Luke 12
1 At which time the myriads of the multitude having been gathered together, so as to tread on one another, He began to say to His disciples, first, “Take heed to yourselves of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy;
Pendant ce temps, comme une foule de plusieurs milliers de personnes s'était rassemblée, au point de se piétiner les unes les autres, il se mit à dire à ses disciples, tout d'abord: « Gardez-vous du levain des pharisiens, qui est l'hypocrisie.
2 and there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hid that will not be known;
Mais il n'y a rien de caché qui ne soit révélé, ni de dissimulé qui ne soit connu.
3 because whatever you said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you spoke to the ear in the inner-chambers will be proclaimed on the housetops.
C'est pourquoi tout ce que vous avez dit dans les ténèbres sera entendu dans la lumière. Ce que vous avez dit à l'oreille dans les chambres intérieures sera proclamé sur les toits.
4 And I say to you, my friends, do not be afraid of those killing the body, and after these things are not having anything more to do;
« Je vous le dis, mes amis, ne craignez pas ceux qui tuent le corps et qui, après cela, n'ont plus rien à faire.
5 but I will show to you whom you may fear: fear Him who, after the killing, is having authority to cast into Gehenna; yes, I say to you, fear Him. (Geenna g1067)
Mais je vais vous avertir de qui vous devez avoir peur. Craignez celui qui, après avoir tué, a le pouvoir de jeter dans la géhenne. Oui, je vous le dis, craignez-le. (Geenna g1067)
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two assaria? And one of them is not forgotten before God,
« Cinq moineaux ne sont-ils pas vendus pour deux pièces d'assaria? Aucun d'eux n'est oublié par Dieu.
7 but even the hairs of your head have all been numbered; therefore do not fear, you are of more value than many sparrows.
Mais tous les cheveux de votre tête sont comptés. N'ayez donc pas peur. Vous avez plus de valeur que beaucoup de moineaux.
8 And I say to you, everyone who may confess in Me before men, the Son of Man will also confess in him before the messengers of God,
« Je vous le dis, quiconque me confesse devant les hommes, le Fils de l'homme le confessera aussi devant les anges de Dieu;
9 and he who has denied Me before men, will be denied before the messengers of God,
mais celui qui me renie devant les hommes sera renié devant les anges de Dieu.
10 and everyone who will say a word to the Son of Man, it will be forgiven to him, but the [one] having slandered to the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
Quiconque dira une parole contre le Fils de l'homme sera pardonné, mais ceux qui blasphèmeront contre le Saint-Esprit ne seront pas pardonnés.
11 And when they bring you before the synagogues, and the rulers, and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you may reply, or what you may say,
Quand on vous amènera devant les synagogues, les magistrats et les autorités, ne vous inquiétez pas de ce que vous répondrez ou de ce que vous direz;
12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that hour what [you] should say.”
car l'Esprit Saint vous enseignera à l'heure même ce que vous devez dire. »
13 And a certain one out of the multitude said to Him, “Teacher, say to my brother to divide with me the inheritance.”
Un homme de la foule lui dit: « Maître, dis à mon frère de partager avec moi l'héritage. »
14 And He said to him, “Man, who set Me a judge or a divider over you?”
Mais il lui dit: « Homme, qui m'a établi juge ou arbitre sur vous? »
15 And He said to them, “Observe, and beware of the covetousness, because his life is not in the abundance of one’s goods.”
Il leur dit: « Prenez garde! Gardez-vous de la convoitise, car la vie d'un homme ne consiste pas dans l'abondance des choses qu'il possède. »
16 And He spoke an allegory to them, saying, “Of a certain rich man the field brought forth well;
Il leur adressa une parabole, en disant: « La terre d'un homme riche produisait en abondance.
17 and he was reasoning within himself, saying, What will I do, because I have nowhere I will gather together my fruits?
Il raisonnait en lui-même, disant: « Que vais-je faire, car je n'ai pas de place pour stocker mes récoltes? »
18 And he said, This I will do, I will take down my storehouses, and I will build greater ones, and I will gather together there all my products and my good things,
Il répondit: « Voici ce que je vais faire. Je démolirai mes granges, j'en construirai de plus grandes, et j'y entreposerai tout mon grain et mes biens.
19 and I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many good things laid up for many years, be resting, eat, drink, be merry.
Je dirai à mon âme: « Âme, tu as beaucoup de biens accumulés depuis de nombreuses années. Prends ton aise, mange, bois, et sois joyeux. »'
20 And God said to him, Unthinking [one]! This night your life is required of you, and what things you prepared—to whom will they be [given]?
Mais Dieu lui dit: « Insensé, ce soir, on te demande ton âme. Les choses que tu as préparées, à qui appartiendront-elles?
21 So [is] he who is treasuring up to himself, and is not rich toward God.”
Il en est de même de celui qui amasse un trésor pour lui-même, et qui n'est pas riche envers Dieu. »
22 And He said to His disciples, “Because of this, to you I say, do not be anxious for your life, what you may eat; nor for the body, what you may put on;
Il dit à ses disciples: « C'est pourquoi je vous dis: ne vous inquiétez pas pour votre vie, de ce que vous mangerez, ni pour votre corps, de ce que vous porterez.
23 life is more than nourishment, and the body than clothing.
La vie est plus que la nourriture, et le corps plus que le vêtement.
24 Consider the ravens, that they do not sow, nor reap, to which there is no barn nor storehouse, and God nourishes them; how much better are you than the birds?
Considérez les corbeaux: ils ne sèment pas, ils ne moissonnent pas, ils n'ont ni grenier ni étable, et Dieu les nourrit. Combien vous êtes plus précieux que les oiseaux!
25 And who of you, being anxious, is able to add to his age one cubit?
Lequel d'entre vous, en s'inquiétant, peut ajouter une coudée à sa taille?
26 If, then, you are not able for the least—why are you anxious for the rest?
Si donc vous n'êtes pas capables de faire les moindres choses, pourquoi vous inquiétez-vous du reste?
27 Consider the lilies, how do they grow? They do not labor, nor do they spin, and I say to you, not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these;
Considérez les lys, comment ils croissent. Je vous le dis, Salomon lui-même, dans toute sa gloire, n'était pas vêtu comme l'un d'eux.
28 and if the herbage in the field, that today is, and tomorrow is cast into an oven, God so clothes, how much more you of little faith?
Mais si c'est ainsi que Dieu habille l'herbe des champs, qui existe aujourd'hui et qui demain sera jetée au four, à combien plus forte raison vous habillera-t-il, vous, les gens de peu de foi?
29 And you—do not seek what you may eat, or what you may drink, and do not be in suspense,
« Ne cherchez pas ce que vous mangerez ni ce que vous boirez, et ne vous inquiétez pas.
30 for the nations of the world seek after all these things, and your Father has known that you have need of these things;
Car les nations du monde recherchent toutes ces choses, mais votre Père sait que vous en avez besoin.
31 but seek the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you.
Cherchez le royaume de Dieu, et toutes ces choses vous seront données en plus.
32 Do not fear, little flock, because your Father delighted to give you the kingdom;
« Ne crains pas, petit troupeau, car le bon plaisir de ton Père est de te donner le Royaume.
33 sell your goods, and give alms, make to yourselves bags that do not become old, a treasure unfailing in the heavens, where thief does not come near, nor moth destroy;
Vendez ce que vous avez et faites des dons aux indigents. Faites-vous des bourses qui ne vieillissent pas, un trésor inaltérable dans les cieux, où aucun voleur ne s'approche et où aucune mite ne détruit.
34 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Car là où est ton trésor, là aussi sera ton cœur.
35 Let your loins be girded, and the lamps burning,
« Que votre taille soit habillée et vos lampes allumées.
36 and you [be] like to men waiting for their lord when he will return out of the wedding feasts, that he having come and knocked, immediately they may open to him.
Soyez comme des hommes qui guettent leur maître au retour des noces, afin que, lorsqu'il viendra frapper, ils lui ouvrent aussitôt.
37 Blessed those servants, whom the lord, having come, will find watching; truly I say to you that he will gird himself, and will cause them to recline, and having come near, will minister to them;
Heureux ces serviteurs que le maître trouvera veillant quand il viendra. Je vous le dis avec certitude, il s'habillera lui-même, les fera s'allonger et viendra les servir.
38 and if he may come in the second watch, and in the third watch he may come, and may find [it] so, blessed are those servants.
Ils seront bénis s'il vient à la deuxième ou à la troisième veille et les trouve ainsi.
39 And know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief comes, he would have watched, and would not have permitted his house to be broken through;
Mais sachez que si le maître de maison avait su à quelle heure le voleur allait venir, il aurait veillé et n'aurait pas permis qu'on entre dans sa maison.
40 and you, then, become ready, because at the hour you do not think, the Son of Man comes.”
C'est pourquoi, vous aussi, tenez-vous prêts, car le Fils de l'homme vient à l'heure où vous ne l'attendez pas. »
41 And Peter said to Him, “Lord, do You speak this allegory to us, or also to all?”
Pierre lui dit: « Seigneur, est-ce que tu racontes cette parabole à nous, ou à tout le monde? ».
42 And the LORD said, “Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward whom the lord will set over his household, to give in season the wheat measure?
Le Seigneur dit: « Quel est donc l'intendant fidèle et avisé que son maître établira sur sa maison, pour lui donner sa part de nourriture aux moments opportuns?
43 Blessed that servant, whom his lord, having come, will find doing so;
Heureux ce serviteur que son maître trouvera en train de faire cela quand il viendra.
44 truly I say to you that he will set him over all his goods.
Je vous le dis en vérité, il l'établira sur tout ce qu'il possède.
45 And if that servant may say in his heart, My lord delays to come, and may begin to beat the menservants and the maidservants, to eat also, and to drink, and to be drunken,
Mais si ce serviteur dit en son cœur: « Mon maître tarde à venir », et qu'il se mette à battre les serviteurs et les servantes, à manger, à boire et à s'enivrer,
46 the lord of that servant will come in a day in which he does not look for [him], and in an hour that he does not know, and will cut him off, and he will appoint his portion with the unfaithful.
le maître de ce serviteur viendra le jour où il ne l'attend pas et à l'heure qu'il ne connaît pas, il le coupera en deux et mettra sa part avec les infidèles.
47 And that servant, who having known his lord’s will, and having not prepared, nor having gone according to his will, will be beaten with many stripes,
Le serviteur qui connaissait la volonté de son maître et qui ne s'est pas préparé et n'a pas fait ce qu'il voulait, sera battu de plusieurs coups;
48 and he who, not having known, and having done things worthy of stripes, will be beaten with few; and to everyone to whom much was given, much will be required from him; and to whom they committed much, more abundantly they will ask of him.
mais celui qui ne connaissait pas et qui a fait des choses dignes de coups, sera battu de peu de coups. A celui à qui on a beaucoup donné, on demandera beaucoup; et à celui à qui on a beaucoup confié, on demandera davantage.
49 I came to cast fire to the earth, and what I wish [is] if it were already kindled!
« Je suis venu jeter du feu sur la terre. Je voudrais qu'il soit déjà allumé.
50 But I have an immersion to be immersed with, and how I am pressed until it may be accomplished!
Mais j'ai un baptême à recevoir, et combien je suis affligé jusqu'à ce qu'il soit accompli!
51 Do you think that I came to give peace in the earth? No, I say to you, but rather division;
Pensez-vous que je sois venu pour donner la paix sur la terre? Je vous le dis, non, mais plutôt la division.
52 for there will be from now on five in one house divided—three against two, and two against three;
Car désormais, dans une même maison, il y aura cinq personnes divisées, trois contre deux, et deux contre trois.
53 a father will be divided against a son, and a son against a father, a mother against a daughter, and a daughter against a mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”
Ils seront divisés, père contre fils, et fils contre père; mère contre fille, et fille contre sa mère; belle-mère contre sa belle-fille, et belle-fille contre sa belle-mère. »
54 And He also said to the multitudes, “When you may see the cloud rising from the west, immediately you say, A shower comes, and it is so;
Il dit aussi à la foule: « Quand vous voyez un nuage s'élever à l'ouest, vous dites aussitôt: « Il va y avoir une averse », et cela arrive.
55 and when a south wind is blowing, you say that there will be heat, and it is;
Quand un vent du sud souffle, vous dites: « Il y aura une chaleur torride », et cela arrive.
56 hypocrites! You have known to discern the face of the earth and of the sky, but how do you not discern this time?
Hypocrites! Vous savez interpréter l'aspect de la terre et du ciel, mais comment se fait-il que vous n'interprétiez pas ce temps?
57 And why, also, of yourselves, do you not judge what is righteous?
« Pourquoi ne jugez-vous pas par vous-mêmes ce qui est juste?
58 For as you are going away with your opponent to the ruler, in the way give diligence to be released from him, lest he may drag you to the judge, and the judge may deliver you to the officer, and the officer may cast you into prison;
En effet, lorsque tu vas avec ton adversaire devant le magistrat, efforce-toi en chemin de te libérer de lui, de peur qu'il ne te traîne devant le juge, que le juge ne te livre à l'officier, et que l'officier ne te jette en prison.
59 I say to you, you may not come forth from there until even the last mite you may give back.”
Je vous le dis, vous ne sortirez nullement de là avant d'avoir payé jusqu'au dernier sou. »
