Judges 10

1 And there rises after Abimelech, to save Israel, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he is dwelling in Shamir, in the hill-country of Ephraim,

Efter AbiMelech kom upp en annan frälsare i Israel, Thola, en man af Isaschar, Puahs son, Dodo sons; och han bodde i Samir på Ephraims berg.

2 and he judges Israel [for] twenty-three years, and he dies, and is buried in Shamir.

Och han dömde Israel i tre och tjugu år, och blef död, och vardt begrafven i Samir.

3 And there rises Jair the Gileadite after him, and he judges Israel [for] twenty-two years,

Efter honom kom upp Jair, en Gileadit, och han dömde Israel i tu och tjugu år.

4 and he has thirty sons riding on thirty donkey-colts, and they have thirty cities (they call them Havoth-Jair to this day), which [are] in the land of Gilead;

Och han hade tretio söner, ridande på tretio åsnafålar, och hade tretio städer, de kallades HavothJair allt intill denna dag, och ligga i Gilead.

5 and Jair dies, and is buried in Kamon.

Och Jair blef död, och vardt begrafven i Kamon.

6 And the sons of Israel add to do evil in the eyes of YHWH, and serve the Ba‘alim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the sons of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsake YHWH, and have not served Him;

Men Israels barn gjorde åter det ondt var för Herranom; och tjente Baalim och Astaroth, och de gudar i Syria, och de gudar i Zidon, och Moabs gudar, och Ammons barnas gudar, och de Philisteers gudar, och öfvergåfvo Herran, och tjente honom intet.

7 and the anger of YHWH burns against Israel, and He sells them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the sons of Ammon,

Då förgrymmade sig Herrans vrede öfver Israel, och sålde dem under de Philisteers och Ammons barnas hand.

8 and they crush and oppress the sons of Israel in that year; [and for] eighteen years—all the sons of Israel [who] are beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorite, which [is] in Gilead.

Och de tvingade och förtryckte Israels barn, ifrå det året, i aderton år; alla Israels barn på hinsidon Jordan, uti de Amoreers lande, som i Gilead ligger.

9 And the sons of Ammon pass over the Jordan to also fight against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, and Israel has great distress.

Dertill drogo Ammons barn öfver Jordan, och stridde emot Juda, BenJamin, och emot Ephraims hus, så att Israel vardt ganska svårliga förtryckt.

10 And the sons of Israel cry to YHWH, saying, “We have sinned against You, because we have even forsaken our God, and serve the Ba‘alim.”

Då ropade Israels barn till Herran, och sade: Vi hafve syndat emot dig; ty vi hafve öfvergifvit vår Gud, och tjent Baalim.

11 And YHWH says to the sons of Israel, “[Have I] not [saved you] from the Egyptians, and from the Amorite, from the sons of Ammon, and from the Philistines?

Men Herren sade till Israels barn: Betvingade ock icke eder de Egyptier, de Amoreer, Ammons barn, de Philisteer,

12 And the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and you cry to Me, and I save you out of their hand;

De Zidonier, de Amalekiter och Maoniter? Och jag halp eder utu deras händer, då I ropaden till mig.

13 and you have forsaken Me, and serve other gods, therefore I do not add to save you.

Så hafven I dock likaväl öfvergifvit mig, och tjent andra gudar; derföre vill jag intet mer hjelpa eder.

14 Go and cry to the gods on which you have fixed; they save you in the time of your tribulation.”

Går och åkaller de gudar, som I utvalt hafven; låter dem hjelpa eder uti edor bedröfvelses tid.

15 And the sons of Israel say to YHWH, “We have sinned, do to us according to all that is good in Your eyes; only please deliver us this day.”

Men Israels barn sade till Herran: Vi hafve syndat; gör du med oss hvad dig täckes, allenast hjelp oss i denna tiden.

16 And they turn aside the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and serve YHWH, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.

Och de kastade ifrå sig de främmande gudar, och tjente Herranom; och honom ömkade deröfver, att Israel så tvingad vardt.

17 And the sons of Ammon are called together, and encamp in Gilead, and the sons of Israel are gathered together, and encamp in Mizpah.

Och Ammons barn slogo sig ihop, och lägrade sig i Gilead; men Israels barn församlade sig, och lägrade sig i Mizpa.

18 And the people—heads of Gilead—say to one another, “Who [is] the man that begins to fight against the sons of Ammon? He is for head to all inhabitants of Gilead.”

Och folket, de öfverste i Gilead, sade emellan sig: Hvilken som först begynner till att strida emot Ammons barn, han skall vara höfvitsman öfver alla de som bo i Gilead.
