Joshua 11
1 And it comes to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor hears, that he sends to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
Da Kong Jabin af Hazor hørte herom sendte han Bud til Kong Jobab af Madon og Kongerne af Sjimron og Aksjaf
2 and to the kings who [are] on the north in the hill-country, and in the plain south of Chinneroth, and in the low country, and in the elevations of Dor, on the west,
og til Kongerne nordpaa i Bjergene, i Arabalavningen sønden for Kinnerot, i Lavlandet og paa Højdedraget vestpaa ved Dor,
3 [to] the Canaanite on the east, and on the west, and the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the hill-country, and the Hivite under Hermon, in the land of Mizpeh—
til Kana'anæerne i Øst og Vest, Amoriterne, Hivviterne, Perizziterne og Jebusiterne i Bjergene og Hetiterne ved Foden af Hermon i Mizpas Land;
4 and they go out, they and all their camps with them, a people numerous, as the sand which [is] on the seashore for multitude, and [with] very many horse and charioteer;
og de drog ud med alle deres Hære, Krigsfolk talrige som Sandet ved Havets Bred, og med en stor Mængde Heste og Stridsvogne.
5 and all these kings are met together, and they come and encamp together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.
Alle disse Konger slog sig sammen og kom og lejrede sig i Forening ved Meroms Vand for at angribe Israel.
6 And YHWH says to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of their presence, for about this time tomorrow I am giving all of them slain before Israel; hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.”
Men HERREN sagde til Josua: »Frygt ikke for dem! Thi i Morgen ved denne Tid vil jeg lade dem ligge faldne foran Israel; deres Heste skal du lamme, og deres Vogne skal du brænde!«
7 And Joshua comes, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom, and they suddenly fall on them;
Da kom Josua med hele Hæren uventet over dem ved Meroms Vand og kastede sig over dem,
8 and YHWH gives them into the hand of Israel, and they strike them and pursue them to the great Sidon, and to Misrephoth-Maim, and to the Valley of Mizpeh eastward, and they strike them, until he has not left a remnant to them;
og HERREN gav dem i Israels Haand, saa de slog dem og forfulgte dem til den store Stad Zidon, til Misrefot-Majim og Mizpes Lavning i Øst, og huggede dem ned, saa ikke en eneste af dem blev tilbage.
9 and Joshua does to them as YHWH commanded to him; he has hamstrung their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.
Josua gjorde derpaa med dem, som HERREN havde sagt ham; deres Heste lammede han, og deres Vogne brændte han.
10 And Joshua turns back at that time, and captures Hazor, and he has struck its king by the sword; for Hazor [was] formerly head of all these kingdoms;
Ved den Tid vendte Josua om og indtog Hazor, og Kongen huggede han ned med Sværdet; Hazor var nemlig fordum alle disse Kongerigers Hovedstad;
11 and they strike every person who [is] in it by the mouth of the sword; he has devoted—he has not left anyone breathing, and he has burned Hazor with fire;
og de huggede hver levende Sjæl i den ned med Sværdet og lagde Band paa dem, saa ikke en levende Sjæl blev tilbage; og Hazor stak han i Brand.
12 and all the cities of these kings, and all their kings, Joshua has captured, and he strikes them by the mouth of the sword; he devoted them, as Moses, servant of YHWH, commanded.
Alle hine Kongsbyer med deres Konger undertvang Josua, og han huggede dem ned med Sværdet og lagde Band paa dem, som HERRENS Tjener Moses havde paabudt.
13 Only, all the cities which are standing by their hill, Israel has not burned them—except Joshua has burned Hazor, only;
Men ingen af de Byer, som laa paa deres Høje, stak Israel i Brand, alene med Undtagelse af Hazor; den stak Josua i Brand.
14 and all the spoil of these cities, and the livestock, the sons of Israel have spoiled for themselves; only, they have struck every man by the mouth of the sword, until their destroying them; they have not left anyone breathing.
Kvæget og alt det andet, der røvedes fra disse Byer, beholdt Israeliterne som Bytte; men alle Menneskene huggede de ned med Sværdet til sidste Mand uden at lade en eneste levende Sjæl blive tilbage.
15 As YHWH commanded His servant Moses, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua has done; he has not turned aside a thing of all that YHWH commanded Moses.
Hvad HERREN havde paalagt sin Tjener Moses, havde Moses paalagt Josua, og det gjorde Josua; han undlod intet som helst af, hvad HERREN havde paalagt Moses.
16 And Joshua takes all this land: the hill-country, and all the south, and all the land of Goshen, and the low country, and the plain, even the hill-country of Israel and its low lands,
Saaledes indtog Josua hele dette Land, Bjerglandet, hele Sydlandet, hele Landskabet Gosjen, Lavlandet, Arabalavningen, Israels Bjergland og Lavland,
17 from the Mount of Halak, which is going up [to] Seir, and to Ba‘al-Gad, in the Valley of Lebanon, under Mount Hermon; and he has captured all their kings, and he strikes them, and puts them to death.
fra det nøgne Bjergdrag, som højner sig hen imod Se'ir, indtil Ba'al-Gad i Libanons Dal ved Hermonbjergets Fod; og alle deres Konger tog han til Fange, huggede dem ned og dræbte dem.
18 Joshua has made war with all these kings [for] many days;

19 there has not been a city which made peace with the sons of Israel except the Hivite, inhabitants of Gibeon; they have taken the whole in battle;

20 for it has been from YHWH to strengthen their heart, to meet in battle with Israel, in order to devote them, so that they have no grace, but in order to destroy them, as YHWH commanded Moses.
thi HERREN voldte, at de forhærdede deres Hjerter, saa de drog i Kamp mod Israel, for at de skulde lægge Band paa dem uden Skaansel og udrydde dem, som HERREN havde paalagt Moses.
21 And Joshua comes at that time, and cuts off the Anakim from the hill-country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill-country of Judah, and from all the hill-country of Israel; Joshua has devoted them with their cities.
Ved den Tid drog Josua hen og udryddede Anakiterne af Bjerglandet, af Hebron, Debir og Anab, og af hele Judas og hele Israels Bjergland; paa dem og deres Byer lagde Josua Band.
22 There has not been Anakim left in the land of the sons of Israel; only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, were they left.
Der blev ingen Anakiter tilbage i Israeliternes Land, kun i Gaza, Gat og Asdod blev der Levninger tilbage.
23 And Joshua takes the whole of the land, according to all that YHWH has spoken to Moses, and Joshua gives it for an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions, by their tribes; and the land has rest from war.
Saaledes indtog Josua hele Landet, ganske som HERREN havde sagt til Moses, og Josua gav Israel det i Eje efter deres Afdelinger, Stamme for Stamme. Og Landet fik Ro efter Krigen.
