Lamentations 3
1 [ALEPH-BET] I [am] the man [who] has seen affliction By the rod of His wrath.

2 He has led me, and causes to go [in] darkness, and without light.
Kuo ne tataki au mo ʻomi au ki he poʻuli, kae ʻikai ki he maama.
3 Surely against me He turns back, He turns His hand all the day.
Ko e moʻoni kuo ne liliu kiate au, ʻoku ne liliu hono nima kiate au ʻi he ʻaho kotoa.
4 He has worn out my flesh and my skin. He has broken my bones.
Ko hoku kili mo hoku kakano kuo ne ngaohi ke motuʻa; kuo ne fesiʻi hoku ngaahi hui.
5 He has built up against me, And sets around poverty and weariness.
Kuo ne langaʻi meʻa kiate au, pea kuo ne takatakai au ʻaki ʻae kona mo e mamahi.
6 In dark places He has caused me to dwell, As the dead of old.
Kuo ne fokotuʻu au ʻi he ngaahi potu fakapoʻuli, ʻo hangē ko kinautolu naʻe pekia ʻi muʻa.
7 He has hedged me in, and I do not go out, He has made heavy my chain.
Kuo ne ʻāʻi takatakai au pea ʻoku ʻikai te u faʻa hao kituʻa: kuo ne fakamamafa ʻa ʻeku haʻi ukamea.
8 Also when I call and cry out, He has shut out my prayer.
ʻO kau ka tangi foki mo kalanga, ʻoku ne taʻetokangaʻi ʻeku kole.
9 He has hedged my ways with hewn work, My paths He has made crooked.
Kuo ne ʻāʻi hoku ngaahi hala ʻaki ʻae ngaahi maka kuo tā, kuo ne fakapikoʻi hoku ngaahi hala.
10 A bear lying in wait He [is] to me, A lion in secret hiding places.

11 My ways He is turning aside, and He pulls me in pieces, He has made me a desolation.

12 He has bent His bow, And sets me up as a mark for an arrow.

13 He has caused to enter into my reins The sons of His quiver.
Kuo ne pule ki he ngaahi ngahau ʻo ʻene tangai ke ʻasi ki hoku ngaahi kongaloto.
14 I have been a derision to all my people, Their song all the day.
Ko e manukiʻanga au ki hoku kakai; pea ko ʻenau tāʻanga ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē.
15 He has filled me with bitter things, He has filled me [with] wormwood.
Kuo ne fakafonu au ʻaki ʻae kona, kuo ne fakakonaʻi au ʻaki ʻae konaʻiʻī.
16 And He breaks with gravel my teeth, He has covered me with ashes.
Kuo ne fesiʻi foki hoku kau nifo ʻaki ʻae kilikili, kuo ne pani au ʻaki ʻae efu.
17 And You cast off my soul from peace, I have forgotten prosperity.
Pea kuo ke hiki hoku laumālie ke mamaʻo mei he melino: naʻe ngalo ʻiate au ʻae monūʻia.
18 And I say, My strength and my hope have perished from YHWH.
Pea ne u pehē, “Ko ʻeku mālohi mo ʻeku ʻamanaki kuo ʻauha meia Sihova;”
19 Remember my affliction and my mourning, Wormwood and gall!
ʻI heʻeku manatu ki hoku mahaki pea mo ʻeku mamahi, ʻae kona pea mo e ʻahu.
20 Remember well, and my soul bows down in me.
ʻOku kei manatu ki ai hoku laumālie, pea ʻoku angavaivai ia ʻiate au.
21 This I turn to my heart—therefore I hope.
Ko ia ʻoku ou fakamanatu ki hoku loto, pea ko ia ʻoku ou kei maʻu ai ʻae ʻamanaki.
22 The kindnesses of YHWH! For we have not been consumed, For His mercies have not ended.
Ko e meʻa ʻi he ʻaloʻofa ʻa Sihova ʻoku ʻikai te tau ʻauha, koeʻuhi ʻoku ʻikai ke ngata ʻene manavaʻofa.
23 New every morning, abundant [is] Your faithfulness.
ʻOku foʻou ia ʻi he pongipongi kotoa pē, ʻoku lahi hoʻo angatonu.
24 My portion [is] YHWH, my soul has said, Therefore I hope for Him.
ʻOku pehē ʻe hoku laumālie, “Ko hoku tofiʻa ʻa Sihova: ko ia te u ʻamanaki lelei ʻiate ia.”
25 YHWH [is] good to those waiting for Him, To the soul [that] seeks Him.
ʻOku lelei ʻa Sihova kiate kinautolu ʻoku tatali kiate ia, ki he laumālie ʻoku kumi kiate ia.
26 [It is] good when one stays and stands still For the salvation of YHWH.
ʻOku lelei ki he tangata ke ne ʻamanaki, pea ne tatali fakatatoka foki ki he fakamoʻui meia Sihova.
27 [It is] good for a man that he bears a yoke in his youth.
ʻOku lelei ki he tangata ke ne fua ʻae haʻamo ʻi heʻene kei talavou.
28 He sits alone, and is silent, For He has laid [it] on him.
ʻOku ne nofo tokotaha pe, pea ʻoku longo pe, koeʻuhi kuo ne fua ia ʻe ia pe.
29 He puts his mouth in the dust, if so be, there is hope.
ʻOku ne ʻai hono ngutu ʻi he efu, ko e meʻa naʻa ʻoku kei ai ha ʻamanaki.
30 He gives to his striker the cheek, He is filled with reproach.
ʻOku ne tuku hono kouʻahe kiate ia ʻoku ne taaʻi ia: ʻoku ne pito ʻaupito ʻi he lauʻi kovi.
31 For the Lord does not cast off for all time.
He koeʻuhi ʻe ʻikai liʻaki ke lauikuonga ʻe Sihova:
32 For though He afflicted, yet He has pitied, According to the abundance of His kindness.
He kapau te ne fakamamahi, ka te ne manavaʻofa foki ʻo fakatatau ki hono lahi ʻo ʻene ngaahi ʻaloʻofa.
33 For He has not afflicted with His heart, Nor does He grieve the sons of men.
He ʻoku ʻikai te ne fie tautea, pe fakamamahi ʻae fānau ʻae tangata.
34 To bruise under one’s feet any bound ones of earth,
Ke laiki ʻi hono lalo vaʻe ʻae ngaahi pōpula kotoa pē ʻo māmani,
35 To turn aside the judgment of a man, Before the face of the Most High,
Ke fakatafe ʻae totonu ʻoe tangata ʻi he ʻao ʻoe fofonga ʻoe Fungani Māʻoniʻoni,
36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord has not approved.
Ke kākaaʻi ʻae tangata ʻi hono fakamaauʻi ʻoku ʻikai lelei ai ʻa Sihova.
37 Who [is] this—he has spoken, and it is, [And] the Lord has not commanded [it]?
Ko hai ia ʻoku fakahā, pea ʻoku hoko ia, ʻo kapau ʻoku ʻikai ke fekau ʻe Sihova?
38 From the mouth of the Most High does not go forth the evils and the good.
ʻOku ʻikai ke ʻalu mei he fofonga ʻoe Fungani Māʻolunga ʻae lelei mo e kovi.
39 Why does a living man sigh habitually, A man for his sin?
Ko e hā ʻoku lāunga ai ʻae tangata moʻui, ʻae tangata koeʻuhi ko e tautea ʻo ʻene ngaahi angahala?
40 We search our ways, and investigate, And turn back to YHWH.
Ke tau kumi mo ʻahiʻahiʻi hotau ngaahi ʻaluʻanga, pea toe tafoki kia Sihova.
41 We lift up our heart on the hands to God in the heavens.
Ke tau hiki hake hotau loto mo hotau nima ki he ʻOtua ʻi he ngaahi langi.
42 We have transgressed and been rebellious, You have not forgiven.
“Kuo mau fai talangataʻa, pea kuo mau angatuʻu: ʻoku teʻeki ai te ke fakamolemole.
43 You have covered Yourself with anger, And pursue us; You have slain—You have not pitied.
“Kuo ke ʻuʻufi ʻaki ʻae houhau, pea fakatangaʻi ʻakimautolu: kuo ke tāmateʻi pea naʻe ʻikai te ke manavaʻofa.
44 You have covered Yourself with a cloud, So that prayer does not pass through.
Kuo ke ʻufiʻufi koe ʻaki ʻae ʻao, ke ʻoua naʻa ʻasi atu ʻa ʻemau kole.
45 Outcast and refuse You make us In the midst of the peoples.
Kuo ke ngaohi ʻakimautolu ko e efe mo e ʻotoʻota ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe kakai.
46 Opened against us their mouth have all our enemies.
“Kuo mafaʻa ʻae ngutu ʻa homau kau fili kotoa pē kiate kimautolu.
47 Fear and a snare has been for us, Desolation and destruction.
Kuo hoko mai ʻae manavahē mo e tauhele kiate kimautolu, ʻae lala mo e ʻauha.”
48 Streams of water go down my eye, For the destruction of the daughter of my people.
ʻOku tafe hifo hoku mata, hangē ko e ngaahi vaitafe, koeʻuhi ko e ʻauha ʻae ʻofefine ʻo hoku kakai.
49 My eye is poured out, And does not cease without intermission,
“ʻOku tafe hifo ʻa hoku mata, pea ʻikai ʻosi, ʻoku ʻikai siʻi ke tuku.
50 Until YHWH looks and sees from the heavens,
Ke ʻoua ke ʻafio mai ʻa Sihova, pea vakai mei he langi.
51 My eye affects my soul, Because of all the daughters of my city.
Ko hoku mata ʻoku ne ueʻi hoku loto, koeʻuhi ko e ngaahi ʻofefine kotoa pē ʻo ʻeku kolo.
52 Hunting—my enemies have hunted me without cause like the bird.
“Naʻe tuli fakamamahi au ʻe hoku kau fili hangē ha manupuna, taʻehanoʻuhinga.
53 They have cut off my life in a pit, And they cast a stone against me.
Kuo nau motuhi ʻeku moʻui ʻi he fale fakapōpula, pea kuo lī ha maka kiate au.
54 Waters have flowed over my head, I have said, I have been cut off.
naʻe melemo hoku ʻulu ʻi he ngaahi vai; pea ne u toki pehē, ‘Kuo motuhi au.’
55 I called Your Name, O YHWH, from the lower pit.
“ʻE Sihova ne u ui ki ho huafa mei he fale fakapōpula taumamaʻo.
56 You have heard my voice, do not hide Your ear at my breathing—at my cry.
Kuo ke fanongo ki hoku leʻo; ʻoua naʻa ke fufū ho fofonga ki heʻeku mānava, ki heʻeku tangi.
57 You have drawn near in the day I call You, You have said, Do not fear.
Naʻa ke ʻunuʻunu mai ʻo ofi ʻi he ʻaho ko ia ne u ui kiate koe: naʻa ke pehē, “ʻOua naʻa manavahē.”
58 You have pleaded, O Lord, the pleadings of my soul, You have redeemed my life.
“ʻE Sihova kuo ke langomakiʻi hoku laumālie; kuo ke huhuʻi ʻeku moʻui.
59 You have seen, O YHWH, my overthrow, Judge my cause.
ʻE Sihova kuo ke ʻafioʻi ki he kovi kuo fai kiate au, fakamaau ʻe koe ʻeku meʻa.
60 You have seen all their vengeance, All their thoughts of me.
Kuo ke ʻafio ki heʻenau lili kotoa pē, mo ʻenau ngaahi filioʻi kiate au.
61 You have heard their reproach, O YHWH, All their thoughts against me,
“ʻE ʻEiki kuo ke fanongo ki heʻenau taukae, pea mo ʻenau ngaahi filioʻi kiate au;
62 The lips of my withstanders, Even their meditation against me all the day.
ʻae loungutu ʻonautolu naʻe tuʻu hake kiate au, pea mo ʻenau fakatupu meʻa kiate au ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē.
63 Their sitting down, and their rising up, Behold attentively, I [am] their song.
Vakai ki heʻenau nofo hifo mo ʻenau tuʻu hake; ko au ko ʻenau taʻanga.
64 You return to them the deed, O YHWH, According to the work of their hands.
“ʻE ʻEiki ke ke tuku kiate kinautolu ha totongi, ʻo fakatatau ki he ngāue ʻa honau nima.
65 You give to them a covered heart, Your curse to them.
Tuku kiate kinautolu ʻae mamahi ʻoe loto, ʻa hoʻo malaʻia kiate kinautolu.
66 You pursue in anger, and destroy them, From under the heavens of YHWH!
Fakatanga mo fakaʻauha ʻakinautolu ʻi he houhau mei he lalo langi ʻa Sihova.
