Lamentations 5
1 Remember, O YHWH, what has befallen us, Look attentively, and see our reproach.
Ricordati, Signore, di quanto ci è accaduto, guarda e considera il nostro obbrobrio.
2 Our inheritance has been turned to strangers, Our houses to foreigners.
La nostra eredità è passata a stranieri, le nostre case a estranei.
3 Orphans we have been—without a father, our mothers [are] as widows.
Orfani siam diventati, senza padre; le nostre madri come vedove.
4 We have drunk our water for money, Our wood comes for a price.
L'acqua nostra beviamo per denaro, la nostra legna si acquista a pagamento.
5 For our neck we have been pursued, We have labored—there has been no rest for us.
Con un giogo sul collo siamo perseguitati siamo sfiniti, non c'è per noi riposo.
6 [To] Egypt we have given a hand, [To] Asshur, to be satisfied with bread.
All'Egitto abbiamo teso la mano, all'Assiria per saziarci di pane.
7 Our fathers have sinned—they are not, We have borne their iniquities.
I nostri padri peccarono e non sono più, noi portiamo la pena delle loro iniquità.
8 Servants have ruled over us, There is no deliverer from their hand.
Schiavi comandano su di noi, non c'è chi ci liberi dalle loro mani.
9 With our lives we bring in our bread, Because of the sword of the wilderness.
A rischio della nostra vita ci procuriamo il pane davanti alla spada nel deserto.
10 Our skin as an oven has been burning, Because of the raging of the famine.
La nostra pelle si è fatta bruciante come un forno a causa degli ardori della fame.
11 Wives in Zion they have humbled, Virgins—in cities of Judah.
Han disonorato le donne in Sion, le vergini nelle città di Giuda.
12 Princes have been hanged by their hand, Elderly faces have not been honored.
I capi sono stati impiccati dalle loro mani, i volti degli anziani non sono stati rispettati.
13 They have taken young men to grind, And youths have stumbled with wood.
I giovani han girato la mola; i ragazzi son caduti sotto il peso della legna.
14 Elderly have ceased from the gate, Young men from their song.
Gli anziani hanno disertato la porta, i giovani i loro strumenti a corda.
15 The joy of our heart has ceased, Our dancing has been turned to mourning.
La gioia si è spenta nei nostri cuori, si è mutata in lutto la nostra danza.
16 The crown has fallen [from] our head, Woe [is] now to us, for we have sinned.
E' caduta la corona dalla nostra testa; guai a noi, perché abbiamo peccato!
17 Our heart has been sick for this, Our eyes have been dim for these.
Per questo è diventato mesto il nostro cuore, per tali cose si sono annebbiati i nostri occhi:
18 For the Mount of Zion—that is desolate, Foxes have gone up on it.
perché il monte di Sion è desolato; le volpi vi scorrazzano.
19 You, O YHWH, remain for all time, Your throne to generation and generation.
Ma tu, Signore, rimani per sempre, il tuo trono di generazione in generazione.
20 Why do You forget us forever? You forsake us for [the] length of [our] days!
Perché ci vuoi dimenticare per sempre? Ci vuoi abbandonare per lunghi giorni?
21 Turn us back, O YHWH, to You, And we turn back, renew our days as of old.
Facci ritornare a te, Signore, e noi ritorneremo; rinnova i nostri giorni come in antico,
22 For have You utterly rejected us? You have been angry against us—exceedingly?
poiché non ci hai rigettati per sempre, nè senza limite sei sdegnato contro di noi.
