John 7
1 And Jesus was walking after these things in Galilee, for He did not wish to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill Him,
Et après cela Jésus parcourait la Galilée, car il ne voulait pas parcourir la Judée parce que les Juifs cherchaient à le faire mourir.
2 and the celebration of the Jews was near—that of Shelters—
Or la fête des Juifs, celle des tabernacles, était proche:
3 His brothers, therefore, said to Him, “Depart from here, and go away to Judea, that Your disciples may also behold Your works that You do;
ses frères donc lui dirent: « Sors d'ici, et viens en Judée, afin que tes disciples aussi voient les œuvres que tu fais;
4 for no one does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be in public; if you do these things—reveal Yourself to the world”;
car personne ne fait en cachette ce qu'il cherche en même temps à rendre public; puisque tu fais ces choses, manifeste-toi toi-même au monde. »
5 for not even His brothers were believing in Him.
En effet pas même ses frères ne croyaient en lui.
6 Jesus, therefore, says to them, “My time is not yet present, but your time is always ready;
Jésus leur dit donc: « Mon temps n'est pas encore venu, mais votre temps est toujours venu;
7 the world is not able to hate you, but it hates Me, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil.
le monde ne peut vous haïr, mais il me hait parce que je témoigne contre lui que ses œuvres sont mauvaises;
8 You—go up to this celebration; I do not yet go up to this celebration, because My time has not yet been fulfilled”;
pour vous, montez à la fête; quant à moi, je ne monte pas encore à cette fête, parce que mon temps n'est pas encore accompli. »
9 and saying these things to them, He remained in Galilee.
Or, après leur avoir ainsi parlé, il restait en Galilée.
10 And when His brothers went up, then also He Himself went up to the celebration, not openly, but as in secret;
Mais, lorsque ses frères furent montés à la fête, alors lui-même y monta aussi, non pas ouvertement, mais comme en cachette.
11 the Jews, therefore, were seeking Him in the celebration, and said, “Where is that One?”
Les Juifs donc le cherchaient dans la fête et disaient: « Où est-il? »
12 And there was much murmuring about Him among the multitudes, some indeed said, “He is good”; and others said, “No, but He leads the multitude astray”;
Et il y avait parmi la foule un grand murmure à son sujet; tandis que les uns disaient: « Il est homme de bien, d'autres disaient: « Non; mais il égare la foule. »
13 no one, however, was speaking freely about Him, through fear of the Jews.
Cependant personne ne parlait librement de lui par crainte des Juifs.
14 And it being now the middle of the celebration, Jesus went up to the temple, and He was teaching,
Or, comme on était déjà vers le milieu de la fête, Jésus monta au temple, et il enseignait.
15 and the Jews were wondering, saying, “How has this One known letters—having not learned?”
Les Juifs donc s'en émerveillaient, et disaient: « Comment celui-ci connaît-il les lettres, sans les avoir étudiées? »
16 Jesus answered them and said, “My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me;
Jésus leur répliqua donc: « Ma doctrine n'est pas la mienne, mais celle de Celui qui m'a envoyé;
17 if anyone may will to do His will, he will know concerning the teaching, whether it is of God, or—[if] I speak from Myself.
si quelqu'un veut faire Sa volonté, il connaîtra, quant à ma doctrine, si elle vient de Dieu, ou si je parle de mon chef.
18 He who is speaking from himself seeks his own glory, but he who is seeking the glory of him who sent him, this one is true, and unrighteousness is not in him;
Celui qui parle de son chef recherche sa propre gloire; mais celui qui recherche la gloire de celui qui l'a envoyé, celui-là est véridique, et il n'y a pas d'injustice en lui.
19 has not Moses given you the Law? And none of you does the Law; why do you seek to kill Me?”
Moïse ne vous a-t-il pas donné la loi? Et pourtant nul d'entre vous ne pratique la loi! Pourquoi cherchez-vous à me faire mourir? »
20 The multitude answered and said, “You have a demon, who seeks to kill You?”
La foule lui répliqua: « Tu as un démon; qui est-ce qui cherche à te faire mourir? »
21 Jesus answered and said to them, “I did one work, and you all wonder,
Jésus leur répliqua: « J'ai fait une seule œuvre, et vous êtes tous dans l'étonnement à cause de cela.
22 because of this, Moses has given you the circumcision—not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers—and on a Sabbath you circumcise a man;
Moïse vous a donné la circoncision (non qu'elle vienne de Moïse, mais des pères), et vous circoncisez un homme un jour de sabbat;
23 if a man receives circumcision on a Sabbath that the Law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with Me that I made a man all whole on a Sabbath?
si l'homme subit la circoncision un jour de sabbat, afin que la loi de Moïse ne soit pas violée, pourquoi m'en voulez-vous de ce que j'ai guéri un homme tout entier un jour de sabbat?
24 Do not judge according to appearance, but the righteous judgment judge.”
Ne jugez pas selon l'apparence, mais portez le juste jugement. »
25 Certain, therefore, of the Jerusalemites said, “Is this not He whom they are seeking to kill?
Quelques-uns des Hiérosolymitains disaient donc: « N'est-ce pas celui qu'ils cherchent à faire mourir?
26 And behold, He speaks freely, and they say nothing to Him; did the rulers truly know that this is the Christ?
Et voici, il parle librement et ils ne lui disent rien; est-ce que par hasard les chefs ont vraiment reconnu que c'est lui qui est le Christ?
27 But this One—we have known where He is from; and the Christ, when He comes, no one knows where He is from.”
Mais nous savons d'où sort celui-ci, tandis que lorsque le Christ vient personne ne sait d'où il sort. »
28 Jesus cried, therefore, in the temple, teaching and saying, “You have both known Me, and you have known from where I am; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you have not known;
Jésus éleva donc la voix dans le temple en enseignant et en disant: « Vous me connaissez et vous savez aussi d'où je sors; et ce n'est pas de mon chef que je suis venu, mais Celui qui m'a envoyé est véritable, lequel vous ne connaissez pas;
29 and I have known Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me.”
moi, je Le connais, parce que je viens de Lui, et que c'est Lui qui m'a envoyé. »
30 They were seeking, therefore, to seize Him, and no one laid the hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come,
Ils cherchaient donc à le saisir, et personne ne mit la main sur lui, parce que son heure n'était pas encore venue.
31 and many out of the multitude believed in Him and said, “The Christ—when He may come—will He do more signs than these that this One did?”
Mais plusieurs de la foule crurent en lui, et ils disaient: « Le Christ, quand il sera venu, fera-t-il plus de miracles que celui n'en a fait? »
32 The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they may take Him;
Les pharisiens entendirent la foule qui murmurait ces paroles à son sujet, et les grands-prêtres et les pharisiens envoyèrent des huissiers afin de le saisir.
33 Jesus, therefore, said to them, “Yet a short time I am with you, and I go away to Him who sent Me;
Jésus dit donc: « Je suis encore avec vous pour un peu de temps, puis je m'en vais vers Celui qui m'a envoyé;
34 you will seek Me, and you will not find; and where I am, you are not able to come.”
vous me chercherez et vous ne me trouverez pas, et là où moi je suis, vous, vous n'y pouvez venir. »
35 The Jews, therefore, said among themselves, “To where is this One about to go that we will not find Him? Is He about to go to the dispersion of the Greeks, and to teach the Greeks?
Les Juifs se dirent donc entre eux: « Où doit-il se rendre, que nous ne pourrons pas le trouver? Est-ce qu'il doit se rendre parmi ceux qui sont dispersés chez les Grecs, et enseigner les Grecs?
36 What is this word that He said, You will seek Me, and you will not find? And, Where I am, you are not able to come?”
Que signifie cette parole qu'il a proférée: Vous me chercherez et vous ne me trouverez pas, et là où moi je suis, vous, vous n'y pouvez black venir? »
37 And in the last, the great day of the celebration, Jesus stood and cried, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink;
Or le dernier jour de la fête, qui était le grand, Jésus s'avança et éleva la voix en disant: « Si quelqu'un a soif, qu'il vienne à moi et qu'il boive;
38 he who is believing in Me, according as the Writing said, Rivers of living water will flow out of his belly”;
celui qui croit en moi, comme a dit l'Écriture, des fleuves d'eau vive découleront de son ventre. »
39 and this He said of the Spirit, which those believing in Him were about to receive; for not yet was the Holy Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Or il dit cela relativement à l'Esprit que ceux qui ont cru en lui devaient recevoir; car l'esprit saint n'avait pas encore été donné, parce que Jésus n'avait pas encore été glorifié. —
40 Many, therefore, out of the multitude, having heard the word, said, “This is truly the Prophet”;
Des gens de la foule ayant donc entendu ces paroles, disaient: « Celui-ci est vraiment le prophète. »
41 others said, “This is the Christ”; and others said, “Why, does the Christ come out of Galilee?
D'autres disaient: « Il est le Christ. » Mais les premiers disaient: « Est-ce qu'en effet le Christ doit venir de Galilée?
42 Did the Writing not say that out of the seed of David, and from Beth-Lehem—the village where David was—the Christ comes?”
L'Écriture n'a-t-elle pas dit que c'est de la race de David et de Bethléem, le village où était David, que doit sortir le Christ? »
43 A division, therefore, arose among the multitude because of Him.
Il y eut donc dissentiment parmi la foule à son sujet;
44 And certain of them were willing to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him;
mais quelques-uns d'entre eux voulaient le saisir, toutefois personne ne mit la main sur lui.
45 the officers came, therefore, to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why did you not bring Him?”
Les huissiers revinrent donc auprès des grands prêtres et des pharisiens, et ceux-ci leur dirent: « Pourquoi ne l'avez-vous pas amené? »
46 The officers answered, “Never so spoke man—as this Man.”
Les huissiers répondirent: « Jamais homme n'a parlé de la sorte. »
47 The Pharisees, therefore, answered them, “Have you also been led astray?
Les pharisiens répliquèrent: « Est-ce que, vous aussi, vous vous êtes laissés séduire?
48 Did anyone out of the rulers believe in Him? Or out of the Pharisees?
Est-ce que l'un des chefs ou des pharisiens a cru en lui?
49 But this multitude, that is not knowing the Law, is accursed.”
Mais cette foule qui ne connaît pas la loi est maudite. »
50 Nicodemus says to them—he who came by night to Him—being one of them,
Nicodème (celui qui était venu auprès de lui antérieurement et qui était l'un d'entre eux), leur dit:
51 “Does our law judge the Man, if it may not hear from Him first, and know what He does?”
« Est-ce que notre loi juge l'homme sans l'avoir d'abord interrogé, et sans avoir constaté ce qu'il fait? »
52 They answered and said to him, “Are you also out of Galilee? Search and see that a prophet has not risen out of Galilee”; [[
Ils lui répliquèrent: « Est-ce que toi aussi, tu sors de la Galilée? Examine, et vois qu'un prophète ne saurait surgir de la Galilée. »
53 and each one went on to his house, but Jesus went on to the Mount of Olives.
[Et chacun s'en alla dans sa maison.]
