Judges 17
1 And there is a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name [is] Micah,
Et il y avait un homme de la montagne d'Ephraïm, et Micha était son nom.
2 and he says to his mother, “The eleven hundred pieces of silver which have been taken of yours, and [of which] you have sworn, and also spoken in my ears; behold, the silver [is] with me, I have taken it”; and his mother says, “Blessed [is] my son of YHWH.”
Et il dit à sa mère: Les mille et cent sicles d'argent qui t'ont été soustraits et au sujet desquels tu as fait une adjuration prononcée par toi à mes oreilles mêmes, eh bien! cet argent est par devers moi, c'est moi qui l'ai soustrait. Alors sa mère dit: Que mon fils soit béni de l'Éternel!
3 And he gives back the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother says, “I had certainly sanctified the silver to YHWH, from my hand, for my son, to make a carved image, and a molten image; and now, I give it back to you.”
Il restitua donc les mille et cent sicles d'argent à sa mère. Et sa mère dit: J'ai consacré cet argent à l'Éternel. De ma main il passera à mon fils pour en faire une image de taille et de fonte, je te le rends donc.
4 And he gives back the money to his mother, and his mother takes two hundred pieces of silver, and gives them to a refiner, and he makes them a carved image, and a molten image, and it is in the house of Micah.
Cependant il restitua l'argent à sa mère. Alors sa mère prit deux cents sicles qu'elle remit à l'orfèvre, et il en fit une image de taille et de fonte qui fut dans la maison de Micha.
5 As for the man Micah, he has a house of gods, and he makes an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrates the hand of one of his sons, and he is for a priest to him;
Et cet homme, Micha, avait une chapelle, et il fit un Ephod, et des Théraphims, et il installa l'un de ses fils dans lequel il eut un prêtre.
6 in those days there is no king in Israel, each does that which is right in his own eyes.
A cette époque il n'y avait pas de roi en Israël; chacun faisait ce qui lui semblait bon.
7 And there is a young man of Beth-Lehem-Judah, of the family of Judah, and he [is] a Levite, and he [is] a sojourner there.
Et il y avait un jeune homme de Bethléhem de Juda, de la famille de Juda, or il était Lévite; et il séjournait là.
8 And the man goes out of the city, out of Beth-Lehem-Judah, to sojourn where he finds, and comes to the hill-country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, to work his way.
Et cet homme partit de la ville de Bethléhem de Juda, pour établir son séjour là où il trouverait. Et il arriva dans la montagne d'Ephraïm à la maison de Micha pour de là continuer sa route.
9 And Micah says to him, “Where do you come from?” And he says to him, “I [am] a Levite of Beth-Lehem-Judah, and I am going to sojourn where I find.”
Et Micha lui dit: D'où viens-tu? Et il lui dit: Je suis un Lévite, de Bethléhem de Juda, et je vais établir mon séjour là où je trouverai.
10 And Micah says to him, “Dwell with me, and be for a father and for a priest to me, and I give ten pieces of silver to you for the days, and a suit of garments, and your sustenance”; and the Levite goes [in].
Et Micha lui dit: Reste avec moi; sois pour moi un père et un prêtre, et je te donnerai dix sicles d'argent par an et un assortiment d'habits et ta nourriture. Et le Lévite partit.
11 And the Levite is willing to dwell with the man, and the young man is to him as one of his sons.
Et le Lévite se décida à rester avec cet homme, et le jeune homme fut pour celui-ci comme l'un de ses fils.
12 And Micah consecrates the hand of the Levite, and the young man is for a priest to him, and he is in the house of Micah,
Et Micha installa le Lévite, et le jeune homme devint son prêtre, et il fut dans la maison de Micha.
13 and Micah says, “Now I have known that YHWH does good to me, for the Levite has been for a priest to me.”
Et Micha dit: Maintenant je sais que l'Éternel me fera du bien, puisque j'ai ce Lévite pour prêtre.
