John 7
1 And Jesus was walking after these things in Galilee, for He did not wish to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill Him,
Ja sen jälkeen Jeesus vaelsi ympäri Galileassa; sillä hän ei tahtonut vaeltaa Juudeassa, koska juutalaiset tavoittelivat häntä tappaaksensa.
2 and the celebration of the Jews was near—that of Shelters—

3 His brothers, therefore, said to Him, “Depart from here, and go away to Judea, that Your disciples may also behold Your works that You do;
Niin hänen veljensä sanoivat hänelle: "Lähde täältä ja mene Juudeaan, että myös sinun opetuslapsesi näkisivät sinun tekosi, joita sinä teet;
4 for no one does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be in public; if you do these things—reveal Yourself to the world”;

5 for not even His brothers were believing in Him.

6 Jesus, therefore, says to them, “My time is not yet present, but your time is always ready;

7 the world is not able to hate you, but it hates Me, because I testify concerning it that its works are evil.

8 You—go up to this celebration; I do not yet go up to this celebration, because My time has not yet been fulfilled”;
Menkää te ylös juhlille; minä en vielä mene näille juhlille, sillä minun aikani ei ole vielä täyttynyt.
9 and saying these things to them, He remained in Galilee.
Tämän hän sanoi heille ja jäi Galileaan.
10 And when His brothers went up, then also He Himself went up to the celebration, not openly, but as in secret;
Mutta kun hänen veljensä olivat menneet juhlille, silloin hänkin meni sinne, ei julki, vaan ikäänkuin salaa.
11 the Jews, therefore, were seeking Him in the celebration, and said, “Where is that One?”
Niin juutalaiset etsivät häntä juhlan aikana ja sanoivat: "Missä hän on?"
12 And there was much murmuring about Him among the multitudes, some indeed said, “He is good”; and others said, “No, but He leads the multitude astray”;
Ja hänestä oli paljon kiistelyä kansassa; muutamat sanoivat: "Hän on hyvä", mutta toiset sanoivat: "Ei ole, vaan hän villitsee kansan".
13 no one, however, was speaking freely about Him, through fear of the Jews.
Ei kuitenkaan kukaan puhunut hänestä julkisesti, koska he pelkäsivät juutalaisia.
14 And it being now the middle of the celebration, Jesus went up to the temple, and He was teaching,

15 and the Jews were wondering, saying, “How has this One known letters—having not learned?”
Niin juutalaiset ihmettelivät ja sanoivat: "Kuinka tämä osaa kirjoituksia, vaikkei ole oppia saanut?"
16 Jesus answered them and said, “My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me;
Jeesus vastasi heille ja sanoi: "Minun oppini ei ole minun, vaan hänen, joka on minut lähettänyt.
17 if anyone may will to do His will, he will know concerning the teaching, whether it is of God, or—[if] I speak from Myself.
Jos joku tahtoo tehdä hänen tahtonsa, tulee hän tuntemaan, onko tämä oppi Jumalasta, vai puhunko minä omiani.
18 He who is speaking from himself seeks his own glory, but he who is seeking the glory of him who sent him, this one is true, and unrighteousness is not in him;
Joka omiaan puhuu, se pyytää omaa kunniaansa, mutta joka pyytää lähettäjänsä kunniaa, se on totinen, eikä hänessä ole vääryyttä.
19 has not Moses given you the Law? And none of you does the Law; why do you seek to kill Me?”
Eikö Mooses ole antanut teille lakia? Ja kukaan teistä ei lakia täytä. Miksi tavoittelette minua tappaaksenne?"
20 The multitude answered and said, “You have a demon, who seeks to kill You?”
Kansa vastasi: "Sinussa on riivaaja; kuka sinua tavoittelee tappaaksensa?"
21 Jesus answered and said to them, “I did one work, and you all wonder,
Jeesus vastasi ja sanoi heille: "Yhden teon minä tein, ja te kaikki kummastelette.
22 because of this, Moses has given you the circumcision—not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers—and on a Sabbath you circumcise a man;
Mooses antoi teille ympärileikkauksen-ei niin, että se olisi Moosekselta, vaan se on isiltä-ja sapattinakin te ympärileikkaatte ihmisen.
23 if a man receives circumcision on a Sabbath that the Law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with Me that I made a man all whole on a Sabbath?
Sentähden: jos ihminen saa ympärileikkauksen sapattina, ettei Mooseksen lakia rikottaisi, miksi te olette vihoissanne minulle siitä, että minä tein koko ihmisen terveeksi sapattina?
24 Do not judge according to appearance, but the righteous judgment judge.”
Älkää tuomitko näön mukaan, vaan tuomitkaa oikea tuomio."
25 Certain, therefore, of the Jerusalemites said, “Is this not He whom they are seeking to kill?
Niin muutamat jerusalemilaisista sanoivat: "Eikö tämä ole se, jota he tavoittelevat tappaaksensa?
26 And behold, He speaks freely, and they say nothing to Him; did the rulers truly know that this is the Christ?
Ja katso, hän puhuu vapaasti, eivätkä he sano hänelle mitään. Olisivatko hallitusmiehet tosiaan saaneet tietoonsa, että tämä on Kristus?
27 But this One—we have known where He is from; and the Christ, when He comes, no one knows where He is from.”

28 Jesus cried, therefore, in the temple, teaching and saying, “You have both known Me, and you have known from where I am; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you have not known;
Niin Jeesus puhui pyhäkössä suurella äänellä, opetti ja sanoi: "Te tunnette minut ja tiedätte, mistä minä olen; ja itsestäni minä en ole tullut, vaan hän, joka minut on lähettänyt, on oikea lähettäjä, ja häntä te ette tunne.
29 and I have known Him, because I am from Him, and He sent Me.”
Minä tunnen hänet, sillä hänestä minä olen, ja hän on minut lähettänyt."
30 They were seeking, therefore, to seize Him, and no one laid the hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come,
Niin heillä oli halu ottaa hänet kiinni; mutta ei kukaan käynyt häneen käsiksi, sillä hänen hetkensä ei ollut vielä tullut.
31 and many out of the multitude believed in Him and said, “The Christ—when He may come—will He do more signs than these that this One did?”
Mutta monet kansasta uskoivat häneen ja sanoivat: "Kun Kristus tulee, tehneekö hän enemmän tunnustekoja, kuin tämä on tehnyt?"
32 The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they may take Him;
Fariseukset kuulivat kansan näin kiistelevän hänestä; niin ylipapit ja fariseukset lähettivät palvelijoita ottamaan häntä kiinni.
33 Jesus, therefore, said to them, “Yet a short time I am with you, and I go away to Him who sent Me;
Mutta Jeesus sanoi: "Minä olen vielä vähän aikaa teidän kanssanne, ja sitten minä menen pois hänen tykönsä, joka on minut lähettänyt.
34 you will seek Me, and you will not find; and where I am, you are not able to come.”
Silloin te etsitte minua, mutta ette löydä; ja missä minä olen, sinne te ette voi tulla."
35 The Jews, therefore, said among themselves, “To where is this One about to go that we will not find Him? Is He about to go to the dispersion of the Greeks, and to teach the Greeks?
Niin juutalaiset sanoivat keskenään: "Minne tämä aikoo mennä, koska emme voi löytää häntä? Eihän vain aikone mennä niiden luo, jotka asuvat hajallaan kreikkalaisten keskellä, ja opettaa kreikkalaisia?
36 What is this word that He said, You will seek Me, and you will not find? And, Where I am, you are not able to come?”
Mitä tämä sana on, jonka hän sanoi: 'Te etsitte minua, mutta ette löydä', ja: 'Missä minä olen, sinne te ette voi tulla'?"
37 And in the last, the great day of the celebration, Jesus stood and cried, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink;
Mutta juhlan viimeisenä, suurena päivänä Jeesus seisoi ja huusi ja sanoi: "Jos joku janoaa, niin tulkoon minun tyköni ja juokoon.
38 he who is believing in Me, according as the Writing said, Rivers of living water will flow out of his belly”;
Joka uskoo minuun, hänen sisimmästään on, niinkuin Raamattu sanoo, juokseva elävän veden virrat."
39 and this He said of the Spirit, which those believing in Him were about to receive; for not yet was the Holy Spirit, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Mutta sen hän sanoi Hengestä, joka niiden piti saaman, jotka uskoivat häneen; sillä Henki ei ollut vielä tullut, koska Jeesus ei vielä ollut kirkastettu.
40 Many, therefore, out of the multitude, having heard the word, said, “This is truly the Prophet”;

41 others said, “This is the Christ”; and others said, “Why, does the Christ come out of Galilee?

42 Did the Writing not say that out of the seed of David, and from Beth-Lehem—the village where David was—the Christ comes?”
Eikö Raamattu sano, että Kristus on oleva Daavidin jälkeläisiä ja tuleva pienestä Beetlehemin kaupungista, jossa Daavid oli?"
43 A division, therefore, arose among the multitude because of Him.
Niin syntyi kansassa eripuraisuutta hänen tähtensä.
44 And certain of them were willing to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him;
Ja muutamat heistä tahtoivat ottaa hänet kiinni. Mutta ei kukaan käynyt häneen käsiksi.
45 the officers came, therefore, to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why did you not bring Him?”
Niin palvelijat palasivat ylipappien ja fariseusten luo, ja nämä sanoivat heille: "Miksi ette tuoneet häntä tänne?"
46 The officers answered, “Never so spoke man—as this Man.”
Palvelijat vastasivat: "Ei ole koskaan ihminen puhunut niin, kuin se mies puhuu".
47 The Pharisees, therefore, answered them, “Have you also been led astray?
Niin fariseukset vastasivat heille: "Oletteko tekin eksytetyt?
48 Did anyone out of the rulers believe in Him? Or out of the Pharisees?
Onko kukaan hallitusmiehistä uskonut häneen tai kukaan fariseuksista?
49 But this multitude, that is not knowing the Law, is accursed.”
Mutta tuo kansa, joka ei lakia tunne, on kirottu."
50 Nicodemus says to them—he who came by night to Him—being one of them,
Niin Nikodeemus, joka ennen oli käynyt Jeesuksen luona ja joka oli yksi heistä, sanoi heille:
51 “Does our law judge the Man, if it may not hear from Him first, and know what He does?”
"Tuomitseeko lakimme ketään, ennenkuin häntä on kuulusteltu ja saatu tietää, mitä hän on tehnyt?"
52 They answered and said to him, “Are you also out of Galilee? Search and see that a prophet has not risen out of Galilee”; [[
He vastasivat ja sanoivat hänelle: "Oletko sinäkin Galileasta? Tutki ja näe, ettei Galileasta nouse profeettaa."
53 and each one went on to his house, but Jesus went on to the Mount of Olives.
Ja he menivät kukin kotiinsa.
