Joshua 20
1 And YHWH speaks to Joshua, saying,
E falou o SENHOR a Josué, dizendo:
2 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, Give cities of refuge for yourselves, as I have spoken to you by the hand of Moses,
Fala aos filhos de Israel, dizendo: Assinalai-vos as cidades de refúgio, das quais eu vos falei por Moisés;
3 for the fleeing there of a manslayer striking life through ignorance, without knowledge; and they have been for a refuge to you from the redeemer of blood.
Para que se acolha ali o homicida que matar a alguém por acidente e não de propósito; que vos sejam por refúgio do vingador do morto.
4 When [one] has fled to one of these cities, and has stood [at] the opening of the gate of the city, and has spoken his matter in the ears of [the] elderly of that city, then they have gathered him into the city to them, and have given a place to him, and he has dwelt with them.
E o que se refugiar a alguma daquelas cidades se apresentará à porta da cidade, e dirá suas causas, ouvindo-o os anciãos daquela cidade: e eles o receberão consigo dentro da cidade, e lhe darão lugar que habite com eles.
5 And when the redeemer of blood pursues after him, then they do not shut up the manslayer into his hand, for he has struck his neighbor without knowledge, and is not hating him until now;
E quando o vingador do morto o seguir, não entregarão em sua mão ao homicida, porquanto feriu a seu próximo por acidente, nem teve com ele antes inimizade.
6 and he has dwelt in that city until his standing before the congregation for judgment, until the death of the chief priest who is in those days—then the manslayer turns back and has come to his city, and to his house, to the city from where he fled.”
E ficará naquela cidade até que compareça em juízo diante do ajuntamento, até a morte do grande sacerdote que for naquele tempo: então o homicida voltará e virá à sua cidade e à sua casa e à cidade de onde fugiu.
7 And they sanctify Kedesh in Galilee, in the hill-country of Naphtali, and Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim, and Kirjath-Arba (it [is] Hebron), in the hill-country of Judah;
Então assinalaram a Quedes na Galileia, no monte de Naftali, e a Siquém no monte de Efraim, e a Quiriate-Arba, que é Hebrom, no monte de Judá.
8 and beyond the Jordan, [at] Jericho eastward, they have given Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain, out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
E da outra parte do Jordão de Jericó, ao oriente, assinalaram a Bezer no deserto, na planície da tribo de Rúben, e a Ramote em Gileade da tribo de Gade, e a Golã em Basã da tribo de Manassés.
9 These have been cities of meeting for all the sons of Israel, and for a sojourner who is sojourning in their midst, for the fleeing there of anyone striking life through ignorance, and he does not die by the hand of the redeemer of blood until his standing before the congregation.
Estas foram as cidades assinaladas para todos os filhos de Israel, e para o estrangeiro que morasse entre eles, para que se acolhesse a elas qualquer um que ferisse pessoa por acidente, e não morresse por meio do vingador do morto, até que comparecesse diante do ajuntamento.
