Judges 20
1 And all the sons of Israel go out, and the congregation is assembled as one man, from Dan even to Beer-Sheba, and the land of Gilead, to YHWH, at Mizpeh.
೧ದಾನ್ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ಬೇರ್ಷೆಬದವರೆಗಿರುವ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇರುವ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಏಕಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಮಿಚ್ಪೆಗೆ ಬಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಸನ್ನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಭೆ ಸೇರಿದರು.
2 And the chiefs of all the people, of all the tribes of Israel, station themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen drawing sword.
೨ಆ ದೇವಜನರ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕುಲಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳೂ, ಯುದ್ಧಸನ್ನದ್ಧರಾದ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಲಕ್ಷ ಕಾಲಾಳುಗಳೂ ಇದ್ದರು.
3 And the sons of Benjamin hear that the sons of Israel have gone up to Mizpeh. And the sons of Israel say, “Speak! How has this evil been?”
೩ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಿಚ್ಪೆಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆಂಬ ವರ್ತಮಾನವು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿತು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು, “ಈ ದುಷ್ಟತನವು ಹೇಗೆ ನಡೆಯಿತೆಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು
4 And the man, the Levite, husband of the woman who has been murdered, answers and says, “My concubine and I went into Gibeah, which [is] of Benjamin, to lodge;
೪ಹತಳಾದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಗಂಡನಾದ ಆ ಲೇವಿಯನು, “ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಉಪಪತ್ನಿಯ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಊರಾದ ಗಿಬೆಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಉಳಿದುಕೊಂಡೆನು.
5 and the masters of Gibeah rise against me—and they go around the house against me by night—they thought to slay me, and they have humbled my concubine, and she dies;
೫ಆ ಊರಿನ ಜನರು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅದೇ ರಾತ್ರಿ ನಾನು ಇಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡರು, ಮತ್ತು ನನ್ನ ಉಪಪತ್ನಿಯನ್ನು ಭಂಗಪಡಿಸಿದರು, ಆಕೆಯು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದಳು.
6 and I lay hold on my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and send her into all the country of the inheritance of Israel; for they have done wickedness and folly in Israel;
೬ಅವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಇಂಥ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ರೂರ ಕೆಲಸವು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಲೆಂದು ನಾನು ಆಕೆಯ ಶವವನ್ನು ತುಂಡುಮಾಡಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಪ್ರಾಂತ್ಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದೆನು.
7 behold, you [are] all sons of Israel; give for yourselves a word and counsel here.”
೭ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೇ, ಈಗ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಆಲೋಚನೆ ಮತ್ತು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿರಿ” ಅಂದನು.
8 And all the people rise as one man, saying, “None of us goes to his tent, and none of us turns aside to his house;
೮ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಜನರು ಏಕಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ, “ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವನೂ ತನ್ನ ಗುಡಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬಾರದು; ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗದಿರಲಿ.
9 and now, this [is] the thing which we do to Gibeah: [we go up] against it by lot!
೯ನಾವು ಚೀಟು ಹಾಕೋಣ; ಅದು ಬಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಗಿಬೆಯದವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗೋಣ.
10 And we have taken ten men of one hundred, of all the tribes of Israel, and one hundred of a thousand, and a thousand of a myriad, to receive provision for the people, to do, at their coming to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the folly which it has done in Israel.”
೧೦ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಕುಲಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೂರಕ್ಕೆ ಹತ್ತು, ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೆ ನೂರು, ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾವಿರ ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ಆಹಾರ ತರುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸೋಣ. ಅವರು ಬಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಾದ ಗಿಬೆಯದವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಿದ ದುಷ್ಟ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ದಂಡನೆಮಾಡೋಣ” ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡರು.
11 And every man of Israel is gathered to the city, as one man—companions.
೧೧ಹೀಗೆ ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಏಕಮನಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದ ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡರು.
12 And the tribes of Israel send men among all the tribes of Benjamin, saying, “What [is] this evil which has been among you?
೧೨ಅವರು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಕುಲದವರ ಬಳಿಗೆ ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಈ ದುಷ್ಕೃತ್ಯ ಎಂಥದು?
13 And now, give up the men—sons of worthlessness—which [are] in Gibeah, and we put them to death, and we put away evil from Israel.” And [the sons of] Benjamin have not been willing to listen to the voice of their brothers, the sons of Israel;
೧೩ಈಗ ಗಿಬೆಯ ಊರಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಆ ದುಷ್ಟರನ್ನು ನಮಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿರಿ; ನಾವು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರ ಮಧ್ಯದಿಂದ ಇಂಥ ದುಷ್ಟತನವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುತ್ತೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
14 and the sons of Benjamin are gathered out of the cities to Gibeah, to go out to battle with the sons of Israel.
೧೪ಆದರೆ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರು ತಮ್ಮ ಬಂಧುಗಳ ಮಾತಿಗೆ ಕಿವಿಗೊಡದೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಊರುಗಳಿಂದ ಗಿಬೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಸನ್ನದ್ಧರಾದರು.
15 And the sons of Benjamin number themselves on that day; out of the cities [are] twenty-six thousand men drawing sword, apart from the inhabitants of Gibeah, [who] numbered themselves, seven hundred chosen men;
೧೫ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಯಾ ಊರುಗಳಿಂದ ಯುದ್ಧಸನ್ನದ್ಧರಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿಬಂದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯು ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತಾರು ಸಾವಿರವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಇವರಲ್ಲದೆ ಗಿಬೆಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಏಳು ನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರರಿದ್ದರು.
16 among all this people [are] seven hundred chosen men, their right hand bound, each of these slinging with a stone at the hair, and he does not err.
೧೬ಈ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಏಳುನೂರು ಜನರು ಎಡಚರಾದ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರರಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರು ಕೂದಲೆಳೆಯಷ್ಟು ಗುರಿತಪ್ಪದ ಹಾಗೆ ಕವಣೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆಯುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಪುಣರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
17 And the men of Israel numbered themselves, apart from Benjamin, four hundred thousand men, drawing sword, each of these a man of war.
೧೭ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಲ್ಲದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಲಕ್ಷ ಯೋಧರಿದ್ದರು; ಇವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ವೀರರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.
18 And they rise and go up to Beth-El, and ask of God, and the sons of Israel say, “Who goes up for us at the commencement to battle with the sons of Benjamin?” And YHWH says, “Judah—at the commencement.”
೧೮ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಬೇತೇಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, “ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಮೊದಲು ಯಾರು ಹೋಗಬೇಕು?” ಎಂದು ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಲು ಆತನು, “ಮೊದಲು ಯೆಹೂದ ಕುಲದವರು ಹೋಗಲಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
19 And the sons of Israel rise in the morning, and encamp against Gibeah,
೧೯ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಗಿಬೆಯದ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಳೆಯಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು,
20 and the men of Israel go out to battle with Benjamin, and the men of Israel set themselves in array [for] battle with them, against Gibeah,
೨೦ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಸಿದ್ಧರಾಗಿ, ಗಿಬೆಯದ ಎದುರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯೂಹಕಟ್ಟಿ ನಿಂತರು.
21 and the sons of Benjamin come out from Gibeah, and destroy twenty-two thousand men in Israel on that day—to the earth.
೨೧ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರು ಗಿಬೆಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೆರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ನೆಲಕ್ಕುರುಳಿಸಿದರು.
22 And the people, the men of Israel, strengthen themselves, and add to set in array [for] battle in the place where they arranged themselves on the first day.
೨೨ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ತಿರುಗಿ ಧೈರ್ಯ ತಂದುಕೊಂಡು ಮೊದಲನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯೂಹಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲೇ ತಿರುಗಿ ವ್ಯೂಹಕಟ್ಟಿ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತರು.
23 And the sons of Israel go up and weep before YHWH until the evening, and ask of YHWH, saying, “Do I add to draw near to battle with the sons of my brother Benjamin?” And YHWH says, “Go up against him.”
೨೩ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಹೋಗಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಅಳುತ್ತಾ, “ನಾವು ತಿರುಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ಬಂಧುಗಳಾದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಬೇಕೋ?” ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಲು, ಆತನು, “ಹೋಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿರಿ” ಅಂದನು.
24 And the sons of Israel draw near to the sons of Benjamin on the second day,
೨೪ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಎರಡನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧರಾಗಿ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಸಮೀಪಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು.
25 and Benjamin comes out to meet them from Gibeah on the second day, and destroy eighteen thousand men among the sons of Israel again—to the earth; all these are drawing sword.
೨೫ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರು ಎರಡನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಗಿಬೆಯದಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರರನ್ನು ನೆಲಕ್ಕೆ ಉರುಳಿಸಿದರು.
26 And all the sons of Israel go up, even all the people, and come to Beth-El, and weep, and sit there before YHWH, and fast on that day until the evening, and cause burnt-offerings and peace-offerings to ascend before YHWH.
೨೬ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರೂ, ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರೂ ಬೇತೇಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಅಳುತ್ತಾ ಬಿದ್ದು ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದ ವರೆಗೆ ಉಪವಾಸಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಆತನಿಗೆ ಸರ್ವಾಂಗಹೋಮಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಸಮಾಧಾನ ಯಜ್ಞಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು.
27 And the sons of Israel ask of YHWH—and the Ark of the Covenant of God [is] there in those days,
೨೭ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋವನ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯ ಮಂಜೂಷವು ಆ ಊರೊಳಗಿತ್ತು;
28 and Phinehas son of Eleazar, son of Aaron, is standing before it in those days, saying, “Do I add to go out to battle again with the sons of my brother Benjamin, or do I cease?” And YHWH says, “Go up, for tomorrow I give him into your hand.”
೨೮ಆರೋನನ ಮೊಮ್ಮಗನೂ, ಎಲ್ಲಾಜಾರನ ಮಗನೂ ಆದ ಫೀನೆಹಾಸನು ಯಾಜಕಸೇವೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು. ಹೀಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು, “ನಾವು ನಮ್ಮ ಬಂಧುಗಳಾದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕೋ, ಬೇಡವೋ?” ಎಂದು ಯೆಹೋವನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರು. ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ, “ಹೋಗಿರಿ, ನಾಳೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸುವೆನು” ಅಂದನು.
29 And Israel sets ones lying in wait against Gibeah, all around,
೨೯ಆಗ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಗಿಬೆಯದ ಸುತ್ತಲೂ ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇರಿಸಿ,
30 and the sons of Israel go up against the sons of Benjamin on the third day, and arrange themselves against Gibeah, as time by time.
೩೦ಉಳಿದವರು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಕಾದಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಮುಂಚಿನಂತೆ ಮೂರನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಗಿಬೆಯದ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯೂಹಕಟ್ಟಿದರು.
31 And the sons of Benjamin come out to meet the people; they have been drawn away out of the city, and begin to strike [some] of the people—wounded as time by time—in the highways (of which one is going up to Beth-El, and the other to Gibeah in the field), [are] about thirty men of Israel.
೩೧ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರೊಡನೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಊರೊಳಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು. ಅವರು ಮೊದಲಿನಂತೆ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ ಬೇತೇಲಿಗೂ, ಬೈಲಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗಿಬೆಯಕ್ಕೂ ಹೋಗುವ ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಹತಮಾಡಿದರು.
32 And the sons of Benjamin say, “They are struck before us as at the beginning”; but the sons of Israel said, “Let us flee, and draw them away out of the city, to the highways.”
೩೨ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರು, “ಅವರು ಮುಂಚಿನಂತೆ ಈಗಲೂ ಸೋತುಹೋಗುತ್ತಾರೆ” ಎಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡರು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಾದರೋ, “ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ದೂರವಾಗುವಂತೆ ನಾವು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದೂರ ಓಡಿಹೋಗೋಣ” ಎಂದು ಮಾತನಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು,
33 And all the men of Israel have risen from their place, and arrange themselves at Ba‘al-Tamar, and the ambush of Israel is coming forth out of its place, out of the meadow of Gibeah.
೩೩ತಾವು ಮೊದಲು ನಿಂತ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಓಡತೊಡಗಿದರು. ಬಾಳ್‌ತಾಮರಿಗೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿದ ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು ತಿರುಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚಿ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರು ತಾವು ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಗಿಬೆಯದ ಮೈದಾನದಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು
34 And they come in from the front against Gibeah—ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel—and the battle [is] grievous, and they have not known that the calamity is reaching toward them.
೩೪ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದರು; ಅವರು ಸುಮಾರು ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರರು. ಯುದ್ಧವು ಬಹುಘೋರವಾಯಿತು. ತಮಗೆ ಅಪಾಯವು ಒದಗಿ ಬಂದಿದೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
35 And YHWH strikes Benjamin before Israel, and the sons of Israel destroy in Benjamin, on that day, twenty-five thousand and one hundred men; all these [are] drawing sword.
೩೫ಯೆಹೋವನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಜಯವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೈದು ಸಾವಿರದ ನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಯೋಧರನ್ನು ಹತಮಾಡಿದರು.
36 And the sons of Benjamin see that they have been struck—and the men of Israel give place to Benjamin, for they have trusted in the ambush which they had set against Gibeah,
೩೬ತಾವು ಸೋತುಹೋದೆವೆಂಬುದು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಆಗ ತಿಳಿಯಿತು. ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ತಾವು ಗಿಬೆಯದ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಭರವಸವುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿದ್ದರಿಂದ, ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರ ಮುಂದೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.
37 and the ambush has hurried, and pushes against Gibeah, and the ambush draws itself out, and strikes the whole of the city by the mouth of the sword.
೩೭ಅಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದವರು ಎದ್ದು ಗಿಬೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಶೀಘ್ರವಾಗಿ ಹೋಗಿ, ಅದರೊಳಗಿದ್ದವರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನೂ ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಂಹರಿಸಿದರು.
38 And the appointed sign of the men of Israel with the ambush was their causing a great volume of smoke to go up from the city.
೩೮ಅಡಗಿದ್ದವರು ಊರಿಗೆ ಬೆಂಕಿಹೊತ್ತಿಸಿ ಹೊಗೆ ಏರಿಹೋಗುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮೇಲೆ, ಓಡಿಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರು ಪುನಃ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕುವವರೂ ಹಾಗು ಉಳಿದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರೂ ತಮ್ಮ ತಮ್ಮೊಳಗೆ ಮೊದಲೇ ಗೊತ್ತುಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು.
39 And the men of Israel turn in battle, and Benjamin has begun to strike the wounded among the men of Israel, about thirty men, for they said, “Surely they are utterly struck before us, as [at] the first battle”;
೩೯ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಾದರೋ, “ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಮುಂಚಿನಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದೆ ಸೋತುಹೋದರು” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹತಮಾಡಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ, ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದರು.
40 but the volume has begun to go up from the city—a pillar of smoke—and Benjamin turns behind, and behold, the perfection of the city has gone up toward the heavens.
೪೦ಆದರೆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ಹೊಗೆ ಎದ್ದು ಸ್ತಂಭದೋಪಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ತಿರುಗಿ ನಿಂತರು.
41 And the men of Israel have turned, and the men of Benjamin are troubled, for they have seen that the calamity has struck against them—
೪೧ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ನೋಡಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಪಟ್ಟಣವು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಟ್ಟುಹೋಗುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ತಮಗೆ ಅಪಾಯ ಉಂಟಾಗುವುದೆಂದು ಕಳವಳಗೊಂಡರು.
42 and they turn before the men of Israel to the way of the wilderness, and the battle has followed them; and those who [are] from the cities are destroying them in their midst;
೪೨ಅವರು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರಿಗೆ ಬೆನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸಿ ಅರಣ್ಯಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು. ಆದರೆ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರಿಂದಲೂ, ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಕಿ ಹೊತ್ತಿಸಿದವರು ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದರಿಂದಲೂ, ಅವರು ಇಬ್ಬರ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡರು.
43 they have surrounded the Benjamites—they have pursued them—they have trodden them down with ease as far as the front of Gibeah, at the sun-rising.
೪೩ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು, ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಓಡಿಹೋಗದಂತೆ, ಗಿಬೆಯ ಊರಿನ ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಮೆನೂಹದಲ್ಲಿ ತುಳಿದುಹಾಕಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
44 And eighteen thousand men of Benjamin fall—all these [were] men of valor;
೪೪ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಹದಿನೆಂಟು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ ಯುದ್ಧವೀರರು ಹತರಾದರು.
45 and they turn and flee toward the wilderness, to the rock of Rimmon; and they glean five thousand of their men in the highways, and follow after them to Gidom, and strike two thousand [more] of their men.
೪೫ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರು ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ರಿಮ್ಮೋನ್ ಗಿರಿಗೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗುವಾಗ ಹಕ್ಕಲು ತೆನೆಗಳನ್ನೋ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ಐದು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ರಾಜಮಾರ್ಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಗಿದೋಮಿನವರೆಗೆ ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ತಿರುಗಿ ಎರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಹತಮಾಡಿದರು.
46 And all those falling of Benjamin are twenty-five thousand men drawing sword, on that day—all these [were] men of valor;
೪೬ಹೀಗೆ ಆ ದಿನ ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೈದು ಸಾವಿರ ಯುದ್ಧಸನ್ನದ್ಧರಾದ ಸೈನಿಕರು ಸಂಹರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟರು.
47 but six hundred men turn and flee into the wilderness, to the rock of Rimmon, and they dwell in the rock of Rimmon four months.
೪೭ಆದರೆ ಆರು ನೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಅರಣ್ಯಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ, ರಿಮ್ಮೋನ್ ಗಿರಿಯನ್ನು ಸೇರಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಲ್ಕು ತಿಂಗಳಿದ್ದರು.
48 And the men of Israel have turned back to the sons of Benjamin, and strike them by the mouth of the sword out of the city—men even to livestock, even to all that is found; they have also sent all the cities which are found into the fire.
೪೮ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲರು ಪುನಃ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಬಂದು ಬೆನ್ಯಾಮೀನ್ ದೇಶದ ಉಳಿದ ಗ್ರಾಮನಗರಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅವುಗಳ ನಿವಾಸಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ದನಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ್ದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಸಂಹರಿಸಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಊರುಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
