Luke 12
1 At which time the myriads of the multitude having been gathered together, so as to tread on one another, He began to say to His disciples, first, “Take heed to yourselves of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy;
Entretanto, al reunirse una multitud de miles y miles, hasta pisotearse unos a otros, comenzó a decir primero a sus discípulos: Guárdense de la levadura de los fariseos, que es una hipocresía.
2 and there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hid that will not be known;
Nada hay encubierto que no sea descubierto, ni oculto que no sea conocido.
3 because whatever you said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you spoke to the ear in the inner-chambers will be proclaimed on the housetops.
Por tanto lo que dijeron ustedes en la oscuridad será oído en la luz, y lo que hablaron al oído en los aposentos más secretos será pregonado en las azoteas.
4 And I say to you, my friends, do not be afraid of those killing the body, and after these things are not having anything more to do;
Les digo, amigos míos: No teman a los que matan el cuerpo, y después no tienen como hacer algo peor.
5 but I will show to you whom you may fear: fear Him who, after the killing, is having authority to cast into Gehenna; yes, I say to you, fear Him. (Geenna g1067)
Les advertiré a quién deben temer: Teman a Aquél que mata y tiene poder para echar en el infierno. Sí, les digo: teman a Éste. (Geenna g1067)
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two assaria? And one of them is not forgotten before God,
¿No se venden cinco pajarillos por dos pequeñas monedas? Y ni uno de ellos está olvidado delante de Dios.
7 but even the hairs of your head have all been numbered; therefore do not fear, you are of more value than many sparrows.
Aun los cabellos de la cabeza de ustedes están contados. No teman, ustedes valen más que muchos pajarillos.
8 And I say to you, everyone who may confess in Me before men, the Son of Man will also confess in him before the messengers of God,
Les digo: Todo aquel que me confiese delante de los hombres, el Hijo del Hombre lo confesará delante de los ángeles de Dios,
9 and he who has denied Me before men, will be denied before the messengers of God,
pero el que me niegue delante de los hombres será negado delante de los ángeles de Dios.
10 and everyone who will say a word to the Son of Man, it will be forgiven to him, but the [one] having slandered to the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
A todo aquel que diga una palabra contra el Hijo del Hombre se le perdonará, pero el que blasfeme contra el Santo Espíritu no será perdonado.
11 And when they bring you before the synagogues, and the rulers, and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you may reply, or what you may say,
Cuando los arrastren a las congregaciones, a los magistrados y a las autoridades, no se preocupen de cómo defenderse o qué dirán,
12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that hour what [you] should say.”
porque el Santo Espíritu les enseñará en aquella hora lo que deben decir.
13 And a certain one out of the multitude said to Him, “Teacher, say to my brother to divide with me the inheritance.”
Le dijo uno de la multitud: Maestro, dí a mi hermano que comparta la herencia conmigo.
14 And He said to him, “Man, who set Me a judge or a divider over you?”
Él le respondió: Hombre, ¿quién me nombró juez o partidor entre ustedes?
15 And He said to them, “Observe, and beware of the covetousness, because his life is not in the abundance of one’s goods.”
Y les dijo: Tengan cuidado y guárdense de toda avaricia, porque aunque alguno tenga más que suficiente, su vida no depende de las cosas que posee.
16 And He spoke an allegory to them, saying, “Of a certain rich man the field brought forth well;
Les narró una parábola: La tierra de un hombre rico produjo mucho fruto.
17 and he was reasoning within himself, saying, What will I do, because I have nowhere I will gather together my fruits?
Él razonaba: ¿Qué haré? Porque no tengo donde recoger mis frutos.
18 And he said, This I will do, I will take down my storehouses, and I will build greater ones, and I will gather together there all my products and my good things,
Esto haré: derribaré mis graneros, [los] edificaré más grandes y allí guardaré mis granos y mis bienes.
19 and I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many good things laid up for many years, be resting, eat, drink, be merry.
Y diré a mi alma: Alma, tienes muchos bienes almacenados para muchos años. Repósate, come, bebe y regocíjate.
20 And God said to him, Unthinking [one]! This night your life is required of you, and what things you prepared—to whom will they be [given]?
Pero Dios le dijo: ¡Insensato! Esta noche piden tu alma, y lo que guardaste, ¿para quién será?
21 So [is] he who is treasuring up to himself, and is not rich toward God.”
Así es el que atesora para él y no es rico para Dios.
22 And He said to His disciples, “Because of this, to you I say, do not be anxious for your life, what you may eat; nor for the body, what you may put on;
Y dijo a los discípulos: Por esto les digo: No se preocupen por la vida ni por el cuerpo: qué comerán y qué vestirán.
23 life is more than nourishment, and the body than clothing.
Porque la vida es [más] que la comida, y el cuerpo más que la ropa.
24 Consider the ravens, that they do not sow, nor reap, to which there is no barn nor storehouse, and God nourishes them; how much better are you than the birds?
Consideren los cuervos, que no siembran ni cosechan, ni tienen despensa ni granero, y Dios los alimenta. ¡Cuánto más valen ustedes que las aves!
25 And who of you, being anxious, is able to add to his age one cubit?
¿Quién de ustedes puede por la preocupación añadir unos centímetros al trayecto de su vida?
26 If, then, you are not able for the least—why are you anxious for the rest?
Entonces si no pueden hacer lo mínimo, ¿por qué se preocupan por lo demás?
27 Consider the lilies, how do they grow? They do not labor, nor do they spin, and I say to you, not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these;
Consideren cómo crecen los lirios. No trabajan ni hilan. Ni Salomón con todo su esplendor se vistió como uno de éstos.
28 and if the herbage in the field, that today is, and tomorrow is cast into an oven, God so clothes, how much more you of little faith?
Si Dios viste así la hierba que hoy está en [el] campo y mañana se echa al horno, ¡cuánto más a ustedes, [los] de poca fe!
29 And you—do not seek what you may eat, or what you may drink, and do not be in suspense,
Ustedes, pues, no busquen qué comer o qué beber, ni estén ansiosos,
30 for the nations of the world seek after all these things, and your Father has known that you have need of these things;
porque la gente del mundo busca todas estas cosas, pero el Padre de ustedes sabe que las necesitan.
31 but seek the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you.
Más bien busquen el reino de Él, y todas estas cosas se les añadirán.
32 Do not fear, little flock, because your Father delighted to give you the kingdom;
No temas, rebaño pequeño, porque tu Padre resolvió darles el reino.
33 sell your goods, and give alms, make to yourselves bags that do not become old, a treasure unfailing in the heavens, where thief does not come near, nor moth destroy;
Vendan sus posesiones y den limosna. Háganse carteras que no envejecen, tesoro inagotable en los cielos, donde ladrón no se acerca ni polilla destruye,
34 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
porque donde está tu tesoro, allí también está tu corazón.
35 Let your loins be girded, and the lamps burning,
Estén atadas sus cinturas y encendidas sus lámparas.
36 and you [be] like to men waiting for their lord when he will return out of the wedding feasts, that he having come and knocked, immediately they may open to him.
Sean semejantes a hombres que esperan cuando su señor regrese de las bodas, para que le abran de inmediato cuando llegue y llame a la puerta.
37 Blessed those servants, whom the lord, having come, will find watching; truly I say to you that he will gird himself, and will cause them to recline, and having come near, will minister to them;
Inmensamente felices aquellos esclavos quienes velen cuando venga el señor. En verdad les digo que se alistará, dirá que se reclinen y les servirá.
38 and if he may come in the second watch, and in the third watch he may come, and may find [it] so, blessed are those servants.
Si viene en la segunda vigilia o en la tercera, si encuentra aquellos esclavos despiertos, serán inmensamente felices.
39 And know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief comes, he would have watched, and would not have permitted his house to be broken through;
Pero sepan que si el amo de la casa supiera a qué hora viene el ladrón, no dejaría que se le invadiera.
40 and you, then, become ready, because at the hour you do not think, the Son of Man comes.”
También ustedes estén preparados, porque el Hijo del Hombre viene a una hora inesperada.
41 And Peter said to Him, “Lord, do You speak this allegory to us, or also to all?”
Entonces Pedro preguntó: Señor, ¿dices esta parábola para nosotros o para todos?
42 And the LORD said, “Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the lord will set over his household, to give in season the wheat measure?
El Señor respondió: ¿Quién es el mayordomo fiel y prudente, al cual el señor coloca sobre su casa para darles su ración a tiempo?
43 Blessed that servant, whom his lord, having come, will find doing so;
Inmensamente feliz aquel esclavo quien esté ocupado en su labor cuando venga su señor.
44 truly I say to you that he will set him over all his goods.
En verdad les digo que lo designará mayordomo de todos sus bienes.
45 And if that servant may say in his heart, My lord delays to come, and may begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, to eat also, and to drink, and to be drunken,
Pero si aquel esclavo razona: Mi señor demora en venir, y comienza a golpear a los demás esclavos, a comer, beber y embriagarse,
46 the lord of that servant will come in a day in which he does not look for [him], and in an hour that he does not know, and will cut him off, and he will appoint his portion with the unfaithful.
vendrá el señor de aquel esclavo un día y a una hora cuando no lo espera. Lo castigará con severidad y lo pondrá con los infieles.
47 And that servant, who having known his lord’s will, and having not prepared, nor having gone according to his will, will be beaten with many stripes,
Aquel esclavo que conoció la voluntad de su señor, y no se preparó ni hizo conforme a la voluntad de éste, será azotado mucho.
48 and he who, not having known, and having done things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few; and to everyone to whom much was given, much will be required from him; and to whom they committed much, more abundantly they will ask of him.
Pero el que no [la] conoció, aunque hizo cosas dignas de azotes, será azotado poco. Porque a todo aquel a quien fue dado mucho, mucho se le demandará. Al que encomendaron mucho, mucho más le pedirán.
49 I came to cast fire to the earth, and what I wish [is] if it were already kindled!
Vine a echar fuego sobre la tierra. ¿Qué más quiero, si ya fue encendido?
50 But I have an immersion to be immersed with, and how I am pressed until it may be accomplished!
De un bautismo tengo que ser bautizado, ¡y cómo me angustio hasta que se cumpla!
51 Do you think that I came to give peace in the earth? No, I say to you, but rather division;
¿Piensan ustedes que vine a establecer paz en la tierra? No, sino más bien disensión.
52 for there will be from now on five in one house divided—three against two, and two against three;
Porque desde ahora, cinco en una casa estarán divididos: tres en contra de los otros dos.
53 a father will be divided against a son, and a son against a father, a mother against a daughter, and a daughter against a mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
Se dividirán padre contra hijo e hijo contra padre, madre contra hija e hija contra madre, suegra contra nuera y nuera contra suegra.
54 And He also said to the multitudes, “When you may see the cloud rising from the west, immediately you say, A shower comes, and it is so;
Decía también a la multitud: Cuando [ustedes] ven una nube que sale del occidente, de inmediato dicen: Viene un aguacero, y así sucede.
55 and when a south wind is blowing, you say that there will be heat, and it is;
Y cuando sopla un viento del sur dicen: Habrá un día caliente, y sucede.
56 hypocrites! You have known to discern the face of the earth and of the sky, but how do you not discern this time?
¡Hipócritas! Saben analizar el aspecto de la tierra y del cielo, ¿y cómo no analizaron este tiempo?
57 And why, also, of yourselves, do you not judge what is righteous?
¿Por qué no juzgan ustedes lo justo?
58 For as you are going away with your opponent to the ruler, in the way give diligence to be released from him, lest he may drag you to the judge, and the judge may deliver you to the officer, and the officer may cast you into prison;
Cuando vas con tu adversario ante un magistrado, esfuérzate para reconciliarte con él en el camino, no sea que te arrastre ante el juez, y éste te entregue al alguacil y él te meta en una cárcel.
59 I say to you, you may not come forth from there until even the last mite you may give back.”
Te digo que no saldrás de allí hasta que pagues el último centavo.
