Leviticus 16
1 And YHWH speaks to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, in their drawing near before YHWH, and they die;
Yahvé parla à Moïse après la mort des deux fils d'Aaron, qui s'étaient approchés de Yahvé et étaient morts.
2 indeed, YHWH says to Moses, “Speak to your brother Aaron, and he does not come in at all times to the holy place within the veil, to the front of the propitiatory covering, which [is] on the Ark, and he does not die, for I am seen in a cloud on the propitiatory covering.
Yahvé dit à Moïse: « Dis à Aaron, ton frère, de ne pas entrer à l'improviste dans le lieu très saint, au-dedans du voile, devant le propitiatoire qui est sur l'arche, de peur qu'il ne meure; car je vais apparaître dans la nuée sur le propitiatoire.
3 With this Aaron comes into the holy place: with a bullock, a son of the herd, for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt-offering;
« Aaron entrera dans le sanctuaire avec un jeune taureau pour le sacrifice pour le péché et un bélier pour l'holocauste.
4 he puts on a holy linen coat, and linen trousers are on his flesh, and he girds himself with a linen girdle, and he wraps himself up with a linen turban; they [are] holy garments; and he has bathed his flesh with water and put them on.
Il revêtira la tunique de lin sacré. Il aura sur le corps le pantalon de lin, il mettra la ceinture de lin, et il sera revêtu du turban de lin. Ce sont les vêtements sacrés. Il se lavera le corps dans l'eau et les revêtira.
5 And from the congregation of the sons of Israel he takes two kids of the goats for a sin-offering and one ram for a burnt-offering;
Il prendra dans l'assemblée des enfants d'Israël deux boucs pour le sacrifice pour le péché et un bélier pour l'holocauste.
6 and Aaron has brought the bullock of the sin-offering near, which is his own, and has made atonement for himself and for his house;
« Aaron offrira le taureau du sacrifice pour le péché, qui sera pour lui, et il fera l'expiation pour lui et pour sa maison.
7 and he has taken the two goats, and has caused them to stand before YHWH, at the opening of the Tent of Meeting.
Il prendra les deux boucs et les placera devant l'Éternel, à l'entrée de la tente d'assignation.
8 And Aaron has given lots over the two goats, one lot for YHWH and one lot for a goat of departure;
Aaron tirera au sort les deux boucs, l'un pour l'Éternel, l'autre pour le bouc émissaire.
9 and Aaron has brought the goat near, on which the lot for YHWH has gone up, and has made it a sin-offering.
Aaron présentera le bouc sur lequel est tombé le sort pour l'Éternel et l'offrira en sacrifice pour le péché.
10 And the goat on which the lot for a goat of departure has gone up is caused to stand living before YHWH to make atonement by it, to send it away for a goat of departure into the wilderness.
Mais le bouc sur lequel est tombé le sort pour le bouc émissaire sera présenté vivant devant l'Éternel, afin de faire l'expiation pour lui, pour l'envoyer comme bouc émissaire dans le désert.
11 And Aaron has brought the bullock of the sin-offering near, which is his own, and has made atonement for himself and for his house, and has slaughtered the bullock of the sin-offering which [is] his own,
« Aaron présentera le taureau du sacrifice pour le péché, qui est pour lui; il fera l'expiation pour lui et pour sa maison, et il égorgera le taureau du sacrifice pour le péché qui est pour lui.
12 and has taken the fullness of the censer of burning coals of fire from off the altar, from before YHWH, and the fullness of his hands of thin spice-incense, and has brought [it] within the veil;
Il prendra sur l'autel, devant l'Éternel, un encensoir rempli de charbons ardents, et deux poignées de parfum odoriférant taillé en petits morceaux, qu'il apportera en dedans du voile.
13 and he has put the incense on the fire before YHWH, and the cloud of the incense has covered the propitiatory covering which [is] on the Testimony, and he does not die.
Il mettra l'encens sur le feu devant l'Éternel, afin que la nuée de l'encens couvre le propitiatoire qui est sur l'alliance, et qu'il ne meure pas.
14 And he has taken of the blood of the bullock, and has sprinkled with his finger on the front of the propitiatory covering eastward; even at the front of the propitiatory covering he sprinkles seven times of the blood with his finger.
Il prendra du sang du taureau et en fera l'aspersion avec son doigt sur le propitiatoire, à l'orient; il fera sept fois l'aspersion du sang avec son doigt devant le propitiatoire.
15 And he has slaughtered the goat of the sin-offering which [is] the people’s, and has brought in its blood to the inside of the veil, and has done with its blood as he has done with the blood of the bullock, and has sprinkled it on the propitiatory covering, and at the front of the propitiatory covering,
« Puis il égorgera le bouc du sacrifice pour le péché qui est pour le peuple, il apportera son sang en dedans du voile, il fera de son sang ce qu'il a fait du sang du taureau, et il en fera l'aspersion sur le propitiatoire et devant le propitiatoire.
16 and he has made atonement for the holy place because of the uncleanness of the sons of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins; and so he does for the Tent of Meeting which is dwelling with them in the midst of their uncleannesses.
Il fera l'expiation pour le lieu saint, à cause de la souillure des enfants d'Israël et à cause de leurs transgressions, de tous leurs péchés; il fera de même pour la tente d'assignation qui habite avec eux, au milieu de leur souillure.
17 And no man is in the Tent of Meeting in his going in to make atonement in the holy place, until his coming out; and he has made atonement for himself, and for his house, and for all the assembly of Israel.
Personne ne sera dans la Tente d'assignation lorsqu'il entrera pour faire l'expiation dans le Lieu saint, jusqu'à ce qu'il en sorte et qu'il ait fait l'expiation pour lui-même, pour sa famille et pour toute l'assemblée d'Israël.
18 And he has gone out to the altar which [is] before YHWH, and has made atonement for it; and he has taken of the blood of the bullock and of the blood of the goat, and has put [it] around the horns of the altar;
« Il ira vers l'autel qui est devant l'Éternel et fera l'expiation pour lui; il prendra du sang de taureau et du sang de bouc, et il en mettra autour des cornes de l'autel.
19 and he has sprinkled on it of the blood with his finger seven times, and has cleansed it, and has hallowed it from the uncleannesses of the sons of Israel.
Il fera sept fois avec son doigt l'aspersion d'un peu de sang sur l'autel, il le purifiera et le sanctifiera des impuretés des enfants d'Israël.
20 And he has ceased from making atonement [for] the holy place, and the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, and has brought the living goat near;
« Lorsqu'il aura achevé d'expier pour le Lieu saint, la Tente d'assignation et l'autel, il présentera le bouc vivant.
21 and Aaron has laid his two hands on the head of the living goat, and has confessed over it all the iniquities of the sons of Israel, and all their transgressions in all their sins, and has put them on the head of the goat, and has sent [it] away by the hand of a ready man into the wilderness;
Aaron posera ses deux mains sur la tête du bouc vivant et confessera sur lui toutes les iniquités des enfants d'Israël, toutes leurs transgressions, tous leurs péchés; il les mettra sur la tête du bouc et l'enverra dans le désert par la main d'un homme préparé.
22 and the goat has borne on himself all their iniquities to a land of separation. And he has sent the goat away into the wilderness,
Le bouc portera sur lui toutes leurs iniquités jusqu'à un pays solitaire, et il relâchera le bouc dans le désert.
23 and Aaron has come into the Tent of Meeting, and has stripped off the linen garments which he had put on in his going into the holy place, and has placed them there;
« Aaron entrera dans la Tente d'assignation; il ôtera les vêtements de lin dont il s'est revêtu en entrant dans le Lieu saint, et il les laissera là.
24 and he has bathed his flesh with water in the holy place, and has put on his garments, and has come out, and has made his burnt-offering, and the burnt-offering of the people, and has made atonement for himself and for the people;
Il se lavera ensuite dans l'eau dans un lieu saint, remettra ses vêtements et sortira pour offrir son holocauste et celui du peuple, et il fera l'expiation pour lui-même et pour le peuple.
25 and with the fat of the sin-offering he makes incense on the altar.
Il brûlera sur l'autel la graisse du sacrifice pour le péché.
26 And he who is sending the goat away for a goat of departure washes his garments, and has bathed his flesh with water, and afterward he comes into the camp.
« Celui qui aura laissé le bouc comme bouc émissaire lavera ses vêtements et lavera sa chair dans l'eau, puis il entrera dans le camp.
27 And the bullock of the sin-offering and the goat of the sin-offering, whose blood has been brought in to make atonement in the holy place, [one] brings out to the outside of the camp, and they have burned their skins, and their flesh, and their dung with fire;
Le taureau pour le sacrifice pour le péché et le bouc pour le sacrifice pour le péché, dont le sang a été apporté pour faire l'expiation dans le lieu saint, seront transportés hors du camp; on brûlera au feu leurs peaux, leur chair et leurs excréments.
28 and he who is burning them washes his garments, and has bathed his flesh with water, and afterward he comes into the camp.
Celui qui les brûlera lavera ses vêtements et lavera son corps dans l'eau, puis il rentrera dans le camp.
29 And it has been for a continuous statute to you, in the seventh month, on the tenth of the month, you humble yourselves, and do no work—the native and the sojourner who is sojourning in your midst;
« Ce sera pour vous une loi à perpétuité: au septième mois, le dixième jour du mois, vous affligerez vos âmes et vous ne ferez aucun travail, que vous soyez natif ou étranger au milieu de vous;
30 for on this day he makes atonement for you, to cleanse you; you are clean from all your sins before YHWH;
car en ce jour, on fera pour vous l'expiation, pour vous purifier. Vous serez purifiés de tous vos péchés devant Yahvé.
31 it [is] a Sabbath of rest for you, and you have humbled yourselves—a continuous statute.
C'est un sabbat de repos solennel pour vous, et vous affligerez vos âmes. C'est un statut pour toujours.
32 And the priest whom he anoints, and whose hand he consecrates to act as priest instead of his father, has made atonement, and has put on the linen garments, the holy garments;
Le prêtre, qui a reçu l'onction et qui a été consacré pour être prêtre à la place de son père, fera l'expiation et revêtira les vêtements de lin, les vêtements sacrés.
33 and he has made atonement [for] the holy sanctuary; and [for] the Tent of Meeting, even [for] the altar he makes atonement; indeed, he makes atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.
Puis il fera l'expiation du sanctuaire saint, de la tente d'assignation et de l'autel, et il fera l'expiation des prêtres et de tout le peuple de l'assemblée.
34 And this has been for a continuous statute to you, to make atonement for the sons of Israel, because of all their sins, once in a year”; and he does as YHWH has commanded Moses.
« Ce sera pour toi une loi perpétuelle: tu feras l'expiation pour les enfants d'Israël une fois par an, à cause de tous leurs péchés. » Cela a été fait comme Yahvé l'avait ordonné à Moïse.
