Luke 16
1 And He also said to His disciples, “A certain man was rich, who had a steward, and he was accused to him as scattering his goods;
彼は弟子たちにもこう言った。「ある富んだ人がいたが，彼には一人の管理人がいた。この者が主人の財産を浪費しているという告発が彼になされた。
2 and having called him, he said to him, What [is] this I hear about you? Render the account of your stewardship, for you may not be steward any longer.
彼は管理人を呼んで言った，『わたしがお前について聞いているこのことは，どういうことなのか。お前の管理の会計報告を出しなさい。もう管理はさせられない』。
3 And the steward said in himself, What will I do, because my lord takes away the stewardship from me? I am not able to dig, I am ashamed to beg—
「その管理人は自分の内で言った，『どうしようか。わたしの主人はわたしから管理職を取り上げるというのだ。土を掘るほどの力はない。物ごいをするのは恥ずかしい。
4 I have known what I will do, that, when I may be removed from the stewardship, they may receive me to their houses.
どうすればよいかわかったぞ。こうすれば，わたしが管理職から外された時，人々はわたしを自分たちの家に迎えてくれるだろう』。
5 And having called near each one of his lord’s debtors, he said to the first, How much do you owe to my lord?
自分の主人の借り主たちを一人ずつ呼び出して，最初の者に言った，『わたしの主人にどのくらいの借りがあるのか』。
6 And he said, One hundred baths of oil; and he said to him, Take your bill, and having sat down write fifty.
彼は言った，『油百バトスです』。管理人は彼に言った，『自分の証書を取りなさい。早く座って，五十と書きなさい』。
7 Afterward to another he said, And you, how much do you owe? And he said, One hundred cors of wheat; and he says to him, Take your bill, and write eighty.
それから別の者に言った，『どのくらいの借りがあるのか』。彼は言った，『小麦百コロスです』。管理人は彼に言った，『自分の証書を取って，八十と書きなさい』。
8 And the lord commended the unrighteous steward that he did prudently, because the sons of this age are more prudent than the sons of the light in respect to their generation. (aiōn g165)
「主人は，この不正な管理人が賢く行動したので，彼をほめた。というのは，この世の子らは，自分たちの世代の中では，光の子らよりも賢いからだ。 (aiōn g165)
9 And I say to you, make to yourselves friends out of the wealth of unrighteousness, that when you may fail, they may receive you into the continuous dwelling places. (aiōnios g166)
あなた方に告げる。不義の富で自分のために友人たちを作りなさい。そうすれば，それが尽きたとき，彼らはあなた方を永遠の天幕に迎え入れてくれるだろう。 (aiōnios g166)
10 He who is faithful in the least, [is] also faithful in much; and he who in the least [is] unrighteous, is also unrighteous in much;
ごく小さなことに忠実な者は，多くのことにも忠実だ。ごく小さなことに不正直な者は，多くのことにも不正直だ。
11 if, then, in the unrighteous wealth you did not become faithful—who will entrust to you the true?
だから，あなた方が不義の富に関して忠実でなかったなら，だれがあなた方に真実の富をゆだねるだろうか。
12 And if in the other’s you did not become faithful—who will give to you your own?
あなた方が他人のものに関して忠実でなかったなら，だれがあなた方にあなた方自身のものを与えるだろうか。
13 No servant is able to serve two lords, for either he will hate the one, and he will love the other; or one he will hold to, and of the other he will be heedless; you are not able to serve God and wealth.”
どんな召使いも二人の主人に仕えることはできない。一方を憎んで他方を愛するか，一方を重んじて他方をさげすむかのどちらかだからだ。あなた方は神と富の両方に仕えることはできない」 。
14 And also the Pharisees, being lovers of money, were hearing all these things, and were deriding Him,
お金を愛する者であるファリサイ人たちもこれらのすべてのことを聞いていたが，彼らは彼をあざ笑った。
15 and He said to them, “You are those declaring yourselves righteous before men, but God knows your hearts; because that which is high among men [is] abomination before God;
彼は彼らに言った，「あなた方は人々の面前で自分を義とする者たちだ。だが，神はあなた方の心を知っておられる。人々の間で高くされているものも，神のみ前では嫌悪すべきものだからだ。
16 the Law and the Prophets [are] until John; since then the good news of the Kingdom of God is proclaimed, and everyone presses into it;
律法と預言者たちとはヨハネに至るまでだった。その時から，神の王国の福音が宣教されており，すべての人がその中に無理にでも入ろうとしている。
17 and it is easier for the heaven and the earth to pass away, than one tittle to fall of the Law.
だが，律法からごく小さな一画が落ちるよりは，天と地の過ぎ行くほうが易しいだろう。
18 Everyone who is sending his wife away, and marrying another, commits adultery; and everyone who is marrying her sent away from a husband commits adultery.
自分の妻を離縁して別の女と結婚する者は，姦淫を犯すのだ。夫から離縁された女と結婚する者は，姦淫を犯すのだ。
19 And—a certain man was rich, and was clothed in purple and fine linen, making merry sumptuously every day,
「さて，ある富んだ人がいた。紫の衣と上等の亜麻布を身に着けて，毎日ぜいたくに暮らしていた。
20 and there was a certain poor man, by name Lazarus, who was laid at his porch, full of sores,
その門の前には，ラザロという名のこじきが，できものだらけの身で横たわっていて，
21 and desiring to be filled from the crumbs that are falling from the table of the rich man; indeed, also the dogs, coming, were licking his sores.
富んだ人の食卓から落ちるパンくずで腹を満たしたいと思っていた。そればかりか，犬たちまでやって来ては，彼のできものをなめていた。
22 And it came to pass, that the poor man died, and that he was carried away by the messengers into the bosom of Abraham—and the rich man also died, and was buried;
やがて，そのこじきは死んで，み使いたちによってアブラハムの懐に運び去られた。富んだ人も死んで，葬られた。
23 and having lifted up his eyes in Hades, being in torments, he sees Abraham far off, and Lazarus in his bosom, (Hadēs g86)
ハデスで苦しみながら目を上げると，はるか遠くにいるアブラハムと，その懐にいるラザロとが見えた。 (Hadēs g86)
24 and having cried, he said, Father Abraham, deal kindly with me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and may cool my tongue, because I am distressed in this flame.
彼は叫んで言った，『父アブラハムよ，わたしをあわれんでください。そしてラザロをお遣わしになり，その指先を水に浸して，わたしの舌を冷やすようにさせてください！ わたしはこの炎の中で苦しんでいるからです』。
25 And Abraham said, Child, remember that you received your good things in your life, and Lazarus in like manner the evil things, and now he is comforted, and you are distressed;
「だが，アブラハムは言った，『子よ，お前は一生の間に自分の良いものを受け，ラザロは同様に悪いものを受けたことを思い出しなさい。だが，今ここでは，彼は慰められ，お前は苦痛のうちにある。
26 and besides all these things, between us and you a great chasm is fixed, so that they who are willing to go over from here to you are not able, nor do they pass through from there to us.
それだけではなく，わたしたちとお前たちとの間には大きな裂け目が設けられていて，ここからお前のところに通って行こうと思う者たちもそれができず，そちらからわたしたちのところに渡って来られる者たちもいないのだ』。
27 And he said, I ask, then, father, that you may send him to the house of my father,
「彼は言った，『それではお願いです，父よ，わたしの父の家に彼を遣わしてください。
28 for I have five brothers, so that he may thoroughly testify to them, that they also may not come to this place of torment.
わたしには兄弟が五人いますので，彼らまでこの苦しみの場所に入ることのないように，彼らに対して証言をさせていただきたいのです』。
29 Abraham says to him, They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them;
「だが，アブラハムは彼に言った，『彼らにはモーセと預言者たちがいる。その者たちに聞き従えばよい』。
30 and he said, No, father Abraham, but if anyone from the dead may go to them, they will convert.
「彼は言った，『そうではないのです，父アブラハムよ，むしろ，だれかが死んだ者たちの中から行くなら，彼らは悔い改めるでしょう』。
31 And he said to him, If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one may rise out of the dead.”
「アブラハムは彼に言った，『彼らがモーセと預言者たちに聞き従わないのであれば，だれかが死んだ者たちのなかから生き返ったとしても，彼らが説得されることはないだろう』」 。
