Joshua 1
1 And it comes to pass after the death of Moses, servant of YHWH, that YHWH speaks to Joshua son of Nun, minister of Moses, saying,
Sau khi Môi-se, đầy tớ của Chúa Hằng Hữu, qua đời, Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Giô-suê, con của Nun, người phụ tá của Môi-se:
2 “My servant Moses is dead, and now, rise, pass over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.
“Môi-se, đầy tớ Ta đã chết; bây giờ con đứng ra lãnh đạo dân tộc vượt Sông Giô-đan tiến vào đất hứa.
3 Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, as I have spoken to Moses.
Như Ta đã hứa với Môi-se, nơi nào con đặt chân đến, nơi ấy sẽ thuộc về người Ít-ra-ên,
4 From this wilderness and Lebanon, and to the great river, the Euphrates River, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea—the going in of the sun—is your border.
từ hoang mạc đến núi Li-ban, từ Biển Lớn chạy dài đến tận Sông Ơ-phơ-rát, kể cả lãnh thổ của dân tộc Hê-tít.
5 No man stations himself before you all [the] days of your life; as I have been with Moses, I am with you, I do not fail you, nor forsake you;
Suốt đời con, quân thù đều phải khuất phục. Như Ta đã từng ở với Môi-se, Ta cũng sẽ ở với con luôn, Ta sẽ không quên, và không lìa bỏ con đâu.
6 be strong and courageous, for you cause this people to inherit the land which I have sworn to their fathers to give to them.
Hãy can đảm, và bền chí; con sẽ thành công trong việc lãnh đạo dân tộc Ít-ra-ên chinh phục vùng đất Ta đã hứa cho tổ tiên họ.
7 Only, be strong and very courageous, to observe to do according to all the Law which Moses My servant commanded you; you do not turn aside from it right or left, so that you act wisely in every [place] to where you go;
Chỉ cần can đảm và bền chí, nghiêm chỉnh tuân hành tất cả điều luật mà Môi-se, đầy tớ Ta truyền lại, không tẽ tách chút nào, thì con sẽ thành công trong mọi việc.
8 the scroll of this Law does not depart out of your mouth, and you have meditated in it by day and by night, so that you observe to do according to all that is written in it, for then you cause your way to prosper, and then you act wisely.
Đừng xao lãng việc đọc Sách Luật này. Phải ngày đêm suy niệm và thận trọng tuân hành. Như vậy con mới thành công và được phước.
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous; do not be terrified nor frightened, for your God YHWH [is] with you in every [place] to where you go.”
Ta đã dạy con phải can đảm và bền chí, đừng sợ gì cả, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của con luôn luôn ở với con bất cứ nơi nào con đi.”
10 And Joshua commands the authorities of the people, saying,
Sau đó Giô-suê ra lệnh cho các cấp lãnh đạo:
11 “Pass over into the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, Prepare provision for yourselves, for within three days you are passing over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which your God YHWH is giving to you to possess it.”
“Hãy thông báo cho dân chúng chuẩn bị sẵn sàng! Trong ba ngày nữa chúng ta sẽ vượt Sông Giô-đan, tiến chiếm vùng đất Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta dành cho chúng ta.”
12 And to the Reubenite, and to the Gadite, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh, Joshua has spoken, saying,
Riêng với người thuộc đại tộc Ru-bên, đại tộc Gát, và phân nửa đại tộc Ma-na-se, Giô-suê nhắc lại lời của Môi-se, đầy tớ Chúa:
13 “Remember the word which Moses, servant of YHWH, commanded you, saying, Your God YHWH is giving rest to you, and He has given this land to you;
“Chúa Hằng Hữu đã cho anh em được an nghỉ và cũng ban cho phần đất bên này sông.
14 your wives, your infants, and your substance, abide in the land which Moses has given to you beyond the Jordan, and you pass over by fifties, before your brothers, all the mighty men of valor, and have helped them,
Vợ, con cái, và bầy súc vật của anh em sẽ ở lại trong đất mà Môi-se ban cho anh em ở bên này sông Giô-đan. Còn tất cả anh em là người dũng cảm, được trang bị đầy đủ phải tiên phong vượt sông, chiến đấu cùng với các đại tộc khác.
15 until YHWH gives rest to your brothers as to yourselves, and they have possessed, even they, the land which your God YHWH is giving to them; then you have turned back to the land of your possession, and have possessed it, which Moses, servant of YHWH, has given to you beyond the Jordan, [at] the sun-rising.”
Anh em chỉ trở về đất mình ở bên bờ phía đông Sông Giô-đan do Môi-se, đầy tớ Chúa cấp cho, khi nào các đại tộc kia hoàn tất cuộc chiếm hữu đất đai.”
16 And they answer Joshua, saying, “All that you have commanded us we do; and to every [place] to where you send us, we go;
Họ thưa với Giô-suê: “Chúng tôi xin tuân theo mọi điều ông dạy bảo, đi bất cứ nơi nào ông sai.
17 according to all that we listened to [from] Moses, so we listen to you; surely your God YHWH is with you as He has been with Moses.
Chúng tôi sẽ vâng lời ông như đã vâng lời Môi-se. Cầu xin Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của ông ở cùng ông như Ngài đã ở cùng Môi-se trước kia.
18 Any man who provokes your mouth, and does not hear your words, in all that you command him, is put to death; only, be strong and courageous.”
Người nào cãi lệnh ông, người đó phải chết. Xin ông hãy can đảm và bền chí.”
