John 8
1 And at dawn He came again to the temple [courts],
耶穌上了橄欖山。
2 and all the people were coming to Him, and having sat down, He was teaching them;
清晨他又來到聖殿，眾百姓都到他跟前來，他便坐下教訓他們。
3 and the scribes and the Pharisees bring to Him a woman having been taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst,
那時，經師和法利賽人帶來了一個犯姦淫時被捉住的婦人，叫她站在中間，
4 they say to Him, “Teacher, this woman was taken in the very crime [of] committing adultery,
便向耶穌說：「師傅! 這婦人是正在犯姦淫時被捉住的，
5 and in the Law, Moses commanded us that such be stoned; You, therefore, what do You say?”
在法律上，梅瑟命令我們該用石頭砸死這樣的婦人；可是，你說什麼呢？」
6 And this they said, trying Him, that they might have to accuse Him. And Jesus, having stooped down, with the finger He was writing on the ground,
他們說這話，是要試探耶穌，好能控告他；耶穌卻彎下身去，用指頭在地上畫字。
7 and when they continued asking Him, having bent Himself back, He said to them, “The sinless of you—let him cast the first stone at her”;
因為他們不斷地追問，他便直起身來，向他們說：「你們中間誰沒有罪，先向她投石罷! 」
8 and again having stooped down, He was writing on the ground,
他又彎下身去，在地上寫字。
9 and they having heard, and being convicted by the conscience, were going forth one by one, having begun from the elders—to the last; and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
他們一聽這話，就從年老的開始到年幼的，一個一個地都溜走了，只留下耶穌一人和站在那裡的婦人。
10 And Jesus having bent Himself back, and having seen no one but the woman, said to her, “Woman, where are those—your accusers? Did no one pass sentence on you?”
耶穌遂直起身來向說: 「婦人！他們在那裏呢？沒有人定你的罪嗎？」
11 And she said, “No one, Lord”; and Jesus said to her, “Neither do I pass sentence on you; be going on, and sin no more.”]]
她說: 「主！沒有人。」耶穌向她說: 「我也不定你的罪；去罷! 從今以後，不要再犯罪了! 」
12 Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I AM the light of the world; he who is following Me will not walk in the darkness, but he will have the light of life.”
耶穌又向眾人講說: 「我是世界的光；跟隨我的，決不在黑暗中行走，必有生命的光。」
13 The Pharisees, therefore, said to Him, “You testify of Yourself, Your testimony is not true”;
法利賽於是對對他說: 「你為你自己作證，你的證據是不可憑信的。」
14 Jesus answered and said to them, “And if I testify of Myself—My testimony is true, because I have known from where I came, and to where I go, and you have not known from where I come, or to where I go.
耶穌回答說：「我即便為我自己作證，我的證據是可憑信的，因為我知道：我從那裏來，往那裏去；你們卻不知道: 我從那裏來，或往那裏去。
15 You judge according to the flesh; I do not judge anyone,
你們只憑肉眼判斷，我卻不判斷任何人；
16 and even if I do judge My judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who sent Me;
即使我判斷，我的判斷仍是真實的，因為我不是獨自一個，而是有我，還有派遣我來的父。
17 and also in your law it has been written that the testimony of two men is true;
在你們的法律上也記載著: 兩個人的作證是可憑信的。
18 I am [One] who is testifying of Myself, and the Father who sent Me testifies of Me.”
今有我為我自己作證，也有派遣我的父，為我作證。」
19 They said, therefore, to Him, “Where is Your father?” Jesus answered, “You have neither known Me nor My Father: if you had known Me, you had also known My Father.”
他們使問他說: 「你的父在那裏？」耶穌答覆說：「你們不認識我，也不認識我的父；若是你們認識了我，也就認識我的父了。」
20 Jesus spoke these sayings in the treasury, teaching in the temple, and no one seized Him, because His hour had not yet come;
這些話是耶穌於聖殿施教時，在銀庫院裏所講的。誰也沒有捉拿，因為的時辰還沒有到。
21 therefore Jesus said again to them, “I go away, and you will seek Me, and you will die in your sin; to where I go away, you are not able to come.”
那時，耶穌又向他們說：「我去了，你們要尋找我，你們必要死在你們的罪惡中；我所去的地方，你們不能去。」
22 The Jews, therefore, said, “Will He kill Himself, because He says, To where I go away, you are not able to come?”
猶太人便說: 「他說: 我所去的地方，你你們不能去；莫非他要自殺嗎？」
23 And He said to them, “You are from beneath, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world;
耶穌向他們說: 「你們是出於下，我卻是出於上；你們是出於這個世界，我卻不是出於這個世界。
24 I said, therefore, to you, that you will die in your sins, for if you may not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.”
因此，我對你們說過: 你但要死在你們的罪惡中。的確，你們若不相信我就是那一位，你們必要死在你們的罪惡中。」
25 They said, therefore, to Him, “You—who are You?” And Jesus said to them, “Even what I spoke of to you at the beginning;
於是，他們問耶穌說: 「你到底是誰？」耶穌回答他們說: 「難道從起初我沒有對你們講論過嗎？
26 many things I have to speak concerning you and to judge, but He who sent Me is true, and I—what things I heard from Him—these I say to the world.”
對你們我有許多事要說，要譴責；但是派遣我來者是真實的；我由他聽來的，我就講給世界聽。」
27 They did not know that He spoke to them of the Father;
們不明白他是在給他們講論父。
28 Jesus, therefore, said to them, “When you may lift up the Son of Man then you will know that I AM; and I do nothing of Myself, but according as My Father taught Me, these things I speak;
耶穌遂說: 「當你們高舉了人子以後，你們便知道我就是那一位。我由我自己不作什麼；我所講論的，都是依照父所教訓我的。
29 and He who sent Me is with Me; the Father did not leave Me alone, because I always do the things pleasing to Him.”
派遣我來者與我在一起，他沒有留下我獨自一個，因為我常作他所喜悅的事。」
30 As He is speaking these things, many believed in Him;
當耶穌講這些話時，許多人便信了他。
31 Jesus, therefore, said to the Jews who believed in Him, “If you may remain in My word, you are truly My disciples,
於是，耶穌對那些信他的猶太人說: 「你們如果固守我的話，就確是我的門徒，
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
也會認識真理，而真理必會使你們獲得自由。」
33 They answered Him, “We are seed of Abraham; and we have been servants to no one at any time; how do You say—You will become free?”
他們回答說: 「我們是亞巴郎的後裔，從未給人做過奴隸；怎麼你說：你們要成為自由的呢？」
34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who is committing sin, is a servant of sin,
耶穌答覆說: 「我實實在在告訴你們: 凡是犯罪的，就是罪惡的奴隸。
35 and the servant does not remain in the house—throughout the age, the Son remains—throughout the age; (aiōn g165)
奴隸不能永遠住在家裏，兒子卻永遠居住。 (aiōn g165)
36 if then the Son may make you free, in reality you will be free.
那麼，如果天主子使你們自由了，你們的確是自由的。
37 I have known that you are seed of Abraham, but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you;
我知道你們是亞巴郎後裔，你們圖謀殺害我，因為你們容納不下我的話。
38 I speak that which I have seen with My Father, and you, therefore, do that which you have seen with your father.”
我說的，是我在父那裏所看見的；而你們行的，卻是你們從你們的父那裏所學習的。」
39 They answered and said to Him, “Our father is Abraham”; Jesus says to them, “If you were children of Abraham, the works of Abraham you were doing;
他們回答說: 「我們的父是亞巴郎。」耶穌對他們說: 「假如你們是亞巴郎的子女，你們就該作啞巴郎的事。
40 and now, you seek to kill Me—a Man who has spoken to you the truth I heard from God; Abraham did not do this;
如今，你們竟圖謀殺害我──這個給你們說出從天主那裏所聽到的真理的人──亞巴郎卻沒有做過言這樣的事。
41 you do the works of your father.” They said, therefore, to Him, “We have not been born of whoredom; we have one Father—God”;
你們正做你們父親的事業。」他們向他說：「我們不是由淫亂生的，我們只有一個父親: 就是天主。」
42 Jesus then said to them, “If God were your father, you were loving Me, for I came forth from God, and am come; for neither have I come of Myself, but He sent Me;
耶穌回答說：「假如天主是你們的父親，你們必愛我，因為我是由天主出發而來的，並不是由我自己來的，而是那一位派遣了我。
43 why do you not know My speech? Because you are not able to hear My word.
為什麼你們不明白我的講論呢？無非是你們不肯聽我的話。
44 You are of a father—the Devil, and the desires of your father you will to do; he was a manslayer from the beginning, and he has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him; when one may speak the falsehood, he speaks of his own, because he is a liar—also his father.
你們是出於你們的父親魔鬼並願意追隨你們父親的慾望。從起初，他就是殺人的兇手，不站在真理上，因為在他內沒有真理；他幾時撒謊，正出於他的本性，因為他是撒謊者，而且又是撒謊者的父親。
45 And because I say the truth, you do not believe Me.
至於我，因為我說真理，你們卻不信我。
46 Who of you convicts Me of sin? And if I speak truth, why do you not believe Me?
你們中誰能指證我有罪？若是我說真理，為什麼你們卻不信我呢？
47 He who is of God, he hears the sayings of God; because of this you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
出於天主的，必聽天主的話；你們所以不聽，因為你們不是出於天主。」
48 The Jews, therefore, answered and said to Him, “Do we not say well, that You are a Samaritan, and have a demon?”
猶太人遂向他說: 「我們說你是個撒瑪黎雅人，並附有魔鬼，豈不正對嗎？」
49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me;
耶穌答覆說： 「我沒有附魔，我只是尊敬我的父，你們卻侮辱我。
50 and I do not seek My own glory; there is [One] who is seeking and is judging;
然而，我不尋求我的光榮，有為我尋求而行判斷的一位。
51 truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone may keep My word, he may not see death—throughout the age.” (aiōn g165)
我實實在在告訴你們: 「誰如果遵行我的話, 永遠見不到死亡。」 (aiōn g165)
52 The Jews, therefore, said to Him, “Now we have known that You have a demon; Abraham died, and the prophets, and You say, If anyone may keep My word, he will not taste of death—throughout the age! (aiōn g165)
猶太向他說: 「現在我們知道: 你附有魔鬼；亞巴郎和先知都死了；你卻說: 誰如果遵行我的話，永遠嚐不到死味。 (aiōn g165)
53 Are You greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died; whom do You make Yourself?”
難道你比我們的父親亞巴郎還大嗎？他死了，先知們也死了。你把你自己當作什麼人呢？」
54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify Myself, My glory is nothing; it is My Father who is glorifying Me, of whom you say that He is your God;
耶穌答覆說: 「我如果光榮我自己，我的光榮算不了什麼；那光榮是我的，是我的父，就是你們所稱的「我們的天主」。
55 and you have not known Him, and I have known Him, and if I say that I have not known Him, I will be like you—speaking falsely; but I have known Him, and I keep His word;
你們不認識他，我卻認識他；我若說我不認識他，我便像你們一樣是個撒謊者；但是，我認識他，也遵守他的話。
56 your father Abraham was glad that he might see My day; and he saw, and rejoiced.”
你們的父親亞巴郎曾歡欣喜樂地企望看到我的日子，他看見了極其高興。」
57 The Jews, therefore, said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and You have seen Abraham?”
猶太就對他說: 「你還沒有五十歲，就見過亞巴郎嗎？」
58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham’s coming—I AM”;
耶穌回答說: 「我實實在在告訴你們: 在亞巴郎出現以前我就有。」
59 they took up, therefore, stones that they may cast at Him, but Jesus hid Himself, and went forth out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
他們就拿起石頭來要向他投去；耶穌卻隱沒了，從聖殿裏出去了。
