crucify! Crucify Him!”
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁϣϥ ⲁϣϥ.
22 And he said to them a third time, “Why, what evil did He do? I found no cause of death in Him; having corrected Him, then, I will release [Him].”
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲙⲁϩⲅ̅ ⳿ⲛⲥⲟⲡ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲧⲁ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲁⲓϥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓϫⲉⲙ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛⲉⲧⲓ⳿ⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲫⲙⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁϯ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲁⲭⲁϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ.
23 And they were pressing with loud voices asking Him to be crucified, and their voices, and those of the chief priests, were prevailing,
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲩⲟⲩⲁϩⲧⲟⲧⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⲉⲩⲉⲣⲉⲧⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲉⲑⲣⲟⲩⲁϣϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁⲩϫⲉⲙϫⲟⲙ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ.
24 and Pilate gave judgment for their request being done,
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ϩⲁⲡ ⲉⲑⲣⲉϥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲉⲧⲏⲙⲁ.
25 and he released him who because of sedition and murder has been cast into the prison, whom they were asking for, and he gave up Jesus to their will.
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲁϥⲭⲱ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⳿ⲙⲫⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩϩⲓⲧϥ ⳿ⲉ⳿ⲡ⳿ϣⲧⲉⲕⲟ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲟⲩϧⲱⲧⲉⲃ ⲛⲉⲙ ⳿ϣⲑⲟⲣⲧⲉⲣ ⲫⲏ ⲧⲁⲩⲉⲣⲉⲧⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⲇⲉ ⲁϥⲧⲏⲓϥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲡⲟⲩⲟⲩⲱϣ.
26 And as they led Him away, having taken hold on Simon, a certain Cyrenian, coming from the field, they put the cross on him to carry [it] behind Jesus.
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϩⲱⲥ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩ⳿ⲁⲙⲟⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲁⲓ ϫⲉ ⲥⲓⲙⲱⲛ ⲟⲩⲕⲩⲣⲓⲛⲉⲟⲥ ϥⲛⲏ ⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲧⲕⲟⲓ ⲁⲩⲧⲁⲗⲉ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲥⲧⲁⲩⲣⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲉⲑⲣⲉϥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⲥⲁⲫⲁϩⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ.
27 And a great multitude of the people were following Him, and of women, who also were beating themselves and lamenting Him,
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ⲛⲁϥⲙⲟϣⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲙⲙⲏϣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛϩⲓ⳿ⲟⲙⲓ ⲛⲏ⳿ⲉⲛⲁⲩⲧⲱⲓⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁⲩⲛⲉϩⲡⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ.
28 and Jesus having turned to them, said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children;
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅⳿ⲉⲧⲁϥⲫⲟⲛϥ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓϣⲉⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲓⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲙ̅ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲣⲓⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲓ ⳿ⲡⲗⲏⲛ ⲣⲓⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ.
29 for behold, days come in which they will say, Blessed the barren, and wombs that did not bear, and breasts that did not give suck;
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅ϫⲉ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⲥⲉⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ϩⲁⲛ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲏ ⲧⲟⲩⲛⲁϫⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲱⲟⲩ⳿ⲛⲓⲁⲧⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲁⲧϭ ⲣⲏⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲛⲉϫⲓ ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩⲙⲓⲥⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲉⲙⲛⲟϯ ⲉⲧⲉ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩϣⲁⲛϣ.
30 then they will begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us, and to the hills, Cover us;
ⲗ̅ⲧⲟⲧⲉ ⲉⲛⲁⲉⲣϩⲏⲧⲥ ⳿ⲛϫⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲧⲱⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ϩⲉⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲕⲁⲗⲁⲙⲫⲟ ϫⲉ ϩⲟⲃⲥⲉⲛ.
31 for if they do these things in the green tree, what may happen in the dry?”
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ϫⲉ ⲓⲥϫⲉ ⲥⲉ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲗⲏ ⲕ ⲓⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲉⲑⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲧϣⲟⲩⲱⲟⲩ.
32 And there were also others—two evildoers—with Him, to be put to death;
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ⲛⲁⲩ⳿ⲓⲛⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲕⲉⲣⲉϥⲉⲣⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲃ̅ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ⳿ⲉϧⲟⲑⲃⲟⲩ.
33 and when they came to the place that is called “[Place] of [the] Skull,” there they crucified Him and the evildoers, one on the right hand and one on the left.
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲙⲁ ⲧⲟⲩⲙⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲓ⳿ⲕⲣⲁⲛⲓⲟⲛ ⲁⲩⲁϣϥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲕⲁⲕⲟⲩⲣⲅⲟⲥ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲙⲉⲛ ⲥⲁⲟⲩ⳿ⲓⲛⲁⲙ ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲥⲁϫⲁϭⲏ ⲁⲩⲫⲱϣ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉϥ⳿ϩⲃⲱⲥ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲁⲩ ⲁⲩϩⲓⲱⲡ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ.
34 And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they have not known what they do”; and parting His garments they cast a lot.
ⲗ̅ⲇ̅ⲓ̅ⲥ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ⲭⲱ ⲛⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲟⲩ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉⲛⲏ⳿ⲉⲧⲟⲩ⳿⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ.
35 And the people were standing, looking on, and the rulers were also sneering with them, saying, “He saved others, let Him save Himself, if this be the Christ, the Chosen One of God.”
ⲗ̅ⲉ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁϥⲟϩⲓ ⲉⲣⲁⲧϥ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲟⲥ ⲉϥⲛⲁⲩ ⲛⲁⲩⲉⲗⲕϣⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲕⲉⲁⲣⲭ ⲱⲛ ⲉⲩϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁϥⲛⲟϩⲉⲙ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲕⲉⲭ ⲱⲟⲩⲛⲓ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲛⲁϩⲙⲉϥ ⲱϥ ⲥϫⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⳿ⲡϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲡⲓⲥⲱⲧⲡ.
36 And the soldiers were also mocking Him, coming near and offering vinegar to Him,
ⲗ̅ⲋ̅ⲛⲁⲩⲥⲱⲃⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓⲕⲉⲙⲁⲧⲟⲓ ⲉⲩⲛⲏⲟⲩ ϩⲁⲣⲟϥ ⲁⲩ⳿ⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩϩⲉⲙϫ ⲛⲁϥ.
37 and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”

38 And there was also an inscription written over Him [[in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew]]: “THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
ⲗ̅ⲏ̅ⲛⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲕⲉⲉⲡⲓ⳿ⲅⲣⲁⲫⲏ ⲇⲉ ⲡⲉ ϩⲓϫⲱϥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲧϩⲉⲃⲣⲉⲟⲥ ⲙⲙⲉⲧⲣⲱⲙⲉⲟⲥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲧⲟⲩⲉⲓⲛⲓⲛ ϫⲉ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲡⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ.
39 And one of the evildoers who were hanged was slandering Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”
ⲗ̅ⲑ̅ⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲓⲕⲁⲕⲟⲩⲣⲅⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲁϣⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ⲉⲟⲩ⳿ⲁ ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲡⲉ ⲉϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲙⲏ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲁϩⲙⲉⲕ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁϩⲙⲉⲛ ϩⲱⲛ.
40 And the other answering, was rebuking him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, that you are in the same judgment?
ⲙ̅ⲁϥⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲕⲉⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⲁϥⲉⲣⲉⲡⲓⲧⲓⲙⲁⲛ ⲛⲁϥ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲇⲉ ⲫϯ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟⲕ ⳿ⲕⲉⲣϩⲟϯ ⲁⲛ ϧⲁⲧⲉϥϩⲏ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲭⲏ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲁⲓϩⲁⲡ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ.
41 And we indeed justly, for we are receiving back [things] worthy of what we did, but this One did nothing out of place”;
ⲙ̅ⲁ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲙⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ ⲉⲧⲁⲛϭⲓ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⳿ⲡⲉⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⳿ⲛⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲛⲁⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲉⲣ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲧϩⲱⲟⲩ.
42 and he said to Jesus, “Remember me, Lord, when You may come in Your kingdom”;
ⲙ̅ⲃ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲁϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ⲁⲣⲓⲡⲁⲙⲉⲩⲓ ϩⲟⲧⲁⲛ ⲕϣⲁⲛ⳿ⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲧⲉⲕⲙⲉⲧⲟⲩⲣⲟ.
43 and Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”
ⲙ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲙⲏⲛ ϯϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲕ ϫⲉ ⳿ⲙⲫⲟⲟⲩ ⲉⲕ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲛⲉⲙⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲡⲁⲣⲁⲇⲓⲥⲟⲥ.
44 And it was, as it were, the sixth hour, and darkness came over all the land until the ninth hour,
ⲙ̅ⲇ̅ⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲉ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁⲩ ϩⲏⲇⲏ ⳿ⲛⲁϫⲡ ⲋ̅ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁ ⲟⲩⲭⲁⲕⲓ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ϩⲓϫⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲕⲁϩⲓ ⲧⲏⲣϥ ϣⲁ ⳿ⲫⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲛⲁϫⲡ ⲑ̅.
45 and the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in the middle,
ⲙ̅ⲉ̅ⲉϥⲛⲁⲙⲟⲩⲛⲕ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲓⲣⲏ ⲓⲕⲁⲧⲁⲡⲉⲧⲁⲥⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲉⲣⲫⲉⲓ ⲫⲱϧ ϧⲉⲛ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲏϯ.
46 and having cried with a loud voice, Jesus said, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit”; now having said this, He breathed His last.
ⲙ̅ⲋ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥⲙⲟⲩϯ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲙⲏ ⲡⲉϫⲁϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲁⲓⲱⲧ ϯϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϧⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉⲛⲉⲕϫⲓϫ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁϥϫⲟϥ ⲁϥϯ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅.
47 And the centurion having seen what was done, glorified God, saying, “Truly this Man was righteous”;

48 and all the multitudes having come together to this sight, beholding the things that came to pass, turned back striking their breasts;
ⲙ̅ⲏ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲓⲙⲏϣ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲧⲁⲩ⳿ⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲧⲁⲓⲑⲉⲱⲣⲓ⳿ⲁ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲁⲩⲧⲁⲥⲑⲟ ⲉⲩⲕⲱⲗϩ ϧⲉⲛ ⲧⲟⲩⲙⲉⲥⲧⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ.
49 and all His acquaintances stood far off, and women who followed Him from Galilee, beholding these things.
ⲙ̅ⲑ̅ⲛⲁⲩⲟϩⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲟⲩ ϩⲓ⳿ⲫⲟⲩⲉⲓ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲉϥⲣⲉⲙ⳿ⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛⲕⲉϩⲓ⳿ⲟⲙⲓ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩⲙⲟϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⲓⲥϫⲉⲛ ϯⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲉ⳿ⲁ ⲉⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲛⲁⲓ.
50 And behold, a man, by name Joseph, being a counselor, a man good and righteous,
ⲛ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϩⲏⲡⲡⲉ ⲓⲥ ⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉⲡⲉϥⲣⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ⲓⲱⲥⲏⲫ ⲉⲟⲩⲃⲟⲩⲗⲉⲩⲧⲏⲥ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲉⲟⲩⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲅⲁⲑⲟⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲑⲙⲏⲓ.
51 from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who also himself was expecting the Kingdom of God, he was not consenting to their counsel and deed,
ⲛ̅ⲁ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲛⲁϥϯⲙⲁϯ ⲁⲛ ⲡⲉ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲟⲩⲥⲟϭ ⲛⲓ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲧⲟⲩ⳿ⲡⲣⲁⲝⲓⲥ ⲛⲉ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲉⲛ ⲁⲣⲓⲙⲁⲑⲉⲁⲥ ⲡⲉ ⲟⲩⲃⲁⲕⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲓⲟⲩⲇⲁⲓ ⲫⲏ ⲉⲛⲁϥϫⲟⲩϣⲧ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲁϫⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ.
52 he having gone near to Pilate, asked for the body of Jesus,
ⲛ̅ⲃ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲁϥ⳿ⲓ ϩⲁ ⲡⲓⲗⲁⲧⲟⲥ ϥⲉⲣⲉⲧⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅.
53 and having taken it down, he wrapped it in fine linen, and placed it in a hewn out tomb, where no one was yet laid.
ⲛ̅ⲅ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲧⲁϥ⳿ⲉⲛϥ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲁϥⲕⲟⲩⲗⲱⲗϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩϣⲉⲛⲧⲱ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲭⲁϥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲙϩⲁⲩ ⳿ⲉⲁϥϣⲟⲕϥ ⲙⲡⲁⲧⲟⲩⲭⲁ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥ⳿ⲥⲕⲉⲣⲕⲉⲣ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⳿ⲛⲱⲛⲓ ϩⲓⲣⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲣⲟ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓ⳿ⲙϩⲁⲩ.
54 And it was [the] Day of Preparation, and Sabbath was approaching,
ⲛ̅ⲇ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲉ ⲟⲩ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲁⲥⲕⲉⲩⲏ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲛⲉⲁ ϣⲱⲣⲡ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲡⲥⲁⲃⲃⲁⲧⲟⲛ.
55 and the women who also have come with Him out of Galilee having followed after, beheld the tomb, and how His body was placed,
ⲛ̅ⲉ̅ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲙⲟϣⲓ ⲇⲉ ⳿ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲛⲓϩⲓ⳿ⲟⲙⲓ ⲛⲏⲉⲧⲁⲩ⳿ⲓ ⲛⲉⲙⲁϥ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲅⲁⲗⲓⲗⲉ⳿ⲁ ⲁⲩⲛⲁⲩ ⲉⲡⲓⲉⲙϩⲁⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲡⲓⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲁⲩⲭⲁ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ.
56 and having turned back, they made ready spices and ointments, and on the Sabbath, indeed, they rested, according to the command.
