Joshua 14
1 And these [are] they of the sons of Israel who inherited in the land of Canaan, whom Eleazar the priest, and Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel, caused to inherit;
Estas son las herencias que los hijos de Israel tomaron en la tierra de Canaán, y que el sacerdote Eleazar, Josué hijo de Nun, y los jefes de las casas paternas de las tribus de los hijos de Israel, les repartieron,
2 their inheritance [is] by lot, as YHWH commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes and the half-tribe;
por la suerte de su herencia, como Yahvé lo mandó por medio de Moisés, para las nueve tribus y para la media tribu.
3 for Moses has given the inheritance of two of the tribes, and of half of the tribe, beyond the Jordan, and he has not given an inheritance to the Levites in their midst;
Porque Moisés había dado la herencia de las dos tribus y de la media tribu al otro lado del Jordán; pero a los levitas no les dio herencia entre ellos.
4 for the sons of Joseph have been two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim, and they have not given a portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, and their outskirts for their livestock, and for their possessions;
Porque los hijos de José eran dos tribus, Manasés y Efraín. A los levitas no les dio ninguna porción en la tierra, excepto ciudades para habitar, con sus tierras de pastoreo para su ganado y para sus propiedades.
5 as YHWH commanded Moses, so the sons of Israel have done, and they apportion the land.
Los hijos de Israel hicieron lo que Yahvé ordenó a Moisés, y repartieron la tierra.
6 And the sons of Judah come near to Joshua in Gilgal, and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite says to him, “You have known the word that YHWH has spoken to Moses, the man of God, concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh-Barnea:
Entonces los hijos de Judá se acercaron a Josué en Gilgal. Caleb, hijo de Jefone cenecista, le dijo: “Tú sabes lo que Yahvé habló a Moisés, el hombre de Dios, acerca de mí y de ti en Cades Barnea.
7 I [was] a son of forty years in Moses, servant of YHWH, sending me from Kadesh-Barnea, to spy out the land, and I bring him back word as with my heart;
Yo tenía cuarenta años cuando Moisés, el siervo de Yahvé, me envió desde Cades Barnea a espiar la tierra. Le llevé la noticia tal como estaba en mi corazón.
8 and my brothers who have gone up with me have caused the heart of the people to melt, and I have been fully after my God YHWH;
Sin embargo, mis hermanos que subieron conmigo hicieron que el corazón del pueblo se derritiera; pero yo seguí totalmente a Yahvé, mi Dios.
9 and Moses swears in that day, saying, Nevertheless—the land on which your foot has trodden, it is to you for an inheritance, and to your sons—for all time, for you have been fully after my God YHWH.
Aquel día Moisés juró diciendo: ‘Ciertamente la tierra por la que has caminado será una herencia para ti y para tus hijos para siempre, porque has seguido enteramente a Yahvé mi Dios’.
10 And now, behold, YHWH has kept me alive, as He has spoken, these forty-five years, since YHWH spoke this word to Moses when Israel went in the wilderness; and now, behold, I [am] a son of eighty-five years today;
“Ahora bien, he aquí que el Señor me ha mantenido con vida, tal como habló, estos cuarenta y cinco años, desde el momento en que el Señor habló esta palabra a Moisés, mientras Israel caminaba por el desierto. Hoy tengo ochenta y cinco años.
11 yet today I [am] strong as in the day of Moses’ sending me; as my power [was] then, so [is] my power now, for battle, and to go out, and to come in.
Pero hoy soy tan fuerte como el día en que Moisés me envió. Como era mi fuerza entonces, así es ahora mi fuerza para la guerra, para salir y para entrar.
12 And now, give this hill-country to me, of which YHWH spoke in that day, for you heard in that day, for Anakim [are] there, and great, fortified cities; if [it] so be [that] YHWH [is] with me, then I have dispossessed them, as YHWH has spoken.”
Ahora, pues, dame esta región montañosa, de la cual habló el Señor en aquel día; porque tú oíste en aquel día cómo estaban allí los anakim, y ciudades grandes y fortificadas. Puede ser que Yahvé esté conmigo y los expulse, como dijo Yahvé”.
13 And Joshua blesses him, and gives Hebron to Caleb son of Jephunneh for an inheritance,
Josué lo bendijo, y le dio Hebrón a Caleb, hijo de Jefone, como herencia.
14 therefore Hebron has been to Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenezzite for an inheritance to this day, because that he was fully after YHWH, God of Israel;
Por lo tanto, Hebrón pasó a ser la herencia de Caleb, hijo de Jefone, el cenecista, hasta el día de hoy, porque siguió a Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, de todo corazón.
15 and the name of Hebron [was] formerly Kirjath-Arba (the man [was] the greatest among the Anakim); and the land has rest from war.
Antes el nombre de Hebrón era Quiriat Arba, en honor al hombre más grande de los anakim. Entonces la tierra descansó de la guerra.
