Judges 1

1 And it comes to pass after the death of Joshua, that the sons of Israel ask of YHWH, saying, “Who goes up for us to the Canaanite, at the commencement, to fight against it?”

௧யோசுவா இறந்தபின்பு இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் யெகோவாவை நோக்கி: கானானியர்களை எதிர்த்து யுத்தம்செய்யும்படி, எங்களில் யார் முதலில் எழுந்து புறப்படவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

2 And YHWH says, “Judah goes up; behold, I have given the land into his hand.”

௨அதற்குக் யெகோவா: யூதா எழுந்து புறப்படட்டும்; இதோ, அந்த தேசத்தை அவனுடைய கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன் என்றார்.

3 And Judah says to his brother Simeon, “Go up with me into my lot, and we fight against the Canaanite—and I have gone, even I, with you into your lot”; and Simeon goes with him.

௩அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் மனிதர்கள் தங்களுடைய சகோதரர்களாகிய சிமியோனின் மனிதர்களை நோக்கி: நாம் கானானியர்களோடு யுத்தம்செய்ய நீங்கள் என்னுடைய சுதந்திரப் பங்குவீதத்தில் எங்களோடு எழுந்துவாருங்கள்; உங்களுடைய சுதந்திரப் பங்குவீதத்தில் நாங்களும் உங்களோடு வருவோம் என்றார்கள்; அப்படியே சிமியோன் கோத்திரத்தார்கள் அவர்களோடு போனார்கள்.

4 And Judah goes up, and YHWH gives the Canaanite and the Perizzite into their hand, and they strike them in Bezek—ten thousand men;

௪யூதா மனிதர்கள் எழுந்துபோனபோது, யெகோவா கானானியர்களையும், பெரிசியர்களையும் அவர்களுடைய கையிலே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவர்கள் பேசேக்கிலே 10,000 பேரை வெட்டினார்கள்.

5 and they find Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and fight against him, and strike the Canaanite and the Perizzite.

௫பேசேக்கிலே அதோனிபேசேக்கைப் பார்த்து, அவனோடு யுத்தம்செய்து, கானானியர்களையும், பெரிசியர்களையும் வெட்டினார்கள்.

6 And Adoni-Bezek flees, and they pursue after him, and seize him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes,

௬அதோனிபேசேக் ஓடிப்போகும்போது, அவனைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து பிடித்து, அவனுடைய கை கால்களின் பெருவிரல்களை வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள்.

7 and Adoni-Bezek says, “Seventy kings—their thumbs and their great toes cut off—have been gathering under my table; as I have done so God has repaid to me”; and they bring him to Jerusalem, and he dies there.

௭அப்பொழுது அதோனிபேசேக்: 70 ராஜாக்கள், கை கால்களின் பெருவிரல்கள் வெட்டப்பட்டவர்களாக என்னுடைய மேஜையின்கீழ் விழுந்ததைப் பொறுக்கித் தின்றார்கள்; நான் எப்படிச் செய்தேனோ, அப்படியே தேவன் எனக்கும் செய்து சரிகட்டினார் என்றான். அவனை எருசலேமிற்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்; அங்கே அவன் இறந்தான்.

8 And the sons of Judah fight against Jerusalem, and capture it, and strike it by the mouth of the sword, and they have sent the city into fire;

௮யூதாவின் மக்கள் எருசலேமின்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்து, அதைப் பிடித்து, அங்குள்ளவர்களை கூர்மையான பட்டயத்தினால் வெட்டி, பட்டணத்தை அக்கினிக்கு இரையாக்கினார்கள்.

9 and afterward the sons of Judah have gone down to fight against the Canaanite inhabiting the hill-country, and the south, and the low country;

௯பின்பு யூதாவின் மக்கள் மலைத்தேசத்திலும், தெற்கிலும், பள்ளத்தாக்குகளிலும் குடியிருக்கிற கானானியர்களோடு யுத்தம்செய்யப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.

10 and Judah goes to the Canaanite who is dwelling in Hebron (and the name of Hebron [was] formerly Kirjath-Arba), and they strike Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai.

௧0அப்படியே யூதா கோத்திரத்தார்கள் எபிரோனிலே குடியிருக்கிற கானானியர்களுக்கு எதிராகப்போய் சேசாய், அகீமான், தல்மாய் என்பவர்களை வெட்டிப்போட்டார்கள். முன்நாட்களில் அந்த எபிரோனுக்கு கீரியாத் அர்பா என்று பெயர்.

11 And he goes there to the inhabitants of Debir (and the name of Debir [was] formerly Kirjath-Sepher),

௧௧அங்கேயிருந்து தெபீரில் குடியிருப்பவர்களுக்கு எதிராகப் போனார்கள்; முன்நாட்களில் தெபீருக்கு கீரியாத்செப்பேர் என்று பெயர்.

12 and Caleb says, “He who strikes Kirjath-Sepher and has captured it—then I have given my daughter Achsah to him for a wife.”

௧௨அப்பொழுது காலேப்: கீரியாத்செப்பேரை முறியடித்துப் பிடிக்கிறவனுக்கு என்னுடைய மகளாகிய அக்சாளைத் திருமணம் செய்துகொடுப்பேன் என்றான்.

13 And Othniel son of Kenaz, younger brother of Caleb, captures it, and he gives his daughter Achsah to him for a wife.

௧௩அப்பொழுது காலேபுடைய தம்பியாகிய கேனாசின் மகன் ஒத்னியேல் அதைப் பிடித்தான்; எனவே, தன்னுடைய மகளாகிய அக்சாளை அவனுக்குத் திருமணம் செய்துகொடுத்தான்.

14 And it comes to pass in her coming in, that she persuades him to ask from her father the field, and she comes down off the donkey, and Caleb says to her, “What do you [want]?”

௧௪அவள் புறப்படும்போது, என்னுடைய தகப்பனிடத்தில் ஒரு வயல்வெளியைக் கேட்கவேண்டும் என்று ஒத்னியேலினிடத்தில் அனுமதி பெற்றுக்கொண்டு கழுதையின்மேலிருந்து இறங்கினாள். காலேப் அவளை நோக்கி: உனக்கு என்னவேண்டும் என்றான்.

15 And she says to him, “Give a blessing to me; when you have given me the south land—then you have given springs of water to me”; and Caleb gives the upper springs and the lower springs to her.

௧௫அப்பொழுது அவள்: எனக்கு ஒரு ஆசீர்வாதம் தரவேண்டும்; வறட்சியான நிலத்தை எனக்குத் தந்தீர்; நீர்ப்பாய்ச்சலான நிலங்களையும் எனக்குத் தரவேண்டும் என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது காலேப்: மேற்புறத்திலும் கீழ்ப்புறத்திலும் அவளுக்கு நீர்ப்பாய்ச்சலான நிலங்களைக் கொடுத்தான்.

16 And the sons of the Kenite, father-in-law of Moses, have gone up out of the city of palms with the sons of Judah [to] the wilderness of Judah, which [is] in the south of Arad, and they go and dwell with the people.

௧௬மோசேயின் மாமனாகிய கேனியனின் மக்களும் யூதாவின் மக்களோடு பேரீச்சை மரங்களின் பட்டணத்திலிருந்து ஆராத்திற்குத் தெற்கில் இருக்கிற யூதாவின் வனாந்திரத்திற்கு வந்து, மக்களோடு குடியேறினார்கள்.

17 And Judah goes with his brother Simeon, and they strike the Canaanite inhabiting Zephath, and devote it; and [one] calls the name of the city Hormah.

௧௭யூதா தன்னுடைய சகோதரனாகிய சிமியோனோடு போனான்; அவர்கள் சேப்பாத்தில் குடியிருக்கிற கானானியர்களை முறியடித்து, அதை அழித்து, அந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்கு ஓர்மா என்று பெயரிட்டார்கள்.

18 And Judah captures Gaza and its border, and Askelon and its border, and Ekron and its border;

௧௮யூதா, காசாவையும் அதின் எல்லையையும், அஸ்கலோனையும் அதின் எல்லையையும், எக்ரோனையும் அதின் எல்லையையும் பிடித்தான்.

19 and YHWH is with Judah, and he occupies the hill-country, but not to dispossess the inhabitants of the valley, for they have chariots of iron.

௧௯யெகோவா யூதாவோடு இருந்ததினால், மலைத்தேசத்தார்களைத் துரத்திவிட்டார்கள்; பள்ளத்தாக்கில் குடியிருப்பவர்களுக்கு இரும்பு ரதங்கள் இருந்தபடியினால், அவர்களைத் துரத்தமுடியாமல்போனது.

20 And they give Hebron to Caleb, as Moses has spoken, and he dispossesses the three sons of Anak there.

௨0மோசே சொன்னபடியே, எபிரோனைக் காலேபுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்; அவன் அதிலிருந்த ஏனாக்கின் மூன்று மகன்களையும் துரத்திவிட்டான்.

21 And the sons of Benjamin have not dispossessed the Jebusite inhabiting Jerusalem; and the Jebusite dwells with the sons of Benjamin, in Jerusalem, until this day.

௨௧பென்யமீனின் மகன்கள் எருசலேமிலே குடியிருந்த எபூசியர்களையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை; எனவே, எபூசியர்கள் இந்த நாள்வரை பென்யமீன் மக்களோடு எருசலேமில் குடியிருக்கிறார்கள்.

22 And the house of Joseph goes up—even they—to Beth-El, and YHWH [is] with them;

௨௨யோசேப்பின் குடும்பத்தினரும் பெத்தேலுக்கு எதிராகப் போனார்கள்; யெகோவா அவர்களோடு இருந்தார்.

23 and the house of Joseph causes [men] to spy out Beth-El (and the name of the city [was] formerly Luz),

௨௩யோசேப்பின் குடும்பத்தினர் பெத்தேலை வேவுபார்க்க ஆட்களை அனுப்பினார்கள்; முன்னே அந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்கு லூஸ் என்று பெயர்.

24 and the watchers see a man coming out from the city, and say to him, “Please show us the entrance of the city, and we have done kindness with you.”

௨௪அந்த வேவுகாரர்கள் பட்டணத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுவருகிற ஒரு மனிதனைக் கண்டு: பட்டணத்திற்குள் நுழையும் வழியை எங்களுக்குக் காண்பி, உனக்குத் தயைசெய்வோம் என்றார்கள்.

25 And he shows them the entrance of the city, and they strike the city by the mouth of the sword, and they have sent the man and all his family away;

௨௫அப்படியே பட்டணத்திற்குள் நுழையும் வழியை அவர்களுக்குக் காண்பித்தான்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் வந்து, பட்டணத்தில் உள்ளவர்களைக் கூர்மையான பட்டயத்தினால் வெட்டி, அந்த மனிதனையும் அவனுடைய குடும்பத்தையும் விட்டுவிட்டார்கள்.

26 and the man goes to the land of the Hittites, and builds a city, and calls its name Luz—it [is] its name to this day.

௨௬அப்பொழுது அந்த மனிதன் ஏத்தியர்களின் தேசத்திற்குப் போய், ஒரு பட்டணத்தைக் கட்டி, அதற்கு லூஸ் என்று பெயரிட்டான்; அதுதான் இந்த நாள்வரை அதினுடைய பெயர்.

27 And Manasseh has not occupied Beth-Shean and its towns, and Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, and the inhabitants of Iblaim and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns, and the Canaanite is desirous to dwell in that land;

௨௭மனாசே கோத்திரத்தார்கள் பெத்செயான் பட்டணத்தார்களையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த ஊர்களின் மனிதர்களையும், தானாக் பட்டணத்தார்களையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த ஊர்களின் மனிதர்களையும், தோரில் குடியிருப்பவர்களையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த ஊர்களின் மனிதர்களையும், இப்லேயாம் பட்டணத்தார்களையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த ஊர்களின் மனிதர்களையும், மெகிதோவில் குடியிருப்பவர்களையும் அதற்கு அடுத்த ஊர்களின் மனிதர்களையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை; கானானியர்கள் அந்த தேசத்தில்தான் குடியிருக்கவேண்டும் என்றிருந்தார்கள்.

28 and it comes to pass, when Israel has been strong, that he sets the Canaanite to forced labor, and has not utterly dispossessed it.

௨௮இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் பலத்தபோது, கானானியர்களை முழுவதும் துரத்திவிடாமல் அவர்களை கட்டாயப்படுத்தி கடினமாக வேலை செய்யவைத்தார்கள்.

29 And Ephraim has not dispossessed the Canaanite who is dwelling in Gezer, and the Canaanite dwells in its midst, in Gezer.

௨௯எப்பிராயீம் கோத்திரத்தார்கள், கேசேரிலே குடியிருந்த கானானியர்களையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை; ஆகவே, கானானியர்கள் அவர்களோடு குடியிருந்தார்கள்.

30 Zebulun has not dispossessed the inhabitants of Kitron, and the inhabitants of Nahalol, and the Canaanite dwells in its midst, and they become forced labor.

௩0செபுலோன் கோத்திரத்தார்கள், கித்ரோனில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களையும், நாகலோலில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை. ஆகவே, கானானியர்கள், அவர்களோடு குடியிருந்து, கடினமாக வேலை செய்வதற்குக் கட்டாயப்படுத்தப்பட்டார்கள்.

31 Asher has not dispossessed the inhabitants of Accho, and the inhabitants of Sidon, and Ahlab, and Achzib, and Helbah, and Aphik, and Rehob;

௩௧ஆசேர் கோத்திரத்தார்கள், அக்கோவில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களையும், சீதோனில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களையும், அக்லாப், அக்சீப், எல்பா, ஆப்பீக், ரேகோப் பட்டணங்களில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களையும் துரத்திவிடவில்லை.

32 and the Asherite dwells in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land, for it has not dispossessed them.

௩௨ஆசேரியர்கள், தேசத்தில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களாகிய கானானியர்களோடு குடியிருந்தார்கள்; அவர்களை அவர்கள் துரத்திவிடவில்லை.

33 Naphtali has not dispossessed the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh, and the inhabitants of Beth-Anath, and he dwells in the midst of the Canaanite, the inhabitants of the land; and the inhabitants of Beth-Shemesh and of Beth-Anath were for forced labor for them.

௩௩நப்தலி கோத்திரத்தார்கள், பெத்ஷிமேசில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களையும், பெத்தானாத்தில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களையும் துரத்திவிடாமல், தேசத்தில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களாகிய கானானியர்களோடு குடியிருந்தார்கள்; பெத்ஷிமேஸ், பெத்தானாத் பட்டணங்களில் குடியிருக்கிறவர்களும் அவர்களுக்கு கடினமாக வேலை செய்வதற்குக் கட்டாயப்படுத்தப்பட்டார்கள்.

34 And the Amorites press the sons of Dan to the mountain, for they have not permitted them to go down to the valley;

௩௪எமோரியர்கள் தாண் கோத்திரத்தார்களைப் பள்ளத்தாக்கில் இறங்கவிடாமல், மலைத்தேசத்திற்குப் போகும்படிக் கட்டாயப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

35 and the Amorite is desirous to dwell in Mount Heres, in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and the hand of the house of Joseph is heavy, and they are for forced labor;

௩௫எமோரியர்கள் ஏரேஸ் மலைகளிலும், ஆயலோனிலும், சால்பீமிலும் குடியிருக்கவேண்டும் என்றிருந்தார்கள்; ஆனாலும் யோசேப்பின் குடும்பத்தார்களின் பலம் பெருகினபடியால், அவர்களுக்கு கடினமாக வேலை செய்வதற்குக் கட்டாயப்படுத்தப்பட்டார்கள்.

36 and the border of the Amorite [is] from the ascent of Akrabbim, from the rock and upward.

௩௬எமோரியர்களின் எல்லை அக்கராபீமுக்குப் போகிற மேடு துவங்கி அதற்கு அப்புறமும் போனது.
