< Joshua 4 >

1 And it comes to pass, when all the nation has completed to pass over the Jordan, that YHWH speaks to Joshua, saying,
Nígbà tí gbogbo orílẹ̀-èdè náà kọjá nínú odò Jordani tan, Olúwa sọ fún Joṣua pé,
2 “Take for yourselves twelve men out of the people, one man—one man out of a tribe;
“Yan ọkùnrin méjìlá nínú àwọn ènìyàn, ẹnìkan nínú ẹ̀yà kọ̀ọ̀kan,
3 and command them, saying, Take up for yourselves from this [place], from the midst of the Jordan, from the established standing-place of the feet of the priests, twelve stones, and you have removed them over with you, and placed them in the lodging-place in which you lodge tonight.”
kí o sì pàṣẹ fún wọn pé, ‘Ẹ gbé òkúta méjìlá láti àárín odò Jordani ní ibi tí àwọn àlùfáà dúró sí, kí ẹ sì rù wọn kọjá, kí ẹ sì gbé wọn sí ibi tí ẹ̀yin yóò sùn ní alẹ́ yìí.’”
4 And Joshua calls to the twelve men whom he prepared out of the sons of Israel, one man—one man out of a tribe;
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Joṣua pe àwọn ọkùnrin méjìlá tí ó ti yàn nínú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, ẹnìkan nínú ẹ̀yà kọ̀ọ̀kan,
5 and Joshua says to them, “Pass over before the Ark of your God YHWH into the midst of the Jordan, and each of you lift up one stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel,
ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ kọjá lọ ní iwájú àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín sí àárín odò Jordani. Kí olúkúlùkù yín gbé òkúta kọ̀ọ̀kan lé èjìká a rẹ̀, gẹ́gẹ́ bí iye ẹ̀yà àwọn ọmọ Israẹli,
6 so that this is a sign in your midst when your children ask hereafter, saying, What [are] these stones to you?
kí ó sì jẹ́ àmì láàrín yín. Ní ọjọ́ iwájú, nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ yín bá béèrè lọ́wọ́ yín pé, ‘Kí ni òkúta wọ̀nyí dúró fún?’
7 That you have said to them, Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off, at the presence of the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH; in its passing over into the Jordan the waters of the Jordan were cut off; and these stones have been for a memorial to the sons of Israel for all time.”
Nígbà náà ni ẹ̀yin yóò dá wọn lóhùn pé, nítorí a gé omi odò Jordani kúrò ní iwájú àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa. Nígbà tí a rékọjá a Jordani, a gé omi Jordani kúrò. Àwọn òkúta wọ̀nyí yóò sì jẹ́ ìrántí fún àwọn ọmọ Israẹli láéláé.”
8 And the sons of Israel do so as Joshua commanded, and take up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as YHWH has spoken to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel, and remove them over with them to the lodging-place, and place them there,
Báyìí ni àwọn ọmọ Israẹli sì ṣe bí Joṣua ti pàṣẹ fún wọn. Wọ́n gbé òkúta méjìlá láti àárín odò Jordani gẹ́gẹ́ bí iye ẹ̀yà àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, bí Olúwa ti sọ fún Joṣua; wọ́n sì rù wọ́n kọjá lọ sí ibùdó, ní ibi tí wọ́n ti gbé wọn kalẹ̀.
9 even the twelve stones Joshua has raised up out of the midst of the Jordan, the place of the standing of the feet of the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant, and they are there to this day.
Joṣua sì to òkúta méjìlá náà sí àárín odò Jordani fún ìrántí ní ọ̀kánkán ibi tí àwọn àlùfáà tí ó ru àpótí ẹ̀rí dúró sí. Wọ́n sì wà níbẹ̀ di òní yìí.
10 And the priests carrying the Ark are standing in the midst of the Jordan until the completion of the whole thing which YHWH commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua, and the people hurry and pass over.
Àwọn àlùfáà tí ó ru àpótí náà dúró ní àárín Jordani títí gbogbo nǹkan tí Olúwa pàṣẹ fún Joṣua fi di ṣíṣe nípasẹ̀ àwọn ènìyàn, gẹ́gẹ́ bí Mose ti pàṣẹ fún Joṣua. Àwọn ènìyàn náà sì yára kọjá,
11 And it comes to pass, when all the people have completed to pass over, that the Ark of YHWH passes over, and the priests, in the presence of the people;
bí gbogbo wọn sì ti rékọjá tán, ni àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa àti àwọn àlùfáà wá sí òdìkejì. Bí àwọn ènìyàn sì ti ń wò wọ́n.
12 and the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, pass over, by fifties, before the sons of Israel, as Moses had spoken to them;
Àwọn ọkùnrin Reubeni, Gadi àti ìdajì ẹ̀yà Manase náà sì rékọjá ní ìhámọ́ra ogun níwájú àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, gẹ́gẹ́ bí Mose ti pàṣẹ fún wọn.
13 about forty thousand, armed ones of the host, passed over before YHWH for battle, to the plains of Jericho.
Àwọn bí ọ̀kẹ́ méjì tó ti múra fún ogun rékọjá lọ ní iwájú Olúwa sí pẹ̀tẹ́lẹ̀ Jeriko láti jagun.
14 On that day YHWH has made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel, and they fear him, as they feared Moses, all [the] days of his life.
Ní ọjọ́ náà ni Olúwa gbé Joṣua ga ní ojú gbogbo àwọn ọmọ Israẹli, wọ́n sì bẹ̀rù u rẹ̀ ní gbogbo ọjọ́ ayé e wọn, gẹ́gẹ́ bí wọ́n ti bẹ̀rù Mose.
15 And YHWH speaks to Joshua, saying,
Olúwa sì sọ fún Joṣua pé,
16 “Command the priests carrying the Ark of the Testimony, and they come up out of the Jordan.”
“Pàṣẹ fún àwọn àlùfáà tí o ń ru àpótí ẹ̀rí, kí wọn kí ó jáde kúrò nínú odò Jordani.”
17 And Joshua commands the priests, saying, “Come up out of the Jordan.”
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni Joṣua pàṣẹ fún àwọn àlùfáà pé, “Ẹ jáde kúrò nínú odò Jordani.”
18 And it comes to pass, in the coming up of the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH out of the midst of the Jordan—the soles of the feet of the priests have been drawn up into the dry ground—and the waters of the Jordan return to their place, and go over all its banks as before.
Àwọn àlùfáà náà jáde láti inú odò pẹ̀lú àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa ni orí wọn. Bí wọ́n ti fi ẹsẹ̀ ẹ wọn tẹ orí ilẹ̀ gbígbẹ ni omi Jordani náà padà sí ààyè e rẹ̀, o sì kún wọ bèbè bí i ti àtẹ̀yìnwá.
19 And the people have come up out of the Jordan on the tenth of the first month, and encamp in Gilgal, in the extremity east of Jericho;
Ní ọjọ́ kẹwàá oṣù kìn-ín-ní àwọn ènìyàn náà lọ láti Jordani, wọ́n sì dúró ní Gilgali ní ìlà-oòrùn Jeriko.
20 and these twelve stones, which they have taken out of the Jordan, Joshua has raised up in Gilgal.
Joṣua sì to àwọn òkúta méjìlá tí wọ́n mú jáde ní Jordani jọ ní Gilgali.
21 And he speaks to the sons of Israel, saying, “When your sons ask their fathers hereafter, saying, What [are] these stones?
Ó sì sọ fún àwọn ará Israẹli, “Ní ọjọ́ iwájú nígbà tí àwọn ọmọ yín bá béèrè ní ọwọ́ baba wọn pé, ‘Kín ni òkúta wọ̀nyí dúró fún?’
22 Then you have caused your sons to know, saying, Israel passed over this Jordan on dry land;
Nígbà náà ni ẹ ó jẹ́ kí àwọn ọmọ yín mọ̀ pé, ‘Israẹli rékọjá odò Jordani ní orí ilẹ̀ gbígbẹ.’
23 because your God YHWH dried up the waters of the Jordan at your presence, until your passing over, as your God YHWH did to the Red Sea which He dried up at our presence until our passing over;
Nítorí Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín mú Jordani gbẹ ní iwájú u yín títí ẹ̀yin fi kọjá. Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ti ṣe sí Jordani gẹ́gẹ́ bí ó ti ṣe sí Òkun Pupa, nígbà tí ó mú un gbẹ ní iwájú wa títí àwa fi kọjá.
24 so that all the people of the land know the hand of YHWH—that it [is] strong, so that you have feared your God YHWH [for] all the days.”
Ó ṣe èyí kí gbogbo ayé lè mọ̀ pé ọwọ́ Olúwa ní agbára, àti kí ẹ̀yin kí ó lè máa bẹ̀rù Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín ní ìgbà gbogbo.”
