< Joshua 4 >

1 And it comes to pass, when all the nation has completed to pass over the Jordan, that YHWH speaks to Joshua, saying,
Kaminawk boih Jordan vapui angkat o pacoengah, Angraeng mah Joshua khaeah,
2 “Take for yourselves twelve men out of the people, one man—one man out of a tribe;
kaminawk salak hoi kami hatlai hnetto, acaeng maeto thung hoi kami maeto qoih pacoengah,
3 and command them, saying, Take up for yourselves from this [place], from the midst of the Jordan, from the established standing-place of the feet of the priests, twelve stones, and you have removed them over with you, and placed them in the lodging-place in which you lodge tonight.”
Jordan vapui um qaimanawk angdoethaih ahmuen ih, thlung hatlai hnetto to la oh loe apu oh; vaiqum na iih o haih ahmuen ah to thlungnawk to suem oh, tiah a naa.
4 And Joshua calls to the twelve men whom he prepared out of the sons of Israel, one man—one man out of a tribe;
To pongah Joshua mah Israel kaminawk ih acaeng maeto thung hoiah kami maeto kawk moe,
5 and Joshua says to them, “Pass over before the Ark of your God YHWH into the midst of the Jordan, and each of you lift up one stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel,
nihcae khaeah, Na Angraeng Sithaw thingkhong ih ahmaa, Jordan vapui um ah caeh oh loe, Israel acaeng zetto ah kami maeto mah thlung maeto apu oh;
6 so that this is a sign in your midst when your children ask hereafter, saying, What [are] these stones to you?
to thlung loe nangcae salakah angmathaih ah om tih; hmabang ah na caanawk mah, Hae thlung loe tih thuikoehhaih ih aa? tiah na dueng o nahaeloe,
7 That you have said to them, Because the waters of the Jordan were cut off, at the presence of the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH; in its passing over into the Jordan the waters of the Jordan were cut off; and these stones have been for a memorial to the sons of Israel for all time.”
nangcae mah nihcae khaeah, Angraeng lokkamhaih thingkhong Jordan vapui angkat naah, a hmaa ah Jordan vapui tui to apet; Jordan vapui apet ving pongah, hae loe Israel kaminawk hanah dungzan panoek poehaih thlung ah om tih, tiah thui pae oh, tiah a naa.
8 And the sons of Israel do so as Joshua commanded, and take up twelve stones out of the midst of the Jordan, as YHWH has spoken to Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Israel, and remove them over with them to the lodging-place, and place them there,
Joshua mah paek ih lok baktih toengah Israel kaminawk mah sak o; Angraeng mah Joshua khaeah thuih pae ih lok baktih toengah, Israel acaengnawk zetto ah, Jordan vapui um ah thlung hatlai hnetto akhuih o; to thlung to angmacae ohhaih ahmuen ah sinh o moe, to ah a suek o.
9 even the twelve stones Joshua has raised up out of the midst of the Jordan, the place of the standing of the feet of the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant, and they are there to this day.
Joshua mah lokkamhaih thingkhong apu qaimanawk angdoethaih ahmuen Jordan vapui um ah, thlung hatlai hnetto a tlingh; to thlung loe vaihni ni khoek to oh.
10 And the priests carrying the Ark are standing in the midst of the Jordan until the completion of the whole thing which YHWH commanded Joshua to speak to the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua, and the people hurry and pass over.
Angraeng mah Joshua khaeah paek ih lok baktih, Mosi mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, kaminawk mah sah o boih ai karoek to, Angraeng lokkamhaih thingkhong apu qaimanawk loe Jordan vapui um ah angdoet o, to naah kaminawk loe karangah angkat o.
11 And it comes to pass, when all the people have completed to pass over, that the Ark of YHWH passes over, and the priests, in the presence of the people;
Kaminawk angkat o boih pacoengah, Angraeng lokkamhaih thingkhong hoi qaimanawk loe, kaminawk mikhnuk ah nawnto angkat o.
12 and the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half of the tribe of Manasseh, pass over, by fifties, before the sons of Israel, as Moses had spoken to them;
Mosi mah nihcae khaeah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, Reuben acaeng, Gad acaeng hoi ahap Manasseh acaengnawk loe, maiphaw maica to sin o moe, Israel kaminawk hmaa ah angkat o.
13 about forty thousand, armed ones of the host, passed over before YHWH for battle, to the plains of Jericho.
To tiah misatuk han caeh kaminawk loe, kami sang quipalito oh o moe, misatuk han Angraeng hmaa ah Jeriko azawn bangah angkat o.
14 On that day YHWH has made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel, and they fear him, as they feared Moses, all [the] days of his life.
To na niah Israel kaminawk mikhnuk ah Angraeng mah Joshua to tapom tahang; nihcae mah Mosi zit o baktih toengah, hing thung Joshua doeh a zit o.
15 And YHWH speaks to Joshua, saying,
To naah Angraeng mah Joshua khaeah,
16 “Command the priests carrying the Ark of the Testimony, and they come up out of the Jordan.”
hnukung ah kaom thingkhong apu qaimanawk to, Jordan vapui hoi angzoh tahang han lokpaek ah, tiah a naa.
17 And Joshua commands the priests, saying, “Come up out of the Jordan.”
To pongah Joshua mah qaimanawk khaeah, Jordan vapui thung hoi angzo o tahang ah, tiah a naa.
18 And it comes to pass, in the coming up of the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant of YHWH out of the midst of the Jordan—the soles of the feet of the priests have been drawn up into the dry ground—and the waters of the Jordan return to their place, and go over all its banks as before.
Angraeng lokkamhaih thingkhong apu qaimanawk vapui thung hoi angzoh o tahang moe, tuicing to khok hoi a cawh o naah, Jordan vapui to angmah ih ahmuen ah amlaem let moe, canghni ah longh baktiah a longh let.
19 And the people have come up out of the Jordan on the tenth of the first month, and encamp in Gilgal, in the extremity east of Jericho;
Khrah tangsuek ni hatlai hnetto naah, Jeriko ni angyae bang ramri ah kaom, Gilgal ah atai o.
20 and these twelve stones, which they have taken out of the Jordan, Joshua has raised up in Gilgal.
To naah Jordan vapui thung hoi akhuih o ih thlung hatlai hnetto to, Joshua mah Gilgal ah tlingh.
21 And he speaks to the sons of Israel, saying, “When your sons ask their fathers hereafter, saying, What [are] these stones?
Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Israel kaminawk khaeah, Hmabang ah na caanawk mah ampanawk khaeah, Hae ih thlungnawk loe tih thuikoehhaih ih aa? tiah dueng o nahaeloe,
22 Then you have caused your sons to know, saying, Israel passed over this Jordan on dry land;
Israel kaminawk loe hae Jordan vapui hae saoeng ah caeh baktih toengah angkat o, tiah thui pae oh.
23 because your God YHWH dried up the waters of the Jordan at your presence, until your passing over, as your God YHWH did to the Red Sea which He dried up at our presence until our passing over;
Aicae mah tuipui kathim angkat o boih ai karoek to, na Angraeng Sithaw mah aicae hmaa ah tuipui kathim tui to kaangsak baktih toengah, Jordan vapui nang kat o boih ai karoek to, na Angraeng Sithaw mah nangcae hmaa ah Jordan vapui tui to kaangsak.
24 so that all the people of the land know the hand of YHWH—that it [is] strong, so that you have feared your God YHWH [for] all the days.”
Angraeng ih ban loe thacak, tiah long kaminawk boih mah panoek o moe, na Angraeng Sithaw to dungzan khoek to na zit o thai han ih ni, hae tiah a sak, tiah a naa.
