Jonah 3
1 And there is a word of YHWH to Jonah a second time, saying,
அதன்பின் இரண்டாம் முறையும் யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தை யோனாவுக்கு வந்தது:
2 “Rise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim to it the proclamation that I am speaking to you”;
“நீ பெரிய நகரமான நினிவேக்குப் போய், நான் உனக்குக் கொடுக்கும் செய்தியை அங்கே அறிவி” என்றார்.
3 and Jonah rises, and he goes to Nineveh, according to the word of YHWH. And Nineveh has been a great city before God, a journey of three days.
யோனா யெகோவாவின் வார்த்தைக்குக் கீழ்படிந்து நினிவேக்குப் போனான். நினிவே ஒரு மாபெரும் நகராயிருந்தது; அதைச் சுற்றி நடக்க மூன்று நாட்கள் எடுக்கும்.
4 And Jonah begins to go into the city—a journey of one day—and proclaims and says, “Yet forty days and Nineveh is overturned!”
முதலாம் நாள் யோனா பட்டணத்துக்குள்ளே நடக்கத்தொடங்கி, “நினிவே இன்னும் நாற்பது நாட்களில் கவிழ்க்கப்படும்” என அறிவித்தான்.
5 And the men of Nineveh believe in God, and proclaim a fast, and put on sackcloth, from their greatest even to their least,
நினிவேயின் மக்களோ இறைவனின் செய்தியை விசுவாசித்தார்கள். அவர்கள் எல்லோரும் உபவாச நாளை அறிவித்து சிறியோர்முதல் பெரியோர்வரை எல்லோரும் துக்கவுடை உடுத்திக்கொண்டார்கள்.
6 seeing the word comes to the king of Nineveh, and he rises from his throne, and removes his honorable robe from off him, and spreads out sackcloth, and sits on the ashes,
இந்தச் செய்தி நினிவேயின் அரசனுக்கு எட்டியவுடனே, அவன் தன் அரியணையைவிட்டு எழுந்து, தன் அரச உடையைக் களைந்து, துக்கவுடை உடுத்தி புழுதியில் உட்கார்ந்தான்.
7 and he cries and says in Nineveh by a decree of the king and his great ones, saying, “Man and beast, herd and flock—do not let them taste anything, do not let them feed, do not even let them drink water;
அதன்பின் அரசன் நினிவேயில் ஒரு அறிவிப்பைக் கொடுத்தான். “அரசனும், அவருடைய உயர்குடி மக்களும் பிறப்பித்த ஆணையாவது: “மனிதர் யாவரும், அத்துடன் மிருகமோ, மாட்டு மந்தையோ, ஆட்டு மந்தையோ எவையும் ஒன்றையும் சுவைத்துப் பார்க்கக்கூடாது. சாப்பிடவோ அல்லது தண்ணீர் குடிக்கவோ கூடாது.
8 and let man and beast cover themselves [with] sackcloth, and let them call to God mightily, and let them each turn back from his evil way, and from the violence that [is] in their hands.
மனிதரும் மிருகங்களும் துக்கவுடைகளினால் மூடப்படவேண்டும். ஒவ்வொருவரும் அவசரமாய் இறைவனைக் கூப்பிடட்டும். அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய தீமையான வழிகளையும் வன்முறையையும் விட்டுத் திரும்பட்டும்.
9 Who knows? He turns back, and God has relented, and has turned back from the heat of His anger, and we do not perish.”
யாருக்குத் தெரியும்? ஒருவேளை, நாம் அழிந்துபோகாதபடி இறைவன் மனமிரங்கி, கருணைகொண்டு, தம்முடைய கடுங்கோபத்தை விட்டு திரும்பக்கூடும்.”
10 And God sees their works, that they have turned back from their evil way, and God relents of the evil that He spoke of doing to them, and He has not done [it].
இறைவன் அவர்கள் செய்தவற்றையும், எப்படி அவர்கள் தங்கள் பொல்லாத வழிகளைவிட்டு விலகினார்கள் என்பதையும் கண்டார். அப்பொழுது அவர் கருணைகொண்டு, அவர்கள்மேல் கொண்டுவரப் பயமுறுத்திய அந்த அழிவை, அவர்கள்மேல் கொண்டுவரவில்லை.
