Judges 17
1 And there is a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, and his name [is] Micah,
Il y avait un homme de la montagne d’Ephraïm, nommé Michas.
2 and he says to his mother, “The eleven hundred pieces of silver which have been taken of yours, and [of which] you have sworn, and also spoken in my ears; behold, the silver [is] with me, I have taken it”; and his mother says, “Blessed [is] my son of YHWH.”
Il dit à sa mère: « Les mille et cent sicles d’argent qu’on t’a pris, et au sujet desquels tu as prononcé une malédiction, — et tu l’as même prononcée à mes oreilles, — voici, cet argent est entre mes mains, c’est moi qui l’ai pris. » Et sa mère dit: « Que mon fils soit béni de Yahweh! »
3 And he gives back the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother, and his mother says, “I had certainly sanctified the silver to YHWH, from my hand, for my son, to make a carved image, and a molten image; and now, I give it back to you.”
Il rendit à sa mère les mille et cent sicles d’argent; et sa mère dit: « Je consacre de ma main cet argent à Yahweh pour mon fils, afin d’en faire une image taillée et un objet en fonte; et maintenant je te le rends. »
4 And he gives back the money to his mother, and his mother takes two hundred pieces of silver, and gives them to a refiner, and he makes them a carved image, and a molten image, and it is in the house of Micah.
Lorsqu’il eut rendu l’argent à sa mère, sa mère prit deux cents sicles et les donna au fondeur, qui en fit une image taillée et un objet en fonte; et ils furent dans la maison de Michas.
5 As for the man Micah, he has a house of gods, and he makes an ephod, and teraphim, and consecrates the hand of one of his sons, and he is for a priest to him;
Car ce Michas avait une maison de Dieu; il fit un éphod et des théraphim, et il consacra un de ses fils, qui lui servit de prêtre.
6 in those days there is no king in Israel, each does that which is right in his own eyes.
En ce temps-là, il n’y avait pas de roi en Israël; chacun faisait ce qui était bon à ses yeux.
7 And there is a young man of Beth-Lehem-Judah, of the family of Judah, and he [is] a Levite, and he [is] a sojourner there.
Il y avait un jeune homme de Bethléem de Juda, de la famille de Juda; il était Lévite et séjournait dans celle ville.
8 And the man goes out of the city, out of Beth-Lehem-Judah, to sojourn where he finds, and comes to the hill-country of Ephraim, to the house of Micah, to work his way.
Cet homme partit de la ville de Bethléem de Juda, pour trouver un lieu de séjour. Il arriva ainsi dans la montagne d’Ephraïm, jusqu’à la maison de Michas.
9 And Micah says to him, “Where do you come from?” And he says to him, “I [am] a Levite of Beth-Lehem-Judah, and I am going to sojourn where I find.”
Michas lui dit: « D’où viens-tu? » Il lui répondit: « Je suis Lévite, de Bethléem de Juda, et je voyage pour trouver un lieu de séjour. »
10 And Micah says to him, “Dwell with me, and be for a father and for a priest to me, and I give ten pieces of silver to you for the days, and a suit of garments, and your sustenance”; and the Levite goes [in].
Michas lui dit: « Reste avec moi; sois pour moi un père et un prêtre, et je te donnerai dix sicles d’argent par an, une provision de vêtements et la nourriture. » Et le Lévite entra.
11 And the Levite is willing to dwell with the man, and the young man is to him as one of his sons.
Le Lévite consentit à demeurer chez cet homme, et le jeune homme fut pour lui comme l’un de ses fils.
12 And Micah consecrates the hand of the Levite, and the young man is for a priest to him, and he is in the house of Micah,
Michas installa le Lévite, et le jeune homme lui servit de prêtre et demeura dans la maison de Michas.
13 and Micah says, “Now I have known that YHWH does good to me, for the Levite has been for a priest to me.”
Et Michas dit: « Je sais maintenant que Yahweh me fera du bien, puisque j’ai ce Lévite pour prêtre. »
