< Judges 12 >

1 And the men of Ephraim are called together, and pass over northward, and say to Jephthah, “Why have you passed over to fight against the sons of Ammon, and have not called on us to go with you? We burn your house with fire over you.”
Abasajja ba Efulayimu ne bayitibwa okusomoka okulaga mu Zafoni. Ne bagamba Yefusa nti, “Lwaki wagenda okulwanyisa abaana ba Amoni, n’otatuyita kugenda naawe? Tugenda kukwokera mu nnyumba yo.”
2 And Jephthah says to them, “I have been a man of great strife (I and my people) with the sons of Ammon, and I call you, and you have not saved me out of their hand,
Yefusa n’abaddamu nti, “Nze n’abantu bange twatawaana nnyo okulwanyisa abaana ba Amoni, era nabakoowoola mujje mutubeere, naye temwajja kutubeera kuva mu mukono gwabwe.
3 and I see that you are not a savior, and I put my life in my hand, and pass over to the sons of Ammon, and YHWH gives them into my hand—and why have you come up to me this day to fight against me?”
Bwe nalaba nga temuzze kutubeera, ne nteeka obulamu bwange mu ngalo zange, ne nsomoka okulwana n’abaana ba Amoni, era Mukama Katonda n’abagabula mu mukono gwange. Kaakano kiki ekibaleeta gye ndi okulwana nange leero?”
4 And Jephthah gathered all the men of Gilead, and fights with Ephraim, and the men of Gilead strike Ephraim, because they said, “You Gileadites [are] fugitives of Ephraim, in the midst of Ephraim—in the midst of Manasseh.”
Awo Yefusa n’akuŋŋaanya abantu b’e Gireyaadi bonna, ne balwanyisa Efulayimu. Abasajja ab’e Gireyaadi baabalwanyisa kubanga Efulayimu baayogera nti, “Mmwe muli bakyewaggula ba Efulayimu ab’e Gireyaadi, wakati mu Efulayimu ne mu Manase.”
5 And Gilead captures the passages of the Jordan to Ephraim, and it has been, when [any of] the fugitives of Ephraim say, “Let me pass over,” and the men of Gilead say to him, “[Are] you an Ephraimite?” And he says, “No”;
Ab’e Gireyaadi ne bawamba ebifo bya Yoludaani okusomokerwa okutuuka mu Efulayimu, era bwe waabangawo ku bakomawo aba Efulayimu eyayagalanga okusomoka, abasajja ab’e Gireyaadi nga bamubuuza nti, “Oli Mwefulayimu?”
6 that they say to him, “Now say, Shibboleth”; and he says, “Sibboleth,” and is not prepared to speak right—and they seize him, and slaughter him at the passages of the Jordan, and there fall at that time, of Ephraim, forty-two chiefs.
Bwe yeegananga, nga bamugamba ayogere nti, “Shibbolesi.” Bwe yayogeranga nti, “Sibbolesi,” kubanga teyayinzanga kukyogera bulungi, ng’akwatibwa era ng’attibwa awo awasomokerwa ku Yoludaani. Mu biro ebyo, mu Efulayimu ne mufaamu abantu emitwalo ena mu enkumi bbiri.
7 And Jephthah judged Israel [for] six years, and Jephthah the Gileadite dies, and is buried in [one of] the cities of Gilead.
Awo Yefusa n’alamula Isirayiri okumala emyaka mukaaga. Yefusa Omugireyaadi n’afa, n’aziikibwa mu kimu ku kibuga bya Gireyaadi.
8 And after him Ibzan of Beth-Lehem judges Israel,
Oluvannyuma lwa Yefusa, Ibuzaani ow’e Besirekemu n’alamula Isirayiri.
9 and he has thirty sons, and thirty daughters he gave away [in marriage], and thirty daughters he brought in from outside for his sons; and he judges Israel [for] seven years.
Yalina abaana aboobulenzi amakumi asatu, n’abaana aboobuwala amakumi asatu. Bawala be n’abafumbiza abantu abataali ba kika kye, ne batabani be n’abawasiza abawala abataali ba kika kye. N’akulembera Isirayiri okumala emyaka musanvu.
10 And Ibzan dies, and is buried in Beth-Lehem.
Ibuzaani n’afa, n’aziikibwa mu Besirekemu.
11 And after him Elon the Zebulunite judges Israel, and he judges Israel [for] ten years,
Oluvannyuma lwa Ibuzaani, Eroni Omuzebbulooni, n’alamula Isirayiri okumala emyaka kkumi.
12 and Elon the Zebulunite dies, and is buried in Aijalon, in the land of Zebulun.
Eroni Omuzebbulooni n’afa, n’aziikibwa mu Ayalooni mu nsi ya Zebbulooni.
13 And after him, Abdon son of Hillel, the Pirathonite, judges Israel,
Awo oluvannyuma lwa Eroni, Abudoni mutabani wa Kereri Omupirasoni n’alamula Isirayiri.
14 and he has forty sons, and thirty grandsons, riding on seventy donkey-colts, and he judges Israel [for] eight years.
Yalina abaana aboobulenzi amakumi ana, n’abazzukulu amakumi asatu abeebagalanga endogoyi nsanvu. Yalamula Isirayiri okumala emyaka munaana.
15 And Abdon son of Hillel, the Pirathonite, dies, and is buried in Pirathon, in the land of Ephraim, in the hill-country of the Amalekite.
Abudoni mutabani wa Kireri Omupirasoni n’afa, n’aziikibwa mu Pirasoni mu nsi ya Efulayimu, mu nsi ey’Abamaleki ey’ensozi.
